R&B singer JASON DERULO has been forced to turn down a collaboration with hit British boyband JLS - because he’s too busy writing tracks for his own album.
The U.K. band has enjoyed stellar chart success since appearing on Simon Cowell’s talent show The X Factor in 2008 - racking up four number one singles and two top-selling records.
The group signed a deal in the U.S. with Jive Records last year (10), and hoped Derulo’s songwriting skills would help launch them Stateside.
But the Whatcha Say hitmaker has had to refuse a duet with the Beat Again stars because of his own hectic schedule.
He tells Britain’s Daily Star, "Right now I’m trying to finish up my album so I wouldn’t go and write a song for someone else. My focus is all on myself.
"I can’t believe JLS are on their third album already. Things are much faster here than in America. People crank out albums one after another, which is awesome.
"I’m always open to collaborating but while my schedule allows me to do a lot it also deters a lot of things I want to do. I have to go with what’s most important at that specific time."

The BLACK EYED PEAS are reportedly planning to raise money for charity by holding a massive show in New York City’s Central Park this summer (11).
The group, fronted by Fergie and will.i.am, is said to have scheduled a fundraising gig for 9 June (11) on the famous Great Lawn, following in the footsteps of stars including Sir Elton John, Bon Jovi, and Simon & Garfunkel, who have all played in the park.
A source tells New York Post gossip column Page Six, "The concert has been set up with Mayor Bloomberg’s office. They want it to rival the concert that Simon & Garfunkel did in Central Park."

BRET MICHAELS ensures his daughter eats a healthy diet and sees a nurse every day in a bid to control her diabetes.
The rocker’s eldest child, Raine, has previously tested for high blood sugar, and Michaels - who has suffered from type-one diabetes since the age of six - admits it was a shock to learn her diagnosis was more serious than doctors first thought.
He reveals the 10 year old is "pretty diabetic" and he and his partner Kristi work hard to make sure Raine stays healthy.
Michaels tells CNN’s chat show host Piers Morgan, "For me, (finding out was) very, very painful. Being a diabetic my whole life and I fight so hard to raise so much money for that cause and I said here’s the bittersweet moment in my life, right here.
"Why I broke down, first of all it’s my daughter… you dont want anything to happen to your kids. When I found out that she had tested before, earlier in life, for high blood sugar, what is known as pre-diabetes… as a dad it rocked my world. She’s my first girl. What was bittersweet in that exact moment is I also have to show strength as this is what I’m fighting for.
"She’s pretty diabetic and we have her on a complete diet and she sees a nurse every day. She’s not a full-blown, type-one diabetic yet, but that’s what we’re fighting, that’s what happens in most kids. I gotta tell her to be positive. We do exercise and we do stuff all the time."

Music mogul TOMMY MOTTOLA is set to become a dad again - his Mexican superstar wife THALIA is expecting the couple’s second child.
The famed music executive, who divorced Mariah Carey in 1998, married the Latina singer/actress in 2000 and they welcomed their first child together, daughter Sabrina, in 2007.
Thalia is now pregnant again, according to the New York Post’s gossip column Page Six.
Mottola has two other children, Michael and Sarah, from a previous relationship.

Rockers SUM 41 have been forced to cancel a series of gigs as frontman DERYCK WHIBLEY battles a severe bout of pneumonia.
The singer fell ill on the Australian leg of the band’s tour and is currently receiving treatment in Sydney, prompting the group to postpone a number of forthcoming concerts.
A statement posted on Sum 41’s website reads: "We regret to inform everyone that we have had to cancel a few shows due to Deryck Whibley being hospitalised with severe pneumonia. Deryck is currently being treated in a Sydney hospital. Doctors are doing their best to beat the pneumonia and Deryck will remain in Sydney until he has recovered." The band has yet to reschedule the dates but the musicians have promised to resume their Screaming Bloody Murder trek once Whibley recovers.
It’s not the first time the Fat Lip hitmakers have been forced to call off gigs for Whibley - he was hospitalised in August (10) after he suffered a slipped disc in a bar brawl in Japan.

