STEFANI: ‘NO NEW ALBUM FOR A WHILE’

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:33 pm

GWEN STEFANI has warned fans of NO DOUBT not to expect a new album for "a while" - because most of her bandmembers are busy with new babies.
The group released its last studio album, Rock Steady, in 2001, and despite spending much of 2010 working on new tracks, the blonde beauty admits they aren’t nearing a finished project because of their other commitments.
Stefani is busy with her fashion line L.A.M.B. and guitarist Tom Dumont and bassist Tony Kanal have both recently fathered a child.
She tells the Wall Street Journal, "We’ve been doing a record all year; 10 songs have been recorded. When this (new fashion line) is done I’ll probably write a few more songs. I don’t know when it’ll come out, but you never know what can happen.
"My band takes a weird process as well. It takes so long. And all of them just had babies, so it’ll be a while."

MINOGUE RILED BY GAGA COMPARISONS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:32 pm

KYLIE MINOGUE gets annoyed when she is accused of ripping off LADY GAGA’s outrageous costume ideas - insisting she and the POKER FACE star are "totally different".
The Australian singer is known for her designer stage outfits and lavish productions, but she is adamant she has never looked to Gaga for inspiration.
Asked if it riles her when she’s accused of copying Gaga, Minogue tells Britain’s Grazia magazine, "Of course it does. I think she’s amazing, but she’s a totally different artist to me.
"Back in the day, I was accused of copying Madonna - but my approach is very different (to hers). If I wear something very sexy, it’s usually slightly tongue in cheek. We all have our own thing and mine seems to be hot pants… I couldn’t (ditch hot pants) even if I tried, because they are always put in the designs."

MOSS QUICK TO AGREE TO FERRY ALBUM ARTWORK

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:32 pm

BRYAN FERRY had no problem convincing KATE MOSS to pose for the cover of his latest album - the supermodel "always wanted" to be on the front of one of his records.
The Roxy Music star released Olympia last year (10) and the British beauty is seen posing seductively in a recreated shot of artist Edouard Manet’s famous Olympia pose for the artwork.
Ferry reveals Moss was keen to feature on the album cover - and he was quick to sign her up to the project.
He says, "I wanted somebody with a bit of resonance because the original Olympia painting by Manet had a kind of scandal at the time in the mid-19th century - it was a very strong and sexual picture. (Kate’s) got a kind of history, a rock ‘n’ roll personality, she’s a bit of a dangerous woman, a femme fatale.
"She really got into it. She said ‘I’ve always wanted to be a Roxy cover girl’."

GELDOF REMAINS FRIENDS WITH ROTH AFTER SPLIT

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:29 pm

PEACHES GELDOF enjoys a good relationship with her ex-boyfriend ELI ROTH after their split last year (10), praising the filmmaker as "such a good person".
The British socialite broke up with the Inglourious Basterds star in November (10), but admits she didn’t feel pressure to leave Los Angeles to "escape" the moviemaker - because they’re still friends.
She tells Britain’s Heat magazine, "I don’t feel like I have to escape Eli. I think he’s such a good person. I always feel like if you choose to be with someone for a significant amount of time, you really at one point think that’s the best person in the whole world. And if you feel that with someone, unless they kill someone or something like that, why should that ever be torn apart from you when at that moment they were your whole world?" Geldof has even remained in contact with her ex-husband Max Drummey, who she was married to for seven months before they divorced in 2009.
She adds: "I actually spoke to him (Drummey) on the phone the other day. He lives really near me in L.A. He’s such a good person as well, so that definitely was not an area where there was any drama."

SIMON’S STRUGGLE WITH SELF-DOUBT

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:29 pm

PAUL SIMON is stunned by his lasting career - because the veteran singer is plagued with "self-doubt" every time he writes a song.
Simon, who began composing with Art Garfunkel when they were just teenagers, is still recording and releasing new material as he approaches his 70th birthday this year (13Oct11).
But the You Can Call Me Al hitmaker admits he still struggles with insecurity and fears one day he will no longer be inspired to create new music.
He tells Britain’s Uncut magazine, "There’s no guarantee you’ll ever have an idea for a new song. I never assume that it’s going to continue indefinitely. In fact, I’m kind of amazed that it has gone on for so long. I was 13 or 14 when I started to write songs. For whatever reasons, though, I have this self-doubt.
"I think (poet) Philip Larkin probably poisoned my mind. I really like his poetry, but I don’t want to read it too much because it takes me to a dark place. But he stopped writing and people asked him why and he just said, ‘The muse deserted me.’ "So I’ve never presumed that I will always be able to write, that there’ll always be things I want to write about, unless you just repeat yourself. Some people like to do the same thing every time. I don’t, simple as that."

