Actor MATT BOMER missed out on the chance to meet BILL CLINTON at an Oscars afterparty on Sunday (27Feb11) after leaving before the former U.S. president could praise him for his work on hit crime drama WHITE COLLAR.
The TV star was overjoyed to hear Clinton is a big fan of his new U.S. series, but admits the delight turned into despair after learning he had lost out on the opportunity to meet the former politician.
In an interview on U.S. TV’s Live with Regis & Kelly, Bomer says, "I found out that Bill Clinton watches the show, which for me is kinda the ultimate compliment.
"I bailed out of this party a little early and then a (TV) producer comes up to me the next day and says, ‘Where did you go? Bill was looking for you.’ Immediately, of course, I thought I was in trouble, and then I said, ‘Bill who?’ ‘Clinton.’ (I’m like), ‘What? You can’t tell me that!’ Only my grandma watches the show! Now I can never do a take without thinking Bill Clinton is going to see this."

Actor JAMES FRANCO has posted his first thoughts following his Oscars co-hosting experience, and it’s a defiant dig at his college newspaper.
The 127 Hours star jetted home to New York immediately after Sunday’s (27Feb11) ceremony, amid reports he was unhappy with the way the evening went and his sidekick Anne Hathaway.
Both actors’ publicists have dismissed rumours the two stars failed to get along on the night, and Hathaway has insisted her co-host had to snub post-show parties, including one he had allegedly arranged, so he could be on time for classes at Yale University, where he is a student, the following day.
Franco has been silent about the Oscars fall-out, but on Tuesday (01Mar11) he posted a photo of himself in a car with the photoshopped words ‘F**K THE YALE DAILY NEWS’ on his Twitter.com.
There was no explanation for the outburst, but sources claim Franco was annoyed and upset with negative comments made in America’s oldest college daily newspaper about his Oscars appearance.

COREY HAIM’s mother has blasted Academy Awards bosses for failing to include her late son in the In Memoriam tribute at the 2011 Oscars, insisting she felt "numb" and "hurt" by the snub.
Judy Haim watched the prizegiving on Sunday (27Feb11), hoping to see her son honoured as Celine Dion sang Charlie Chaplin’s Smile. But the star, who died last year (10), wasn’t part of the special segment.
She tells People.com, "When it was over, I shut the TV off and was so hurt, and I was numb and feeling his pain. This would have hurt him to the core." Judy reveals she asked Academy Awards chiefs for an explanation as to why the Lost Boys star was not featured in the memorial section - but was unsatisfied with their response.
She adds, "They knew Corey and sent condolences, and they explained that 200 (industry people) passed away in 2010 and it’s impossible to mention them all. But I felt there were people we didn’t even know who were on (the telecast).
"The Academy is not aware who is a household name. A lot of people were p**sed off he wasn’t mentioned and this was (his) last chance to be honoured by his peers.
"They say they’re a tight community, but don’t go to (people’s) aid when in trouble, and don’t honour them when they die. They need to say something when they pass away.
"I am sorry, he (Haim) has paid (his) dues. How can you not honour them? How can they say there’s not enough time? They need to find time." Haim’s longtime pal Corey Feldman has previously expressed his shock at the snub, saying, "Corey dedicated his life to the film industry. The same industry that failed to dedicate even 30 seconds to his memory." A statement from the Oscars producers reads, "There will always be fans and family members of those not included who will be disappointed by their omission. The Academy extends its understanding and its apologies to those who missed seeing a favourite face in this year’s feature."

FAMILY TIES actress MEREDITH BAXTER has sensationally accused her ex-husband and former co-star DAVID BIRNEY of assaulting her during their 15-year marriage.
The veteran TV star has wed three times and shocked fans when she ‘came out’ as a lesbian in 2009, revealing she had found love with another woman, building contractor Nancy Locke.
And now she’s back to shock again after claiming her marriage to her Bridget Loves Birney co-star was blighted by domestic violence in her explosive new memoir, entitled Untied.
On Tuesday (01Mar11), she returned to the U.S. TV news show where she revealed all about her sexuality two years ago, to open up about her alleged abusive marriage.
When asked during the Today Show chat why she didn’t leave her husband, the 63 year old said, "I didn’t know I had a choice. I didn’t know I could go." Baxter revealed she kept her personal problems to herself while she was working with her husband: "You learn to compartmentalise. As soon as I got to the studio, my home life was not happening. I never talked about it. No one knew anything." But the violence at home became too much for her to bear: "It was so sudden and unexpected, I couldn’t tell you which hand hit me, or even how hard. I do recall thinking, ‘I’d better not get up because he’s going to hit me again.’" Baxter and Birney had three kids together during their marriage.
The actor has yet to respond to his ex-wife’s TV allegations.