LYDIA HEARST has vowed to donate up to $2,500 (£1,666) to a charity offering surgery to children with facial deformities.
The socialite-turned-actress has worked closely with bosses at Operation Smile, which aims to correct cleft lip and cleft pallets in youngsters.
She’s now pledged to donate $1 (66 pence) for every fan who registers on her website, up to a total of $2,500.
In a post on her site, Hearst writes, "Actions speak volumes and make all the difference in the world. Working with and looking into the eyes of the doctors, volunteers, children who have been affected by facial deformities such as cleft lip and cleft pallets and their parents; I want to do everything in my power to help and show support for them in any way possible.
"Traveling (sic) to a foreign country with individuals coming together from various backgrounds from all over the globe, putting their differences behind them in place of one common goal, to help people and change their lives for the better is the goal of Operation Smile. Revolutionising and changing lives is the ultimate goal and I believe the doctors and volunteers more than succeeded in this."

TINA FEY hoped to land a cameo appearance from BILL CLINTON in an upcoming episode of 30 ROCK - but the former U.S. President’s advisers rejected the part before offering it to their boss.
The funnywoman reportedly wrote to Clinton’s representative Doug Band asking if the ex-politician would consider joining the cast of the hit TV show for the 100th episode, which is due to air next month (Apr11).
But Clinton’s camp turned down the slot, and a spokesperson has now confirmed the former world leader wasn’t even told about the offer.

An OSCARS producer has denied deliberately censoring a kiss between JAVIER BARDEM and JOSH BROLIN from the Academy Awards telecast.
The No Country For Old Men co-stars appeared onstage on Sunday (27Feb11) to present a trophy together, greeting one another by dancing and exchanging a kiss.
Home viewers did not see their embrace as the cameras cut to an extended shot of Bardem’s wife Penelope Cruz in the audience - a move which sparked speculation TV bosses wanted to hide the actors’ clinch.
But Bruce Cohen, one of two producers for the show, is adamant he would have been thrilled to broadcast the smooch, insisting it would have made a "great TV moment".
He tells AfterElton.com, "It (the dance and the kiss) was unscripted, and the plan in the (outside broadcast) truck was always to cut to Penelope in the audience applauding Josh’s and Javier’s introduction, so that is what happened, just as they were starting to dance.
"Josh and Javier’s moment (I saw them start to dance, but, to be honest, I have no idea if they kissed - that’s the first I’ve heard of that) would have made a great TV moment, but since no one knew it was coming, we cut to the gorgeous Ms. Cruz as planned. By the time we cut back from her close-up, Josh and Javier were walking to the podium."

JOHN F. KENNEDY, JR.’s former girlfriend CHRISTINA HAAG has opened up about their relationship in a new tell-all book, recalling the late star’s love of danger and a near-death experience during a vacation.
The elder son of assassinated U.S. President John F. Kennedy dated the actress for five years in the 1980s, prior to his marriage to Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy.
Haag has now recalled her time with Kennedy, Jr. in her new memoir, Come to the Edge, and in excerpts published in Vanity Fair magazine, she details a brush with death in Jamaica during a kayaking expedition.
The pair went out on the ocean without life jackets but they were plunged underwater as they attempted to make their way back to shore, and Haag was convinced she was facing death.
She writes, "This is it. This is how it ends. We are going to die together. This is what it means to drown. My lungs hurt, and as we crested a steep wave, I coughed, spat water, and clung to the edge of the boat with my head down. I waited, fully expecting to be flung backward out of the boat, but we made it over. I looked back at him, amazed, and saw that he had never stopped. He’d never given up… and we were coursing past the break to safety." Haag also reveals that after the incident, Kennedy, Jr. was oblivious to the danger they had been in. She told him, "John, we could have died," and he replied, "Yeah, Chief, but what a way to go." Kennedy, Jr. died in a plane crash in 1999.

