ELLIS-BEXTOR PREDICTS SHOWBIZ FUTURE FOR SONS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:23 pm

SOPHIE ELLIS-BEXTOR will be shocked if her two sons refuse to follow her into the spotlight - because they’re already reaping the benefit of the singer’s "seductive lifestyle".
The British pop star is mum to six-year-old Sonny and Kit, two, her little boys with The Feeling bassist Richard Jones - and the singer can already see their names in lights.
Ellis-Bextor tells U.K. TV show Daybreak, "I’d be quite surprised if they’re not quite interested in it. It’s quite a seductive lifestyle. We do something we love - we hop up on stage and sing and dance about and play instruments. Why wouldn’t you want to do that really?" And the Murder on the Dancefloor hitmaker insists her eldest son is the perfect tour-mate when she hits the road, adding: "Just before Christmas, I had to go to Azerbaijan, to Baku, and it was only a three-day trip and I took Sonny with me and that was quite fun. He loved it. He was actually really sweet because I travel a lot and you do get used to all the airports and hotels and it was really nice to take someone who was truly in awe. ‘Look at that light! This hotel is beautiful, mummy!’ It was really sweet."

MOTT THE HOOPLE TAUGHT QUEEN HOW TO ROCK

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:23 pm

QUEEN stars BRIAN MAY and ROGER TAYLOR credit MOTT THE HOOPLE with inspiring them to embrace their flamboyance and become fully-fledged rock stars in the 1970s.
The Bohemian Rhapsody hitmakers were Mott the Hoople’s opening act on tour of America in 1974, and the Queen rockers admit it was on the road with the band where they cultivated their theatrical stage persona.
May explains, "That was when we learned how to be rock stars. Just as you thought the day was over, one of Mott would burst into your room, loaded with bottles and whatever else, and off you’d go again. It was very, very full-on and very, very exciting." And drummer Taylor is convinced it was Mott the Hoople’s liberal fans who encouraged Queen to develop their glam rock act.
He recalls, "Mott were perfect for us. They had an open-minded, very rock ‘n’ roll, insane audience. They were liberated, colourful - not the normal rock crowd… The shows got bigger, but it was rough. Fred (Mercury, frontman) wouldn’t get out of the van some nights. He and Brian had black and white fingernails and literally wore dresses, but the tough audiences in Liverpool and Glasgow and Newcastle loved us."

DITTO LEARNING TO BE ‘MIDDLE CLASS’

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:23 pm

GOSSIP star BETH DITTO is struggling to adjust to her newfound fortunes after growing up poor, admitting she now embarks on frenzied shopping sprees to ensure she is always stocked up.
Ditto and her six siblings were raised in Arkansas by their single mum, before the singer moved out at 13 to live with her aunt, and she admits it’s now a shock to have money in her bank account.
She says, "It took me a long time to realise we were living in poverty because I knew so many people who were worse off than us. Yeah, we didn’t have a telephone for most of my childhood. Being afraid that you’d come home and the water would be cut off. We weren’t neglected, but there just was not enough.
"I’m so used to identifying with poverty but I’m not poor any more and I hate it when people with money act like they’re poor. For a long time I just didn’t identify with being a middle-class person, but I’m learning how to do that." And Ditto reveals she has taken to buying in bulk to prepare for the worst while she is able to afford it.
She adds, "People do give me stuff but I have scarcity issues. I’m just like, I need as many pairs of socks as I can buy, while I have the money. And underwear. And crackers. I buy crackers like they’re going out of style. Like an old lady after the Depression. I’m just afraid of not having enough."

GALLAGHER EMPLOYS EX-WIFE KENSIT’S SON IN FASHION FIRM

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:20 pm

LIAM GALLAGHER is ensuring his clothing line is a family business - his former stepson JAMES works for the company.
The rocker launched his Pretty Green label in 2009, specialising in retro-style trousers, hats, cagoules and t-shirts.
And he’s now taken on 18-year-old James, his ex-wife Patsy Kensit’s son from her marriage to Jim Kerr, to help out at the organisation.
She tells Britain’s Celebs on Sunday magazine, "James is working for Liam’s clothing company now, which is fabulous. He’s finding his own way and I’m proud of him. I’ve always been a grafter (hard worker) and he has that." Kensit - who was married to Gallagher from 1997 until 2000 - also reveals she snubbed offers to let James, as well as her and Gallagher’s son Lennon, star alongside her on the big screen.
She adds, "When I was making films in America I was always asked if James could be in them, but the answer was no. I kept them both away from all that. The most important thing for me was to let them have their childhoods."

