SHEEN CHALLENGES TV WRITER IN HARD-HITTING INTERVIEW

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:23 pm

Troubled CHARLIE SHEEN used a U.S. TV interview recorded over the weekend (26-27Feb11) to challenge the creator of his suspended show TWO AND A HALF MEN as their war of words turned really nasty.
In the Today Show interview, which aired in America on Monday (28Feb11), the actor was asked what he’d like to say to writer Chuck Lorre, who has been battling Sheen publicly for weeks.
Sheen promptly produced a series of question cards, stating, "It’s funny you’d ask; I have the questions right here." He went on to reel off questions directly into the camera, asking Lorre why he had cancelled the remainder of the sitcom series in the wake of Sheen’s rehab and health woes.
He accused Lorre of laziness, suggesting the writer had used Sheen’s problems to shut down the show - because he had no new episodes written.
The actor’s most pertinent question: "When you were told that the crew would suffer gravely as a result of your dictatorial laziness would you please explain what you meant by your statement, ‘They are not my problem’.
"I’m sure there’s, like, 120-something people that would love to hear the answer to that."

TOP HOLLYWOOD PUBLICIST QUITS AS SHEEN’S REP

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:23 pm

CHARLIE SHEEN’s longtime publicist has quit as the troubled actor continues his media onslaught against the TV producers behind his suspended show TWO AND A HALF MEN.
Top Hollywood representative Stan Rosenfield, whose client roster includes George Clooney and Robert De Niro, announced he was severing ties with Sheen on Monday (28Feb11), hours after two explosive interviews aired on breakfast television in America.
In his statement, Rosenfield says, "I have worked with Charlie Sheen for a long time and I care about him very much. However, at this time, I’m unable to work effectively as his publicist and have respectfully resigned." According to reports, the publicist walked away from the job after Sheen insinuated the rep had lied on his behalf following the actor’s infamous meltdown at New York’s Plaza Hotel in October (10), which resulted in a brief hospital visit.
Rosenfield told the media his client had been treated for an "adverse allergic reaction" to medication after cops were called to investigate an alleged disturbance in Sheen’s hotel suite.
In a chat with TMZ.com, the TV star refuted Rosenfield’s excuse, saying, "I was asleep when that statement went out.
"I respect Stan… he was doing the best he could in that moment… had I confirmed with him, I probably would have come up with something better." Sheen has become embroiled in a nasty war of words with CBS network chiefs and sitcom writer Chuck Lorre, leading to the suspension of the remainder of the series current season.

SHEEN: ‘I’M A BETTER PARTY PAL THAN SINATRA & THE STONES’

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:20 pm

Troubled star CHARLIE SHEEN has boasted about his wild nights and days of partying in a new TV interview, insisting he could out-party the greats, like FRANK SINATRA and KEITH RICHARDS.
Appearing angry and defiant in the Good Morning America interview, which aired in part on Monday (28Feb11), Sheen addressed his drug use and his love of partying, refusing to accept he has a problem - even though he recently signed up for an at-home rehab course.
The actor agreed to seek help after he was hospitalised with a reported hernia following a wild night of partying at his Hollywood home in January (11).
Recalling the bash, which ended with emergency services coming to his home and wheeling him away on a stretcher, Sheen confesses, "I probably took more (drugs) than anybody could survive… I was banging seven-gram rocks (cocaine) and finishing them because that’s how I roll; I have one speed, one gear - go!" But Sheen insists he’s careful with what drugs he takes, adding, "There’s certain blends I will not entertain because that’s how people go down. I’m too smart to do that." And, asked about his love of partying, he adds, "What’s not to love, especially when you see how I party - it was epic. The run I was on made (Frank) Sinatra, (Errol) Flynn, (Mick) Jagger, (Keith) Richards, all of them, look like, y’know, droopy-eyed, armless children."

CHRIS BROWN missed a final chance to meet with his hero MICHAEL JACKSON - they had planned a get together on the morning he died.
Kiss Kiss singer Brown reveals he and Jamie Foxx were planning to spend a few hours checking out Jackson rehearsing for his ill-fated This Is It tour dates at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.
But the two stars were told to stall their travel plans when Jackson failed to show up for rehearsals.
Brown, who performed an emotional tribute to his hero at the BET Awards last year (10), tells Nylon magazine the meeting would have fallen on the day Jackson died in June, 2009.
He explains, "Me and Jamie Foxx were going to see him and (someone called) and they were like, ‘Hold up. He didn’t show up yet.’ "And then we got the call later (that he had died) and it was devastating."

