Actress KRISTIN CHENOWETH spent her Easter weekend (23-24Apr11) frantic with worry after her dog fell sick.
The Glee star rushed her puppy Maddie to a veterinary practice in Los Angeles on Saturday (23Apr11) and spent hours by her pet’s side as animal experts diagnosed the pooch with pancreatitis, an inflammation of the pancreas.
In a series of posts on her Twitter.com page, she writes, "Everyone please pray for Maddie. Rushing her to doggie hospital. Throwing up. Maddie is getting bloodwork done. So glad we are at vet hospital. She has a fever but looks to be OK. Doctors are caring for her. Thank God. People who help animals do God’s work.
"Bloodwork just showed pancreatitis. Not great. Not horrible. We will be here awhile getting meds (medication) and fluids. Thanks for praying everyone! She will be OK. She just is sick. Poor thing. Pancreatitis." Chenoweth was eventually allowed to take Maddie home and she is ensuring her beloved pet gets plenty of care and attention.
She tells her online followers, "Home now. Maddie and mama are tired. She is gonna be OK. Lots of rest and a watchful eye for her. I have been a wreck all day. You know how it is with our babies. A long stressful day but she is gonna be OK. I have to watch her like a hawk for a bit. She is exhausted and just so tired."

HARRY POTTER star JIM BROADBENT and DOCTOR WHO actor MATT SMITH are among the stars who will fight it out for the top honour at the upcoming British Academy (BAFTA) Television Awards.
Broadbent has been tipped in the Leading Actor category for his role in Any Human Heart, while Smith has received a nomination for his portrayal of the Time Lord. They face competition from Benedict Cumberbatch (Sherlock) and Daniel Rigby (Eric and Ernie).
Hit musical series Glee will go up against Boardwalk Empire, The Killing and Mad Men for International Series, while Being Human, Downton Abbey, Misfits and Sherlock are all named in the Drama Series category.
Others hoping for gold at the upcoming London ceremony include funnyman Stephen Fry, whose quiz show QI is nominated along with The Rob Brydon Show, Harry Hill’s TV Burp and The Graham Norton Show for the Entertainment Performance prize.
Simon Cowell’s The X Factor has a nod for top Entertainment Programme and will compete against action game show The Cube, The Graham Norton Show and panel quiz series Have I Got News For You.
The prizegiving will take place on 22 May (11).

British director KEN LOACH was hospitalised in Scotland on Monday (25Apr11) following a freak fall on the set of his new film.
The 74 year old is currently shooting The Angel’s Share but he took a tumble on the steps of Glasgow’s Sheriff Court and sought medical attention at the city’s Royal Infirmary, reports Britain’s Daily Record.
A source tells the publication, "Lots of the crew were rushing around in a huge panic. Ken slipped on a step coming up from the canteen and cracked his head." Loach is expected to be released from hospital on Tuesday (26Apr11).

Punk icon POLY STYRENE has died after a battle with cancer. She was 53.
The former X-Ray Spex frontwoman, real name Marianne Elliott-Said, opened up about her breast cancer diagnosis earlier this year (11) but sadly passed away on Monday (25Apr11).
A statement posted on her official Twitter feed reads, "We can confirm that the beautiful Poly Styrene, who has been a true fighter, won her battle on Monday evening to go to higher places." The rocker formed her band after watching the Sex Pistols perform on her 18th birthday and X-Ray Spex gained a place in punk history with their album Germ Free Adolescents and hit track Oh Bondage Up Yours! Following the release of her solo album Translucence in 1980, Poly Styrene stepped out of the spotlight to join the Hare Krishna movement, occasionally re-emerging onto the music scene. She released her third solo album, Generation Indigo, last month (Mar11).
Boy George has led the tributes to the star, writing on his Twitter.com page, "I was a fan of Poly before I got to know her, she was a Krishna follower too, oh bless you Polly you will be missed! Legend!"