KANYE WEST, GRACE JONES and fashion guru KARL LAGERFELD have been turned into hip-hop style pendants by a pair of French jewellery designers.
Kidza and Jeremy have crafted the faces of the icons in black, gold-plated and silver-coloured metal and they hope to take the rap world by storm with the designs, inspired by the ‘Jesus Piece’ jewellery hip-hop stars have been wearing since the 1990s.
The designs also feature images of the late King of Pop Michael Jackson and fashion photographer Terry Richardson.

CHARLIE SHEEN is facing another legal headache - a TV producer is suing him for wrecking plans for a family reality show.
According to a lawsuit Ed Meyer plans to file in Los Angeles later this week (ends04Mar11), Sheen and his parents did "intentionally and tortuously interfere and restrain, and conspire to interfere and restrain" with the plaintiff’s reality TV show Being Sheen, which was to feature the actor’s uncle Joe Estevez.
In the suit, obtained by WENN, Meyer claims he has been trying to get the project off the ground since April 2010 and even started negotiations with the creator of Sheen’s Two and a Half Men sitcom, Chuck Lorre, with a view to landing a role in the show for Estevez - as part of the reality programme.
In the legal papers, the plaintiff claims he has been "damaged" by the defendants’ alleged "wrongful acts", which have prevented him from moving forward with the project.
Meyer is suing Sheen for restraint of trade and interference. He is asking for at least $20 million (£13.3 million) in damages.

50 CENT has donned dreadlocks for his latest movie role, which will premiere this weekend (05Mar11) at the Miami Film Festival in Florida.
The rapper lost 54 pounds (24.4 kilograms) to star in Things Fall Apart, in which he portrays a promising Michigan football star who dreams of one day getting drafted by the Miami Dolphins.
The Social Network actor Cedric Sanders plays the rapper’s brother in the movie, and he insists the In Da Club hitmaker has a great film career ahead of him.
He tells WENN, "I’m proud to have been a part of this film. Working with 50 Cent was truly inspiring. We’d have a break from rehearsals and he would immediately head outside to workout."

KATIE HOLMES has slapped a $50 million (£33.3 million) lawsuit on U.S. tabloid Star over an article which suggested she was a drug addict.
The actress was appalled by the magazine’s cover story, which featured the headline ‘ADDICTION NIGHTMARE - Katie DRUG SHOCKER! - The Real Reason She Can’t Leave Tom’.
The article does not allege any drug use by Holmes, but she still feels the suggestive cover is clearly defamatory, and she has instructed her lawyers to act.
A representative for the Batman Begins star tells TMZ.com, "Star Magazine’s malicious claims about Katie are untrue, unethical and unlawful.
"Not only do they cruelly defame Katie, they play a cheap trick on the public, making ridiculously false claims on the cover unsupported by anything inside."

LINDSAY LOHAN has dismissed reports she’ll be baring all in fashion photographer TERRY RICHARDSON’s new book, insisting she’ll be fully clothed for the shoot.
A British tabloid suggested the troubled actress has signed a deal worth $3.4 million (£2.3 million) to appear nude in shots, alongside Oscars co-host James Franco, for the book.
But Lohan has called the story "absurd", stating, "I’m fully clothed in it." She has also denied reports the tome will feature controversial images like those in Madonna’s Sex book.
The actress adds, "It’s not even close to a sex book."

Rapper DA BRAT has been released from prison after completing a three-year sentence for aggravated assault.
The hip-hop star, real name Shawntae Harris, was convicted for allegedly attacking a waitress at a club in Atlanta, Georgia in 2007, but she walked free from a jail in Alto, Georgia on Monday (28Feb11), according to her mentor and So So Def record boss Jermaine Dupri.
Revealing the news to fans in a post on his Twitter.com blog, Dupri writes, "Happy day for me and all SO SO DEF fans, Da BRAT is finally home."

LADY GAGA’s stylist NICOLA FORMICHETTI will debut his new ready-to-wear collection during fashion king THIERRY MUGLER’s Paris Fashion Week showcase in France on Wednesday (02Mar11).
Gaga will be performing a brand new song at the show after wowing fashion fans with new material at a Mugler event in January (11). Reports suggest she’ll perform the official version of the tune in Paris.