An eyewitness tells People.com, "They were outside near the restroom having a discussion. It seemed a bit more serious - it certainly wasn’t a, ‘Hi, how are you?’ talk." Swift and Gyllenhaal enjoyed a brief romance last year (10) before splitting in December (10). The blonde singer has since been linked to Glee star Chord Overstreet.

GALLAGHER BACKTRACKS, REFUSES TO RULE OUT OASIS REUNION

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:17 pm

British rocker LIAM GALLAGHER has softened his stance against the possibility of a future OASIS reunion, insisting he will never say never.
The Wonderwall hitmakers stunned fans in August 2009 when songwriter Noel Gallagher quit the group following a fight with his singer brother Liam.
The frontman has since launched a new band, Beady Eye, and slammed the idea of ever reforming Oasis.
But Liam appears to be having second thoughts - in a new interview with TheQuietus.com, the singer insists there’s "no chance" of reuniting Oasis anytime soon - although he won’t rule it out completely.
He says, "I’m not going to say ‘never’, but at the moment no f**king chance.
"But it wouldn’t be for money, mate. I like to think that if we did get back together - which we f**king won’t - but if we did then it would be for the fans. It would be for the people and the music and not for f**king money." And Liam hints that he’s keen to resolve his long-running feud with his brother - although he’d rather leave it up to family and mutual friends to instigate a truce: "There’s a lot of people involved in it - without mentioning any names - but I don’t feel the need to go round to his f**king house and have the door slammed in my face.
"There’s no encouragement from any parties… If there was then it would get sorted."

FIRTH INVITED BACK TO BIRTH VILLAGE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:14 pm

COLIN FIRTH has been invited back to English village where he was born after picking up his first Oscar on Sunday night (27Feb11).
Locals in Grayshott, Surrey are tremendously proud of the actor, who claimed the Best Actor prize for his role in The King’s Speech - which was also crowned Best Picture - and they’d like to salute him properly in the picturesque village where he was born in 1960.
Community leader Peter Hatch reveals Firth only lived "a short while" in Grayshott before moving to Nigeria.
But he’s still considered a favourite son in the neighbourhood.
Hatch says, "If Colin is reading this, may we wish you many congratulations on your Oscar and invite you to join us in Grayshott to celebrate!" Many locals have suggested Firth be handed "the key to the village" to mark his Oscars win.
Meanwhile, in honour of Colin Firth’s Academy Awards win, bosses at the U.K.’s biggest budget hotel chain, Premier Inn, have renamed the first floor of their nearby venue - the Premier Inn Eastleigh - the ‘Firth Floor’.

GOLDBERG NOT IMPRESSED WITH FRANCO & HATHAWAY AT THE OSCARS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:14 pm

Four-time Oscars host WHOOPI GOLDBERG was not impressed with JAMES FRANCO and ANNE HATHAWAY’s presentation of this year’s (11) Academy Awards - because they seemed to be out of place.
The movie stars became the first male and female co-hosts to hit the stage together at the Oscars on Sunday (27Feb11), but their efforts failed to win over Goldberg.
Speaking out about the prizegiving during her magazine show The View on Monday (28Feb11), The Color Purple star said, "You’ve got to get people who understand a live show. The first few minutes of that show is yours.
"I understand what they (Oscars producers) were trying to do… and I like James Franco a lot. I like Anne Hathaway a lot. But this is a show that, it’s on you to keep it going. It’s on you. You have to be able to surf in this show. And I didn’t think they surfed as much as they could have." And Goldberg feels the co-hosts missed a huge opportunity to take control of the show after Best Supporting Actress Melissa Leo became the first winner to use the ‘F’ word in her acceptance speech.
Goldberg adds, "You have to recognise… when things happen like that, you have to be able to come and lift the audience out of their shock and move the show forward. I felt like last night there was no one in charge."