Sci-fi classic BLADE RUNNER is heading back to the big screen in a major new movie deal which will see the film expanded into a franchise.
Harrison Ford starred as a detective forced out of retirement to hunt down clones in Sir Ridley Scott’s futuristic 1982 tale and Hollywood bosses are now making plans to reboot the Oscar-nominated movie almost 30 years after its release.
Executives at Alcon Entertainment, the production company behind Sandra Bullock’s The Blind Side, are in final negotiations to buy up prequel and sequel rights to the landmark film from original producer Bud Yorkin, with plans to create a new Blade Runner franchise.
Alcon Entertainment co-founders Broderick Johnson and Andrew Kosove say in a statement obtained by Deadline.com, "We are honoured and excited to be in business with Bud Yorkin. This is a major acquisition for our company, and a personal favourite film for both of us. We recognise the responsibility we have to do justice to the memory of the original with any prequel or sequel we produce. We have long-term goals for the franchise…" Yorkin will reportedly serve as producer on the new movies.

Director JULIE TAYMOR has spoken out about her struggles with SPIDER-MAN: TURN OFF THE DARK, insisting she is "in the crucible" as she tries to get the show on track.
The $65 million (£43 million) Broadway musical has been plagued by delays, on-set accidents and scathing reviews, and Taymor admits the ongoing problems have taken their toll on her emotions.
According to the New York Times, Taymor told the TED2011 conference in California, "Anyone who creates knows when it’s not quite there. Where it hasn’t quite become the phoenix or the burnt char. And I am right there… I am in the crucible right now. It is my trial by fire. It’s my company’s trial by fire." Despite the production’s problems, Taymor is convinced she and her "beautiful collaborators" have what it takes to improve the musical.
She adds, "It’s right there in the palm of my hands. In all of my company’s hands. I have beautiful collaborators. We as collaborators only get there all together. I know you understand that. You stay there going forward and you see this extraordinary thing right in front of your eyes." Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark is scheduled to officially open on 15 March (11).

Australian star MATTHEW NEWTON has been hospitalised in Sydney just a day after appearing in court to answer allegations he breached an apprehended violence order (AVO) by trying to contact his ex-girlfriend, actress RACHAEL TAYLOR.
Newton, who recently completed a five-month in-patient stint in rehab, was admitted to Westmead Hospital on Thursday morning (03Mar11) suffering from an acute abdominal illness, according to Australia’s Seven network.
The 34 year old was taken to the facility by ambulance from a rehab clinic in Wentworthville, where he is continuing to receive care, and was diagnosed with stress-related stomach inflammation.
Newton’s lawyer Chris Murphy writes in a post on Twitter.com, "(The) stress of recent events is having a damaging effect on Matt Newton’s health… Northside West Clinic rushed Matthew Newton by ambulance to Westmead Hospital today. After 12hrs (hours) he is being returned to the clinic." The Transformers star won the AVO against Newton last year (10) after accusing him of several "unprovoked violent assaults" during a vacation in Europe in August (10). He was arrested in February (11) and appeared before a judge on Wednesday (02Mar11) to face claims he broke the rules by telephoning his former fiancee and sending her text messages.
During the hearing, Newton’s lawyer revealed the actor is suffering from a psychiatric illness and asked for the legal matter to be dealt with under the Mental Health Act.
Newton’s case will head back to court next month (Apr11) for a mental health hearing.

Hollywood moguls BOB and HARVEY WEINSTEIN have been accused of sabotaging a failed movie in a new $50 million (£33 million) lawsuit - and paying its makers to keep the matter quiet ahead of this year’s (11) Academy Awards.
Filmmaker Tony Leech and producer Brian Inerfeld are suing the Weinstein Company over claims their animated movie Escape From Planet Earth was "sabotaged… through a potent combination of hubris, incompetence, profligate spending, and contempt for contractual obligations".
In the lawsuit, which was filed on Wednesday (02Mar11), the duo is also accused of paying the plaintiffs $500,000 (£333,000) to wait until after the Oscars on Sunday (28Feb11) to take legal action.
The King’s Speech, which was distributed by the Weinsteins’ firm, ruled the ceremony after scooping four Oscars, including Best Picture.
According to the suit, the Weinsteins allege the $500,000 payment was extorted, which Leech and Inerfeld deny.
Lawyers for the Weinsteins have dismissed the case as "frivolous" and "slanderous", claiming the filmmakers were "let go after they refused to make the picture which TWC wanted" and were paid more than $2 million (£1.3 million) in accordance with their contract.

