Newsman LARRY KING has signed up to coach his son’s Little League baseball team - but fears he hasn’t got the right temperament for the game.
The 77 year old quit his nightly CNN show last year (10) to spend more time with his family; he was replaced by Brit Piers Morgan.
King returned to his old time slot in America on Wednesday night (23Feb11) to face Morgan for the first time as a guest and told the new host that he had to dash off to coach his kid’s team.
The TV veteran revealed he has twice been kicked out of the game for arguing with umpires.
He said, "My wife Shawn, who I love… supported the umpire… The ump told me to go back to CNN.
"I had to sit in the car, outside the field and get reports on the phone. Ridiculous."

STUTTER EXPERTS SALUTE FIRTH, CHEER HIM ON TOWARDS OSCARS GLORY

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:08 pm

America’s leading experts on the causes and cures for stutterers have saluted COLIN FIRTH for his portrayal of stammering royal GEORGE VI in THE KING’S SPEECH - because they insist the actor has really helped shine a light on speech impediments.
Firth is a clear favourite to claim Oscars gold on Sunday (27Feb11) for his portrayal of the king in the film - and officials at the American Institute for Stuttering feel the honour will be well deserved.
Director Chamonix Sikora tells WENN, "The King’s Speech is a magnificent film, and it has had an enormous and important impact on our cause because it shows that anyone can have a stuttering disorder - even a king.
"We congratulate Colin for his Golden Globe and Screen Actors Guild awards, and we wish him the best of luck at the Oscars." Sikora claims more than three million Americans and 60 million people worldwide suffer from stuttering-related impediments.
She adds, "Stuttering is extremely complex and often misunderstood, but help is available for anyone at any age. Whether it’s early intervention for a young child or equipping someone to tackle a stressful job interview, we’ve been fortunate to help people gain lasting freedom from the disability of stuttering. It’s a life-changing experience, both for the client and the clinician."

CAMERON DOUGLAS’ ALLEGED DRUG SUPPLIER REJECTS PLEA DEAL

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:26 pm

A man accused of supplying MICHAEL DOUGLAS’ jailed son with drugs has been ordered to undergo a mental health evaluation after rejecting a plea deal.
Cameron Douglas is serving a five year sentence in New York after admitting to charges of methamphetamine possession with intent to distribute, and one count of cocaine possession, stemming from his arrest in 2009.
The incarcerated actor’s alleged suppliers, illegal Mexican immigrants David and Eduardo Escalera, both face life in prison for reportedly providing "large amounts" of methamphetamine to Douglas and others.
The brothers have been offered plea deals, with prosecutors agreeing to drop the drug charges against them if they pleaded guilty to illegal re-entry into the U.S., which carries a recommended sentence of between 35 and 51 months.
But Eduardo has turned down the offer, prompting Manhattan federal Judge Richard Berman to demand he seek professional mental help during a court hearing on Wednesday (23Feb11).
Eduardo’s lawyer James Cohen told the court his client is "in denial", according to the New York Post.
If the Escaleras take the plea deal, it would mean 32-year-old Cameron Douglas would not be required to testify against his alleged dealers, coming face-to-face with the men for the first time since he agreed to co-operate with prosecutors.

MICHAEL JACKSON’s three children are continuing their late father’s philanthropic legacy - they visited struggling families at a homeless help organisation on Wednesday (23Feb11).
The King of Pop devoted much of his time and money to charities across the world, and founded the Heal the World Foundation in 1992, providing funds to benefit a variety of causes, including drug and alcohol abuse education and disadvantaged children.
Now the superstar’s kids Prince Michael, 14, Paris, 12, and eight-year-old Blanket have picked up their dad’s work for the needy, paying a visit to a Los Angeles-based charity which helps homeless families, according to U.S. breakfast show Good Morning America.
Reporter Robin Roberts was granted special access to interview the singer’s children and their grandmother Katherine Jackson for a GMA special, which will air on Friday (25Feb11).

