SKINNER: ‘RECORD DEAL WAS LIKE PRISON STRETCH’

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:26 pm

Rapper MIKE SKINNER is relieved his record contract is coming to a close - because walking away from a major label is like "ending a long prison stretch".
The star shot to fame in 2002 with the release of The Streets’ debut album Original Pirate Material and he has just released his fifth and final record, Computers and Blues.
Skinner recently admitted he would have happily ended his deal with Warners in 2006 but legal reasons prevented him from doing so - and he’s ecstatic his commitment to the record label is almost over.
He tells Britain’s The Sun, "It’s like ending a long prison stretch. I’m leaving in 11 weeks, when my contract ends. I’ll be given my belongings and met at the gates by my criminal friends and we’ll go out and re-offend within days. I’m not going to do The Streets any more, I’m never going to be able to better this album. And that’s a great feeling.
"There comes a time when you’ve had so much success, you’ve got so much money, there’s so much madness, you tend to end up destroying yourself.
"I’m relieved I won’t have to play that game anymore. I’m relieved to be outside of the traditional album cycle. I can do what I want now."

FIRTH REFUSES TO EVER BLAST HIS MOVIE FLOPS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:24 pm

COLIN FIRTH refuses to slate any of his movies - because he doesn’t want to offend or upset anyone he’s worked with.
The Brit has starred in more than 30 films during his career, but has only achieved great acclaim for his recent roles as stuttering monarch George VI in The King’s Speech and a gay professor in A Single Man - both of which have garnered him Academy Award nominations.
But despite admitting he has been a part of several flops, the modest star insists he’d never publicly slam any of his films - because he’s still close to a lot of people he has previously worked with.
When CNN’s Piers Morgan asks him what his worst film is, he replies, "No, we don’t go there. There are a few, but we can’t you see. It’s not because I’m queasy about them… but the trouble is there will have been people I like who had been involved - there’ll have been collaborators, colleagues, producers and fellow actors and if you get into the business of pointing a finger at a film and saying that was a pile of old c**p and there was 50 people who were invested in it as well then we’re all going down."

VON FURSTENBERG’S FEARS OVER SKI CRASH

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:23 pm

Fashion designer DIANE VON FURSTENBERG feared she would be disfigured for life after a horrifying ski accident last month (Jan11).
The style guru was airlifted to hospital after another skier collided with her during a holiday in Aspen, Colorado with her husband, businessman Barry Diller.
She was convinced her shocking injuries, which included a broken nose and a shattered cheekbone, would drastically change her appearance because medics told her she might need "complete facial reconstruction".
But the incident did have one happy consequence - Von Furstenberg has vowed never to undergo cosmetic surgery to alter her looks.
She tells the New York Daily News, "If I ever had any desire to have plastic surgery, after this week, I know for sure, I would not want it. I was so terrified that I would lose my old face… I don’t want anybody else’s face. I don’t want a younger face. I just want my old face back."

Constance Meester has now been ordered by a court not to come within 100 yards (91 metres) of the woman and her son, and to stay away from the family’s home in San Fernando Valley.

COMEDIAN KINISON ‘FATHERED LOVECHILD’

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:20 pm

Late comedian SAM KINISON fathered a lovechild, according to DNA tests obtained by a friend who has been paying child support for the girl for years.
The funnyman, who was joined by rockers including Steven Tyler and Billy Idol in his 1988 novelty cover of The Troggs’ Wild Thing, died in a car crash in 1992.
Now his pal, comic Carl La Bove, is claiming Kinison slept with his wife more than 20 years ago and fathered a child with her.
La Bove has been paying maintenance for nearly 13 years after splitting from the girl’s mother, but he has now filed legal papers claiming the child is Kinison’s.
DNA tests taken from the funnyman’s brother Bill allegedly show a 99.8 per cent likelihood the late TV star is the father of the unnamed offspring, who is now 21.
The test results also rule out any possibility La Bove is the father.
Bill Kinison says, "She looks like she’d be Sam’s daughter. Sam and Carl lived a lifestyle that was pretty promiscuous… I’d want to get that off me too."

TROUBLED ARQUETTE REPLACES VICK ON OPRAH

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 9:23 am

OPRAH WINFREY has landed another troubled star to replace disgraced American footballer MICHAEL VICK - the chat show titan will be the first to interview DAVID ARQUETTE on TV following his stint in rehab.
The media mogul made a bet with CNN newsman Piers Morgan over who would land the first in-depth interview with the sportsman, who was jailed in 2007 for his part in a dog fighting ring.
However Vick, who spent 18 months behind bars, pulled out just days later, saying, "After careful consideration, I will need to postpone the taping of the Oprah Winfrey interview scheduled for February 22. I admire and respect Oprah and hope to be able to participate in an interview in the future." But Winfrey has managed to fill the empty slot with another big interview - she’ll quiz Arquette about his separation from wife Courteney Cox last year (10), his strange behaviour afterwards, and his subsequent stint in rehab.
Arquette famously went on Howard Stern’s radio show after his separation was announced to reveal intimate aspects of his and Cox’s love life.