BALE & LEO MISSED EACH OTHER’S OSCARS SPEECHES

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:14 pm

Oscars protocol prevented THE FIGHTER co-stars CHRISTIAN BALE and MELISSA LEO from catching each other’s acceptance speeches on Sunday night (27Feb11) - both stars were locked out of the Kodak Theatre auditorium.
Bale was refused entry to the theatre as he returned from a bar break to catch Leo’s Best Supporting Actress win and then the actress, who played his mum in The Fighter, couldn’t get back to her seat to watch Bale’s Best Supporting Actor victory after accepting her award.
Bale missed movie history, when he failed to catch Leo’s speech, during which she became the first winner to utter the ‘F’ word on the Oscars stage.
He says, "I was out in the bar with Dicky (Eklund - the character he plays in the movie) and my wife, thinking that it was like the other awards, where you could just wander on in and then being barred out. I was literally banging on the door with Dicky… and they wouldn’t let us in." And then Leo failed to catch her co-star’s win: "I was locked out of the auditorium when he was getting his award."

SHEEN HAS SUPPORT OF PENN AND GIBSON IN TV BATTLE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:29 pm

Embattled actor CHARLIE SHEEN has received the full support of celebrity pals like SEAN PENN and MEL GIBSON as he battles TV executives over the abrupt cancellation of his hit show TWO AND A HALF MEN.
The star is at war with CBS bosses and sitcom writer Chuck Lorre after launching a series of scathing attacks on the show creator, prompting producers to pull the programme from the air for the remainder of its current eighth season.
He has since vowed to sue CBS, Lorre and Warner Bros. chiefs for a reported $320 million (£213 million) for shutting down the shoot, while he is also demanding to be paid $3 million (£2 million) per episode if they want him to return to work on Two and a Half Men.
Critics have been quick to ridicule Sheen for his behaviour and demands, but the actor insists he is "winning" because other stars, including Penn, Gibson and Colin Farrell, who have all faced scandals and troubles in the past, have been quick to reach out to him.
Calling them "radical people", he tells ABC News, "They didn’t give me any advice… It was just love. Occasionally, you know, a giant marquee name comes through on your caller I.D. And it’s like, ‘winning’." And Sheen is urging his "billions" of fans to make a stand with him to force TV producers into putting Two and a Half Men back on air: "Rally behind me with radical violence and focus and say that, ‘No, we will not stand for this. We will not stand for our man being made the scapegoat when he’s made everybody around him rich. And now they’re punishing them and turning his crew family against him.’ You know, it’s really not cool, man.’"

SHEEN LASHES OUT AT ALLEGATIONS OF VIOLENCE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:26 pm

CHARLIE SHEEN has hit out at reports of his violent behaviour, insisting the women accusing him of physically lashing out are "making stuff up".
The actor has been in and out of the headlines since his arrest on Christmas Day in 2009 following a heated argument with estranged wife Brooke Mueller in Aspen, Colorado, during which he allegedly threatened to kill her.
He pleaded guilty to a charge of misdemeanour assault and was handed a suspended jail term, but he found himself under the spotlight again in October (10), when police were called to his New York hotel suite over reports he had trashed his room during a night of passion with adult actress Capri Anderson.
She claimed she had been forced to lock herself in the bathroom after Sheen accused her of taking his watch and began hurling insults at her and throwing items around the suite. The 22 year old subsequently filed a second-degree harassment charge against the actor.
But Sheen has dismissed the allegations in a candid TV interview with ABC News, although he refused to go into specific details.
He said, "I can’t do that right here because that means I’ll have to expose people and regardless of what tomfoolery or skullduggery they’re involved in, I don’t roll people, I can’t do that." However, when asked point blank if he was violent during the two incidents, he replied, "No I was not. They’re making stuff up. Listen to the source, and everybody takes their word over mine?" And Sheen insisted he will only ever use force to defend his kids: "Now, (only) when it’s needed to protect my family. And it’s unlike anything you’ve ever seen."

