JUSTIN BIEBER has proved he’s a force to be reckoned with in the charts and on the basketball courts - he was named the most valuable player (MVP) at the NBA All-Star celebrity game on Friday night (18Feb11).
The Baby hitmaker was part of the starry line-up, which also included actor Zachary Levi, R&B singer Trey Songz and Mariah Carey’s husband Nick Cannon.
Bieber scored eight points for his team to claim the MVP trophy - even though his side lost the game 49-54.
During the match, Bieber joked, "I’m just running back and forth. I’m controlling this whole team. I’m just kidding."

ASHLEE SIMPSON is starting to move on following her split from rocker PETE WENTZ - by house hunting in Los Angeles.
The singer stunned fans by filing for divorce from Wentz last week (ends11Feb11), citing "irreconcilable differences".
She is reportedly now staying at her sister Jessica and fiance Eric Johnson’s home with her young son Bronx until she finds a place of her own.
And on Wednesday (16Feb11) the 26 year old spent the day viewing properties around the Beverly Hills area with a real estate broker, according to UsMagazine.com.
A source tells the publication, "They drove by a few houses in the $3 to 4 million range. Ashlee didn’t get out of the car and was quiet and subdued. At one point, she was going to get out of the car but when she saw photographers she decided to stay in the car and then went home.
"The homes were two-storey traditional style homes in a family neighborhood. One of the houses was just up from the street from Coldwater Park where she and Pete like to take Bronx to play… The homes were also very close to Jessica’s house, which would be nice for her."

MILEY CYRUS has been handed the first-ever Global Action Youth Leadership Award for helping to inspire youngsters.
The Hannah Montana star was the guest of honour at the first Annual Global Action Awards Gala in California on Friday (18Feb11) and received the trophy from her idol, Hilary Duff.
Visibly moved by the honour, Cyrus told the audience, "I got to tell you that I never thought I would get an award from Hillary Duff. This is like a dream come true to me. She inspired me.
"I want (kids) to do something they love. Not something that seems like a chore because someone tells them that’s the right thing to do or what their parents want or what’s important to people around them, but what’s in their heart." Cyrus has been involved in several youth-focused organisations to help younger generations, including The Blessings in a Backpack programme and the Get Your Good On campaign. She also recently revealed charity work is high on her list of things to do in 2011 and she hopes to work as a missionary in Indonesia.

NO DOUBT star TOM DUMONT is celebrating the joys of fatherhood - his wife has given birth to their third son.
The guitarist and his wife Mieke welcomed Koa Thomas Dumont in the early hours of Saturday (19Feb11) - and they’re delighted with the new addition to their family.
In a post on his Twitter.com page, the star writes, "Baby boy & parents are great. Looks like his brothers! One more No Doubt baby in the world!" Koa joins brothers Ace Joseph and Rio Atticus and is the latest tot to join the No Doubt rockers - bassist Tony Kanal became a first-time father last month (Jan11), while Gwen Stefani is mum to Kingston and Zuma, and Adrian Young is dad to Mason.

WALK HARD star JENNA FISCHER was once jailed for running a red light and forgetting to show up in court.
A warrant for the actress’ arrest was issued after she failed to show before a judge while she was studying for her finals at a college in Missouri, and two officers turned up at her apartment to arrest her.
She was handcuffed, taken to a nearby police station and booked - and she was so tired after a long night of cramming for her exams she asked if she could sleep in a holding cell while she waited for one of her college professors to arrive and bail her out.
Fischer recalls, "I asked, ‘Do you have a holding cell?’ And they (officers) said, ‘We do but there’s someone in there and we don’t think you wanna be in there’.
"I’m really tired, so I say, ‘I think I do… I wanna just lay down for a minute’. They say, ‘Well he’s been booked for assault’. And I go, ‘What kind of assault?’ And they say, ‘With a bow and arrow’." Fischer decided to stay awake in the reception area and then came up with a fun idea to pass the time - she posed for a second mugshot that she had printed on a coffee cup for her father at Christmas.
She adds, "The mug said, ‘Daddy’s little girl’."