ORLANDO BLOOM looked to the music scene in his native Britain for inspiration as he portrayed a cocky rocker in new movie SYMPATHY FOR DELICIOUS - basing his character on IAN BROWN and LIAM and NOEL GALLAGHER.
The Pirates of the Caribbean star plays group frontman The Stain in Mark Ruffalo’s directorial debut, and he reveals the rock wildmen provided him with plenty of material to work with as he developed the role.
He tells WENN, "I was thinking of Ian Brown, lead singer for The Stone Roses and the Gallagher brothers from Oasis.
"A lot of the great British bands come from the North of England. Those guys particularly, the Gallagher brothers and Ian Brown, have got this real attitude, arrogance and confidence that they are the best band in the world and everyone needs to know that and I really thought that lent itself to The Stain." Bloom admits he had no personal run-ins with rockers to draw from, but he’d love to experience that lifestyle in another lifetime.
He adds, "I never had a brush with a rock star but I’d like to come back as a rock star." The actor debuted his movie band with a free concert in Los Angeles in February 2009, when he recorded a gig scene for the film with co-star and punk rocker Juliette Lewis.

Pregnant actress JESSICA ALBA insists on keeping fit as she prepares for the birth of her second child because she’s convinced a healthy body will produce a healthy baby.
The Fantastic Four beauty admits she has indulged in all of her cravings since discovering she is to become a mother again, but she’s determined to continue exercising to ensure she stays active.
She tells Latina magazine, "Sometimes you can’t get a food out of your mind. I could always eat watermelon. With (daughter) Honor, I loved fruit, too. It’s a decent craving. You still eat cheeseburgers and pickles - you just want watermelon really bad. I don’t deprive myself of anything. I eat whatever." "I’d like to still do something five days a week, from a half hour to an hour - nothing excessive, just some moving (around). It makes the whole pregnancy so much easier. The more fit you are, the easier the birth is, and a healthier baby you’re going to have." And Alba reveals she’s learned to relax and enjoy her pregnancy this time around, having already experienced the emotional rollercoaster when she was expecting Honor.
She adds, "Every moment was so new and kind of terrifying and now I know what to expect. It’s like, ‘It’s fine, I’ve been there before.’ With Honor, I was constantly like, ‘Is she moving? Is her heart beating?’ I’d worry about everything and with this baby, I don’t have the same anxieties."

A spokesperson for BRITNEY SPEARS has shot down rumours the pop star is to wed again after she was photographed wearing what appeared to be an engagement ring.

FLEETWOOD MAC star LINDSEY BUCKINGHAM delighted fans at a concert in Los Angeles on Friday (22Apr11) when he debuted a series of new songs from his upcoming album SEEDS WE SOW.
The singer and guitarist performed an intimate show at the Saban Theater and had a special surprise in store for his devotees as he unveiled the new material for the first time.

Rockers THE STROKES have returned to the studio to begin recording new music, just one month after making their chart comeback with ANGLES.
The New York band released their first album in five years in March (11), but they are not planning on keeping fans waiting too long for their next project and are already starting work on fresh material.

Rock matriarch SHARON OSBOURNE credits her son JACK’s determination to get clean with inspiring OZZY OSBOURNE to kick his addictions to drink and drugs once and for all.
The Paranoid hitmaker’s lifelong battle with alcohol and illegal substances has been well documented over the years, but it was only when Jack checked into a child psychiatric ward to deal with his personal issues in 2003 that the Black Sabbath frontman became serious about confronting his own problems.
Speaking in candid new documentary GOD Bless Ozzy Osbourne, which was produced by Jack, Sharon says, "Jack getting sober was… really his big turning point… Jack was dealing with life sober for the first time." R&B singer FARRAH FRANKLIN is planning to take legal action against California police amid allegations of "manhandling" during her arrest in the early hours of Saturday (23Apr11).
The former Destiny’s Child star was taken into custody in Culver City on suspicion of disorderly conduct after cops received a disturbing the peace complaint about Franklin.
The 29-year-old African-American, who was released on $100 (£63) bail, insists she is innocent and has sensationally accused officers of targeting her for her race and mistreating her during her detainment.
She told TMZ.com, "I was manhandled by the arresting officers… There were no female officers on duty and I was required to take off my top and treated unfairly." And Franklin has now vowed to take her case to court.

