FISHER: ‘I DIDN’T KNOW WHO I WAS AFTER SIX DAYS OF INSOMNIA’

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 9:14 am

Actress CARRIE FISHER’s mental health hit an all-time low when she no longer knew who she was after a six-day bout of insomnia 15 years ago.
The Star Wars icon was admitted to a psychiatric hospital after the breakdown, which was sparked by an allergic reaction to medication she was taking for depression, and she admits she signed in as ‘Shame’ with her left hand because she no longer realised she was right-handed.
She says, "I’d stayed awake for six days and… it isn’t possible. I was allergic to a medication so what they did was, to find out what medication it was, they took me off everything and I said to them, ‘I won’t sleep…’ And they said, ‘No one ever died from losing one night’s sleep.’ "Six night’s later, I’m still awake. I thought everything on TV was about me, which makes hard programming… and I also was getting secret messages from the movie The Young Lions… I was so gone.
"My shrink came at one point and I told her that I didn’t know if I believed in reincarnation, but if there was such a thing I was hoping to come back as her shrink. I told her that I had light coming out of my head… I didn’t know what was happening." Fisher admits she was relieved when she eventually arrived at the mental hospital: "When you’re in a mental hospital, it’s kind of OK - because it can’t get any worse." The actress made the confession during an appearance on the Oprah Winfrey Show on Tuesday (15Feb11).

PRISON REP DENIES SIMPSON ATTACK RUMOURS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 9:14 am

A spokesperson for the prison holding shamed former American footballer/actor O.J. SIMPSON has denied reports the star has been attacked by a white supremacist behind bars.
Simpson is currently serving a 15-year sentence in Nevada following his December 2008 conviction for masterminding a heist on two sports memorabilia dealers’ Las Vegas hotel room in September 2007.
U.S. tabloid the National Enquirer recently reported he had been "brutally beaten" by a racist fellow inmate at the Lovelock Correctional Center, where Simpson is serving out his sentence.
The publication added that inmates cheered as Simpson was savagely beaten and the star had to recover in the prison infirmary for three weeks.
However, a representative for the Nevada Department of Corrections tells GossipCop.com the rumours are false, saying there was "no incident at all" and adding: "O.J.’s fine and healthy."

TAYLOR ‘MAKING IMPROVEMENT’

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 9:14 am

DAME ELIZABETH TAYLOR’s publicist has urged fans not to worry about the screen legend’s wellbeing, insisting her condition is improving and doctors are "gratified by her progress".
The Cleopatra icon was admitted to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center last week (08Feb11) to treat symptoms of congestive heart failure.
Her spokesperson, Sally Morrison, announced on Sunday (13Feb11) that the star would have to remain in hospital "for a while" because of her history of health issues - Taylor has had ongoing problems with her heart, even undergoing surgery in 2009.
And in an update on Tuesday (15Feb11), Morrison insisted the actress is making slow progress, and told fans their idol was in good hands.
The rep says, "Since being admitted there has been steady improvement in her condition, and over the weekend she has had visits from family and close friends.
"Her medical team is gratified by her progress to date, and it is hoped and expected that this will continue over the next few days. For now, she will remain under their care in the hospital for continued monitoring.
"Friends and fans around the world should be reassured that Elizabeth Taylor is in good hands and receiving the best possible care from her skilled and dedicated doctors and nurses."

