HANCOCK ‘DRAWN TO VOLATILE MEN’

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:18 pm

Veteran British actress SHEILA HANCOCK has opened up about her tumultuous relationship history, admitting she is drawn to volatile men who enjoy boozing.
The stage and screen star has been married twice - to actors Alec Ross and John Thaw, who both died from oesophageal cancer and were both known for being heavy drinkers.
Now Hancock has opened up about the marriages, insisting she opts for addictive partners because she holds similar traits.
During an interview for Sky Arts, she says, "There’s no doubt that the men in my life had a volatility that came from drinking very often, and I must be drawn to that, otherwise why would I continuously have done it? So there is a part of me that likes the drama of that.
"It is well known that people who are involved with people who have addictive problems have a problem themselves. You are drawn to mad living, a kind of insane thing. It is much nicer when it stops, believe you me." And Hancock admits she didn’t help Ross and Thaw overcome their issues: "Constantly going along with the moods and the madness was detrimental to my partners, and it is only when you learn that there is unacceptable behaviour that you should not accept, that those people have to pull themselves together."

FIENNES BASED MOVIE CHARACTER ON WORLD LEADERS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:18 pm

RALPH FIENNES looked to the world political arena for inspiration for his big screen version of Roman leader CORIOLANUS - he based the character on VLADIMIR PUTIN and ARIEL SHARON.
The Oscar-nominated actor has gone behind the camera for his directorial debut and decided to tackle the first ever movie version of the Shakespeare play.
And he aimed high when researching how to bring the lead character to life in the 21st century - he studied the personalities of Russian Prime Minister Putin and former Israeli leader Sharon.
Fiennes tells Total Film magazine, "Someone who’s steeped in vigorous nationalism and authoritarian stance would be Putin. He’s the person I looked at. And the tougher Israeli leaders, like Ariel Sharon. They reflected aspects of Coriolanus - that intransigence and unbending nationalism."

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:15 pm

Disgraced golf ace TIGER WOODS is adamant he has ended his womanising ways and now puts his "family first".
The sportsman made headlines around the world when he checked into a clinic for therapy last year (10) and confessed to a string of extra-marital affairs.

"It’s work, there’s no doubt. It’s tough. But it’s enjoyable. That’s the work I love… I just love being with them and seeing what they’re doing, what they’re capable of doing - the joys, just the shifts of interest… It’s just fun. Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:15 pm

Hollywood star DANNY GLOVER has jetted to South Africa to accompany exiled former Haitian president JEAN-BERTRAND ARISTIDE home.
The Lethal Weapon star is an active member of the TransAfrica Forum and has joined calls for Aristide to be swiftly brought back to his earthquake-ravaged homeland.
And this week (beg14Mar11), he flew to Johannesburg to hasten Aristide’s departure after "all the last remaining obstacles to (Aristides’) return have been removed".
In a statement on the TransAfrica website, Glover writes, "I am going to South Africa to show our solidarity with the people of Haiti by standing at the side of the leader they elected twice with overwhelming support.
"People of good conscience cannot be idle while… a democratic leader who peacefully handed over power to another elected president is restricted from returning to his country by external forces." Aristide has been in exile in South Africa for seven years since he was forced from power following a rebellion in 2004.

SHEEN TO EARN $300,000 FROM FIRST TWO TOUR GIGS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 9:26 am

CHARLIE SHEEN is officially winning - he is set to rake in $300,000 (£200,000) from just two shows on his sold out theatre tour, according to a U.S. report.
The fired Two and a Half Men actor is taking his bizarre rants on the road for his Charlie Sheen Live: My Violent Torpedo of Truth/Defeat is Not an Option trek.
After his two initial dates in Chicago and Detroit sold out in just 18 minutes last week (ends11Mar11), the embattled star added more shows in Ohio, New York City, Connecticut and Massachusetts.
And according to The Hollywood Reporter, thanks to choosing mid-range venues and forgoing marketing costs, the actor is set to pull in a massive $300,000 (£200,000) from just his first two gigs.
But Sheen still has a way to go to make up for lost wages from his axed TV series - the star was on $1.2 million (£800,000) per episode.

