THOUSANDS FLOCK TO RADIOHEAD ‘GIG’ DESPITE WARNING

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:23 pm

Thousands of RADIOHEAD fans flocked to see the band in Tokyo, Japan on Friday (18Feb11), despite their publicist issuing a statement revealing they would not be there.
The group sparked rumours they would be playing a surprise gig in the city’s Hachiko Square in Shibuya when they wrote a cryptic message on Twitter.com, stating, "Hachiko Square Shibuya, 59 minutes at 18 Friday." A publicist for the band shot down the reports, insisting the message was not meant to spark rumours of a gig.
The spokesperson said, "The band will not be in Japan tomorrow, so people should not go to Shibuya expecting to see the band in person." But hundreds of revellers still turned out in the hope of catching a glimpse of the musicians and were left infuriated by the no-show.
One fan, Yukimi Watanabe, tells NME.com, "I can’t believe they got us all out here and then cancelled it. But it’s a really fun vibe. There are loads of other Radiohead fans to hang out with."

CYRUS CREDITS COBAIN WITH CHANGING HIS OUTLOOK ON LIFE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:23 pm

BILLY RAY CYRUS shunned the spotlight when his friend KURT COBAIN died - because it made him realise he was too caught up in his own fame.
Country star Cyrus and the rocker became friends after a chance meeting and they went on to bond over their young daughters, Miley and Frances Bean, who were both born in 1992.
Cyrus tells GQ magazine, "That’s what we talked about, that we each had a little girl." The Achy Breaky Heart hitmaker admits he was devastated to hear the news when Cobain died in 1994 from a gunshot wound to the head in an apparent suicide.
He cancelled a planned tour and retreated out of the spotlight to spend time with his family and mourn his friend - and Cobain’s death proved a turning point for Cyrus.
He tells GQ magazine, "There comes a point where you just got to step back. That’s how I ended up out here (at his Tennessee home). I stepped back. I was supposed to go and do another world tour. I said no. I cancelled my tour. Kurt Cobain had just died, and that really had an impact on me.
"He was one of those guys that became a friend to me that I never expected."

SKINNER HOPES TO RAISE AWARENESS OF FATIGUE SYNDROME

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:20 pm

Rapper MIKE SKINNER felt compelled to open up about his battle with chronic fatigue syndrome to raise awareness of the condition.
The Streets star took time out of the spotlight in 2008 as he battled the symptoms of the condition, and wrote a track, Trying To Kill M.E., to document his fight with the debilitating disorder.
He’s hoping by going public with his health problems, he’ll make his fans more aware of the common complaint.
Skinner tells Britain’s The Sun, "People don’t understand it and they don’t even trust it. It’s important to mention it so gradually we can all realise that it’s not just depression. That’s what people tend to think.
"I was incapacitated. It seems to have faded now. But at the time I think I was working too hard. It was important to just mention it really. It was such a big thing for me. It lasted about a year at its worst. I had to stop working.
"I spent quite a long time just watching James Bond films, which I’ve got quite fond memories of in a way."

BILLY RAY: ‘I SHOULD HAVE BEEN A BETTER PARENT’

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:20 pm

BILLY RAY CYRUS regrets becoming a friend to his children, insisting he "should have been a better parent" to MILEY and her siblings.
The country star has always been close to his children, Miley, Braison and Noah, as well as estranged wife Tish’s kids - Brandi and Trace - from a previous relationship.
Cyrus has often accompanied the Hannah Montana star to red carpet events and the teen star has previously admitted they enjoy a relaxed relationship.
But after watching Miley become embroiled in a string of scandals in recent months, including controversy over video footage showing her smoking a legal high from a bong, the Achy Breaky Heart hitmaker admits he now wishes he had been more firm with her when she was growing up.
He tells GQ magazine, "How many interviews did I give and say, ‘You know what’s important between me and Miley is I try to be a friend to my kids’? I said it a lot. And sometimes I would even read other parents might say, ‘You don’t need to be a friend, you need to be a parent.’ Well, I’m the first guy to say to them right now: You were right. I should have been a better parent."

BRAND’S ARTHUR INSPIRED BY ELKANN

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:18 pm

RUSSELL BRAND had an unlikely inspiration for his lead role in the remake of ARTHUR - he studied the lifestyle of millionaire playboy LAPO ELKANN.
The British actor steps into funnyman Dudley Moore’s shoes for the role of lovesick drunk Arthur Bach in the upcoming version of the 1981 movie.
And he’s revealed the main source for his onscreen creation - it’s based on industrialist and Fiat heir Elkann, after Brand was stunned by his behaviour during a Los Angeles Lakers basketball game last year (10).
Brand tells Total Film magazine, "I looked at the heir to the Fiat fortune and the way he dressed. I also saw him at a basketball game and the ball came near him and he lashed out at it in a drunken way. I don’t know why he did it. Perhaps he saw it as part of some demonic fantasy?"

