SHEEN VOWS TO HELP TORNADO VICTIMS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:15 pm

Embattled actor CHARLIE SHEEN is planning a charity event for the tornado victims in Alabama, after a fan wrote to the star asking for help.
Severe storms swept across America over a 24-hour period, beginning on Wednesday (27Apr11), levelling entire neighbourhoods and claiming nearly 300 lives.
The former Two and a Half Men star, who toured the damaged southern state on Sunday (01May11), vowed to help people by organising a benefit, reports the Associated Press.
He says, "I want (to bring) some money, hope, faith and healing to the area." The actor decided to visit the city of Tuscaloosa after a University of Alabama student reached out to the star via Twitter.com, begging him to perform a relief show to raise funds for the devastated people.
In a response to the request, Sheen wrote, "Alabama; Heading your way. On a recon mission. My Cadre right behind me. You need help. I’m bringing it. DogSpeed." A date for the event has not yet been announced.
The actor has been raising quite a bit of cash for good causes during tour stops on his one-man My Violent Torpedo Of Truth/Death Is Not An Option trek across North America - Sheen cut a cheque to the Organization for Bipolar Disorder Awareness in Canada last month (Apr11) and also helped raise funds for disaster relief in Japan. On Saturday (30Apr11) he raised $20,000 (£12,500) for the family of brain damaged baseball fan Bryan Stow at a show in San Francisco, California.

JAMES COULDN’T BRING HIMSELF TO WRITE ABOUT BABY LOUIS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:15 pm

SANDRA BULLOCK’s cheating ex-husband JESSE JAMES refused to open up about the baby boy he adopted with the Oscar winner in his new memoir, because writing about the tot was too painful.
The TV mechanic’s marriage fell apart in March, 2010 when his infidelity was exposed in a U.S. tabloid and his divorce from Bullock was finalised months later.
It was subsequently revealed that the couple had started a family of their own two months before James hit headlines, adopting baby Louis from Louisiana, and Bullock completed the adoption process as a single mother following their split.
James has now laid bare his troubled life in his autobiography, American Outlaw, in which he comes clean about his affair and takes "full accountability" for his heartbreaking betrayal.
In an interview with People magazine, the father-of-three admits he was emotionally distraught during his marriage breakdown, but new fiancee Kat Von D has helped him bounce back - and now he is putting his family first.
He says, "Everything got ripped to shreds… I was at my breaking point… I’m moving forward, thinking clearly and becoming a better person… I have started life over." But there’s one aspect of his life he couldn’t bring himself to talk about in his memoir - baby Louis, now 16 months old.
He tells the publication, "Talking about Louis almost felt too intimate. He is so sweet and I miss him."

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:15 pm

FLORENCE AND THE MACHINE singer FLORENCE WELCH has a spooky past - she studied witchcraft as a child.
The Dog Days Are Over hitmaker went through a "goth" stage when she was younger, perfecting the art of casting spells as well as writing songs with titles such as My Boy Builds Coffins.
She tells Britain’s You magazine, "I dyed my hair red when I was 10 and when I was 11 - in my goth period - I dyed it black and I was really into witchcraft. I made mini shrines in my bedroom with candles and tried to cast spells to make the boy in the next class fall in love with me. I don’t think he did."

CROSS REFUSES TO WATCH BRAND’S REVAMPED ARTHUR

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:12 pm

Singer/songwriter CHRISTOPHER CROSS refuses to watch the ARTHUR remake because he hates the idea of RUSSELL BRAND recreating the role made famous by his late pal DUDLEY MOORE.
Cross recorded the theme to the 1981 movie classic and was upset when he heard of remake plans.
He has nothing against Brand, but feels moviemakers should have left the film well alone.
He tells BlogTalkRadio.com, "Dudley is Arthur and that’s it. Russell Brand is a talented guy but Dudley created the character and he’s gone.
"Steven Gordon, who wrote and directed that picture, died six weeks after Arthur came out, which is why Arthur 2 was not very good. I haven’t seen it and I’m not really interested in seeing it because I’m from the era that connects to Dudley." Cross was so opposed to the remake he refused to let producers use his iconic theme song, Best That You Can Do, which he co-wrote with Burt Bacharach and Carol Bayer Sager.
He adds, "They asked us if they could use the song, which we didn’t let them do. They did re-record it with somebody else. I just have a lot of reverence for Dudley and miss him greatly and he’s the one that brought that character to life."