Actress ROSIE O’DONNELL discovered an awful family tragedy while tracing her family tree as part of U.S. TV show WHO DO YOU THINK YOU ARE? - her great grandfather’s first wife died from her injuries in a kerosene oil lamp explosion.
The A League of Their Own star discovered the photo of the mysterious woman that hung in her childhood home was that of her great grandfather’s beloved Anna Murtha - and she was shocked to discover records that suggested the woman suffered for an agonising 20 days before she died in December 1881.
The actress and TV personality says, "That’s a long time to suffer… I’m really upset to hear that my great-grandfather’s first wife, Anna, died so tragically. I’ve got to find out more." O’Donnell tracked down newspaper clippings about the tragedy at the Brooklyn Historical Society in New York and discovered the woman was preparing her grandfather’s breakfast with "an infant in her arm" when the child pulled the lamp over the stove - setting Anna alight.
The paper article read, "The woman lingered in great agony" until she died.
But the child was unharmed.
O’ Donnell added, "How heroic. She knew she was on fire; she probably did what every mother would do - save the child first. What happened to that infant?" The star discovered the baby was called Elizabeth - and she was her grandfather’s half-sister. That find led O’Donnell to Elizabeth’s 10 grandchildren, by her eldest son Christopher. She brought her new relatives together for a luncheon in their native New Jersey.
O’Donnell then traced her great-grandfather and his family back to Kildare, Ireland, where they fled to Canada from great poverty, famine and life in a workhouse. She even visited the Birr workhouse where her relatives lived.

British actors JAMES CORDEN and ROB BRYDON were among the mourners who turned out for the funeral of Welsh actress MARGARET JOHN on Friday (18Feb11).
John, best known in the U.K. for her recent role in hit comedy Gavin & Stacey, passed away at a hospital in Swansea, Wales earlier this month (Feb11) following a short illness.
Her comedy co-stars Corden and Brydon, as well as Ruth Jones and Larry Lamb, joined her family and friends to remember the star, with Corden leading the tributes at the ceremony.
He said, "She was a great actress and an incredible lady and will be sadly missed. All our thoughts are with the family of Margaret."

Hollywood legend CLARK GABLE’s grandson is suing a man he alleges stabbed him in the rib cage during a night out in California in 2009.
Clark Gable III was partying at a private home in Calabasas in August 2009 when he was involved in a fight with other guests.
He was stabbed in the fracas, reportedly causing lung damage, and spent a week in hospital.
The star has now filed legal papers claiming he suffered "profuse bleeding, a punctured and collapsed lung" and "could not breathe" following the incident.
The documents also state Gable had to be airlifted to UCLA Medical Center, where "he was placed in intensive care… for seven days and he almost died".
Gable allegedly woke up with a re-collapsed lung a day after he was released from the facility and had to be rushed back to the hospital for a three-week stay, during which time he underwent extensive surgery.
He is suing for more than $25,000 (£16,670) in damages amid claims he is "still recovering from this nightmare", according to TMZ.com.

Producer and publicist WALTER SELTZER has died at the age of 96.
The moviemaker passed away at a retirement home in California from an age-related illness on Friday (18Feb11), according to officials at the Motion Picture & Television Fund (MPTF).
Seltzer worked in film publicity from the 1930s until the 1950s but took four years out from the industry to serve in the Marines during World War II.
He also produced several movies including Soylent Green, The Omega Man, Shake Hands With the Devil and One-Eyed Jacks for Marlon Brando and Charlton Heston’s production companies in the 1960s and 1970s.
He spent much of the 1980s as a fundraiser for the MPTF, co-chairing a campaign that raised $50 million (£35 million). Seltzer was on the Board of Trustees of the organisation.

THE SOCIAL NETWORK has another honour to add to its growing list of accolades - it has taken the top prize at the American Cinema Editors (ACE) Awards.
The movie, starring Jesse Eisenberg and Andrew Garfield, is among the frontrunners for this month’s (Feb11) Oscars, and it was awarded the Best Edited Feature Film (Dramatic) at the Los Angeles ceremony on Saturday (19Feb11).
Best Edited Feature Film (Comedy or Musical) went to Alice in Wonderland, while Toy Story 3 was named the Best Edited Animation Feature Film.
Other winners at the prizegiving include Temple Grandin (Best Edited Miniseries or Motion Picture for Television) and Modern Family (Best Edited Half Hour Series for Television).
The ACE Awards often serve as a good indicator of the eventual Best Picture 
Academy Award winner - over the past five years, the honour has matched the Oscar for Editing and Best Picture each time, except in 2007.

