GUETTA ‘CHASED’ FOR MINAJ COLLABORATION

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:24 pm

French dance music star DAVID GUETTA spent an entire year trying to persuade NICKI MINAJ to work with him before she agreed to a collaboration.
The producer and DJ admits he was desperate to get the hip-hop star in the studio with him and contacted her repeatedly until she said yes to rapping on his single Where Them Girls At.
He tells MTV.com, "It was an amazing start working together because I really wanted to work some more with her. I’m a really huge fan. To be honest, it’s very rare that I call artists - most of the time they call me. I’ve been chasing her for like a year because I really wanted to work with her." Guetta reveals Minaj was apprehensive about the project, until he played her the beat he had created.
He explains, "The first time you’re in the studio with someone, it’s sometimes difficult. She was being a little shy or reserved, you know. And then I played that record and she started to jump from her chair and scream. And she was like, ‘Wow, I love this!’"

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:15 pm

Novelist JACKIE COLLINS couldn’t bring herself to watch her late friend FARRAH FAWCETT’s cancer battle documentary, because she found the footage too "harrowing".
The Charlie’s Angels star shot the two-hour TV film, titled Farrah’s Story, as she battled the illness and it aired in May, 2009 - just a month before her tragic death.
Collins recorded the show with the intention of watching her pal’s brave fight - but she refused to watch the film because she wanted to remember Fawcett when she was healthy.
The writer tells Britain’s OK! magazine, "I do think we see too much. There are things we shouldn’t see. I just don’t know why Farrah did that film. I recorded it at the time but then I deleted it because I just couldn’t watch anything that harrowing. I loved Farrah, I just wanted to remember her the way she was."

WATER FOR ELEPHANTS BOSSES ADDRESS ABUSE REPORTS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:27 pm

Filmmakers behind REESE WITHERSPOON and ROBERT PATTINSON’s movie WATER FOR ELEPHANTS have distanced themselves from reports one of the animals featured in the drama was once abused.
Campaigners from the Animal Defenders International (ADI) group have released footage which purportedly shows 42-year-old Asian elephant Tai being mistreated by trainers in 2005.
In the clip, the elephant, who also appeared in Operation Dumbo Drop and Larger Than Life, is allegedly beaten with hooks and given electric shocks to perform headstands.
ADI president Jan Creamer spoke out against the film, insisting, "The public, the stars and the filmmakers have been duped. This poor elephant was trained to do the very tricks you see in the film by being given electric shocks. I believe that Reese Witherspoon and Robert Pattinson will be horrified to learn what Tai went through." Bosses at 20th Century Fox have now addressed the controversy, assuring movie-goers that Tai was not mistreated on the Water For Elephants set.
A statement from the studio reads: "Twentieth Century Fox feels strongly that we have taken every step to ensure that the film, while portraying the perception of animal abuse (often through digital effects), held in utmost importance the proper care and humane treatment of all animals involved in the production.
"Fox and the filmmakers behind Water for Elephants are disturbed and saddened by the video being circulated that purportedly shows the elephant Tai being mistreated several years ago. We are strongly opposed to violence against animals, humans or any creatures.
"Fox is compelled to point out that this video was not taken during the training for, or production of, our film, and neither Tai nor any other animal performer in the film was harmed in any way during the making of this film."

WINFREY PLANNING BROADWAY DEBUT

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:27 pm

OPRAH WINFREY is a step closer to making her longtime dream of appearing on Broadway come true after meeting with theatre producers in New York to discuss her debut role.
The media mogul/actress has always wanted to perform on stage in the Big Apple, but has been too busy with her self-titled TV talk show to commit to a production.
The Oprah Winfrey Show is scheduled to end this year (11) and Winfrey is already reading scripts and meeting with theatre bosses to make sure she can finally fulfil her Broadway ambitions.
She tells the Chicago Tribune, "I have a stack of plays in my bag right now that I am reading. And just this past weekend, I was in New York meeting with producers. We were just talking about what would be the best route to take. But yes, this is really going to happen… Life is too short. I think that an ensemble production is the way I should go." Winfrey also reveals she was desperate to join the cast of hit play Fences, which opened last year (10) and won Denzel Washington a Tony Award, and she even considered moving her TV show from its production base Chicago, Illinois to New York to accommodate a stint.
She adds, "I had always wanted to do Fences. I went through the idea of trying to take my show to New York, shoot a show during the daytime and appear on Broadway at night. But I couldn’t do it. And finally, Kenny (Leon, director) said he couldn’t wait any longer."

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:27 pm

SIR PAUL McCARTNEY was given a hero’s welcome upon arriving in Peru on Sunday (08May11) as thousands of fans gathered at the airport to catch a glimpse of the BEATLES legend.
Devotees armed with homemade banners lined the streets around Jorge Chavez International Airport in Lima to mark the arrival of the rocker, who played his first ever show in the South American country on Monday (09May11).
In scenes reminiscent of Beatlemania in the 1960s, swarms of shouting fans ran alongside McCartney’s car, prompting security guards to shove them out of the way.
McCartney, who recently announced his engagement to girlfriend Nancy Shevell, later rolled down the car window to chat to locals, greeting them by saying, "Hola, darling!" Hundreds more fans flocked to see McCartney check in at the city’s Miraflores Park Hotel, where staff put up metal barriers to contain the crowds.
The star’s historic concert at the Estadio Monumental in the Peruvian capital on Monday marked his first live show of 2011.

MOBY: ‘SPEARS IS BROKEN’

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:24 pm

Dance DJ MOBY has likened BRITNEY SPEARS to a "broken-down shell of a human being", but insists that is what makes her so "endearing".
The Porcelain hitmaker collaborated with the Toxic hitmaker on a track for her 2003 album In The Zone, four years before she suffered a breakdown, which saw her shave her head, attack a car with an umbrella then enter a psychiatric ward.
Moby, real name Richard Hall, reveals Spears was already showing signs of her troubled side when he worked with her - but he is still a fan of the singer.
He says, "Britney’s actually kind of like a broken-down shell of a human being, that’s what makes her so endearing and compelling. She was lovely, but really broken. Like, (A Streetcar Named Desire character) Blanche Dubois-style broken. Actually, the most entitled people I’ve met are indie rockers and indie actors, because they really believe their press."

CRUZ AND DEPP’S SOUTH PARK PRANK

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:24 pm

JOHNNY DEPP caused hysterics on the set of the new PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN movie by forcing PENELOPE CRUZ to dress up as a rude character from hit animated TV show SOUTH PARK.
The actors are both big fans of the comedy series and after losing a bet with Depp, Cruz had to perform an odd forfeit which involved her donning a crass costume in front of their co-workers - and she fears his pictures will one day surface online.
She explains to Britain’s Daily Mirror, "Johnny and I are both fans of South Park and the character Mr Hankey the Christmas Poo. It’s absurd but very funny. Johnny made this outfit for me and we had a bet which I lost. And I had to wear the Poo outfit on the set.
"He was on the floor laughing and crying and he took a thousand pictures of me which I hope never come to light. But, of course, now that I’ve said it, I’m sure they will appear somewhere."
