COOPER’S FRIENDSHIP WITH DE NIRO HAS BEEN A LONG TIME COMING

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 2:50 am

BRADLEY COOPER is thrilled about finally becoming one of ROBERT DE NIRO’s friends - because the movie icon has played a major role in his life.
The two stars have teamed up to make new movie Limitless and now De Niro accepts The Hangover star’s calls - just years after a strange meeting with his hero in a Los Angeles hotel suite.
Cooper reveals he auditioned to play De Niro’s son in 2009 film Everybody’s Fine, but lost out to Sam Rockwell.
He felt like a winner, however, when De Niro got hold of his audition tape and arranged for a meeting in Beverly Hills.
Cooper recalls, "The director wouldn’t even see me, but we have the same agent… and he got my tape and he called me in to meet him.
"He (De Niro) says, ‘Yeah, um, I saw that tape and you’re not gonna get it (the role), but I see it, I see you… OK, thanks for coming…’ and then he hugged me, a really wonderful hug.
"And he said, ‘Who was reading the other role?’ and I said, ‘My mother,’ and he said, ‘Yeah, I thought that.’ "I got in the car outside and my mother said, ‘How did it go?’ and I said, ‘Well, I didn’t get it but he said I have it.’" Cooper met De Niro again at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York a year later - but the Raging Bull star he had no idea who he was.
But then Cooper found himself pitching his new movie to his hero: "Cut to I’m sitting in his hotel in L.A. trying to talk him into Limitless… I pitched him on it… and he signed on to do it. Now I love him; I talk to him way too much." But the pair’s history doesn’t end there - Cooper also had an encounter with De Niro at grad school: "I went to the Actors Studio… and he came to our school and I asked him a question, so, like, I have this whole history - that he’s not even aware of - that I have with him."

DAMON BLASTS OBAMA

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 2:47 am

Hollywood star MATT DAMON has taken aim at U.S. President BARACK OBAMA for failing to fulfil his promises since he was voted into office.
The Bourne Identity actor campaigned heavily for Obama to win the presidential race in 2008, but he admits he now feels let down by his failure to fix America’s economy and unemployment levels.
He tells Britain’s The Independent On Sunday, "I think he’s rolled over to Wall Street completely. The economy has huge problems. We still have all these banks that are too big to fail. They’re bigger and making more money than ever. Unemployment at 10 per cent? It’s terrible… They had a chance that they don’t have any more to stand up for things. They’ve probably squandered that at this point. They’ll probably just make whatever deals they can to try and get elected again." And Damon, whose mother is a teacher, has also been left unimpressed with Obama’s handling of education in the country: "They have to get people who actually know about educating kids in positions of power.
"Now they’re trying to get business people to come and manage schools like they’re factories. It’s not going to work."

The band disintegrated in 2009 following an explosive argument between the siblings backstage at a concert in France and Liam has gone on to form new group Beady Eye, while Noel is working on a solo career.
The pair hasn’t spoken since the bust-up, but Liam is convinced they will eventually make up and he’s convinced he will be the one who takes the first step in making amends.
Liam tells Jam magazine, "I hope it’ll happen. It will be sad if it doesn’t. I’m not missing him yet. I’m sure he’s not missing me yet. I’ll probably make the first call and will probably get the phone put down on me. I’m a big man and I can take it."

GAY MARGOLYES HATES PLAYING LESBIANS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 2:41 am

Gay HARRY POTTER actress MIRIAM MARGOLYES hates playing lesbians in films and TV dramas because she is terrified of acting out same-sex kisses.

And Margolyes puts her fear down to her worry that her ’straight’ co-stars will think she is attracted to them.
She explains, "I don’t like playing lesbians. I am a lesbian, but I don’t like playing them. I loath kissing women on stage or on screen. Absolutely loathe it. And I’ll tell you why, it’s because I don’t want them to think that I fancy them."

DISNEY BOSS SCARED BAMBI STAR TO GET DEATH SCENE PERFECT

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 2:41 am

The child star who voiced BAMBI in Disney’s 1942 classic movie was told his real mum was in peril, so he’d sound authentically panicked for the film’s pivotal death scene.
Former child star Donnie Dunagan was in the studio recording his voice for the scene in which Bambi’s mother is shot by hunters and his mother had to excuse herself to run an errand - and animators pounced on the opportunity to really worry the six year old.
Dunagan recalls, "They said, ‘Your mother is in trouble, call for your mother,’ and I said, ‘Wait a minute, I just saw my mom and she looks fine.’ "A very astute man behind me said, ‘Your mother is in trouble here in the studio; we’re gonna put you on the speaker, call for your mother…’ I believed she was in trouble.
"He probably shouldn’t have done that but it works fine and he hugged me later." Appearing on TV show The View on Friday (04Mar11), Dunagan revealed he quit acting at the age of 12 and became a legal orphan after falling out with his family.
He later served in the Marines and became a commanding officer.

CORNISH LEARNING SPANISH FOR FILM ROLE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 2:38 am

Aussie actress ABBIE CORNISH is learning Spanish for her new movie THE GIRL - because more than 70 per cent of her dialogue in the immigration drama is in a foreign language.
The Stop-Loss star plays a 25-year-old Texan who smuggles Mexicans into America to earn extra cash - and she thought it would be better if she took the trouble to learn Spanish for the film, rather than speak it phonetically.
She tells WENN, "It’s quite a challenging film as I’ve had to learn to speak Spanish and I don’t know how to speak it at all. It’s an incredible feat because I’ve only got a couple of months to prepare.
"I just think it will be authentic if I could learn as much as I can before I get there because then at least I understand what I’m saying. I go to Mexico soon to spend time with the young girl (co-star) Maritza, who doesn’t speak a word of English and is a non-actor and a native. It’s pretty awesome.
"I’m actually really excited and I love places because I love to travel and I’ve never been to Mexico. I love that energy where the culture and the life is so vibrant."