KRISTEN STEWART is sporting a cast on her arm after injuring herself while filming THE TWILIGHT SAGA: BREAKING DAWN, according to a U.K. report.
The actress flew in to Los Angeles earlier this week (begs14Feb11) and was snapped at the airport with her left hand in bandages.
Rumours have been rife about the cause of Stewart’s injury, and Britain’s The People newspaper claims the star was hurt while shooting a scene for the latest instalment of the Twilight franchise.
A spokesperson for Stewart had not commented on the injury as WENN went to press.

Model-turned-actress NOEMIE LENOIR has opened up about her suicide attempt last May (10), revealing she was so depressed following the breakdown of a relationship she thought she was "poisoning" her son’s life.
The 31-year-old beauty, who has enjoyed roles in films including Rush Hour 3 and After the Sunset, was found unconscious in woodland in La Celle-Saint-Cloud, France, after allegedly ingesting a cocktail of drugs and alcohol.
The star has confessed she was battling "a very deep depression" and felt "really alone" after moving to Paris to be with former soccer star boyfriend Claude Makelele, the father of her six-year-old son, Kelyan.
She tells Britain’s Guardian Weekend magazine, "Last May I did something really, really stupid. I came straight from New York to living in Claude’s house (in Paris), and I really wanted it to work, and it didn’t work out. He hurt me… so I decided… It was like a bad, bad depression, a very deep depression. I felt really alone.
"After I tried to kill myself, when I woke up, I finally realised: Claude is not the man for me." Lenoir admits she was also racked with guilt about not being "good enough" for her son prior to her suicide bid.
She adds, "People say, ‘Didn’t she think about her son?’ But they don’t understand. I love my son so much. But I didn’t think I was good enough, I thought I was poison. Poison for me and poison for him. When I was depressed I felt like I was poisoning his life by being in it.
"I thought he would be better with his dad and my mum to look after him. I didn’t realise I was hurting anyone, until I woke up in the hospital and saw my mum crying."

Former Bond girl DENISE RICHARDS has turned to self-help parenting books to help her young daughters understand what’s going on with their troubled dad, CHARLIE SHEEN.
The actress admits the couple’s girls, six-year-old Sam and five-year-old Lola, are beginning to ask questions about the actor’s ongoing problems after encountering teasing at school - and she is using expert books to explain daddy’s an addict.
Sheen is currently rehabbing at his Hollywood home after a wild party ended with emergency workers taking him to hospital with a hernia.
And Richards admits the news about the incident and Sheen’s ongoing troubles has prompted her to seek help for difficult conversations she feels she has to have with her kids.
Appearing as a co-host on U.S. TV show The View on Friday (18Feb11), the actress said, "It’s easy to control what is on television in my house, but at school it does get difficult; this has been a difficult situation… I had to have a couple of conversations with them.
"There’s books out there for any other parent going through something similar to help a child learn about different things going on.
"This has been something I have dealt with for years… There are times where his (Sheen) life is more colourful than others, more public than others.
"This was a subject I had hoped to talk to my children about as they got older. It’s hard.
"There’s one (book) in particular… that explains addiction to children; there’s images and pictures that a child can understand. I don’t know what they fully comprehend from these conversations… I do the best I can… They love their dad and it is what it is."

OPRAH WINFREY’s girls school in South Africa has been rocked by another scandal after the body of a newborn baby was found in a bag belonging to a teenage student.
The 17 year old identified as the dead baby’s mother handed over the bag containing the infant to local hospital staff after she was admitted with excessive bleeding earlier this week (beg14Feb11).
The authorities believe the girl gave birth at the Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy for Girls in Johannesburg.
South African police have now launched an investigation, and have not ruled out foul play in the baby’s death.
A spokesman for Winfrey’s school has refused to comment on the matter because it involves a minor.
The latest scandal comes four years after the school’s former dorm matron was accused of molesting students. Virginia Tiny Makopo was eventually acquitted of the charges.
And in March, 2009, four pupils were expelled and another three suspended for alleged "inappropriate behaviour," which reportedly included "sexual misconduct".

