Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:20 pm

Oscar winner DANIEL DAY-LEWIS joined mourners at the London memorial service for late British actor PETE POSTLETHWAITE and regaled them with tales of their days in acting school.
The There Will Be Blood star joined fellow celebrities Kevin Spacey, Julie Walters and Michael Gambon at a church service on Wednesday (16Feb11) in memory of The Usual Suspects actor, who died on 2 January (11) after a long illness.
Day-Lewis, who appeared alongside his pal "Pos" in 1993 drama In the Name of the Father and 1992’s The Last of the Mohicans, led the heartfelt speeches by recalling their time together at the Old Vic Theatre School in Bristol, England, where they trained together early on in their careers. He then sang to Postlethwaite’s grieving widow, Jacqui.
In a heartfelt tribute to the actor shortly after his death last month (Jan11), Day-Lewis revealed he grew up wanting to be just like the 64 year old.
He said, "As students, it was him we went to see on stage time and time again. It was him we wanted to be like; wild and true; lion hearted; unselfconscious, irreverent. He was on our side. He watched out for us. We loved him and followed him like happy children, never a breath away from laughter. He shouldn’t have gone."

MARIN’S EX-WIFE DENIED RESTRAINING ORDER

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:18 pm

A Los Angeles judge has denied a restraining order request by CHEECH MARIN’s ex-wife after determining the comedian poses no physical threat to his former spouse.
Patti Heid, who wed the Cheech & Chong star in 1986, asked for the ban after accusing the actor of verbally attacking her during an incident in January (11).
She claimed Marin lost his temper when she refused to sign a legal document regarding the transfer of property, and reportedly threatened his ex with legal action.
In her legal papers, Heid stated, "(He) fractured my cheek, blackened my eye and violently choked me, causing severe bruising on my neck and neck pain… numbing of my arms and hands." She also alleged Marin, 64, placed his hands around their son’s neck too.
Heid had her initial request for an immediate restraining order denied earlier this month (Feb11) and the Los Angeles County Superior Court judge dismissed her application again on Wednesday (16Feb11), ruling there was no evidence to prove Marin had acted in a threatening manner.
And Marin, who is now married to classical pianist Natasha Rubin, is relieved to have cleared his name. He tells TMZ.com, "It feels good to be vindicated by the judicial system. I wish my ex-wife well… just not next door to me, where she lives now."

POTTER GETS THE PORN TREATMENT

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:18 pm

HARRY POTTER is about to conjure up some magic porn - Hustler Video bosses are about to shoot a new X-rated spoof based on the boy wizard’s adventures.
And thanks to the studio gaffe that prevented the penultimate Potter film getting the 3D treatment, This Ain’t Harry Potter XXX will be the first franchise-related film to get the 3D treatment.
Drew Rosenfeld, Creative Director for Hustler Video, tells WENN, "We are very excited to be continuing the trend we started with This Ain’t Avatar XXX 3D and the This Ain’t Ghostbusters XXX 3D parodies.
"We have an opportunity to take what we’ve learned from the last two films, especially where 3D special effects are concerned, and turn our parody of Harry Potter into a true Hollywood masterpiece.
"Besides, with Harry, Hermione, and Ron all grown up and over the age of 18, this is the perfect opportunity to spoof the characters, and show what we imagine might have happened behind Hogwarts’ closed doors." This Ain’t Harry Potter XXX 3D will be released later this year (11).
Casting details have yet to be announced.

VON ANHALT SELLING OFF GABOR’S FURS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:17 pm

Socialite FREDERIC PRINZ VON ANHALT is auctioning off his wife ZSA ZSA GABOR’s fur coats in a bid to raise cash to pay for her mounting medical fees.
The ailing actress, 94, has been in and out of hospital in recent months and had part of her right leg amputated in January (11) to prevent the spread of an infection.
Von Anhalt recently revealed their finances were dwindling as a result of Gabor’s health woes, forcing him to place the couple’s sprawling Bel Air mansion on the market.
Now he’s hoping he can boost funds further by selling the 14 fur coats the TV star has in storage.
Von Anhalt claims the monthly storage costs of $1,200 (£800) are a big burden on top of the $200,000 (£133,330) he has already paid in medical bills, and he is aiming to bank $100,000 (£66,670) from the online auction.
He says, "I need the money, and I need the cash. The storage doesn’t make sense because my wife is not going to wear them again."

