JACKSON BROWNE and ALICE COOPER are teaming up to help raise cash for the families of Tucson, Arizona shooting tragedy in January (11) and promote civility in the state.
The two rock veterans have put together an all-star line-up of musicians, including Sam Moore, Nils Lofgren and David Crosby for a benefit show at the Tucson Convention Center in March (11).
All proceeds will benefit the charity Community Foundation for Southern Arizona and the Fund for Civility, Respect, and Understanding.
The money will help those caught up is the horror of Jared Lee Loughner’s alleged attempted assassination of U.S. Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords on 8 January (11).
Giffords was shot in the head outside a grocery store just outside Tucson during her first Congress on Your Corner of 2011. Six of the 20 people shot died. Giffords survived the attempt on her life.

Reggae star BUJU BANTON confessed his shame to boasting about drugs to an undercover agent in court on Wednesday (16Feb11).
The Grammy Award winner has been charged with several cocaine-related counts, but he insists all he’s guilty of is trying to impress a U.S. government informant with details of a fictional drug deal.
The Jamaican testified in a Tampa, Florida courthouse that he met the man during a flight from Spain in July 2009 and they plotted a drug deal.
Banton told the court he never intended to follow through with the plan.
Wednesday’s hearing marked the start of his second trial. The jury in his first trial were left deadlocked.
Stephen Marley was among the witnesses testifying about Banton’s character on the reggae star’s behalf.
He faces life in prison if he’s found guilty.

Singer/actor DAVID CASSIDY has had his driving privileges suspended for six months after pleading no contest to DUI.
He will also serve a year of probation.
Cassidy was arrested in Florida in November (10) after local police spotted his car weaving through traffic. He failed a field sobriety test.
The 60-year-old former Partridge Family star entered his plea at a hearing on Wednesday (16Feb11).

Boxing champ-turned-movie and TV star MIKE TYSON has revealed his first fight was over a pet bird.
The fearsome sportsman and avid pigeon fancier will go public with his love for bird racing in new reality show Taking on Tyson, which premieres in America next month (Mar11) - and he insists he’s always been a fan of his feathered friends.
And it was defending his passion as a child that first made him realise he was a fighter.
The Hangover star says, "I was nine or 10 years old, and I have 200 birds (sic). I showed the birds to people who I thought were my friends, and they got a bunch of guys to come and snatch my birds.
"One guy said, ‘You want it?’ There was blood on my face, and I tried to fight him. I was scared to death.
"I didn’t really beat him up, but I hit him more than he hit me so I thought I won… That was the beginning of my fighting life."

LIAM NEESON has found a cure for the pain of ingrown toenails - he undergoes regular pedicure treatments to keep his feet in tip-top condition.
The A-Team star, 58, reveals his late wife, actress Natasha Richardson, would have a beautician come to their home in New York and pamper her and her mother Vanessa Redgrave.
It was after seeing the "look of bliss" on Redgrave’s face during one beauty session that he decided to give it a try - and he’s amazed at the manicurist’s skills.
He says, "I’m a late convert to it. Because of this gorgeous, gorgeous little woman called Jackie in New York, she’s from Brazil, she would come and do my wife’s feet and fingernails, and she’d come and do my mother-in-law’s, and everytime I would pass through (the room) I’d see this whole process and this look of bliss on my mother-in-law’s face.
"It’s changed my life around. I used to have ingrown toenails for 30 years, and this gorgeous little creature just gauged them out, and it was instant relief after like, 20 minutes."

Hit TV drama BIG LOVE is helping to dispel the myth that multi-partner sex is a good thing, according to the show’s star GINNIFER GOODWIN.
The actress admits she’s often thanked by complete strangers for helping to show randy husbands the downside of threesomes and foursomes.
Goodwin, who plays one of a polygamist’s three wives on the show, says, "Women come up to me on the street a lot… They all say, ‘Thank you so much… because my husband or boyfriend or lover wanted to bring additional women into the bedroom before we saw your show.’" Bill Paxton plays her Mormon husband in the hit series and her co-wives are Chloe Sevigny and Jeanne Tripplehorn.

MARCIA GAY HARDEN has defended her decision to star in a new TV film based on the sensational Italian murder trial of American student AMANDA KNOX.
The dramatisation, titled Amanda Knox: Murder on Trial in Italy, features Heroes actress Hayden Panettiere as the college student convicted of killing her roommate Meredith Kercher in 2007. Knox was sentenced to 26 years in prison in 2009.
The movie, due to air on U.S. network Lifetime later this month (Feb11), has drawn criticism from both girls’ parents, while Knox’s mother and father have threatened legal action if the film is released.
But Harden, who portrays Knox’s mother Edda Mellas, insists the film only states the facts - and she made sure to read through the judge’s official report to fully understand the murder case.
Speaking on U.S. talk show The View on Wednesday (16Feb11), she says, "I feel respectful of how Lifetime has created a film that, I feel, shows both sides of the story. We’re not saying we’ve got answers, we’re showing facts as facts available for anyone… Whether she (Knox) did it or she didn’t do it, that’s not for me to say.
"I downloaded the judge’s report, you know, ‘Was this knife on the table…?’ Every single minute detail, prosecutor’s defence, judge’s opinion… I looked at it and we have reasonable doubt in this country (America), and I looked at the role and thought, ‘Mama found some reasonable doubt.’" However, Harden refused to try and arrange a meeting to meet Knox’s mother - because she didn’t want to be swayed to act differently in the film.
She adds, "It would have felt quite inappropriate to meet her because we’re telling the Lifetime story, not her story." Panettiere previously spoke out in defence of the TV film, urging Knox’s parents to watch it before passing judgement and insisting nothing in the movie will impact the family’s appeal against the conviction.