HALLE BERRY’s estranged sister is reaching out to the actress to let "bygones be bygones" after reading about the star’s recent child custody battle.
The Oscar winner has not spoken to her siblings in five years, but eldest sister Renee claims she can’t understand why Berry has cut them out of her life.
Renee insists she hates seeing the actress fighting for custody of her daughter Nahla with her ex Gabriel Aubry - earlier this week (beg14Feb11) Berry was granted permission by a judge to travel with her daughter.
And her sibling is calling for Berry to get back in contact and let her family meet their niece.
Renee tells Britain’s Daily Mirror, "I’m sad to say it seems like she does not want anything to do with us. I have not spoken to her in about five years. I tried to contact her through her website, to congratulate her on her Oscar, but no one got back to me. She used to be very close to my brother Anthony, but she’s cut herself off from him now too. It makes us very upset - none of us understand why she feels the way she does…
"We are desperate to understand why Halle is so upset, why she feels she cannot be with us. Halle will always be my baby sister…
"It is sad because our grandmother Cora, who died in 2003, did not raise us to be apart like this… Halle needs to realise that at some point, you have to let bygones be bygones. You need to learn how to forgive."

HALLE BERRY’s estranged sister has spoken out to slam the actress’ allegations their dad was an abusive alcoholic, and insists she was also never aware of any racism the star endured at school.
The Oscar winner cut ties with her four siblings five years ago and her eldest sister, Renee Berry, has since reached out to the star to get back in contact.
Berry has previously discussed her father’s abusive and alcoholic ways, saying, "I saw my mother battered, and could not do anything to stop it. My father was tyrannical, lashing out at her for no reason." And the star claimed her dad Jerome sold his story of their estrangement "for a pack of beer and cigarettes" before his death in 2003.
But now her sibling has spoken out to defend their father, insisting he "was a good man".
She tells Britain’s Daily Mirror, "My father never beat any of us. He would spank us from time to time, but he never abused us. He liked a drink or two, like anyone else does, but he was not an alcoholic. My father was a good man who loved all his children - and it makes me upset when anyone says anything different." Renee also refutes claims Berry was subjected to bullying taunts throughout her school life in Ohio because of her ethnicity.
She adds, "I never saw any of that. Halle and her sister Heidi had lots of friends at school. I don’t remember racism being a problem."

PARIS HILTON’s pre-30th birthday celebration had a bittersweet ending - a thief stole her cake.
And it wasn’t just any old supermarket gateaux - the sweet treat cost a whopping $3,200 (£2,130) and featured absinthe.
The mystery robber made off with the cake after crashing the Los Angeles party on Tuesday night (15Feb11) - and then boasted about it online.
The man, calling himself Paz, posted a note on his Facebook.com page, which read, "I crashed Paris Hilton’s Birthday Party and Accidentally the Whole Cake. I woke up this morning with a birthday cake in my living room. It’s big. It’s red. It says ‘Paris’. And it’s f***ing delicious." He went on to reveal a pal named Kevin had sneaked him into the party and, after "drinking heavily" he made off with the cake after Hilton blew out the candles.
Paz ends his post by revealing, "I don’t know WTF (what the f**k) I’m going to do with it." Hilton herself has yet to confirm Paz’s story.

Soccer superstar DAVID BECKHAM may have to face a court battle over allegations he cheated on his wife VICTORIA with a prostitute - the sex worker has filed legal documents asking lawyers to order him to testify.
On Monday (14Feb11) Beckham was dealt a blow as his libel lawsuit over the In Touch article detailing the claims by Irma Nici was dismissed by U.S. District Judge Manuel Real for failing to produce evidence editors published the story with malice.
Now Nici has filed legal documents calling for lawyers to serve the sportsman with a deposition ordering him to appear in court over her allegations, which his representative has previously branded "untrue and ridiculous".
Documents, obtained by Britain’s Daily Mirror, reveal Beckham faces calls to be subjected to an "examination before an officer authorized to administer oaths" on 24 February (11).
Nici’s attorney Paul Jensen is expecting Beckham to appeal the deposition, but he’s adamant the star will have to go through with it at some point.
He tells the publication, "He may try to delay, reschedule or postpone it - but he can’t avoid it."