SHEEN THOUGHT LORRE’S JIBE WAS ‘FUNNY’

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:23 pm

CHARLIE SHEEN has laughed off TV writer CHUCK LORRE’s jab at his personal troubles after the creator of TWO AND A HALF MEN tagged a brief statement onto the end of Monday night’s (14Feb11) episode of the hit show.
Network bosses at CBS suspended filming on the sitcom at the end of January (11) to allow Sheen time to undergo rehab treatment after he hit the headlines with a series of raucous off-screen antics.
The actor stunned fans on Monday (14Feb11) when he phoned into a sports talk U.S. radio show to reveal he was ready and willing to work - and blamed CBS executives for putting the cast and crew of the comedy on "forced hiatus".
Lorre responded to the outburst by airing his grievances about the star’s alleged drinking, drug taking and sexual exploits in a message which flashed up during the end credits of Monday night’s episode.
Part of the message read: "I don’t drink. I don’t smoke. I don’t do drugs. I don’t have crazy, reckless sex with strangers. If Charlie Sheen outlives me, I’m gonna be really p**sed." But Sheen’s manager, Mark Burg, insists the star has taken Lorre’s comments in his stride.
Burg tells the New York Daily News, "Charlie… thought it was funny. The direct quote was, ‘That’s great. There’s not a chance he outlives me!’" Sheen hit the headlines last month (Jan11) after a wild night of partying with porn stars and pals at his Hollywood home ended with a hospital visit. The actor was treated for a hernia and subsequently signed up for an at-home rehab stint.

LOHAN NOT APPEARING ON LETTERMAN

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:20 pm

TV network bosses at CBS in America have confessed they were conned into believing LINDSAY LOHAN would be poking fun at herself on THE LATE SHOW WITH DAVID LETTERMAN on Thursday (17Feb11).
The TV chiefs sent out a release late on Tuesday (15Feb11), stating that the troubled actress would be reading the nightly Top Ten list on the show via satellite from her home in California.
They have since discovered the booking was made by someone who had no authority to call CBS.
A statement from the network on Wednesday (16Feb11) reads, "We made a mistake. Someone purporting to be a friend of Lindsay’s reached out to the show yesterday, allegedly on her behalf, and booked her to appear. Clearly, this person was not authorised to make commitments on her behalf. We wish Lindsay well, and look forward to having her on the show in the future." Lohan’s estranged father Michael has since confessed he made the call to book the actress on the show.
He tells TMZ.com he only made the booking after Lindsay agreed to the job.
Angry Lohan tells the website, "Anything positive that I bring into her life… (her people) try to nix it." Mean Girls star Lohan has made four appearances on The Late Show - her last was in 2007.

SHEEN WANTS TO OFFER ADVICE TO LOHAN

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:20 pm

CHARLIE SHEEN is keen to play counsellor to another troubled star - he has reached out to LINDSAY LOHAN.
The Two and a Half Men star has been battling his own personal issues in recent months, and is currently undergoing rehab treatment at his home in Los Angeles.
But the 45 year old insists he’s the perfect person to help Lohan deal with her problems as she fights accusations she stole a necklace from a Hollywood jewellers, because he understands how the media can "vilify without fact".
Sheen called into a U.S. radio show on Wednesday (16Feb11) and told presenter Dan Patrick: "I dare you to get Lindsay on the show. You get Lindsay on the show and I’ll call in. I have some advice for her. I have some things for her to consider.
"Work on your impulse control, just try to think things through a little bit before you do it. Now check it - I was not there in the store, the necklace, some bracelet, who cares? I mean, they are just so desperate to vilify without fact." Lohan, who was already on probation when the incident allegedly occurred in January (11), has pleaded not guilty to a felony grand theft charge and is currently free on bail after a judge revoked her probation for a previous DUI charge.
The actress spent much of 2010 in rehab for substance abuse issues.

BRITS WINNERS SEE SALES SOAR

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:20 pm

ARCADE FIRE, MUMFORD & SONS, and rapper TINIE TEMPAH’s album sales have soared since their Brit Awards wins on Tuesday night (15Feb11).
Canadian rockers Arcade Fire are selling more than five times more copies of their album The Suburbs than they sold a week ago (09Feb11), after winning Best International Album and Best International Group.
Mumford & Sons, who took home the prestigious Best British Album for Sigh No More, are enjoying a six-fold increase in sales, and rapper Tinie Tempah’s Disc-Overy is selling almost four times more quickly than it was last week after he scooped the British Breakthrough Act and Best British Single honours.
A spokesman for retailer HMV, whose staff compiled the figures, says, "With their distinctive sound, Mumford & Sons may already be firm favourites with students and with much of Middle England, but this success will now help cement their appeal with an even broader audience.
"Their album just keeps on selling as the band pick up more and more new fans, and with a substantial post-Brits bounce still to come, it will now go through the landmark of a million sales, which is remarkable when you think that relatively few people had heard of them this time last year."