POLNAREFF HEARTBROKEN BABY IS NOT HIS SON

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:26 pm

French singer MICHEL POLNAREFF is devastated after learning the baby he welcomed with his partner last year (10) is not his.

In a post on his official page, he writes, "It is with immense sadness that I must announce that the baby is not mine. Faced with my insistence on a DNA test, Danyellah told me the truth which the test confirmed.
"I’m sorry that we have to share this enormous heartache and this terrible disappointment." The pop star later posted another message revealing his 27 year old partner had "disappeared with the baby", adding: "I have no right to him, other than the right to deal with such a lie after nine years of living together."

BRAND: ‘SHAKESPEARE SHOULD BE MADE EXCITING AT SCHOOL’

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:26 pm

Funnyman RUSSELL BRAND is convinced students would enjoy reading Shakespeare at school - if only teachers highlighted the "sex and violence" in the classic plays.
The comedian-turned-actor plays jester Trinculo in filmmaker Julie Taymor’s upcoming big screen adaptation of Shakespeare’s The Tempest.
Brand relished reciting his difficult lines for the film, but admits he struggled to understand the Bard’s work as a teen - and wishes his tutors had emphasised Shakespeare’s risque and exciting themes.
He tells U.K. TV show Daybreak, "In British schools, they sort of thrust it upon you. I had some good teachers in my school, I don’t want to bring my school down, but (when) Shakespeare is presented to you, it just seems dense.
"(It could be enjoyable) if they said to you, ‘This about sex and violence and in the times that it was on, it was a very bawdy form of entertainment! You could go to a public execution or see a Shakespeare play!’ It’s not meant to be read, it’s meant to be performed." And Brand hopes Taymor’s take on the drama will get audiences excited for Shakespeare again.
He adds, "Julie’s done such a great job of making it visceral and impactful (sic), making the funny bits funny and the dramatic bits intense.
There’s really good-looking kids in it, Reeve Carney, for example, the young lad in it. He’s gorgeous, and the girl he’s opposite, Felicity (Jones) - they have the qualities that the Twilight stars have. And you’ve got the gravitas of Dame Helen (Mirren). She’s so cool. I’m infatuated with her - to a healthy degree."

AGRON LOSES VOICE DURING MOVIE PROMOTION

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:21 pm

DIANNA AGRON struggled to sing during a recent recording session for GLEE - because the constant promotion for new movie I AM NUMBER FOUR has damaged her voice.
The blonde beauty has been busy with interviews and premieres to raise the profile of the new sci-fi thriller, which debuted at number two on the U.S. box office chart over the weekend (19-20Feb11), with takings of almost $20 million (£13 million).
But her constant talks about the movie have left her battling a sore throat - which is proving problematic for recording her scenes as school cheerleader Quinn in new installments of the all-singing, all-dancing show.
She tells Interview magazine, "This past month… We’ve been filming during the week and then doing quite a few junkets on the weekends for I Am Number Four. It really just happened (losing my voice), two weeks ago was the first time.
"Now, the mentality is to rest your voice at any opportune moment. I went to the recording studio and I’ve never had this - I couldn’t sing. It sounded completely unnatural, like I had a frog in my throat. And I kept saying, ‘I’m just so sorry, I’m just so sorry.’ It just keeps coming and going.
"There’s been a couple of scenes where I can’t even… Quinn’s voice is higher, and it’s got this pitch to it. You’re going to be able to tell. I just couldn’t do it… It will come back one of these days."

APPLEGATE OVERCAME FEAR OF BREAST EXPOSURE AFTER BIRTH

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:20 pm

Cancer survivor CHRISTINA APPLEGATE overcame her hatred of exposing her breasts following the birth of her daughter SADIE - she "tore" off her medical gown in the hospital so she could feel closer to her newborn baby.
The star and her fiance, musician Martyn LeNoble, became first-time parents to little Sadie Grace last month (Jan11).
Applegate admits she doesn’t "have a good relationship" with her chest after undergoing a double mastectomy to treat breast cancer in 2008 - but she battled her fears while she was in hospital.
Speaking to U.S. talk show host Ellen DeGeneres about the birth, she explains, "Just that moment, pulling her out and I dropped my gown which I don’t do. This part of my body (my chest) is very private to me… that’s a real private place. A place that I don’t have a good relationship with, let’s say.
"But at that moment of pulling her out and I just tore that thing (gown) off. There’s a room full of people that I don’t know. Nurses and doctors. And she and I just lay there. It was the best thing that’s ever happened to me."