LOPEZ SUFFERS AMERICAN IDOL BREAKDOWN

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:23 pm

JENNIFER LOPEZ broke down in tears during a recent taped episode of AMERICAN IDOL after she was forced to send home one contestant who had moved judges and viewers with his emotional story of heartache.
The Hollywood star, who serves on the reality competition’s new judging panel alongside Steven Tyler and Randy Jackson, was shown fighting back tears as she told singer Chris Medina he would not be progressing to the next round.
Medina had captured the hearts of American Idol fans with his back story in earlier episodes of the show, revealing he was supporting his wheelchair-bound fiancee, Juliana, after she was seriously injured in a car accident - and left brain damaged - months before the couple was due to wed. Lopez, Tyler and Jackson even met Juliana during the singer’s first audition.
But his efforts failed to land him a place in the talent show’s final 24, and it was left to Lopez to break the news to him, during an episode which aired in the U.S. on Wednesday night (23Feb11).
She told Medina, "It honestly breaks my heart to say this, but you’re not making it to the last 24." Lopez struggled to keep her emotions under control after he exited the room and was captured on camera crying as Tyler and Jackson tried to comfort her.
However, Medina’s appearance on American Idol was not completely in vein - generous viewers have donated a handicapped van to the couple, in addition to $29,000 (£19,330) in cash.
Lopez has since defended her teary TV breakdown, explaining it was "really hard" to send one of her favourite wannabes home.
Speaking on Idol host Ryan Seacrest’s Los Angeles radio show on Thursday morning (24Feb11), Lopez insisted it wasn’t like her to lose control of her emotions.
She explained, "It really hit me… I just couldn’t believe that I had to deliver this news to this person who I felt had been through a lot and was going through a lot. And I felt I didn’t do it well enough.
"He (Medina) handled it with so much dignity and class and that made it worse for me.
"I’m very in control of my emotions… I’ve had to be over the years. But that was a moment I didn’t expect to be on camera, in the show… It was really hard."

The Hollywood actress has revealed she fears for her life after police found Bradly Gooden inside her house on 11 February (11).
According to documents obtained by TMZ.com, Gooden told officers he was the son of former U.S. First Lady Hillary Clinton and had travelled to California from Ohio because he is convinced the politician bought the house from Stone as a gift to him.
He allegedly told cops, "It’s now my house… I live here." Gooden was taken into custody and placed on psychiatric hold, but he was released earlier this week (begs21Feb11) and police believe he is "undeterred from returning to the property".
Stone filed a request for a restraining order in Los Angeles Superior Court and, on Thursday (24Feb11), she was granted a temporary ban against Gooden, who she has described as an "obsessed, mentally unstable, delusional person", on Thursday (24Feb11).
In her filing, the actress stated: "I am in fear from Mr. Gooden for my personal safety, and that of those around me, including especially my children and family, as well as my friends and employees."

JORDISON PROMISES ‘EXORCISM’ AT SLIPKNOT SHOWS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:21 pm

SLIPKNOT drummer JOEY JORDISON has promised fans an unforgettable set when they perform their comeback shows at the Sonisphere festivals in Europe this summer (11) - the concerts will be an "exorcism" in honour of late bass player PAUL GRAY.
The rockers have not performed since Gray died from an overdose in an Iowa hotel room last May (10), and only now are they preparing to start rehearsals for a series of gigs at the travelling festival in June and July.
Jordison, who was pals with Gray from childhood, admits it will be tough walking out on stage without his bandmate - but he has vowed to honour Gray with "the most emotional Slipknot shows of all time".
He tells Kerrang! magazine, "(These shows) will be the ultimate triumph… I have f**king p**s and venom in my f**king veins right now. I’m already just thinking about… when we step onto that f**king stage, the eight of us… I don’t even know if we’re gonna make it through one song. We might destroy everything.
"It’s going to be bizarre. I think, honestly, Paul’s with us in spirit… It’s going to be a really, really explosive show. It’s gonna be good for all of us… I think Sonisphere is going to be an exorcism.
"I think the best thing is to put Paul finally to rest, he wants to see us f**king rock. Once we do that, we’ll be at peace and everything can continue from there."