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:17 pm

A booking boss for Britain’s famed Glastonbury festival has confessed she fought to sign BEYONCE as a headliner for this year’s (11) event after she was "blown away" by the singer’s live show.
The R&B star confirmed last week (ends11Feb11) she had agreed to a headline slot at the traditionally rock-oriented festival, three years after her husband Jay-Z became the first high-profile rapper to perform on the bill.

Eavis tells Glastonburyfestivals.co.uk, "We really want the people who are the masters of their fields, and that’s what she is.
"I went to see her live last year and was blown away by the might of the show. She has such soul, an amazing voice with an incredible, all-female band. She knows how to deliver live, and she packs a big punch - it’s gonna explode!"

PHARRELL’S REP CLEARS UP NAZI SALUTE RUMOURS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:17 pm

A spokesperson for PHARRELL WILLIAMS has fired back at reports suggesting the hip-hop star performed an offensive Nazi salute during a recent concert in Las Vegas, insisting the allegations are "downright silly".
Williams hit the stage in Sin City with his band N.E.R.D. for a gig earlier this week (begs14Feb11), and he upset some fans by allegedly mimicking the hand gesture previously adopted by infamous Nazi leader Adolf Hitler.
Video footage of the incident has since been posted online, provoking further controversy - but the producer/rapper’s aides have moved quickly to shoot down claims he acted inappropriately and offensively.
His rep tells TMZ.com, "You can’t see it because his hand isn’t in the picture, but Pharrell is throwing up the Star Trek sign, which is also the sign for his record label, Star Trak.
"To suggest that he is doing anything else is wrong and downright silly."

MARS GETS COMMUNITY SERVICE FOR DRUG ARREST

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:14 pm

R&B star BRUNO MARS can finally move on from his drug bust scandal last year (10) after he was formally sentenced to 200 hours of community service on Wednesday (16Feb11).
The Grenade hitmaker, real name Peter Hernandez, was arrested in Las Vegas in September (10) after a bathroom attendant at the Hard Rock Hotel allegedly caught him with a bag of cocaine.
He was hit with a felony count for drug possession and faced up to four years behind bars and a $50,000 (£33,330) fine if convicted, but Mars managed to avoid jail after striking a plea deal with prosecutors in January (11).
Mars pleaded guilty to the lesser charge of possession of a controlled substance earlier this month (Feb11) and was officially sentenced in court on Wednesday (16Feb11), four days after landing his first two Grammy Awards on Sunday (13Feb11).
The judge ordered the 25-year-old star to complete community service, enrol in an eight-hour counselling programme, and pay a $2,000 (1,330) fine. If he stays out of trouble for the next 12 months, the charge will be wiped from his record.
And the singer is glad to put the matter behind him once and for all.
His lawyer Blair Berk tells TMZ.com, "We are very pleased that the prosecution has agreed to dismiss the charge."

GOLDBERG APOLOGISES FOR BLASTING NEW YORK TIMES WRITERS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:14 pm

WHOOPI GOLDBERG has offered the editors of The New York Times a formal apology for branding a recent article about black Oscar honorees "sloppy", after publication bosses insisted the actress had read the story "incorrectly".
The star voiced her opinion about the piece, which appeared in Sunday’s (13Feb11) Times, while co-hosting on U.S. talk show The View on Monday (14Feb11).
She claimed writers Manohla Dargis and A.O. Scott had suggested only seven African-Americans had won Oscars in the past 73 years, referencing triumphs by the likes of Halle Berry and Denzel Washington - and appearing to omit her 1981 Best Supporting Actress win for Ghost, among others.
Editors defended Dargis and Scott by issuing a press release clarifying the report, stating: "The error lies with those who are reading the story incorrectly.
"The point of the piece was not to name every black actor or actress who has been awarded an Oscar; it was to draw a comparison between the number who won prior to 2002 (the year Halle Berry and Denzel Washington won) and those who have won since. The story states very clearly that in 73 years, prior to 2002, only seven black actors/actresses won Oscars." Goldberg brought up the topic again during Wednesday’s (16Feb11) episode of The View, in which she admitted she had found the story "confusing", but conceded she was wrong to blast the writers’ credentials.
She told viewers: "I personally found the article really confusing, and as I said, I was also quite hurt that Cuba Gooding, Jr., Louis Gossett, Jr. and myself were not included in this expose about black Hollywood. But for saying it was shoddy reporting, I apologise New York Times."

The reality TV star passes the milestone on Thursday (17Feb11), but she began celebrating two days early when Waits surprised her with a bright yellow Lexus, a day after the pair enjoyed a romantic Valentine’s Day meal together.
Hilton was photographed hugging and kissing Waits after the sports car was delivered to her driveway.
