DA BRAT WROTE BOOK IN PRISON

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:23 pm

Rapper DA BRAT used her three-year stint behind bars to write a book about her troubled upbringing.
The hip-hop star, real name Shawntae Harris, was convicted of aggravated assault in 2008 for attacking a waitress at a club in Atlanta, Georgia the previous year (07). She walked free from jail on Monday (28Feb11) and has now opened up about her time in prison - insisting she "made the best" of her incarceration.
She tells Vibe magazine, "They had a lot of things for us to do. We went out to rec and played sports. They had auto paint and auto body, they had computer classes. It was almost like a college situation, except you can’t leave. I wrote a book. I did quite a few things. Then I became a third shift orderly where at night I stayed up with a crew of homegirls and we cleaned the showers, buffed the floors, we had our headphones on bumping our CDs. We made the best of it…" And Da Brat reveals fans will be given a glimpse into her past when she releases her book, adding, "It starts off talking about my life and growing up. How I was selling dope for a hot second, was in a gang for a hot second. My father was a gangster. Just different things. I was in a church playing drums. I want people to know there isn’t just one side of Brat. I’m not just a rapper. It goes through my whole life story and could possible be a movie. So I’m just putting the finishing touches on it now."

FIASCO’S MIXED FEELINGS ABOUT LASERS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:23 pm

Rapper LUPE FIASCO can’t help but "hate" his new album LASERS - because the music reminds him of his battle with label executives to secure the record’s release.
The hip-hop star’s third album was mired in delays following a dispute with bosses at Atlantic Records, who shelved the project after it was completed in 2009.
It was only after furious fans launched an online petition for Lasers’ release that Atlantic bosses finally decided to put out the disc, which hits stores next week (08Mar11).
But the Superstar hitmaker admits the victory is bittersweet because of the long-running struggle he was forced to endure.
He tells Britain’s Guardian, "I hate this album. I don’t hate the music, but I hate the process. When I look at it, I don’t see song titles and artwork, I see the fight - I see the emotions, the blood, sweat and tears.
"There are a couple of songs on there that I love; but Lasers is a little bit of what you love, a little bit of what you like, and a lot of what you had to do."

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:17 pm

British royal PRINCE HARRY has cancelled an upcoming trip to Dubai due to the current unrest in the Middle East.
The 26-year-old son of Charles, Prince of Wales was due to jet to the United Arab Emirates later this month (Mar11) to take part in a charity polo match to raise money for Sentebale, an organisation which helps vulnerable children in Lesotho.

The statement reads, "Prince Harry will no longer be making his planned visit to Dubai on 19th March. As a consequence, the Sentebale Polo Cup - scheduled to coincide with Prince Harry’s visit - has been cancelled. LOVATO’S TV SHOW GETS A NAME CHANGE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:17 pm

TV bosses have changed the name of DEMI LOVATO’s comedy series SONNY WITH A CHANCE, sparking rumours she has been permanently dropped from the cast.
The singer/actress, who plays the title character, was admitted to rehab last year (10) to address undisclosed personal problems and she was written out of the programme when it became clear she would not be able to return to filming in January (11).
Disney bosses insisted Lovato’s departure was temporary and she would be able to rejoin the cast once she was well enough.
But it has now emerged the show’s name will be changed to So Random for its third season, fuelling rumours Lovato’s exit will be made permanent.
Her co-star Brandon Mychal Smith says, "With a show like ours, and any great show that I’ve seen in the past, like The Wire or Seinfeld, each season you focus on a different concept, a different theory, or maybe a different character’s background.
"Season one we established who we were - you saw some mini sketches, you saw who the characters were and how they mingled and intertwined. Season two you were able to see more of the relationship between Sonny and Chad and how they got into it and how we didn’t like it, and you saw some of Mackenzie Falls and that aspect.
"And now this season you’ll be able to see So Random, see why we are where we are today in regards to being the teen idols that we are. You’ll be able to see how we bring the funny (sic) every week."

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:26 pm

MATT DAMON spent most of the TRUE GRIT shoot in the air - he regularly flew home to New York from the film’s set in Texas to see his family.
The actor hates being separated from his wife, Luciana Barroso, and their children and insists on a "two-week rule" when he takes on any movie jobs - telling his bosses he cannot go more than 14 days without seeing his loved ones.
And True Grit directors Joel and Ethan Coen happily accommodated Damon’s home life by fixing his schedule so he could jet to the Big Apple at least once a week.
The actor tells CNN’s Piers Morgan, "We don’t do well when we’re apart and I don’t wanna be apart from my kids.
"For instance (with) True Grit, my deal with Joel and Ethan was I told them about the two-week rule and they scheduled the movie so that I was actually never away from the family for more than one week.
"I was like a travelling salesman - I’d get up, go over to Newark (New Jersey airport), catch the flight, go to Texas, work for two days and turn around."

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:23 pm

GEORGE CLOONEY’s plans to release his own scent have vaporised after cosmetic company bosses refused to commit to a multi-million dollar deal, according to U.S. reports.
The Hollywood hunk met with perfume experts at Coty Inc. about creating his own male fragrance line. According to New York Post gossip column Page Six, the star’s negotiators wanted to sign a contract to release several scents over a number of years - and demanded at least $30 million (£20 million) for the deal.

JESSIE J IN AGONY OVER PAIN OF FAME

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:23 pm

British chart-topper JESSIE J is suffering physical pain for her fame as her body struggles to adjust to her "exhausting" schedule.
The singer, real name Jessica Ellen Cornish, shot to stardom in the U.K. last year (10) and insists she is surprised by the physical demands of performing on stage night after night.
She says, "I’ve had to teach my body to sleep much less than it is used to. Doing a gig is like going to the gym. Then you have to do a photoshoot and go to the studio. It is all very physical. Walking in high heels is exercise and that is part of my daily routine. My body is adjusting. It’s like I’m in celebrity boot camp." But the star, who has been diagnosed with an irregular heartbeat and suffered a stroke four years ago, refuses to complain about her job, adding: "It’s exhausting but it’s something I’m getting used to. I think it’s like having a baby. You can’t really moan because half the world has done it. Being an artist, you can’t really moan because every artist has gone through this. The first two years are the busiest and the hardest, the most emotional and exhausting of your career. Whenever I have a little moan, I tell myself to look sharp and get on with it."

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:20 pm

LADY GAGA broke down in tears during a concert on Thursday (03Mar11) after performing an emotional rendition of her song BORN THIS WAY with a 10-year-old fan.
The pop star last month (Feb11) invited Maria Aragon to join her on tour as she was so impressed with a YouTube clip of the little girl singing the track.

After Aragon thanked the crowd and left the stage, Gaga could be seen weeping and taking time to compose herself before continuing the concert. She later took to her Twitter.com blog to post a picture of herself wearing a t-shirt with Aragon’s face on as she stood next to the girl backstage.
Gaga writes, "Myself +10 year old Lady Maria of Winnipeg. She signed my t-shirt, she ate my heart, just like you." After the show, Aragon said, "Lady Gaga is really big and she’s so amazing. Being supported how she was supported up there made me feel really great."