RITCHIE TRIUMPHS IN SQUATTERS BATTLE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:20 pm

Director GUY RITCHIE has triumphed in his battle to evict squatters from his $9 million (£6 million) London house after a judge ordered them to leave the property.
The Sherlock Holmes moviemaker bought his home in the British capital’s posh Fitzrovia area last May (10) and hired a construction company to renovate the building.
However a group of squatters, part of the Really Free School, took advantage of the U.K.’s squatters’ rights laws and moved into the building earlier this month (Feb11). In Britain, a person can claim a right to stay in an empty property as long as they don’t break and enter.
Ritchie instructed his legal team to take action against the squatters, and on Friday (18Feb11) a judge ruled the director could take back the property and resume his construction work.
Judge Marc Dight said, "It seems to me that the defendants, despite their valiant attempts, are unable to support a procedural or a substantive claim. The claimant has made me aware that the building is being renovated and having asbestos removed. The obvious fallout from the occupation is that the renovation has been unable to go ahead.
"I’m told the floorboards are unsafe, with holes in the floor, and there is no water, no heating, no lavatory and limited electricity. There is no access to outside and I am led to believe there are no sanitary facilities whatsoever, presenting severe health risks to the occupiers."

WEST ACCUSED OF COPYING FRENCH FILM IN NEW VIDEO

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:35 pm

Rapper KANYE WEST has been accused of ripping off French film ENTER THE VOID for the video to his new track ALL OF THE LIGHTS.
The Stronger hitmaker debuted the promo over the weekend (19-20Feb11) and the clip shows collaboration partner Rihanna posing seductively, with West singing as he perches on top of a police car.
But the star has been hit by claims he ripped off themes from 2010 thriller Enter the Void in the video, which was directed by Hype Williams.
In a post on TheStir blog, critic Linda Sharps writes, "Either it’s a deliberate homage to the film, or… well, maybe nobody thought Kanye’s fans would know anything about relatively obscure French melodramas. Hard to say." A fan on PopDash.com adds, "It comes across as lazy and sly and is a real shame for a director known for his own unique and distinctive style."

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:35 pm

CHARLIE SHEEN is calling for CORBIN BERNSEN to be included in a MAJOR LEAGUE sequel - after reports emerged suggesting his co-star has been left out of plans for a fourth installment.
Movie executives are revamping Sheen’s hit baseball film franchise but Bernsen - who played Roger Dorn in the first three movies - has not yet been invited to rejoin the original cast.
Bernsen’s publicist says, "Corbin would love to do another Major League but it doesn’t look like he’s been written into the movie at this point. We’re hopeful he gets written in by the time it’s finalised though." Sheen admits he’s eager to reprise his Ricky ‘Wild Thing’ Vaughn character if the film gets the green light - and he’s vowed to try to get his pal onboard too.
He tells TMZ.com, "I would love it for him to be in… but I ain’t the writer or director… I’m a hired gun… I’ll do my best (to get Bernsen involved)."

RUDIN THANKS BOND BOSSES FOR CRAIG ROLE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:35 pm

Moviemaker SCOTT RUDIN has thanked bosses of the Bond franchise and praised them as "fantastic" for allowing DANIEL CRAIG to star in THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO while shooting his next turn as 007.
Rudin and director David Fincher were keen to secure the British hunk for the role of journalist Mikael Blomkvist in the upcoming drama but feared it would clash with his "day job" in the spy franchise.
But Bond producers were more than happy to allow their leading man to moonlight for Rudin - and he’s paid tribute to their accommodating ways.
Rudin tells Total Film magazine, "It’s complicated by Bond dates. There is a schedule for it that works with the Bond schedule. Obviously… Daniel has a day job! So when we took it on with him, we knew we would have to be navigating with them.
"But the Bond people have been very cooperative about making sure they didn’t cost him this opportunity. And they’ve been completely fantastic and generous. And I think also huge credit to Daniel for being willing to take on two series."