WINFREY HAD TO WITHDRAW MORGAN BET TO LAND VICK INTERVIEW

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 2:56 am

OPRAH WINFREY only managed to land an interview with controversial sports star MICHAEL VICK after withdrawing her TV bet with PIERS MORGAN - because the American footballer wanted no part in their gambling.
Both Winfrey and Morgan were after the first in-depth TV chat with the disgraced Philadelphia Eagles quarterback, who was jailed for 20 months in 2007 for his role in an illegal dog fighting ring.
The British TV personality enticed Winfrey into a wager when she appeared on his first CNN show, betting her "one hundred British pounds" that he’d beat her to the big chat - an offer Winfrey accepted and doubled.
The media mogul appeared to have won the bet on Monday (14Feb11) when she announced Vick would be a guest on her show on Thursday (17Feb11).
But Morgan reveals the wager no longer stands - because it was the one stipulation Vick’s agent had when he agreed to grant one of the talk show hosts an interview.
Morgan explains, "I feel absolutely gutted… Although I haven’t technically lost. Here’s what happened: I bet Oprah £200 for this interview, and then a mysterious thing happened at the end of last week, where Michael Vick’s agent rang us both up and said, ‘He can’t be party to gambling so he’ll only do an interview with either of you if you withdraw the bet.’ At which point, Oprah, quick as lightening, gets straight on Twitter and says, ‘Dear Piers, I’m withdrawing the bet, I don’t know why I let you talk me into it, I still love you, Oprah.’ "The moment I saw that, I knew what that meant was, if she did that on Twitter, she was in the clear and she had him in the bag! You shouldn’t pick a fight with Oprah Winfrey, right?"

LAVIGNE THRILLED WITH NICE BOY GEORGE AFTER AGUILERA SNUB

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 2:53 am

AVRIL LAVIGNE has heaped praise on "friendly" BOY GEORGE after fearing he would snub her at the Brit Awards just like CHRISTINA AGUILERA did at a recent event.
The Sk8er Boi hitmaker attended the Brits in London on Tuesday (15Feb11) and presented fellow Canadian Justin Bieber with the award for International Breakthrough Solo Artist.
But that wasn’t the highlight for her - after she handed out the honour, Lavigne spotted the Culture Club frontman backstage, and apprehensively dared to approach him.
She tells U.K. TV network ITV2, "He (Boy George) was stood behind us… and I decided to walk over. I’m a very shy person… and I didn’t know what he would do, and he said, ‘Oh hi!’ He knew who I was and I was like, ‘Oh my God!’ "He was super nice, unlike Christina Aguilera, who was really mean to me when I said hi to her. You know what, I said to my friends, ‘I’m gonna go over to Boy George and hopefully he won’t pull a Christina on me.’ "We’re labelmates, and I presumed (as) we have the same manager… I remember going over… and introducing myself and saying, ‘Hi, we kinda do the same thing,’ but I just kind of got (an ignorant laugh)."

ADELE’S EX PROMPTED BRIT AWARDS TEARS FROM HIS SOFA

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 2:50 am

Singer ADELE has explained the emotional ending to her Brit Awards performance on Tuesday night (15Feb11) - she was imagining her ex-lover laughing at her while watching on TV.
The singer stunned the star-studded crowd at London’s O2 Arena with a rousing rendition of her album track Someone Like You, and visibly welled up as the song ended and the audience gave her a standing ovation.
But the star insists her tears weren’t down to happiness - she could envision her former partner, who the song was written about, gloating about the power he still has over her while watching at home.
She tells U.K. network ITV2, "I was really emotional by the end because I’m quite overwhelmed by everything anyway, and then I had a vision of my ex, of him watching me at home and he’s going to be laughing at me because he knows I’m crying because of him, with him thinking, ‘Yep, she’s still wrapped around my finger.’ "Then everyone stood up, so I was overwhelmed." Adele admits her emotions were high at the Brits before she stepped onstage - because she had only just allowed the success of her latest album to sink in: "They (record label bosses) sent me off to America on the day my album went (to) number one and I’ve only just got back!"