SHEEN UNREPENTANT ABOUT HEADLINE-GRABBING BEHAVIOUR

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:26 pm

CHARLIE SHEEN is unapologetic for his "insane" behaviour following the cancellation of his hit sitcom TWO AND A HALF MEN, insisting he has no reason to make amends for lashing out at creator CHUCK LORRE.
The troubled star’s future on the TV show has been thrown into doubt after CBS network producers scrapped the programme for the remainder of the current season in response to Sheen’s very public war of words with the comedy writer.
Sheen has opened up about the feud in two candid U.S. TV interviews, and in his first chat with ABC News, he offered Lorre a half-hearted apology.
He said, "I’m sorry if I offended you. I didn’t know you were so sensitive. I just thought, you know, after you wailing on me for eight years that I could, like, take a few shots back. I didn’t know you were gonna take your little ball and go home and punish everybody in the process." But the actor had changed his stance by the time he gave his second high-profile interview to NBC host Jeff Rosen, in which he appeared defiant and unrepentant about his controversial actions.
During the chat, he brazenly demanded to be paid $3 million (£2 million) per episode if producers wanted him to return to work on Two and a Half Men, because he’s "tired of pretending he’s not special".
Asked whether he owes CBS chiefs and Lorre an apology, he replied, "No, they owe me a big one, while licking my feet. People think I’m insane, or they don’t think what I’m saying is true; I have no interest in their retarded opinions. I will live the way I want, I will live inside of every moment and they can find the most comfortable chair in their small house and enjoy the show." And Sheen insists he won’t be the one suffering from a lack of work as a result of his unruly behaviour - he claims he’s been inundated with scripts and potential projects.
He says, "(I don’t need to) convince anybody (to work with me). (Movie information website) IMDB, right there, 62 movies, a ton of success. Come on, I won Best Picture (for Platoon) at 20. I wasn’t even trying, wasn’t even warm.
"I’ve got Roman Coppola with a script. David Ward with Major League 3, I’ve got Nick Cassavetes’ God is a Bullet… And they’re so excitable that I might be available, because I haven’t been for ages."

DYLAN WAS A BIG GRAMMY SURPRISE FOR MUMFORD & SONS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:26 pm

Folk group MUMFORD & SONS had no idea they would be performing with music icon BOB DYLAN at the Grammy Awards until the very last moment.
The group’s keyboard player Ben Lovett admits there was no time for him and his bandmates to get nervous about playing with Dylan - because they weren’t told who their "special guest" would be until they hit Los Angeles for rehearsals.
The Brit says, "They were like, ‘We haven’t confirmed who it is that you’re going to be collaborating with’, but they said, ‘Trust us, you won’t be disappointed’. They were right." Dylan and Mumford & Sons performed as part of a tribute to folk music at the Grammys on 13 February (11).

Country legend KENNY ROGERS has ruled out ever going under the knife again, insisting plastic surgery is too risky at the age of 72.
The Lucille star has previously admitted to a little cosmetic help to rid his face of wrinkles around his eyes, but he has no interest in having any other work done now he’s got his six-year-old twins Justin and Jordan to think about.
He tells People magazine, "At my age now, I would never do that again because I have two young kids and there’s a danger with any surgery."

ADELE INSPIRED BY HEARTBREAK LETTERS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:23 pm

Singer ADELE was inspired to write the heartbreak songs on her hit new album 21 by penning letters to the lover who dumped her.
The Rolling in the Deep hitmaker never sent the correspondence, but kept each sealed and stamped letter in a box of keepsakes.
She tells Entertainment Weekly magazine, "I must have written him (ex) about five or six letters at different stages of the recovery. I’ve written, put in an envelope, stamped (them) and everything, but never sent.
"I’ve got a little box of stuff that reminds me of us, and they’re sill in there."

MOORE STUNNED BY WELCH MEETING AT THE OSCARS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:23 pm

MANDY MOORE was a big winner at the Oscars on Sunday (27Feb11) before the ceremony had even started - a TV presenter helped her stage the ultimate hook-up on the red carpet.
Moore, who performed the nominated Best Song I See The Light at the Academy Awards, told TV host Chris Harrison she was very keen to meet fellow performer Florence Welch, who hit the stage with A.R. Rahman to sing If I Rise.
And when Harrison spotted the Brit walking by minutes later, he staged an impromptu get together.
Moore gushed, "I’m such a big fan of you! I loved watching you in the rehearsals. You’re amazing!" Welch was thrilled by the flattery, and after she walked away, Moore said, "Thank you so much. I owe you a lot for that." Unfortunately the meeting didn’t result in a win for either of the singers’ songs - both tracks were beaten by Randy Newman’s Toy Story 3 tune We Belong Together.
