SHEEN LANDS A MILLION TWITTER FOLLOWERS IN A DAY

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:29 pm

Embattled TV star CHARLIE SHEEN has shattered Twitter records after amassing a million followers in a day.
According to the confirmed figures released by the Guinness Book of World Records, it took Sheen 25 hours and 17 minutes to reach the historic figure overnight between 1 and 2 March (11).
USA Today reports he managed the feat with the help of staff at online celebrity endorsement firm Ad.ly, who secured the actor’s verified account and then spent hours teaching Sheen how to make the most of the micro-blogging website.
Sheen, who is currently out of work after production on his hit sitcom Two and a Half Men was suspended indefinitely, has called the initiative "a cash cow".
In a tweet to fans on his new account, Sheen wrote, "In all sincerity… Thank you Twitter community for the warm reception & the followers that helped get me to 1M (million) in 24 hours!!!"

SHEEN CALLS ON ESTRANGED WIFE TO MATCH HIM DRUG TEST FOR DRUG TEST

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:26 pm

Actor CHARLIE SHEEN has challenged his estranged wife to a drug-test dual in a bid to prove he’s the better parent to look after the couple’s twin sons.
Brooke Mueller obtained an emergency restraining order to keep the actor away from her and their kids late on Tuesday (01Mar11) - and the children were removed from his care.
Sheen has since taken to TV to plead with his soon-to-be ex to let him know where little Bob and Max are - and work out their differences.
But now he’s challenging her to prove she’s a better parent than he is, as the actor continues at-home rehab treatment after a wild party got out of control in January (11) and ended with Sheen being hospitalised for an apparent hernia.
The Wall Street star has passed four drugs tests in four days - and invited website RadarOnline.com to film his latest, stating, "I’ll match her test for test - I have nothing to hide." Sheen insists his estranged wife, who has allegedly battled her own substance abuse problems, is not as "clean" as he is.
Meanwhile, Judge Hank M. Goldberg has stripped Sheen of his custody and issued a restraining order that prohibits the actor from having any contact with Mueller or coming within 100 yards of her or the kids. The ban was put in place after Mueller claimed, in legal papers, that he had been abusive towards her and once threatened to cut off her head.
Filmed handing over the boys late on Tuesday night, a defiant Sheen told RadarOnline.com, "My sons are fine… My path is now clear… Defeat is not an option!"

LOWE HINTS BARTON WAS AN ‘AWFUL’ HOUSE GUEST

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:26 pm

British model DAISY LOWE has quit the London house she shared with JAIME WINSTONE because of their wild parties, insisting it was "awful" when troubled actress MISCHA BARTON slept on their couch.
The daughter of rockers Pearl Lowe and Gavin Rossdale teamed up with Ray Winstone’s offspring to pay the rent on an apartment in the British capital.
Barton revealed last year (10) she was using the property as a base to be close to boyfriend Ali Love, with Winstone boasting that their home had become a party magnet, saying, "We love throwing wild house parties that go on for days, with random people sleeping everywhere." And Lowe has confessed the bashes became too much for her to deal with - claiming her time with Barton as a house guest was "awful".
She tells Britain’s GQ magazine, "It became a bit too much of a party house. I’m not very good at staying up late and drinking or any of that stuff. It sort of freaks me out. I guess from being around it as a kid." When quizzed about Barton’s stay, she quips, "(I’m) just not going to talk about that. That awful scenario. Never again."

JOEL WILL ADDRESS SUBSTANCE ABUSE IN MEMOIRS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:23 pm

BILLY JOEL will open up about his highly-publicised battle with booze in an upcoming autobiography, just weeks after SIR ELTON JOHN went public with his concerns for his pal’s heavy drinking problems in a candid magazine interview.
Elton risked the wrath of his on/off tour mate earlier this year (11) when he revealed his frustrations over Joel’s love of alcohol in a Rolling Stone article, in which he suggested concerts had been cancelled because of the Piano Man’s issues.
Joel brushed off the controversy as "Elton just being Elton" but the outburst appears to have prompted the American rocker to come clean about his drinking and his turbulent life in his memoirs.
In The Book of Joel, due for release on 14 June (11), the rock legend will take fans on an "emotional ride" as he addresses his failed marriages, his struggle with depression and his substance abuse problems.
A statement from publishers at HarperCollins reads, "There is a lot in this book that he has never revealed before."