Actor HUGH LAURIE has defended his decision to sing the blues despite leading a charmed life, insisting he shouldn’t have to be poor to be a musician.
The House star is set to release blues album Let Them Talk next month (May11) and critics have been quick to question whether a wealthy Englishman can tackle the genre, which originated in impoverished African-American communities in the Deep South.
But Laurie is adamant artists shouldn’t have to "starve" to record music they love.
When asked about the criticism, he tells the U.K.’s The Andrew Marr Show, "I would probably think the same myself if I were looking in from the outside. But at the same time, I just think, really? Is that the way we just operate on this grid system? That we’re only allowed to do this if we’re that? How poor do I have to be in order to be a musician? "This demand that artists starve in garrets, artists in any form… I suppose there’s a reason behind that, there’s a suspicion that your intent is not serious - I understand that. But this is as serious as I get. There’s nothing I’ve done that is more serious than this."

Mexican actress FERNANDA ROMERO has been sentenced to 30 days behind bars after admitting to lying to immigration officials in a bid to gain U.S. residency.
In January (11), the Drag Me To Hell star pleaded guilty to making a false statement to authorities investigating her sham marriage to American musician Kent Ross.
On Monday (25Apr11), U.S. District Judge Manuel Real ordered both Romero and Ross to spend 30 days behind bars.
However, the sentence will only be served on weekends, according to the Associated Press.

A representative for RYAN PHILLIPPE has shot down reports the CRASH star is set to quit acting to move behind the camera, insisting he is staying put in Hollywood.
The 36 year old, who found fame as a teenager on U.S. soap One Life to Live in 1992, was alleged to have announced he was turning his back on the spotlight and planning to relocate to New York in a recent interview with the New York Post’s Page Six gossip column.
He is quoted as saying, "I’m going to move. I’m going to spend a third of my year in New York… I think I’m going to end my acting career. I’m so introverted. I’m ready to be behind the scenes. I’m 36, but I’ve been doing this for 20 years." But Phillippe’s spokesperson is adamant the claims have been fabricated.
His rep tells Eonline.com, "He is not going to stop acting nor did he ever say that he would. The Page Six story is completely incorrect. He’s not moving to New York. But he has a film that will be in production in the city soon."

New mum PENELOPE CRUZ had to use the waters off the coast of Puerto Rico as her toilet while shooting PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: ON STRANGER TIDES, after filmmakers left her on an island without amenities while pregnant.
The Vicky Cristina Barcelona star was a few months into her pregnancy when she shot the majority of the Disney adventure with Johnny Depp in Hawaii last year (10), and Cruz admits she struggled to control her bladder throughout production.
But the issue became a big problem when filming moved to Puerto Rico - because the location was so deserted, there were no restrooms in sight.
Cruz tells Entertainment Weekly, "(The filmmakers) really took care of me. But we were in Puerto Rico to do a helicopter shot, and they left Johnny and me on a deserted island with no bathrooms. That, for a pregnant woman, can be a bit of a problem. So for those few hours I had to keep going into the water every 15 minutes! That’s one of those things you remember forever." The actress gave birth to baby Leo, her son with husband Javier Bardem, in January (11).

Rapper BUSTA RHYMES is giving up-and-coming British singer CHER LLOYD’s career a big boost after reportedly agreeing to collaborate with the young singer on an upcoming track.
Lloyd rose to fame as a contestant on Simon Cowell’s U.K. reality show The X Factor last year (10), and although she didn’t win the TV competition, she landed a record deal with the pop mogul’s Syco Music label.
And now the youngster has landed hip-hop star Rhymes as a special guest on her debut album, according to reports.
A spokesperson for Syco has refused to confirm or deny the claims, simply stating, "We are exploring exciting collaborations."