Singer REBA MCENTIRE had mixed emotions on Tuesday (01Mar11) after learning she will be inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame - she shared the happy news with her sick father before he fell into a coma.
The Somebody star, 55, will be recognised in the Modern Era Artist category as part of the class of 2011 alongside fellow honorees, producer Bobby Braddock and honky tonk singer Jean Shepard.
Representatives for the County Music Association made the big announcement in Nashville, Tennessee on Tuesday (01Mar11), but McEntire was unable to attend as she was at her sick father’s bedside in hospital.
In a statement, McEntire says, "I am so appreciative. This is a wonderful honour during a very emotional time in my life." The induction ceremony will take place at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum in Nashville later this year (11).

LAURENCE FISHBURNE’s porn star daughter has been sentenced to rehab after pleading guilty to assault with a deadly weapon.
Montana Fishburne will serve 180 days in a treatment facility after allegedly beating up her boyfriend’s former lover.

Actress ROSARIO DAWSON has revealed her PAUL RUDD crotch-grab at the Independent Spirit Awards wasn’t as comedic as it looked - she was actually protesting his decision to clasp EVA MENDES’ breast onstage.

JAMES FRANCO’s representative has shot down reports the actor fled the Oscars on Sunday night (27Feb11) after falling out with co-host ANNE HATHAWAY and producers during the ceremony.
Reports suggest the actors weren’t exactly best friends backstage at the Academy Awards - and tabloid reports suggest Franco and Hathaway didn’t get along at all.
They appeared all smiles in promotional skits for the Oscars and onstage during the ceremony, although Franco appeared to be less than happy as the evening wore on.
When the show was over, Hathaway partied in Hollywood and joined the Oscar winners who were part of Oprah Winfrey’s post-show TV special, while her co-host jumped on a plane and jetted back to the East Coast to attend classes.
She told Winfrey, "I don’t know if you know, but in addition to hosting the Oscars and being nominated himself, he’s also, like, a student at two different universities… I think he’s out (at class) now… As soon as the show was done he hopped on a plane… I just partied." Franco has yet to speak about his Oscars night experience but sources tell Us Weekly magazine that he and Hathaway grew to "hate each other" during the rehearsals for the Oscars.
A backstage source tells the publication, "She had to provide all the energy." Franco even skipped his own post-Oscars party in Los Angeles, where he had been planning to host a select group of stars and industry executives.
The source says, "He went immediately back to NYC because he was p**sed about how the show went." But a rep for the 127 Hours star, who was also among the losing Best Actor nominees, says, "This is absolutely not true." Meanwhile, Hathaway’s rep says, "Anne had a wonderful experience with him."

LITTLE HOUSE ON THE PRAIRIE star MELISSA GILBERT has split from her husband of 16 years.
The former child star, 46, wed actor Bruce Boxleitner, 60, in 1995 and they are parents to 15-year-old son Michael, in addition to three children from previous relationships.
A statement from the actress reads, "We have loved each other for a very long time and we share four incredible sons together. Troubled CHARLIE SHEEN has challenged the producers of TWO AND A HALF MEN to replace him on the show.
The actor is currently in the middle of a dispute with the TV chiefs, who have scrapped the remainder of the eighth season of the hit show after Sheen went public with his bitter thoughts about series creator Chuck Lorre last week (ends25Feb11).
Reports now suggest for E.R. star John Stamos is being primed to replace Sheen on the show.
Stamos has already shot down the rumours in a tweet, but Sheen thinks there might be more to them - and he’d love to see the actor on the show instead of him.
In a feisty interview with news show Access Hollywood, Sheen challenged the producers to continue the sitcom without him, stating, "Go for it, watch what happens. Oops… I like John (Stamos), but he don’t have what I have and the show sucks if he’s on it."

Actress ISLA FISHER suffered a wardrobe malfunction at an Academy Awards afterparty on Sunday (27Feb11) when her dress strap broke after a particularly enthusiastic embrace with comedian LARRY DAVID.
Fisher was attending the Vanity Fair Oscars Party with her funnyman husband Sacha Baron Cohen when they spotted the Curb Your Enthusiasm star and went over to greet him.
But David hugged the Wedding Crashers beauty a little too passionately and tried to laugh off the accident as Fisher grappled with her fashion mishap.
According to the New York Daily News, David immediately exclaimed, "Don’t blame me! I didn’t do it!"