CAREY ‘EMBARRASSED’ OVER GADDAFI GIG

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:23 pm

Red-faced MARIAH CAREY has offered to hand over profits from her next single to a human rights charity after feeling "horrible and embarrassed" about performing a private concert for Libyan leader MUAMMAR GADDAFI’s family.
Superstars including Beyonce and Nelly Furtado have handed over the $1 million (£666,670) fees they received for playing gigs at parties hosted by the dictator’s son and entourage to charity in protest over the way the leader has handled the growing unrest in the Middle Eastern country.
Carey and Usher also faced calls for them to hand over their payments to charity, and now a rep for the Hero hitmaker has apologised and insisted the star had no clue she was playing for Gaddafi’s clan when she accepted the concert deal.
Carey has now pledged to hand over the profits of a new song from her upcoming album to a human rights charity.
Gaddafi has become one of the world’s least popular leaders in recent weeks after refusing to give up power in Libya, despite ongoing protests. As a result, many nations have imposed sanctions on Libya in a bid to force the tyrant to listen to his people and resign from office.

LA TOYA JACKSON SPEAKING OUT AGAINST DOMESTIC VIOLENCE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:18 pm

Singer LA TOYA JACKSON has urged women trapped in abusive relationships to "walk away" after allegedly suffering in silence for years at the hands of her ex-husband and former manager JACK GORDON.
Michael Jackson’s older sister claims she was forced into the 1987 marriage against her will, and was reportedly subjected to domestic violence throughout the union. She filed for divorce in 1997.
La Toya has previously accused Gordon of beating her so badly during one heated altercation, she lost consciousness and was allegedly left for dead.
The singer admits it was only after she worked up the courage to leave her husband that she was finally able to find her voice, and she taken it upon herself to encourage other women in similar situations to break free.
In an interview with U.S. talk show host Wendy Williams on Thursday (03Mar11), she says, "(There was) a lot of abuse, he was hitting me constantly… I’m starting over, now I can be me…

CAVILL CLOSE TO QUITTING BEFORE BOND

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:17 pm

New SUPERMAN HENRY CAVILL considered quitting acting as he struggled to land roles, but was persuaded to pursue his dreams when he was shortlisted to play JAMES BOND.
The Brit, who will star as the Man of Steel in Zack Snyder’s upcoming superhero reboot, was despondent with his stalled career after he was repeatedly snubbed by casting directors.
Cavill admits he was tempted to give up acting altogether - until he was put in the running for the superspy role.
He tells Britain’s Empire magazine, "(I) used to be the unluckiest man. I was actually very close to throwing in the towel (quitting) before the Bond screen test happened.
"The test kept me in the industry. As soon as I got it, I thought, ‘There’s a reason to stick around. I’m not just wasting my time here.’" Cavill lost out on the role of 007 to Daniel Craig.