SHEEN’S $100 MILLION LAWSUIT MAY NOT MAKE IT TO COURT

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 9:26 am

CHARLIE SHEEN’s plans to sue the producer and creators of his former TV sitcom TWO AND A HALF MEN have been dealt a blow after a private-resolution company determined the case should be dealt with in arbitration rather than a court of law.
The actor filed a $100 million (£66.7 million) lawsuit earlier this month (Mar11) after he was fired from the show and named Warner Bros. executives and show creator Chuck Lorre in court papers.
As well as demanding the cash he would have earned from the eight episodes producers cancelled at the end of last month (Feb11) - following Sheen’s radio attack on Lorre - the actor is also asking the TV executives to pay the crew’s full salary. Many have been left out of work and struggling financially because of the season cancellation.
However, Sheen may not get the day in court he craves after the private-resolution company JAMS decided on Wednesday (16Mar11) that Sheen’s grievances are a matter for third-party arbitration.
And Sheen’s lawyer, Marty Singer, is not happy with the decision, telling The Hollywood Reporter, "The subject matter of this dispute is not just Charlie and Chuck Lorre. Our lawsuit involves claims over the entire cast and crew, and there is no right to arbitrate with them.
"We still feel we will prevail because the facts and law are 100 percent in our favour. I can understand why Chuck Lorre wants to keep this in a secret tribunal. When the facts come out they will show that he and Warner Bros. had absolutely no basis to terminate my client." Lorre’s lawyer, on the other hand, is happy with JAMS call for arbitration, telling E! News, "Despite Mr. Sheen’s objections JAMS made the correct decision."

MEYERS SUED OVER ALLEGED AIRPORT ASSAULT

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 9:24 am

Actor JONATHAN RHYS MEYERS is facing a lawsuit over allegations he assaulted a female worker at New York’s JFK Airport last May (10).
The Tudors actor was banned from flying with United Airlines after allegedly launching a drunken tirade at staff following a vodka binge while waiting for his flight.
He headed to rehab shortly after the incident to battle his ongoing drink problems, but Meyers’ alleged outburst has come back to haunt him after United Airlines customer service director Kathryn Williams filed suit against the star earlier this month (Mar11).
In papers filed at the Supreme Court in Queens, New York, Williams claims she suffered permanent physical damage at the hands of the star, as well as severe emotional distress.
The documents state, "That on May 7, 2010, at approximately 6.00am… the defendant committed tortuous acts consisting of verbally and physically abusing plaintiff causing her to sustain physical injuries and severe emotional distress.
"Defendant Jonathan Rhys Meyers wilfully, maliciously, wantonly and without any just cause or provocation assaulted and battered plaintiff Kathryn Williams." Williams is seeking damages for assault and battery, intentional infliction of emotional distress, and outrage.

FOSTER DEFENDS GIBSON AGAIN AT BEAVER SCREENING

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 9:24 am

JODIE FOSTER took time out of a special screening of her new film THE BEAVER to ask moviegoers to "appreciate" MEL GIBSON’s performance onscreen instead of concentrating on his personal troubles.
The Silence of the Lambs star directs her old pal in the film, which is released following months of scrutiny aimed at Gibson over his nasty split from ex-girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva.
In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the Oscar winner - who starred alongside the actor in 1994’s Maverick - insisted she’d always stand by the embattled star, branding him the "most loved actor I have ever worked with".
And at a showing of the pair’s new film at the SXSW Film Festival in Austin, Texas on Wednesday night (16Mar11), Foster urged fans to put their personal thoughts on Gibson aside and enjoy his moving portrayal of a depressed father in the film.
She said, "I just have to ask everybody, can you see a film and appreciate the artist for his work? And if anything, I think anybody who comes to see the film and understands Mel’s extraordinary performance in the movie can’t go away untouched by his humanity.
"If there’s a message to the movie, it’s that you don’t have to be alone. The truth is that the great remedy for that is connection." Gibson did not attend the event. He is currently battling Grigorieva for custody of their baby daughter, Lucia.

