THURMAN STALKER WANTS PLEA DEAL

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:17 pm

A man convicted of stalking UMA THURMAN wants to work out a plea deal with prosecutors over new charges after a New York judge refused to throw out the case.
Jack Jordan, who was previously punished for stalking the Kill Bill actress in 2008, is facing fresh allegations he violated a restraining order by calling Thurman’s cell and Manhattan office phone in October (10). He has pleaded not guilty to two counts of criminal contempt.
His lawyer Sam Roberts filed a motion in Manhattan State Supreme Court asking Justice Gregory Carro to either dismiss the case or reduce the charges, but the request was denied on Wednesday (23Feb11).
Justice Carro ruled there was enough evidence to support the new accusations against 39-year-old Jordan, stating he "finds no basis for dismissal".
During the court hearing, Roberts revealed he was in discussions with prosecutors about a plea deal for his client, although an agreement had yet to be reached.
Jordan, who is being held on $500,000 (£333,330) bond, faces up to four years behind bars if convicted.
He is due back in court on 30 March (11).

TOP CELEBRITY PSYCHOLOGIST URGES CYRUSES TO SEEK PROFESSIONAL HELP

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:14 pm

A top Hollywood child and family psychotherapist has urged BILLY RAY CYRUS to take his issues with his teenage daughter MILEY to a trained expert, rather than air his thoughts in public.
Dr. Fran Walfish, the author of The Self-Aware Parent, warns the Achy Breaky Heart singer he’s doing more harm than good by venting his feelings about his daughter’s occasional wildchild antics in magazine interviews - and he should try to get the family together for a private session with an expert.
In a new People magazine article, Cyrus stated, "It is very important to me to work on mending my family right now. My family is the most important thing I have, and we are working together to make sure our future is stronger and healthier." This came after he blamed hit Disney show Hannah Montana, in which he starred with his daughter, for "destroying" his family in a GQ interview.
Dr. Fran tells WENN Billy Ray, who filed for divorce from his wife Tish in October (10), owes it to Miley and his family to get them together in a room with a psychologist.
She says, "If psychotherapy is not received, there could be family communication breakdowns and Miley and her siblings could take a side and polarise the family even more. The danger here is further estrangement of family members.
"There’s also the possibility that drugs and alcohol could play a part if the children are not helped to deal directly with uncomfortable feelings.
"I don’t know why Billy Ray Cyrus is using the media as a platform. Perhaps he is knee-jerk reacting to his high level of anxiety. These issues belong in an experienced family psychotherapy office. They are very private. It makes me wonder if Billy Ray could use a little honing on his own personal boundaries, as well." And Dr. Fran urges other parents who are chasing the dream of fame and fortune for their kids to use the Cyrus case as a cautionary tale: "My warning to families with young kids embarking into showbiz is avoid allowing it for as long as possible. The older and more mature your child is, the better the chances your child will not compromise his or her own values. Stay grounded by consulting a family psychotherapist to keep communication lines wide open. Don’t wait until there’s a problem."

The set that GEOFFREY RUSH used as his office in Oscar favourite THE KING’S SPEECH was once used as the location for a gay porn film.
Images from both Snookered and The King’s Speech have been posted on website QueerClick.com - and it appears the backgrounds in the films are identical.
It seems that in the same room where King George VI (Colin Firth) and his voice teacher Lionel Logue (played by Rush) practised speech therapy, two men once performed hardcore gay sex acts around a snooker table.
Both films were shot at a Portland Place address in London, according to CinemaBlend.com.

"I’m one of four people outside of Great Britain, in the world, that has gotten it this year.
"I was told that I would never achieve. The Queen wrote me." But Winkler won’t be jetting off to Buckingham Palace to claim his trophy: "Being an American, I cannot pledge my allegiance to the Queen, so I cannot get it (medal) from her, which is a little disappointing because I was going to take one of her hats."

WILSON SENT TO HOSPITAL AFTER SURFING ACCIDENT

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:23 pm

New dad OWEN WILSON needed 24 stitches to his head after a recent surfing accident.
The Wedding Crashers star hit the waves near his home in Hawaii, and ended up in a nearby hospital after slashing open his forehead.
He explains, "This was a few weeks ago. I took on a wave that was probably too big for me. I went off the back and the board kinda caught me and came back and hit me in the forehead and I got 24 stitches." Wilson was dripping blood as he paddled back to the shore and admits he was a little fearful of an encounter with a shark - because his accident happened in the same place where his older brother Andrew was "attacked" last year (10).
He says, "Believe me, I was thinking about the (shark) as I was paddling back in with a little blood dripping in to the same cove where my brother was attacked recently! And I had to go to the same doctor who stitched Andrew up, so this guy just thinks we’re lunatics." Wilson reveals Andrew has since recovered from the shark bite and is now boasting about surviving the incident.
The actor adds, "My brother… was out of the water for a while, and he went through this whole progression of being kinda scared and not going back in the water, to going back, and then kinda proud.
"He’s like, ‘Not many people can say they got a business card from the man in the grey suit and live to talk about it!’ That’s what he’s calling the shark now! So now he’s kinda proud of it. First he was bit, now he (says he) was attacked!"