Rapper FLAVOR FLAV has settled his outstanding legal issues following his arrest in Las Vegas on Friday (29Apr11).
The Public Enemy star, real name William Drayton, Jr., was pulled over by a cop for a routine traffic violation, but a search of his name turned up four outstanding warrants for the hip-hop veteran, each stemming from vehicular charges.
He was booked and released, but Flav was left angered by the police stop, and has hit out at the arresting officer for allegedly trying to "make a name for himself" by booking a famous face.
In a series of posts on Twitter.com, he writes, "I got pulled over by a curious Rookie A** Cop… He found out I had a traffic warrant, wanted to make a name for himself, took me in and now I’m home laying (in) my bed. what’s the big deal?!" But the trip to the police station gave Flav the opportunity to settle his legal issues, including driving without a licence and driving without proof of insurance.
He adds, "At least, I cleared up my s**t… some people are still on the run!"

SPECTOR LOSES APPEAL

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:12 pm

A panel of California appeals judges have upheld PHIL SPECTOR’s murder conviction, insisting the record producer received a fair trial.
They unanimously rejected an appeal of his 2009 murder conviction on Monday (02May11).
After a mistrial, Spector was sentenced to 19 years to life behind bars for the murder of actress Lana Clarkson.
The producer’s lawyers had claimed that photos of the trial judge used in the prosecution’s closing argument had turned the court into a government witness.
In the appellate panel’s decision, Judge Joan Klein ruled that the photos only demonstrated Superior Court Judge Larry Paul Fidler clarifying the testimony of a forensic witness.

KATE HUDSON has begun preparations for the arrival of her second child by converting a room in her house into a nursery.
The Almost Famous actress is expecting a baby with her rocker fiance Matt Bellamy and she recently admitted she doesn’t "feel prepared" as her summer (11) due date looms.
Hudson admits she didn’t feel ready when she was expecting her son, Ryder, from her marriage to Chris Robinson, as she didn’t own her own house until late in her pregnancy, so now she has been able to enjoy painting the new baby’s nursery.
She tells QMI, "All’s good. It’s different this time. With Ryder, I didn’t have a nursery. I didn’t even have a house until I was seven months pregnant. This time I actually got to paint a nursery." Hudson doesn’t know the gender of the baby, so she decided to paint the room a neutral yellow, adding, "I’m going with neutral colours. I don’t know what (gender) it is. WELCH SHUNS TWITTER FOR REAL LIFE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:21 pm

FLORENCE AND THE MACHINE star FLORENCE WELCH refuses to catalogue her life on Twitter.com - because she’s too busy "enjoying the moment" to share it with her fans.
The Dog Days Are Over singer has an account on the microblogging website but her showbiz life is so hectic, she only manages to post on it sporadically.
And she’s adamant she won’t fall into the trap of missing out on "something amazing" because she’s more concerned with documenting it online.
Welch tells Britain’s You magazine, "I can only manage about one (Tweet) a month. It’s not that I don’t want to, it’s just that when I am in a situation where I am doing something amazing it’s a shame - and rather rude - to bring out my phone and start Tweeting.
"I think a lot of people miss out on enjoying the moment because they are so busy trying to communicate it to the world. And I want to keep some moments to myself."

MCGEE RUES LATE RETIREMENT

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:21 pm

Music mogul ALAN MCGEE wishes he’d walked away from the industry after OASIS’ triumphant gigs at Britain’s Knebworth House, because he became "delusional" with success.
McGee was head of famed independent label Creation Records and became one of the most powerful men in the British rock scene after discovering the Wonderwall hitmakers in the early 1990s.
He went on to mastermind their huge success before closing down Creation and retiring from the industry in 2000 - but he now regrets keeping the company going after Oasis performed two iconic shows at the open-air Knebworth venue in 1996.
McGee tells Playlist magazine, "We really should have given up after Knebworth in ‘96, though. Ego is a horrible thing, but I got one. I was delusional: if it had been up to me, I’d have got Oasis to do a gig from Antarctica."

TYLER TOOK DRUGS ON STAGE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:18 pm

AEROSMITH frontman STEVEN TYLER went to desperate lengths to get high in the throes of his drug addiction and even hid cocaine in a drum on stage so he could take a fix during shows.
The singer spent years struggling with addiction and in 2009 he checked into rehab to address his dependence on painkillers, marking his eighth stint in treatment.
Tyler, who insists he is now clean and sober, has opened up about his struggles as he prepares to release a tell-all book about his life, and he’s revealed he used to take drugs during Aerosmith shows.
He tells People.com, "I kept my medicine cabinet on stage, in a 14-inch drum head, the bottom of which contained… one Dixie cup (paper cup) with a straw and blow (cocaine) in it and the other with Coca-Cola and Jack Daniels in it. Left to my own devices I probably would have been dead several times over." Tyler also estimates he wasted a staggering $20 million (£12.5 million) on drugs over the years, adding, "I blew 20 million. I snorted my Porsche, I snorted my plane, I snorted my house in that din of drugs and booze and being lost."