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 2:38 am

Representatives for late designer ALEXANDER MCQUEEN’s fashion house have shot down reports they’re creating princess-to-be KATE MIDDLETON’s wedding gown.
The fashion world is abuzz with rumours regarding the future royal’s dress, but her spokespeople are refusing to reveal the identity of the chosen designer - because they want it to remain a secret up to the big day next month (Apr11).
But Alexander McQueen’s stylists have ruled themselves out of the race, denying reports suggesting they’ve landed the honour.
McQueen’s creative director Sarah Burton was said to be the woman behind the gown, but the company’s spokeswoman Myriam Coudoux says, "This is not true." Burton has also denied the Sunday Times story.
Hongyi Huang, the head of PR for McQ, the house’s contemporary clothing line, also denied the report.
Meanwhile, a royal family spokesman has added to the mystery over the chosen designer, stating, "We’re not commenting on the specific designer for the dress, because Catherine Middleton wishes to keep the designer a secret until the wedding day." She’ll wed Prince William at Westminster Abbey in London on 29 April (11).

PENN THANKS CHAVEZ FOR HAITIAN HELP

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 12:23 am

SEAN PENN has sparked fresh political controversy by heaping praise on Venezuelan President HUGO CHAVEZ for supporting his Haiti relief charity JP Haitian Relief Organization.
The movie star and activist met with Chavez in Caracas on Saturday (05Mar11) and later told reporters the politician’s aid has helped his humanitarian work in earthquake-ravaged Haiti.
Penn has sparked protest in the past by meeting with and befriending Chavez, who is considered a diplomatic outcast in the U.S.
The U.S. and Venezuela have been without ambassadors since December (10), when Chavez formally rejected the White House’s nominee for envoy in a diplomatic dispute. The U.S. government revoked the visa of Venezuelan Ambassador Bernardo Alvarez in response.
But Chavez’s thoughts and feelings do not extend to Penn.
Speaking outside the presidential palace after their latest meeting, the Venezuelan leader complimented his friend for his "new plans" and ideas, and said, "Sean is an activist of the struggles for the world’s oppressed peoples, and he’s leaving for Haiti right now." Penn is preparing to meet another controversial figure in Haiti when Charlie Sheen flies out to offer a publicity boost next week (beg07Mar11).
Sheen has been all over the media in the last few weeks as he battles personal and professional problems and he recently revealed he is set to put his raised profile to good use by jetting to the Caribbean nation on a humanitarian mission with Penn.
Penn has confirmed Sheen plans to help boost publicity for the JP Haitian Relief Organization, which Penn set up in the aftermath of last year’s (10) earthquake, and the Milk star insists his friend will be an asset to the team.
A statement from Penn reads, "I think his energies, intelligence and passion could be both of service and servicing to him, as it is to all who are touched by the struggle of the Haitian people. Charlie is one of the very few public people who cannot be accused of using the media to his own benefit. I would very much like to show my old friend the world of needs on the ground in Haiti, and introduce him and his tremendous wit to our hard working Haitian staff."

SHEEN BROADCASTS INTERNET SHOW

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 12:20 am

Embattled TV star CHARLIE SHEEN launched his own Internet TV show on Saturday (05Mar11) and spent an hour rambling on about his life and loves.
At one point, the Two and a Half Men star had 116,000 viewers.
During the Ustream.TV show, titled Sheen’s Korner, the actor chatted with friends and frolicked with girlfriend Natalie Kenly. He also showed off a new tattoo on his arm - the word ‘winning’, which he has used countless times in TV and radio interviews as he wages a war of words with the producers of his hit sitcom following their decision, last month (Feb11), to cancel the rest of the eighth season of the show - and his estranged wife Brooke Mueller.
Sheen also read from his book of published poetry and promoted a string of products direct to camera.
He enjoyed the experience so much, he told fans he’d like to stage Sheen’s Korner from his home daily - but there are no plans for any more broadcasts.
Sheen also hit the satellite airwaves on Friday (04Mar11) and Saturday (05Mar11) - bosses at America’s Sirius XM dedicated 24 hours of programming to breaking news about the actor on the Tiger Blood Radio channel.
The initiative came after Sheen appeared on Howard Stern’s Sirius show this past week (beg28Feb11) and the shock jock urged the actor to put a microphone in his home so he can speak to fans over the airwaves whenever he has something to say.
The embattled TV star has been a big hit on TV and radio across America this past week as he talks about his tumultuous personal life and professional problems - a candid interview with Sheen earned news show 20/20 its biggest ratings in two years when it aired on Tuesday night (01Mar11).

AGUILERA EMBROILED IN SONG LAWSUIT

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 12:20 am

CHRISTINA AGUILERA is embroiled in a lawsuit over allegations bosses at her record label sampled a 1968 song in her track AIN’T NO OTHER MAN without paying the rightful owner.
The singer’s hit single reportedly uses a beat from Dave Cortez and the Moon People’s soul song Hippy Skippy Moon Strut.
According to legal papers, filed in New York, TufAmerica bought the exclusive rights to the original song in 2004, but Aguilera’s label bosses at Sony made a deal with Codigo Music and the Clyde Otis Music Group to use the record.
Heads at TufAmerica are now asking a court to declare them the rightful owner of the song and are seeking damages, reports TMZ.com.