REYNOLDS: ‘HUSBAND KARL’S MANICURISTS WERE HOOKERS’

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 2:47 am

Hollywood icon DEBBIE REYNOLDS was duped by her second husband, millionaire HARRY KARL, into thinking the prostitutes who showed up at their home regularly were actually manicurists and hairdressers that took care of the tycoon’s grooming needs.
The naive Singin’ in the Rain star eventually realised her husband’s ‘barber’ was actually a pimp who would help service her husband sexually.
Appearing with her daughter Carrie Fisher on the Oprah Winfrey Show in America on Tuesday (15Feb11), Reynolds confessed she never questioned Karl’s strict daily grooming regimen.
She said, "While they were at work they just doubled the duty. I didn’t know anything about it because I believed they were manicurists (although) I wondered why it took so long."

WEAVER CASTING COST BIEHN A ROLE IN AVATAR

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 2:47 am

ALIENS star MICHAEL BIEHN learned he had been passed over for the role of COLONEL MILES QUARITCH in AVATAR from his son.
The actor helped develop the alien-killing character with director James Cameron and fully expected to be cast in the role, but when the emails and phone calls didn’t come from the production office, Biehn knew something was amiss.
He finally learned Cameron had decided not to cast two of his Aliens stars in the same film, after hiring Sigourney Weaver, when his son came home from school with the bad news.
Biehn tells WENN, "I found out unofficially I didn’t get the role because my son goes to school with (producer) Jon Landau’s son and his son told my son he didn’t think I was gonna get it because once Jim cast Sigourney Weaver he kind of felt that by casting me it would remind people too much of Aliens and he didn’t want that connection.
"About two or three months later my agent called and said I wasn’t gonna get the role and that was the reason." But Biehn insists he isn’t bitter that the role went to Stephen Lang, adding, "If there was anybody out there that I would hope would get to play that role, it would be him. Almost any other actor I would’ve been, ‘Damn him!’ He’s a great actor who’s never quite had his shot and is under appreciated, so I was very, very happy he got the role.
"Stephen was a mentor to me on Tombstone and he originated the role that Jack Nicholson played in A Few Good Men on Broadway.
"And I have no bad feelings towards Jim (Cameron). He gave me the script and I gave him my ideas about the character. I think that he was impressed and he said that he was interested in me playing the role, but it wasn’t meant to be."

FISHER CONVINCED TAYLOR NEVER LOVED HER DAD

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 2:44 am

Actress CARRIE FISHER feels sure ELIZABETH TAYLOR never loved her father EDDIE FISHER - he was simply a shoulder for the movie veteran to cry on after the death of her husband MIKE TODD.
Fisher, who was the best man at Taylor and Todd’s 1957 wedding, flew to the actress’ side when his friend was killed in a plane crash the following year (58) - and the grieving pair embarked on a romance which ended the singer’s marriage to Debbie Reynolds.
Appearing on the Oprah Winfrey Show on Tuesday (15Feb11), Reynolds admits she has come to understand why Taylor and Fisher became an item.
Her daughter, who appeared with her on the show, confessed she has since spoken to Taylor about the scandalous romance she had with her father, who died last year (Sep10).
And Carrie reveals that although her father became Taylor’s fourth husband, there wasn’t a great deal of love involved.
She said, "I asked Elizabeth if she loved Eddie and she said, ‘We kept Mike Todd alive…’ All they did was talk about Mike and that’s all she wanted… Eddie was Mike’s best friend. They adored this man." Reynolds revealed she later reconciled with her friend Taylor after she had divorced Fisher and wed Richard Burton when the two movie stars found themselves together on the same cruise.
She explained, "I sent her a note to Elizabeth and I said, ‘Let’s not have a problem… Let’s just talk and have dinner together…’ We went to dinner and there was a big hassle because we had Richard Burton and there were news people hiding behind trees and bushes.
"We went to the restroom and there was a big line of ladies and all the ladies were whispering, ‘How can you talk to her…?’ And they were furious with me and I said, ‘Oh, get over it’."

