INTERNET SENSATION TO HAND OVER ITUNES CASH TO JAPAN RELIEF GROUPS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 9:30 am

Internet pop sensation REBECCA BLACK is donating proceeds from her digital download sales on iTunes to Japanese disaster relief charities, because she feels guilty about stealing headlines from the earthquake/tsunami tragedies.
The teenage singer/songwriter has become an overnight sensation since posting a video performance of her song Friday on YouTube.com last month (Feb11), and now she’s making a small fortune selling the tune via iTunes.
But she feels for the people of Japan and insists it’s time for her to help them out.
She tells UsMagazine.com, "I think that I get 60 per cent (of sales). I am donating money to my school and Japan. My school, El Rancho Charter, is really where I started focusing on singing.
"(And) I feel bad (that) Japan happened so close to mine (story), and I feel like I’m taking away attention from it. I really just want to give back."

GLASVEGAS STAR ALLAN OPENS UP ABOUT MCKAY’S DEPARTURE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 9:27 am

GLASVEGAS star RAB ALLAN was unsurprised when CAROLINE MCKAY left the line-up last year (10) - because she hated the constant travelling and high-profile shows.
The drummer stunned fans when she quit the group, and now Allan has opened up about the reasons behind her departure.
He tells Britain’s The Sun, "It wasn’t a shock as we knew she wasn’t happy. She never signed up for all the travel and demands which we had when things took off. She never wanted to stand there in front of thousands of people and play at (British festival) Glastonbury.
"She found it all too much and she told us as a band. We all sat down together so there wasn’t any hard feelings. We all got a bit upset and felt sad at first as we valued her so much." McKay was replaced by Swedish star Jonna Lofgren.

BOWIE KEPT WILD WAYS HIDDEN FROM YOUNG SON

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 9:27 am

Singer DAVID BOWIE ensured his son wasn’t exposed to his wild ways when he was growing up - DUNCAN JONES only found out about his father’s excesses when he read newspaper reports years later.
The rocker is famed for his drug use during his heyday, once admitting, "I’d stay up for weeks. Even people like Keith Richards were floored by it… I was hallucinating 24 hours a day." But Bowie made sure Jones, who was born Zowie Bowie in 1971, did not witness his crazy antics.
The moviemaker tells Britain’s The Times, "I was massively kept away from that kind of thing. I found out about it when I was older and found it very difficult to separate the dad I remember growing up with to the man in the papers." And Jones was unfazed by tabloid tales about his father’s bisexuality, adding, "I didn’t know about that either till I was older and I never really cared when I understood what it meant. I remember him having the most gorgeous girlfriends. If it’s true, I don’t care."

LANG LOOKING FORWARD TO TURNING 50 ON TOUR

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 9:27 am

Canadian singer K.D. LANG has no fears about turning 50 in November (11), insisting she’s "stoked" to be touring her new album during her milestone year.
Lang will mark her big birthday the same month she tours her upcoming album, Sing It Loud, in Australia and she’s excited about being on the road for her celebrations.
She tells the Queensland Courier-Mail, "I haven’t even planned a party. I’m not a big party person. I’ll probably just get a massage, that’s my favourite thing. Turning 50 is a great thing; 45 was bigger to me for some reason. But I’m pleased.
"I’m pleased this is the record I’m touring when I turn 50. People are talking about singles from this album and for me even to be saying ’single’ and ‘k.d. lang’ in the same sentence is very abstract.
"At 50, after all these years when I’ve had one hit single in my entire life, I’m amused and happy. I’m stoked. I feel like a teenager again with this band. Except I’m the oldest teenager. And I plan on going on until I can’t do it any more."

GREEN DEVELOPED ‘THICK SKIN’ FROM TOUGH TEEN YEARS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 9:24 am

Singer CEE LO GREEN is convinced his tough background has helped him in the music industry, as his "skin is a little thicker" because of his difficult past.
The Forget You hitmaker’s father died when he was two years old and his mother, Sheila, was paralysed in a car crash, dying two years after the accident when Green was just 18.
He suffered from depression as a result and has previously admitted he was "just a plain maniac" in his youth, adding: "I was enraged. I was disgruntled, without an outlet. I was aggressive and I was pretty efficient with it - I took pride in that ability." Green refuses to link the loss of his parents to his bad behaviour - but is adamant his love of music helped change his attitude.
He tells Britain’s Daily Mirror, "I never knew my father. He could have been violent in his own right. It’s not for me to speculate. I’ve always had the same heart. The same heart that creates music is the one that made me determined to protect myself at all costs.
"Survival is a skill. I’m a soldier, a lover and a fighter. My skin is a little thicker because of where I’ve come from. I could have gone comfortably numb a long time ago, but I was saved because of my association with music. Music truly did calm a savage beast."