The couple’s publicists have denied reports of a romance, but the story refuses to die because they keep being spotted together.
Johansson, who split from husband Ryan Reynolds in December (10), was photographed resting her foot affectionately on Penn’s lap during a lunch date in Los Angeles on Monday (28Feb11), and now the two stars have been spotted holidaying together in Mexico.
According to People.com, the pair left on a private jet from Van Nuys airport on Tuesday morning (01Mar11) and were spotted dining in Cabo San Lucas later that night.

KATE WINSLET has fired off a hilarious and foul-mouthed rant aimed at pal MELISSA LEO after the actress blamed the Brit for her expletive-laced Oscars acceptance speech on Sunday (27Feb11).
Leo made Academy Awards history when she became the first star to utter the ‘F’ word onstage at the Oscars, and has since blamed Winslet for the slip-up.

BRET MICHAELS has urged his longtime friend CHARLIE SHEEN to "work out those demons" amid his much-publicised personal problems, insisting: "We all need help".
Trouble is mounting in the actor’s personal life and career - the Wall Street star lost custody of his two sons on Tuesday (01Mar11), just hours after his estranged wife Brooke Mueller won a restraining order against him. He was also hospitalised in January (11) following a wild night of partying with hookers, before undergoing a rehab stint at his Los Angeles home.
Meanwhile, CBS chiefs have scrapped the remainder of the eighth season of his hit show Two and a Half Men after Sheen went public with his criticisms of series creator Chuck Lorre last week (ends27Feb11).
But as Sheen continues to hit headlines, Michaels has jumped to his defence and pledged to help his friend.
Describing the 45 year old as a "really great guy", the rocker used his appearance on Piers Morgan Tonight on Wednesday (02Mar11) to urge Sheen’s critics to "stop blaming the drugs" and support him as he works out his issues.
He says, "The Charlie I know is a really great guy that openly admits he fights demons. The same drive that makes (him) be nothing but great with the public and acting is the same drive that can make you crazy. Anytime I’ve been around him - and we’ve had great times, partied together - never once have I had a bad experience. Never once when I was with him did I think, ‘Oh my god…’ "The same stuff that makes him creative and great is the same stuff that can probably make him snap and it’s a tough time he’s going through and as a friend he’s been nothing but great to me.
"We all need help. I think that someone has gotta stop blaming the drugs. It’s happened to me… sometimes you gotta look beyond the drugs, the drugs just mask what’s going on. The help has to be way beyond - going to a couple of weeks of rehab isn’t gonna fix it.
"I dont think there is (a short fix), long fix is working out those demons whatever they are. That’s what the answer is. I wouldn’t wanna see my best friend or worst enemy go through what the demons are that you gotta fight like that."

Pregnant actress JESSICA ALBA gave up her time on Wednesday (02Mar11) to volunteer at a children’s reading project in Washington, D.C.
The star, who is expecting her second baby later this year (11), took her two-year-old daughter Honor along to the Read Across America initiative at the Library of Congress.
She treated a group of youngsters to a re-telling of Dr. Seuss classic The Cat In The Hat and posed with her captivated audience for a photo, which she posted on her Twitter.com page.
In an accompanying post, Alba writes, "Read The Cat In The Hat to 3rd graders. Read across America event. Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss! So fun! Amazing event 2day & across our country." Speaking at the event, which was also attended by U.S. First Lady Michelle Obama and actress Bridget Moynahan, Alba told USA Today, "I support any literacy program. I read to my daughter. We love books, she loves Dr. Seuss, so that will be fun for her to participate in this event."

Rocker KEITH RICHARDS’ model daughter has been ordered to attend a court hearing next month (Apr11) on drug and graffiti charges.
Theodora Richards, 25, was arrested after police allegedly caught her defacing public property in New York on Tuesday night (01Mar11).
Cops are also said to have found marijuana and a controlled substance during a body search after she was taken into custody.
She chose not to enter a plea and was released after her arraignment hearing, according to the Associated Press.
Richards is next due in court on 21 April (11).