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 2:44 am

A correspondent for American TV network CBS is in hospital after she was savagely sexually assaulted on Friday (11Feb11) while reporting on the unrest in Egypt.
CBS chief foreign correspondent Lara Logan was reporting on the pro-democracy demonstrations from the frontline in Cairo in the lead up to President Hosni Mubarak’s dramatic decision to step down after 30 years.
According to a statement from the network, Logan and her team were surrounded by a "dangerous element amidst the celebration" in Cairo’s Tahrir Square as the mob were whipped into a frenzy following the news of the president’s resignation.
Logan was separated from her crew and "suffered a brutal and sustained sexual assault and beating". She was saved by a group of women and 20 Egyptian soldiers.
She returned to her hotel and flew straight back to the U.S. on Saturday (12Feb11) and she is currently receiving hospital treatment.
She wasn’t the only American news reporter attacked while reporting on the protests - CNN newsman Anderson Cooper was punched and kicked by protesters while he was attempting to file a report.

NEESON RECALLS NIGHTMARE NIGHT HIS WIFE DIED

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 2:44 am

LIAM NEESON has spoken out about the hellish night he lost his wife NATASHA RICHARDSON, explaining he struggled to get access to the dying actress because no one recognised him at the hospital she was taken to.
Richardson was rushed to hospital hours after falling and banging her head during a skiing lesson in Canada in 2009 and almost two years later Neeson can still vividly remember the awful night he tried to get access to his dying wife, recalling how security at the hospital was high and no one seemed to know who he was.
He tells Esquire magazine, "I walked into the emergency (room) - it’s like 70, 80 people, broken arms, black eyes, all that - and for the first time in years, nobody recognises me. Not the nurses. The patients. No one.
"I’ve come all this way, and they won’t let me see her. And I’m looking past them, starting to push - I’m like, ‘F**k, I know my wife’s back there someplace.’ "I pull out a cell phone, and a security guard comes up, starts saying, ‘Sorry, sir, you can’t use that in here,’ and I’m about to ask him if he knew me, when he disappears to answer a phone call or something. So I went outside. It’s freezing cold, and I thought, ‘What am I gonna do? How am I going to get past the security?’ "I see two nurses… I walk up, and luckily one of them recognises me. And I’ll tell you, I was so f**king grateful - for the first time in I don’t know how long - to be recognised. And this one (nurse) says, ‘Go in that back door there.’ She points me to it. ‘Make a left. She’s in a room there.’ So I get there, just in time.
"And all these young doctors, who look all of 18 years of age, they tell me the worst." Richardson, 45, died of an epidural haematoma and Neeson admits he’s often overcome with grief at the most random moments when he thinks about his late wife.
He adds, "It hits you in the middle of the night - well, it hits me in the middle of the night. I’m out walking. I’m feeling quite content. And it’s like suddenly, boom."

BILLY RAY CYRUS: ‘I HAVEN’T MADE A DIME OFF MILEY’

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:41 pm

BILLY RAY CYRUS has slammed reports suggesting he’s profiting from his daughter MILEY’s phenomenal career success, insisting he’s "never made a dime" off the teenager.
The Achy Breaky Heart singer has opened up about his family troubles and his fears for the Hannah Montana star as she grows up in the public eye in a candid new GQ magazine interview.
In the article, Cyrus, who starred alongside Miley in Hannah Montana, claims hit Disney show destroyed his family, and adds the 18 year old’s aides are failing to protect her - referencing a string of scandals in recent months, including controversy over video footage showing her smoking a legal high from a bong.
Insisting he’d take "the damn show… back in a second" if he could, Billy Ray states, "I’m scared for her (Miley). She’s got a lot of people around her that’s putting her in a great deal of danger (sic). I want to get her sheltered from the storm." And the 49 year old has taken exception to rumours his bank balance has been boosted by his daughter’s fame, despite having his own singing and acting career revived by his role on Hannah Montana.
He tells the men’s publication, "For the record, to set it straight, I want to tell you I’ve never made a dime off of Miley. You got a lot of people have made percentages off of her. I’m proud to say to this day I’ve never made one commissioned dollar, or dime, off of my daughter."