STING BRANDS GADDAFI’S STAND ‘APPALLING’

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:20 pm

STING has slammed Libyan leader MUAMMAR GADDAFI for "desperately" clinging to power - branding the dictator’s refusal to step down in the face of overwhelming unrest "appalling".
Colonel Gaddafi has vowed to "fight to the death" amid the uprising sweeping the African nation, insisting he’s willing to "die as a martyr" rather than relinquish power.
And to prove he means business, the Libyan leader unleashed warplanes on anti-Gaddafi protesters on Tuesday (22Feb11).
In an address to the nation at the beginning of the week (beg21Feb11), the 68 year old fired up revolutionaries by stating, "Damn those who try to stir unrest." He has blamed the week-long revolt on "mercenaries" and foreign influences.
Rock star and humanitarian Sting has been watching developments in Libya with interest, and he believes Gaddafi should follow the example set by Egypt’s former leader Hosni Mubarek, who stepped down earlier this month (Feb11) after a series of protests.
Arriving in Lima, Peru ahead of a concert, the former Police frontman says, "What’s happening in Libya is appalling. It’s really about a man desperately trying to hold onto power when he has no business holding onto power. I hope it stops soon." But Sting has put a positive spin on the protests in the Middle East, insisting they help to show the world that the stereotype of simple Arabs is wrong.
He adds, "I’m very intrigued by what’s going on in the Middle East at the moment. I think one of the most useful things about the events is that I think in the west we have looked upon Arab culture as being monolithic and very simple, and what has come out of this conflict is how complex their society is.
"It’s just as complex as ours, and therefore, those stereotypes have been counterproductive, so we need to treat the Arab world in the same way we treat each other."

CLOONEY: ‘SEX AND DRUG PAST WILL HINDER ANY POLITICAL CAREER’

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:20 pm

Hollywood star GEORGE CLOONEY is convinced he’d never make it as a successful politician - because he has too wild a past to win over voters.
The Ocean’s Eleven actor has become a leading celebrity advocate for an array of international issues in recent years, including drawing attention to the plight of Sudanese refugees desperate for an end to decades of civil war.
Clooney’s continued interests away from Hollywood have sparked speculation he will one day quit movies for U.S. politics - but the 49 year old is adamant his past personal antics will cause problems for any campaign organisers.
He tells Newsweek magazine, "I didn’t live my life in the right way for politics, you know. I f**ked too many chicks and did too many drugs, and that’s the truth." The actor insists a life in politics is not on his mind just now, although he’d come clean about everything if he ever did decide to run for office.
He says, "(I’d) start from the beginning by saying, ‘I did it all. I drank the bong water. Now let’s talk about issues.’ That’s gonna be my campaign slogan: ‘I drank the bong water.’"

LOHAN WARNED ANY PLEA DEAL WILL RESULT IN JAIL

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:17 pm

LINDSAY LOHAN is preparing to go to trial over a felony theft charge after a Los Angeles judge warned the actress she will serve jail time if she chooses to accept a plea deal.
The embattled star has pleaded not guilty to accusations she stole a necklace from the Kamofie & Company jewellery store in Venice, California last month (Jan11), and maintains the item was loaned to her.
Her lawyer, Shawn Holley, previously expressed interest in settling the case with prosecutors if they agreed not fight for a prison term, but Superior Court Judge Keith L. Schwartz shot down the possibility on Wednesday (23Feb11).
He warned the Mean Girls actress that pleading guilty or no contest to the charge will be an automatic admission of probation violation on an existing DUI charge - and that will send her to jail.
Judge Schwartz said, "This case does involve jail time period. If you plead in front of me, you are going to jail. Period…
"I don’t care that you’re Lindsay Lohan… You will be treated just like anyone else." During the hearing, it was revealed Deputy District Attorney Danette Meyers had already made a formal offer for a plea deal, which is believed to involve six months behind bars.
But, according to TMZ.com, Lohan wants to fight to clear her name and is ready to stand trial. If convicted, she faces up to a year in state prison.
She has until her next court hearing on 10 March (11) to decide whether or not to accept a plea.
Lohan is currently free on bail after her probation for a 2007 misdemeanour DUI conviction was revoked earlier this month (Feb11).

PICKLER DITCHED BIG WEDDING BECAUSE SHE ‘HATED’ GUESTS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:17 pm

Newlywed country singer KELLIE PICKLER decided to elope and ditch her big wedding plans at the last minute after realising she couldn’t stand half of the people on her guest list.
The former American Idol star secretly exchanged vows with her songwriter beau Kyle Jacobs on 1 January (11) in Antigua.
And Pickler admits it was the thought of sharing her special day with so many people she despised that sent her running off to the Caribbean.
She tells U.S. talk show host Ellen DeGeneres, "We were almost finished with the wedding planning. And every time we got to the guest list, it was like, ‘Oh my God, I hate half these people.’ Nothing personal." But the singer insists she has no regrets: "I packed the wedding dress and packed him (Jacobs) an outfit. We totally just put faith in God that it was all going to work out, and it did, and it was the most incredible day of my life." The couple began dating in 2008.

SIMON SELF-FINANCED LATEST ALBUM

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:17 pm

PAUL SIMON was driven to quit his label to record his latest album independently after growing fed up with executives pressuring him to write hits.
The folk rocker made So Beautiful Or So What in his studio at home and financed the project with his own money after severing ties with Warner Bros.
And Simon is glad he made the decision to leave - because now he doesn’t feel expected to produce a string of number ones.
He tells Britain’s Uncut magazine, "I really wanted to get off Warner Bros. I didn’t think they understood what I was doing on the last couple of albums. They just wanted me to make hit singles, which is not really possible for me. It would be a fluke if I had a hit single. I don’t make that kind of music anymore.
"It had become very frustrating. Whether or not you achieve what you set out to achieve, when you put years of work into something and it’s released and it sinks beneath the waves, it’s frustrating. But you know, somebody hears it, gets what you’ve done. It’s never entirely lost. It just doesn’t sell millions."