GAGA PUT HER BLOOD INTO MAKING PERFUME

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:20 pm

LADY GAGA donated her own blood to create her first perfume - so fans will have the chance to ‘wear’ the oddball pop star on their skin.
The Bad Romance hitmaker was inspired by sex for the fragrance, and she admits to examining semen and drops of her own blood to develop the smell.
The scent is due to hit shelves next year (12), but Gaga promises her devotees they won’t stink when they wear her perfume.
She tells Australian radio show 2DayFM, "The perfume smells like an expensive hooker! In terms of the process of creating the perfume, I wanted to extract the feeling and the sense of blood and semen from molecular structures. That’s where that came from. That is in the perfume but it doesn’t smell like it.
"You just get the after-feeling of sex from the semen and then the blood is sort of primal. It was taken out of my own blood sample, so it’s a sense of having me on your skin."

BILSON DISHES OUT DINNERWARE

Actress-turned-designer RACHEL BILSON is expanding her business empire with a line of porcelain dinnerware.
The former The O.C. star has launched her vintage-inspired range, Edie Rose Home, following the debut of her clothing line with DKNY Jeans in 2008.
And the brunette beauty hopes her tabletop collection, which includes butter dishes, teapots and place settings, will be a hit.
She tells C Magazine, "To stick with fashion, that would be a little bit more predictable. But there’s no one in my demographic, or really any ‘celebrity’ who has a similar aesthetic as me, who’s doing home or tabletop design.
"I’m sort of obsessed with dishes. I’m always cooking and baking at home, and I hate going out. I’d love to do bedding, too."

HEYDON URGES SCOTTISH OFFICIALS TO BACK LOCAL MOVIES

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:17 pm

Moviemaker ROB HEYDON has urged officials in Scotland to plough tax money into the country’s film industry to boost arts in the region.
The director was tasked with helming the movie version of Scottish writer Irvine Welsh’s book Ecstasy and planned to film it in its original setting of Edinburgh.
But Heydon was forced to decamp to his native Canada for the shoot, blaming red tape and a lack of support in the U.K. for his decision.
Now he has urged politicians in Scotland to divert tax money into the country’s film industry instead of trying to prop it up with National Lottery cash.
He tells the Daily Record, "Scotland absolutely could have a successful film industry. The Hobbit (producers) had to look at if they could shoot in New Zealand and if the government would play ball - the Kiwis stepped up to the plate and the studios were happy.
"Does that happen in the U.K.? No. There are too many bureaucrats. They need to hire a successful film producer who knows how to create a sustainable film industry.
"If Scotland focused on spending some of their tax money, not just lottery money, on a film industry, there is a multiplication effect… The Scottish parliament have to look at it. They have to see what it is going to take to get a film industry off the ground and attract foreign companies to come in and spend their money."

COLE BECAME ECO-WARRIOR AFTER CRYING OVER COTTON REPORT

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:14 pm

Model-turned-actress LILY COLE was inspired to become an environmental campaigner after she was moved to tears reading about unethical cotton farming.
The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus star was devastated after learning how thousands of children are forced to harvest cotton crops in countries such as Uzbekistan and India.
And the shocking statistics prompted the Brit to try and raise awareness of environmental issues in the fashion industry.
Cole recalls, "I’m going to sound like such a hippie, but I’d always been a city girl and, when I was 16, went on a trip to the north of Japan. There were beautiful mountains and 1,000-year-old trees. I met a mountain worshipper - a Shintoist, I think - and after speaking to him, it all made complete sense.
"Since then, the Environmental Justice Foundation has opened my eyes. Four years ago, they showed me a report on cotton farming. I had thought the problem was just sweatshops. I cried when I read it." Cole has since launched the North Circular, an ethical knitwear business which donates five per cent of profits to the Environmental Justice Foundation.
She adds, "I set (the brand) up with two friends. They run it day to day, but I’m still involved, particularly with promoting it. It’s only been going a few years, but it’s working… I like (ethical fashion) in the same way that I like to think that my soap and food are properly made. If my hat’s knitted by a lovely woman in England, that becomes quite important. It makes me feel better about it."

