LAWRENCE ALMOST MISSED OUT ON MARS COLLABORATIONS
BRUNO MARS’ songwriting partner PHILIP LAWRENCE ended up broke travelling to meet the star - but he’s convinced it’s "the best two dollars" he’s ever spent.
Mars, Lawrence, and fellow songwriter Ari Levine have penned and produced tracks for artists including Justin Bieber, Flo Rida and Cee Lo Green.
But Lawrence almost missed out on the opportunity - because he was so poor he could scarcely afford the bus fare to meet Mars.
He tells Britain’s The Sun, "I literally only had two dollars left in my pocket when I was going to meet Bruno for our first session.
"I had to get two buses and it cost me the last money I had. It turned out to be the best two dollars I’ve ever spent."