PRICE ‘RELIEVED’ COP PROBE INTO DAUGHTER’S BURN IS OVER

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 9:23 am

British model-turned-TV star KATIE PRICE is "relieved" she has been cleared in a police investigation over a burn her young daughter sustained on holiday.
Price was quizzed by cops earlier this month (Feb11) after officials received a complaint that her young tot Princess Tiaamii had received a burn while in her grandmother’s care.
The news sparked a public war of words between Price and her ex-husband Peter Andre over the injury.
Now the star has revealed the investigation into the burn has been concluded.
She says in a statement, "The police have informed me that, having looked into this, that they are satisfied that the account provided of how the injury was sustained and the nature of that injury was accurate. It follows that they consider there are no child protection issues.
"I am so relieved at the police findings… Although I am naturally disappointed with the way my ex-husband has behaved in relation to this incident I want to make clear that I consider him to be a good father to Princess and Junior. I hope he believes the same of me and that Princess and Junior can now be allowed to grow up out of the public domain and without being the centre of such allegations."

JACKSON ESTATE HAS PULLED IN $310 MILLION SINCE STAR’S DEATH

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 9:20 am

MICHAEL JACKSON’s estate has made a staggering $310 million (£206 million) in revenue since his death, according to court records.
The pop superstar passed away with massive debts amounting to a mammoth $400 million (£266 million), boosted by a huge number of creditors demanding alleged unpaid monies after his demise.
But papers filed in a Los Angeles court on Thursday (17Feb11) show the Thriller star’s estate is heading back in to the black thanks to a huge surge in posthumous record, film and merchandising sales.
The estate administrators have now paid off $159 million (£106 million) of the pop star’s debts.
Court papers state, "Although there remain unresolved creditor claims, pending litigation and additional challenging business, tax and legal issues, and the estate is not yet in a condition to be closed, the executors have made substantial progress in reducing the estate’s debt."

BARLOW & OWEN PUT BRITS BAND HONOUR DOWN TO WILLIAMS’ RETURN

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 9:20 am

Barlow tells Britain’s Daily Star, "Obviously there’s been a big change for us this year - we’ve added to our band. Our first BRIT award as a five-piece is massive for us, so thanks, Rob." Owen adds, "It’s all down to Rob."

STING’S STYLER: ‘OUR SEXUAL OPENNESS IS POSITIVE FOR OUR KIDS’

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 9:20 am

Rocker STING’s wife TRUDIE STYLER is adamant the couple’s children have no issues with their liberal attitude to sex - insisting it’s more "positive" than having parents who aren’t affectionate.
The stars, who wed in 1992, have famously discussed their bedroom antics in great detail, claiming they enjoy hours of Tantric sex.
Sting and Styler caused a stir again after they recently posed in a series of risque shots for Harper’s Bazaar magazine, but the film producer is convinced the pair’s four kids have no qualms with their touchy-feely ways.
She tells Popeater.com, "I think they’re probably used to it by now. I’m sure it’s much more positive than having parents who show no affection, or who don’t even seem to like each other. I’m happy if we’re an example of how a relationship can work for many years.
"I don’t go out of my way to talk about our private life, but sometimes small things get blown out of all proportion. I don’t really think the public really knows anything about our private life – they just think they do!"

OVERWHELMED GAGA BROKE DOWN IN TEARS DURING STAIRWELL CHAT

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 9:17 am

LADY GAGA broke down in tears during a recent interview for U.S. news show 60 MINUTES as she sat on the stairwell outside the apartment where she lived as a child, surrounded by TV lights and cameras.
The footage never made it to newsman Anderson Cooper’s televised interview, which aired on Sunday (13Feb11) but it was shown on Access Hollywood on Thursday night (17Feb11).
A suddenly vulnerable Gaga, real name Stefani Germanotta, stares into one camera and starts sobbing, whispering to Cooper, "Just looking at these cameras in this hallway, it’s like… It’s validation for me of years and years of struggle and passion." The 60 Minutes crew and Cooper followed Gaga around the world for the news special, shooting almost 15 hours of footage over three months.
Gaga and Cooper had to shoot their chat outside her old apartment in New York because the current owner was too ill to let them come in and shoot the interview.

Also on the list of famous creditors is U.S. broadcaster Barbara Walters and film producer Harvey Weinstein. It is not known how much, if any, creditors will be able to recover through the bankruptcy proceedings.