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 9:23 am

WHITNEY HOUSTON’s daughter BOBBI KRISTINA has taken to the web to deny reports she is rehab bound following suggestions she is struggling with drug addiction.
The 18 year old, whose father is Bobby Brown, was embroiled in a drug scandal earlier this month (Mar11) after pictures of her allegedly snorting cocaine at two separate parties were obtained by U.S. tabloid the National Enquirer.
Bobbi Kristina denied the speculation, insisting the photographs were set up by an ex-boyfriend to look as if she was indulging in narcotics.
New rumours circulated suggesting the teen was heading to a rehabilitation centre to ensure she did not follow the same path as her famous parents, who have both battled with drug addiction.
But she has now taken to her Twitter.com page to take aim at the reports, writing, "Excuse me but I’d like to say that I am NOT going to rehab? I’m perfectly healthy and I am not addicted to anything but life.
"Home with the family_ pffft media cracks me up ! Rehab my a**, think what you want, but I’m a blessed perfectly healthy young lady."

On her Twitter.com page, she writes, "I don’t care about the dumb articles. I know how healthy I am. Maybe those people should start taking care of themselves… inside and out.
"Maybe it’s time for a nude pic so peeps can see how I look nowhere near what these stupid pics are trying to make me look like, LOL (laugh out loud)." And the star took time to remind fans how much she likes food, by repeatedly referencing snacks she was eating throughout the day.
She adds, "Just had some kind of doughnut hazelnut cream thingy for dessert at lunch!"

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 9:20 am

Bosses at Malaysian radio stations have banned parts of LADY GAGA’s equality anthem BORN THIS WAY due to its pro-gay lyrics.
Chiefs at AMP Radio Networks in the conservative, Muslim-majority country have used indecipherable noise over sections of the track where the star sings about equal rights for the gay community.
One lyric which is omitted from the radio-friendly version is, "No matter gay, straight or bi, lesbian, transgendered life, I’m on the right track, baby." A spokesperson for the broadcaster tells The Associated Press, "(Those lyrics) may be considered as offensive when viewed against Malaysia’s social and religious observances."

SANDILANDS REFUSES TO RETURN TO AUSSIE X FACTOR

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 9:18 am

Australian TV and radio star KYLE SANDILANDS has decided not to return as a judge on THE X FACTOR, just days after he was hospitalised.
The 39 year old was taken to a medical facility during the taping of Australia’s Got Talent last weekend (12Mar11) after suffering a severe migraine, and medics found his blood pressure was at a dangerously high level. He was treated with medication and allowed home after several hours under doctors’ watch.
And following the scare, Sandilands has announced he will not act as a judge on a new season of the Aussie version of Simon Cowell’s hit show after realising it’s "too much work".
He told fans, "I’m not doing it. Not because I didn’t like it. I thought the show was great and it was great fun to do but it’s just too hectic, it’s too much. It’s too much work, you know I don’t like a lot of work.
"So I’ve told (X Factor broadcaster) Channel Seven, ‘No. Thank you so much for the great opportunity but I’m not doing it.’" Sandilands judged The X Factor alongside singers Ronan Keating and Natalie Imbruglia, while he sits on the Australia’s Got Talent panel with Dannii Minogue and Brian McFadden.

MCCONAUGHEY LOVES DREAM HOME ON WHEELS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:17 pm

MATTHEW MCCONAUGHEY insists it will be years before he offloads his beloved Airstream trailer - because it has become his dream home on wheels.
The Sahara star spent three years customising the silver bullet trailer and now hauls it onto film sets and uses it as a getaway.
He explains, "The starboard side… is where all the kitchen (equipment) and the galley and the refrigerator is; on the other side, the port side, is just the electronics, so there’s much more room in this one down the middle.
"Also I have a six-and-a-half foot window that opens up above the galley… a bar that comes up on the outside… You can pull up (and) I can cook and serve you through the window.
"It’s got an outdoor shower, the bed’s elevated an extra 18 inches, so you have that much more storage room underneath." It was a labour of love to get the trailer revamped. He tells news show Access Hollywood Live, "It took long enough to get this thing done… It took three years to finish this project."