LENOIR DENIES DATING ROUVE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:14 pm

Troubled model NOEMIE LENOIR has cleared up reports she’s dating French actor/director JEAN-PAUL ROUVE - insisting he’s ready to take legal action over the false romance rumours.
The budding actress, who survived a suicide attempt last year (10), was linked to Rouve earlier this month (Feb11), but she is adamant their relationship is purely platonic.
Lenoir tells Britain’s Guardian Weekend magazine, "(Rouve) is a good friend of mine. We are not dating. He is going to sue. Me? I don’t care any more. I am over caring about that stuff." She goes on to tell the publication she has been dating an unnamed doctor for two months, adding: "I met him through a friend. The normal way! Not in a club. (He’s) a Jewish doctor who doesn’t care about money. It is really different for me, because I love money, because I grew up with none, and because I have been supporting myself and my family since I was 17. But my boyfriend, he doesn’t even have a big watch."

FOX BLASTS MODERN MOVIES AND 3D FILMMAKING

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:14 pm

Actor MATTHEW FOX has blasted modern Hollywood movies, insisting they are "gratuitous" and dismissing the 3D revolution as a "setback".
The Lost star has launched an extraordinary rant about the mainstream film industry in the U.S., branding romantic comedies unfunny and claiming he "hates" acting and is not in "any hurry" to progress up the career ladder.
He tells Britain’s Live magazine, "Look at 3D. That’s a major setback to good storytelling. I took my little boy to see The Last Airbender. It was an awful film. The director M. Night Shyamalan hasn’t directed a good movie since The Sixth Sense.
"I’m disillusioned with the drift towards gratuitous entertainment, which so much of Hollywood is now. Because of the state of the economy people seem to want pure escapism. But if the roles I fight to get all go to Matt Damon, then I won’t work. I turn a lot of stuff down - big, big movies, the kind I wouldn’t want to go to the cinema to see.
"…Unless they reinvent the wheel in terms of romantic comedies - in other words, they start making them funny and romantic again - I’m not going to be starring in any of these movies… A lot of the time I hate acting. It has a lot to do with the way I was brought up in a world where showing your emotions is frowned upon. It’s just not manly." And Fox may even quit acting altogether, adding: "I know some Hollywood studios see me becoming a leading man on the big budget vehicles, playing the kind of roles that Steve McQueen used to excel at. But I’m not in any hurry. I’d be just as happy sitting back and watching the seasons change. There’s a possibility I’ll give up acting and do something altogether different. Become an astronomer, maybe."

KUTCHER LOST ANISTON DATE BET

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:35 pm

ASHTON KUTCHER once asked BRAD PITT if he could take JENNIFER ANISTON out on a date in a bid to win a teenage bet - but she turned him down.
The Hollywood actor had a crush on the former Friends star when he was in high school and even saved photographs of her on his computer.
He bet a pal that he would one day wine and dine Aniston - and he couldn’t believe his luck when he finally met his dream girl after his career took off.
The star was so desperate to land a dinner date with the actress he even asked Pitt, who was married to Aniston at the time, if he would mind letting him take her out.
Kutcher explains to Britain’s Graham Norton, "So I make a bet with my buddy. I’m probably 17 years old. I said to him, ‘I bet you $1,000 that some day I will go on a date with Jennifer Aniston.’ I’m 17 years old and she’s like on my screensaver on my computer and he’s like. ‘You’re on…’ "Four or five years later I actually meet Jennifer Aniston and she’s married to Brad Pitt at the time. And so I went to Brad Pitt and I asked his permission to ask his wife out on a date. I said, ‘Listen, I made a bet with my buddy, you’re a cool guy, you’re gonna let this go down, right?’ And he looked at me, he’s like, ‘You go for it.’ And I’m like, ‘You’re the coolest guy I’ve ever met in my life!’ So I asked her and she turned me down… But now we’re friends."

MINOGUE READY FOR VEGAS RESIDENCY

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:35 pm

KYLIE MINOGUE is one step closer to a residency in Las Vegas, insisting her latest arena concert would "definitely" translate to a Sin City stage spectacular.
The Australian singer was in Denmark on Sunday (20Feb11) to launch her Aphrodite: Les Folies Tour, which features winged horses, acrobats, synchronised swimming and water streams shooting into the crowd’s "splash zone".
Minogue was thrilled with the first date on her trek - and she’s convinced the Greek mythology-themed show would be perfect for a Vegas stint.
She says, "I’ve got my Las Vegas show right here. We’ve been talking about it so if I do a residency I definitely have the show for it. It’s crazy. I definitely can’t top this one.
"I’m so pleased with it. I didn’t have anybody backstage shouting in my earpiece to say, ‘This isn’t working,’ or, ‘Scrap this section’.
"A lot has been made of the splash zone but there’s a lot more to the show than just water. It’s important to have moments when the music takes over."
