BEATLES TRUMPETER MASON DEAD

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:12 pm

DAVID MASON, the trumpeter who played on the BEATLES’ PENNY LANE, has died at the age of 85.
He passed away on 29 April (11) after a brief battle with leukaemia.
Paul McCartney hired Mason for the Penny Lane studio session in 1967 after he saw him on TV playing the trumpet on Bach’s Brandenburg Concerto No. 2 in F Major.
Mason has often said he did not know who the Beatles were when he got the call from producer George Martin.
Legend has it, McCartney sang what he wanted to hear from Mason’s trumpet and Martin wrote out the notes.
