SEAN ‘DIDDY’ COMBS has been hit with a lawsuit by a man who alleges he was attacked by the rapper’s bodyguards at a party following the BET Hip Hop Awards in October (10).
Jabari Tilgham claims he was beaten while working as a photographer at an afterparty hosted by Combs in Club Mansion in Atlanta, Georgia, according to a lawsuit filed in DeKalb County State Court on Friday (15Apr11).
The 30 year old maintains he was targeted by Combs’ personal security and assaulted while snapping celebrity guests at the bash.
A security guard who was working at the venue has confirmed Tilgham’s story in a signed affidavit, attorney Jeffrey Gewirtz tells the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
The suit includes Combs, four unnamed bodyguards and nightclub bosses as defendants.

DR. DRE WINS LEGAL BATTLE OVER THE CHRONIC WEB SALES

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:15 pm

Legendary rapper/producer DR. DRE has won a legal ruling entitling him to 100 per cent of the profits of digital sales of his iconic album, THE CHRONIC.
Dr. Dre, real name Andre Young, took label executives to court last year (10), alleging they were improperly selling his 1992 debut online and using his hits in compilations without his authorisation.
U.S. District Judge Christina Snyder ruled on Tuesday (19Apr11) that Death Row Records bosses do not have the rights to sell the album online and that Dr. Dre has received far less cash than he is due from web sales.
The ruling will now see the hip-hop star receive 100 per cent of the proceeds, according to Dr. Dre’s attorney Howard King.
In a statement to the Associated Press, King explains, "For years, Death Row Records forgot about Dre when they continued to distribute his music digitally and combined his hits with weaker Death Row tracks in an attempt to elevate the stature of their other artists.
"We are gratified that the federal court has unambiguously declared that Death Row has no right to engage in such tactics, and must hold all proceeds from these illicit distributions in trust for our client." It’s not the first time Dr. Dre has battled the label he left in 1996 - last year (10), he sued Death Row Records over claims a modified version of his album, retitled The Chronic Re-Lit, was in violation of trademark and publicity law. The case was thrown out of court.

BRAND’S CONCERNS OVER ALCOHOL IN ARTHUR

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:15 pm

RUSSELL BRAND fears his portrayal of a drunk in ARTHUR isn’t as light-hearted as DUDLEY MOORE’s original turn - because alcoholism is now viewed as a disease and not a "giggly and frivolous" matter.
The British funnyman stepped into Moore’s shoes to play the millionaire playboy in a remake of the iconic 1981 comedy, but admits it was a challenge to portray a booze-addled character when substance abuse is now considered taboo.
He tells Britain’s Independent newspaper, "Dudley’s performance really stands out because it wasn’t like it was a chilling portrayal of the horrors of alcoholism. It was really a device for clowning and facilitating physical comedy.
"But nowadays you have to address the fact that alcohol is a problem. Aldous Snow, the previous lunatic drunk I’ve played (in Forgetting Sarah Marshall), was a dark, bleak character, whereas Arthur is far more merry and twinkly. But I think that anyone who drinks that much is an alcoholic.
"Alcohol now is recognised as a disease and a social problem, not something we can be all giggly and frivolous about. So my own Arthur, whilst he’s still a raving alcoholic, he doesn’t get away with it in the way that Dudley did. In those days, clearly, it wasn’t a problem for people to be alcoholics. People were dying of alcoholism and it was considered fun."

LOPEZ SNUBBED X FACTOR FOR IDOL

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 9:18 am

Pop superstar JENNIFER LOPEZ has revealed she was in discussions to judge SIMON COWELL’s upcoming U.S. version of THE X FACTOR - but she turned it down for AMERICAN IDOL instead.
The Jenny From the Block hitmaker currently sits on the panel of the revamped talent show alongside Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler and Randy Jackson.
As anticipation mounts over who will judge the forthcoming series The X Factor, Lopez has now admitted she was in talks to join the programme.
But Lopez picked American Idol because it’s an established "institution" in U.S. TV.
She tells Britain’s Daily Star, "We did talk about The X Factor for a little bit. But at the end of the day, thinking about my career and everything that was going on, when the opportunity to do Idol came along it seemed a better fit. Idol has been a show for so many years. It’s an institution. To be involved in something like that felt really great." However Lopez insists she’s not sure if she will return for a second series of Idol: "I don’t know if I will do another season. I’m taking it day by day at the moment and we’ll see what happens. I’ve been having a great time, I can’t lie. I’m really enjoying it and having fun and enjoying working with the contestants."

PALTROW ADOPTED MACROBIOTIC DIET IN A DESPERATE ATTEMPT TO SAVE HER DAD

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 9:15 am

GWYNETH PALTROW adopted a super-healthy macrobiotic lifestyle in the hope it would encourage her father to eat better - and beat cancer.
The Emma actress accepts it may have been a naive notion, but when her late dad Bruce was diagnosed with throat cancer in 1998, she really thought a better diet and alternative medicine would help keep him alive.
She then became the poster woman for raw and macrobiotic food - something she gave up when she first became a mum.
The actress, who has just released a healthy food cookbook dedicated to her dad, says, "I was convinced he could heal himself with good foods and alternative medicine, even if he was resistant to the perhaps naive idea.
"I read everything that linked pesticides, growth hormones and preservatives to cancer. I enlisted a macrobiotic counsellor, who said she had healed herself from cancer by eating this way, and I brought in a chef to get us started.
"Still, I was dealing with a man who upon hearing his cancer diagnosis went out for hot dogs and after an excruciating throat surgery wanted to go straight to eat at (Hollywood restaurant) Mr. Chow. He never embraced the idea of cutting anything out." But Paltrow insists the research she did wasn’t wasted - it made her think carefully about the food she ate.
She tells health magazine Self, "All the information I gathered made an impact on me. In a bid to heal my father by proxy, I went strictly organic, local and macro and eliminated dairy, sugar, meat, liquor and gluten… although sometimes I wanted a slice of cake or a martini with olives."

PECKNOLD BACK WITH GIRLFRIEND AFTER ALBUM BUST-UP

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 9:15 am

FLEET FOXES frontman ROBIN PECKNOLD and his longtime on/off girlfriend are attempting to patch up their romance after she dumped him as he struggled to complete the band’s new album.
The singer/songwriter accepts he became "hard to be around" after deciding to scrap his band’s new album and start all over again in 2009 - and his relationship with girlfriend Olivia suffered.
He tells Rolling Stone magazine, "I was f**king up in terms of being present. She’d say, ‘What are you thinking about?’ and I’d be like, ‘The third lyric of…’ I was self-obsessed, and it didn’t leave a lot of mental space for her." But the couple’s split drove the folk star to make sure he and his band recorded the best album they could.
He adds, "From then on, I needed the record to be perfect. I was like, ‘If this is going to have affected all these other things in a crappy way, it needs to be f**king awesome.’" The result, Helplessness Blues, has helped Pecknold win back his ex.
He reveals, "She said, ‘If this is why (we broke up)… then it was worth it.’" The couple is now hoping to set up home in Portland, Oregon, where the singer has just leased a house