MINNELLI FULL OF PRAISE FOR ‘PHENOMENAL’ GAGA

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:21 pm

LIZA MINNELLI is eager to team up with LADY GAGA in the studio after she was blown away by the pop superstar’s "phenomenal" performance in New York on Tuesday (22Feb11).
Gaga personally invited the Cabaret star to her Madison Square Garden gig - and then insisted on a face-to-face meeting backstage before the show.
The 64 year old even received a special shout out from Gaga during her set - the Poker Face singer told fans she would never lip-sync, "not with Liza watching".
And now Minnelli is a big fan: "She was wonderful. She asked me to come backstage before the show, which I thought was phenomenal. Well I wobbled back on my new knee, but she was wonderful and she told me that I was her idol and I felt like saying, ‘You’re kidding!’ "But also she’s outrageous, she’s very sexy and she can sing. There’s no kidding around. There’s a section that she does just at the piano and that voice is right on. It’s at pitch, it’s strong." And Minnelli admits she would jump at the chance to work with Gaga after recording with more modern acts like the Pet Shop Boys and My Chemical Romance.

JAILED REMY MA LOSES LATEST APPEAL

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:18 pm

Rapper REMY MA will have to serve out her prison sentence for her 2008 murder conviction after authorities at New York’s highest court rejected her latest appeal on Thursday (24Feb11).
The Lean Back star, real name Reminisce Smith, was jailed for eight years in May 2008 after she was found guilty of shooting Makeda Barnes-Joseph in the abdomen during an altercation in July 2007.
Remy Ma, who was charged with assault, weapons possession and attempted coercion, maintained her innocence throughout the trial and immediately appealed the conviction.
Her first attempt fell through in 2009. She launched a second one last year (10).
But the rapper’s bid for freedom has been dealt a big blow - officials at the Court of Appeals threw out her claims that the presiding judge failed to properly inform jurors before they delivered a guilty verdict.
The ruling means Remy Ma will remain behind bars at New York’s notorious Riker’s Island prison, where fellow rapper Lil Wayne spent time last year (10).

HOSPITALISED TAYLOR IN ‘GOOD SPIRITS’

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:17 pm

DAME ELIZABETH TAYLOR is continuing to make promising progress as she recovers in hospital from a heart condition, with her representative insisting the veteran actress is in "good spirits".
The Cleopatra star was admitted to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles to treat symptoms of congestive heart failure earlier this month (Feb11) and tabloid reports have suggested she’s close to death.
But Taylor’s spokesperson, Sally Morrison, insists doctors are "encouraged" by her progress.
Morrison has announced the actress will remain under doctors’ care "for a while" because of her history of health issues. The 78 year old has had ongoing problems with her heart, even undergoing surgery in 2009.
But the rep has moved to dismiss any speculation Taylor is being kept in hospital because she has suffered a heart attack or stroke - and denied she has undergone any kind of heart surgery.
The publicist says, "Elizabeth Taylor’s doctors continue to be encouraged by her progress… She is in good spirits and continues to feel stronger every day."

PATTINSON’S CLOSET PACKED TO THE BRIM

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:29 pm

TWILIGHT hunk ROBERT PATTINSON has a shameful secret - he can’t stop hoarding clothes.
The British actor has accumulated stacks of clothing he never wears but he refuses to donate the unworn garments to pals, preferring to rent out storage spaces to house his outfits.
He tells the Daily Record, "I’m a hoarder. I gave away all my furniture from (when I lived in) Baton Rouge but with books and things, I have storage spaces all over the world.
"It’s ridiculous. Clothes - I cannot give away clothes. I don’t know why. I wear the same thing every day and I just have piles and piles and piles of clothes and then every two years, I’ll go to the storage space and kind of see what I can give away.
"I give away like three things, search through everything and then pack it all back up and put it in the storage space."

STONE’S BASIC INSTINCT FLASH IS MOST PAUSED SCENE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:27 pm

SHARON STONE’s provocative leg-crossing scene in BASIC INSTINCT has topped a new poll to find the most paused movie moments.
The actress reveals she isn’t wearing any underwear beneath her short skirt as she uncrosses her legs while being interrogated by cops in the 1992 thriller - a scene which was frozen by more than a third of fans in a poll by Lovefilm.com.
The X-rated moment put Stone ahead of runner-up Jennifer Lopez, who bared her butt in 2010 comedy The Back-Up Plan, while third place went to a blooper in 1977 hit Star Wars, when a Stormtrooper hits his head on a ceiling.
Jamie Lee Curtis’ topless shot in Trading Places came fourth while a scene in which Jessica Rabbit’s dress rises up in Who Framed Roger Rabbit rounded out the top five.