VON FURSTENBERG SYMPATHISES WITH GALLIANO

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:17 pm

Fashion mogul DIANE VON FURSTENBERG has condemned disgraced designer JOHN GALLIANO’s alleged anti-Semitic rants as "unacceptable", although she’s convinced her "fragile" friend was "provoked" into making the comments.
Galliano is facing trial for allegedly hurling racist insults at a couple in a Paris bar last week (24Feb11). A video showing him praising Nazi leader Adolf Hitler in another drunken bar rant emerged shortly after, prompting claims the designer is anti-Jew.
As a result of the drama and it’s fall-out, Galliano was fired as head couturier at Christian Dior on Tuesday (01Mar11) - a decision that has split the fashion world.
Chanel boss Karl Lagerfeld slammed Galliano for bringing shame on the industry, while Sex & the City stylist Patricia Field expressed her support for the shamed star.
Now Von Furstenberg has waded into the scandal - she’s disgusted by Galliano’s offensive remarks, but admits she can’t help but feel some sympathy for the disgraced designer.
In an interview on U.S. breakfast show Good Morning America on Thursday (03Mar11), she says, "It is a tragedy. First of all, let me tell you, I’m a Holocaust survivor; my mother, at the age of 20, was in a camp, so clearly, I cannot accept (his comments). I mean, the things that were said by him (are) completely, totally unacceptable.
"Having said that, John, as I know him, is a very sensitive, very fragile person, so I think he was to some degree provoked. I think he was laughed at and he appears… like, at least watching the tape, a child in a cage and trying to do, say things that he doesn’t mean to defend himself.
"So definitely what he said is unacceptable, but I also know that he is a totally fragile, loving, wonderful artist and I think that to some degree, he was provoked." Meanwhile, Lady Gaga, who strutted her stuff on the catwalk for Thierry Mugler’s Paris Fashion Week show on Wednesday (02Mar11), is refusing to comment on the drama surrounding Galliano.
When asked by a CNN reporter to comment on the furore, she replies, "Let’s skip that question. Let’s keep it positive." And there has been no comment so far from supermodel Kate Moss, who recently revealed she’d chosen Galliano to design her wedding dress for her July (11) nuptials.

TRUMP WARNED MUELLER’S PARENTS ABOUT SHEEN

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:29 pm

DONALD TRUMP has revealed he warned BROOKE MUELLER’s parents not to let their daughter marry CHARLIE SHEEN.
The actor exchanged vows with his third wife in 2008 and they became parents to twin boys in 2009, but a bust-up between the pair later that year (09) resulted in an assault conviction and jail time for the star, and the couple subsequently split.
Trump has now revealed he knows Mueller’s parents, as they are members of his Florida country club, and he warned them about the troubled actor.
He tells TV host David Letterman, "I really got to know (Sheen) fairly well… (Brooke Mueller’s parents), they were all excited (about the wedding). And I said, you know, I told the parents, ‘I think he’s a wonderful guy, I really like him a lot but you cannot let your daughter marry him’. (They said) ‘Oh, he’s Charlie Sheen, he’s wonderful, he’s such a wonderful guy… ‘ I said, ‘Listen, you can’t do it.’ And they got married and it wasn’t one of the greater marriages."

CRYER MOCKS SHEEN SITUATION ON TV

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:29 pm

CHARLIE SHEEN’s TWO AND A HALF MEN co-star JON CRYER has made fun of his precarious employment situation by signing up as an intern on the THE ELLEN DEGENERES SHOW.
Production on the hit sitcom was brought to a halt earlier this year (11) by Sheen’s health issues and personal problems, and the remainder of series eight was scrapped last month (Feb11) after the actor’s feud with series creator Chuck Lorre went public.
Cryer has refused to comment on Sheen’s antics over recent months, but has now addressed his work issues in a light-hearted skit for DeGeneres’ U.S. talk show - appearing as a programme intern because he "needed the work".
In the episode, due to air in America on Thursday (03Mar11), DeGeneres is seen telling Cryer, "You really do good work. You do the work of two and a half men," while the actor replies, "You don’t have to say that every time… You know, I needed the work."

CHINA REVIEWS DYLAN GIGS APPLICATION

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:29 pm

BOB DYLAN’s application to play a series of shows in China is under review by officials - a year after authorities refused the folk legend permission to perform in the communist country.
The Blowin’ in the Wind hitmaker had planned to take his Never Ending Tour to China last April (10), but the country’s government failed to grant him approval for dates in Beijing and Shanghai.
The move prompted Dylan to scrap the rest of his Asian tour dates.
The singer has put in a new application, according to reports, and an official from China’s Ministry of Culture tells the Associated Press a decision is now pending.
Chinese authorities are especially strict when vetting foreign artists who want to put on shows after Bjork made an onstage protest about the country’s occupation of Tibet during a 2008 gig.
Dylan is believed to be classed as a controversial act to perform in China because of his politically-charged lyrics and support for the 1960s U.S. protests movement.