A seven-month extortion investigation connected to leaked phone conversations between MEL GIBSON and his ex-girlfriend has concluded and now Los Angeles prosecutors must decide if either should face criminal charges.
Gibson claimed Russian musician Oksana Grigorieva tried to extort millions from him by threatening to go public with the recorded phone conversations, in which the angry actor/director hurled abusive and foul language at his ex after she announced their romance was over.
Gibson is already accused of domestic violence after a fight between the former couple at his Malibu, California home in January, 2010.
Grigorieva faces a tough prison sentence if she’s convicted of extortion.

CELINE DION has been booked to sing at the Oscars as part of the ceremony’s annual tribute to the stars who have passed.
According to Eonline.com, the new mum will sing Smile at the ceremony for the In Memoriam segment.
Dion already holds the record for the most vocal performances at the Academy Awards - this will be her sixth time.
She last performed I Knew I Loved You in 2006 as part of a salute to composer Ennio Morricone.
Gwyneth Paltrow, Randy Newman, Mandy Moore and Florence Welch have already been booked to perform the nominated Best Songs at the Oscars on 27 February (11).

HALLE BERRY has emerged victorious in her custody battle with ex-boyfriend GABRIEL AUBRY after a judge granted her permission to travel with her daughter.
The actress became embroiled in a legal fight with Aubry in December (10), when the model filed a paternity petition asking to be officially recognised as the father of two-year-old Nahla following the couple’s split last year.
At the time, Berry and Aubry had not filed for child custody, visitation or support.
Berry subsequently quit a role in Garry Marshall’s romantic comedy New Year’s Eve, in which she was set to play Jon Bon Jovi’s lover, so she could focus on the court battle.
And, during a hearing in Los Angeles on Wednesday (16Feb11), a judge ruled Berry would be able to take Nahla with her on film shoots across the U.S.
The Oscar winner’s lawyer, Neal Hersh, tells TMZ.com, "We are pleased the judge took the time to deal with this very imminent and important issue. The judge read a great deal of paperwork and gave us time to argue.
"Halle is very pleased with the judge’s order." Aubry withdrew his custody petition following the ruling, but is continuing to pursue the paternity action.
As a result of the custody case, Berry has reportedly chosen to return to work on New Year’s Eve, although she will play a different role after Katherine Heigl was cast as her replacement.

JUSTIN BIEBER has tackled some tough issues in a candid new Rolling Stone interview, speaking out against abortion and sex.
The Christian pop superstar opens up for the first time about his thoughts on a number of hot button issues in the piece, which appears in the upcoming issue of the music publication.
After stating he doesn’t believe in abortion, Bieber adds, "It’s like killing a baby." And when reporter Vanessa Grigoriadis asks him where he stands on abortion for rape victims, the Baby singer answers, "I think that’s really sad, but everything happens for a reason. I guess I haven’t been in that position, so I wouldn’t be able to judge that." Bieber also laments the lack of universal healthcare in the U.S. and states he doesn’t expect to ever become an American citizen, adding, "Canada’s the best country in the world. We go to the doctor and we don’t need to worry about paying him, but here (in the U.S.), your whole life, you’re broke because of medical bills." The 16 year old, who is reportedly dating fellow teen star Selena Gomez, also offers up his thoughts on sex before marriage.

LADY GAGA has scored the 1,000th number one on America’s Billboard Hot 100 chart after crashing in at the top with her new song BORN THIS WAY.
The track, which was released to much fanfare on Friday (11Feb11), has also entered high on the influential Radio Songs countdown, breaking Janet Jackson’s 10-year-old record for the most-played debut.
Thrilled Gaga, who performed the song at the Grammy Awards on Sunday (13Feb11) tells Billboard.com, "It is a tremendous honour. To be the 1,000th number one on Billboard… I would be silly not to say this is the greatest honour of my career… I couldn’t be more blessed to have the fans that I have." The new tune also breaks Britney Spears’ record as the highest debuting female artist - fans downloaded 448,000 copies of Born This Way, which is now the third largest debut among all digital tracks behind Flo Rida’s Right Round and the Black Eyed Peas’ Boom Boom Pow.
The song is the 19th title to debut at number one in the Hot 100’s 52-year history.

Reality TV star KOURTNEY KARDASHIAN has dismissed "crazy" reports she’s engaged to wed boyfriend SCOTT DISICK, insisting a U.S. tabloid "exclusive" is completely fabricated.
A Life & Style magazine story suggested Disick’s proposal to his longterm girlfriend had been filmed for the finale of Kardashian’s hit show Kourtney and Kim Take New York, but the couple was keeping the news under wraps until the episode aired in April (11).
A source told the publication, "The family is really happy about Scott and Kourtney’s engagement but they’re trying to keep it a secret so it’s a huge surprise on the show." But Kardashian, mother to Disick’s 14-month-old son Mason, has laughed off the rumour with a post on her Twitter.com page.
She writes, "WOW!! Where do the mags come up with this stuff? And claiming exclusives? Come on now." Asked directly by one of her followers if there is any truth to the engagement news, she responds, "Absolutely not! This is crazy!"

JACK BLACK has been given the honour of naming a baby panda at a zoo in Atlanta, Georgia.
The Kung Fu Panda star flew in for the naming ceremony on Tuesday (15Feb11) and decided to call the three-month-old Po after his character from the hit animated movie and its upcoming sequel.
Little Po was the only endangered species born in a U.S. zoo last year (10).
Dreamworks studio bosses behind the Kung Fu Panda franchise have also donated an undisclosed amount to the zoo’s panda conservation programme.