KING PRAISES MORGAN FOLLOWING LOW RATINGS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:14 pm

U.S. newsman LARRY KING has defended his CNN talk show replacement PIERS MORGAN after his programme received poor ratings, putting the low viewer figures down to too much hype ahead of its launch.
The 77 year old announced last summer (10) he was leaving his nightly show and the British TV personality was revealed as the new host.
Morgan dominated headlines ahead of the programme’s January (11) relaunch - but his interviews have failed to win over as many viewers as King’s chat show.
However, the veteran newsman has praised Morgan as "a fine broadcaster", insisting the show may have been "oversold" to the American public.
He tells Britain’s Radio 4, "I think he’s a fine broadcaster. I haven’t seen a lot, but the times I’ve seen, they have been fine.
"One of the problems they did was to oversell it - they said he was going to be dangerous, he was going to be water-cooler talk, it was ‘Wait till you see me, I’m different.’ Well, he’s good - but he’s not that dangerous. Maybe there’s one thing, he’s been oversold."

HUDGENS COMFORT ATE ON ‘INTENSE’ SUCKER PUNCH SET

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:14 pm

VANESSA HUDGENS found filming her new movie SUCKER PUNCH so "draining" she began comfort eating to help her cope with the intense shoot.
The High School Musical star plays a member of a group of female inmates, alongside Abbie Cornish and Jena Malone, who try to break out of an asylum in the forthcoming film.
Hudgens trained with a team of experienced Navy officers for the role, but she admits the actresses all ditched their diets once they began filming the dramatic scenes.
She tells Britain’s Total Film magazine, "Some of the scenes were really intense. I haven’t done that much heavy drama before and some scenes were just so draining.
"We would all be a total disaster afterwards and cheat on our diets together and eat cake to comfort ourselves."

KING’S SPEECH IS BIGGEST EVER OSCARS FAVOURITE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:14 pm

Hit movie THE KING’S SPEECH is almost guaranteed to triumph at the Academy Awards later this month (Feb11) - bookmakers have given it the shortest odds in Oscars history.
Bosses at the U.K.’s William Hill are so convinced the main honours at the upcoming ceremony are a foregone conclusion, they’ve already paid out on all bets on Colin Firth to win Best Actor.
They had previously slashed the odds to 1/66, beating their previous record rating of 1/50 for Dame Helen Mirren’s portrayal of British monarch Queen Elizabeth II in 2006 movie The Queen.
And they now make The King’s Speech 1/6 to scoop Best Film, down from its original odds of 15/8.
William Hill spokesman Joe Crilly says, "We are so confident that Colin will win the Best Actor Oscar that we are now taking bets on how long his winner’s speech will be. He has already bagged the three big awards so far this year and is just 1/66 to scoop the biggest of them all." The 2011 Academy Awards will take place on 27 February (11).

RICHARDS STRUGGLING TO HELP DAUGHTERS ‘COMPREHEND’ SHEEN’S PROBLEMS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:32 pm

DENISE RICHARDS is struggling to explain ex-husband CHARLIE SHEEN’s problems to their young daughters, revealing "it’s not easy" trying to help them understand his issues.
The Two and a Half Men star hit the headlines last month (Jan11) after a wild night of partying with porn stars and pals at his Hollywood home ended with a hospital visit. The actor was treated for a hernia and is now currently undergoing rehab treatment at his home in Los Angeles.
The incident came just months after police were called to Sheen’s New York hotel suite in October (10) after he allegedly trashed the room in a rage during a night of passion with an adult actress.
Richards and her two girls, Sam, six, and five-year-old Lola, were staying in the same hotel at the time, and the former Bond girl admits dealing with Sheen’s dramas have been difficult.
She tells U.S. talk show The View, "I mean, you know this is Charlie’s lifestyle. He makes no bones about it. And it is what it is… What can you say? It’s a very difficult situation in dealing with the subject. This has been something I have dealt with for years. This is not a new situation. There are times where his life is more colourful than others, more public than others, and as the kids get older it’s a difficult thing. I’m learning as I go too.
"I have never had to deal with this and this was a subject I had hoped to talk with my children about as they got older. But it’s hard. I mean there are books that are out there. One in particular… it explains addiction to children. There are images and pictures that a child can understand. I don’t know what they fully comprehend from these conversations. They don’t know what some of these things are. So I do the best I can and it’s not easy." Sheen and Richards were married from 2002 to 2005. The troubled actor is currently in divorce proceedings with estranged wife Brooke Mueller, following their Christmas Day bust-up in 2009.