WATSON LOST ACTING AMBITION AFTER BECOMING A MUM

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 9:24 am

British actress EMILY WATSON would be happy to step out of the spotlight and become a full-time housewife - because she’s lost her acting ambition.
The Gosford Park star and husband Jack Waters are parents to Juliet, five, and two-year-old Dylan and the actress admits she’s become more focused on motherhood than movie sets.
But Watson has to keep working - because she’s the main income provider in the household.
She tells Britain’s The Independent, "I don’t feel ambitious anymore. I really don’t! It’s such a pleasure going to work, and I love my job, but if I had to give it up tomorrow, I would. But actually I can’t because I’m the breadwinner and I have to keep going. So I won’t. I have to find a way of making it all work and putting it all together."

SPALL LISTENED TO CHURCHILL WAR RECORDINGS FOR KING’S SPEECH ROLE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 9:24 am

British actor TIMOTHY SPALL ensured his portrayal of WINSTON CHURCHILL in THE KING’S SPEECH was as authentic as possible by listening to old recordings of the wartime U.K. Prime Minister.
The Harry Potter star played the historical figure opposite Colin Firth in the Oscar-winning movie and he delved into the archives to perfect Churchill’s speech patterns.
He says, "You have to be very careful when you take on these icons that everybody assumes they know about, and they’re precious in people’s hearts. I’m sure there are people who were children then.
"I just wanted to do it on my own terms and listen to all of his key speeches from 1937 to 1950 over and over again."

JONES WON’T RECONCILE WITH ESTRANGED MOTHER BOWIE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 9:21 am

Moviemaker DUNCAN JONES has no plans to reconnect with his estranged mother ANGIE, insisting he doesn’t "miss her" in his life.
Angie married rocker David Bowie in 1970 and they welcomed their son a year later (71). The couple divorced in 1980 and the musician was granted custody of their son.
Jones continued to see his mother during school breaks, but "stopped having contact" with her as a teen - and he doesn’t regret the decision.
He tells Britain’s The Times, "I don’t miss her and don’t feel I have missed anything by not having her in my life.
"I don’t remember my mother and father being together. I remember going between houses for holidays, and at 13 I stopped having contact with her. It wasn’t healthy.
"Over the years I’ve attempted contact but it’s like getting a shock to my fingers. I know now not to bother."

GEST CREDITS TAYLOR WITH CAREER

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 9:21 am

Music producer DAVID GEST has credited his late pal DAME ELIZABETH TAYLOR with revitalising his career after she advised him on how to produce a Hollywood awards ceremony.
Gest was in the early stages of his career when he accepted a job behind the scenes at the American Cinema Awards in the 1980s, and the star is sure it was Taylor’s guidance which made the ceremony such a "huge success".
He tells Britain’s The Sun, "It is thanks to Elizabeth that I was able to forge a successful career as a producer. The awards show was only the third thing I had produced and she sat and told me exactly how to do it.
"Initially I said: ‘No, I want to do it my way.’ But 20 minutes after leaving her house I called her back and said: ‘No, I am going to do it your way.’ "The show was a huge success. I ended up following that format for the rest of my career and many others copied it too." Gest has also added to the tributes to his close friend, who died of congestive heart failure in Los Angeles on Wednesday (23Mar11).
He adds, "Elizabeth Taylor was a class act, a true professional who was always there for her friends and was true to her word. She was an incredibly gracious woman, warm and funny.
"She was the most giving entertainer I have ever met. She was the ultimate movie star, a larger than life character. From her huge catalogue of work to her multiple marriages and, of course, her lavish shopping habits.
"Elizabeth’s death marks the end of a golden Hollywood era. I am afraid they simply don’t make them like her any more."

PATTINSON FEARS FINAL TWILIGHT FILMS WILL GET ‘R’ RATING

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:21 pm

TWILIGHT star ROBERT PATTINSON fears the final two movies in the vampire love story saga will have to be heavily censored for young fans to see them - because some scenes are too horrific.
The British actor, who plays Edward Cullen in the film franchise, is worried film bosses will slap a restrictive rating on the two Breaking Dawn movies after considering them too extreme for teenagers.
He tells Entertainment Weekly magazine, "There’s some interesting and weird stuff going on - really very, very, very strange. It’s great. For a big mainstream movie, it’s the most obscure storyline and really outside the box.
"It’s a horror movie. I’ve seen a few bits, and I just can’t see how it’s going to be (rated) PG-13… unless they cut everything out." The climactic scenes include the graphic birth of a vampire baby.
