WILSON HINTS AT BEACH BOYS REUNION

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:21 pm

BRIAN WILSON has given THE BEACH BOYS fans hope of a comeback by hinting the band might stage a 50th anniversary reunion later this year (11).
The Good Vibrations hitmakers formed in 1961 but since the 1980s - following a series of legal wranglings over the use of the band’s name and the royalties to its songs - several different versions of the group have toured under the Beach Boys moniker.
Now Wilson has revealed he’s "considering" reuniting with his fellow surviving founder members - Mike Love and Al Jardine - to record new tracks.
He tells BBC 6 Music, "I’m considering it. I don’t know yet, but I am considering it… Nothing’s really holding me back. I just don’t know if I want to be around those guys, you know? They’re zany guys. They’re crazy." Wilson formed the band with Love, Jardine, and his brothers Dennis and Carl. Dennis Wilson drowned in 1983, and Carl Wilson died from cancer in 1998.

SANTANA TAKES AIM AT GEORGIA’S NEW IMMIGRATION LAW

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:21 pm

Guitarist CARLOS SANTANA criticised a tough new immigration law in Georgia as he was honoured in Atlanta on Sunday (15May11), branding the policy "anti-American".
The Mexican-born rocker spoke out against the controversial legislation after receiving the Beacon of Change Award ahead of the Civil Rights Game baseball event in the city.
Georgia Governor Nathan Deal signed a bill on Friday (13May11) which gives police officers the authority to check the immigration status of anyone suspected of being in the state illegally. A similar law was passed in Arizona last year (10).
Santana told the crowd, "I represent the human race… The people of Arizona, and the people of Atlanta, Georgia, you should be ashamed of yourselves." Speaking at a news conference after the ceremony, he added, "It’s an anti-American law… It’s a cruel law, actually. This is about fear. Stop shucking and jiving. People are afraid we’re going to steal your job. No we aren’t. You’re not going to change sheets and clean toilets.
"This is the United States. This is the land of the free. If people want the immigration laws to keep passing, then everybody should get out and leave the American Indians here." Elsewhere at the ceremony, The Shawshank Redemption star Morgan Freeman accepted the Beacon of Hope Award.

Ramsay is warned he will feel the organ beating in his stomach for several minutes afterwards as he admits, "The thought of eating that turns my stomach." The episode has not gone down well with animal rights activists at U.K. charity Animal Aid, who have branded Ramsay’s stunt "cruel, attention-seeking (and) sick".
Animal Aid director Andrew Tyler adds, "It’s an awful and vicious thing to do to an animal and Gordon Ramsay is complicit in it.
"He’s made sick entertainment out of this animal’s suffering to make himself look interesting but I think he’s just an inadequate creature." A spokesperson for the Channel 4 network insists, "Viewers are made aware before the start of the programme that some sequences feature animal slaughter."

JAGGER BACKS SOUND OFF FOR JUSTICE LONDON TAXI CAB CAMPAIGN

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 2:57 am

MICK JAGGER’s ex-wife BIANCA JAGGER is spearheading a new campaign to turn London taxi cabs into moving hi-tech booths for Brits to sound off about legal aid cuts.
Three taxis have been fitted with Apple iPads and iPhones, and passengers touring around central London this week (beg16May11) are invited to offer their opinions about the cuts - as part of a Sound Off For Justice campaign initiative.
Longtime human rights activist Jagger has offered her full support to the idea, alongside stars including actress Joanna Lumley.
She says, "What is the purpose of having rights if you can’t enforce the law? Legal Aid gives ordinary people access to legal protection (and) this access is in danger of being jeopardised.
"Some of the most important breakthroughs in law have taken place with the help of Legal Aid. Rights to work, the right not to be exploited, rights to housing, the right not to be discriminated against, and the right to speak out in the face of medical negligence has all been possible through the use of Legal Aid.
"I support Sound Off For Justice to protect these rights and maintain access to justice." The Sound Off For Justice taxis begin their tour of duty at 8am on Monday (16May11).
