DESPERATE-TO-PLEASE PORTMAN IDENTIFIED WITH BLACK SWAN CHARACTER

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 2:43 am

NATALIE PORTMAN could relate to the dedicated ballet dancer she played in acclaimed new movie BLACK SWAN, because she spent her childhood seeking everyone’s approval.
The Golden Globe winner and Oscar front-runner made her movie debut in 1994’s Leon when she was just 13 and appeared in a string of films before her role as Queen Amidala in 1999’s Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace made her a huge star.
But Portman admits she has struggled to overcome her need to please people, which stems from her early days as an actress - and she found similar traits in her troubled and ambitious character Nina, who drives herself mad.
She tells Britain’s Daily Telegraph newspaper, "When I started out as a child actress, I wanted to please everyone, and was always looking for approval. Having grown up, I’m not totally immune to approval, but I do look to please myself.
"It’s all to do with finding a way to express yourself instead of being the way someone else wants you to be. Nina starts out as this childlike woman, trying to please her mother, trying to please her ballet director and fit exactly into the standards of this world that’s prescribed to her. Finally she finds that perfection only lies in pleasing herself."

CHOU IMPRESSED ROGEN AND GONDRY WITH ENGLISH LANGUAGE SKILLS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 2:43 am

Actor SETH ROGEN and director MICHEL GONDRY were left stunned by how quickly Taiwanese pop star JAY CHOU mastered the English language for his role in THE GREEN HORNET, because he could only string together a few words before the cameras rolled.
Chou stars as Rogen’s sidekick Kato in the new big screen adaptation of the popular comic books, and Gondry reveals casting the singer-turned-actor in the superhero movie was an easy decision to make.
He says, "We had a conference on (video calling software) Skype where Seth was reading with Jay and we felt there was already chemistry, even though it was with a 10-second delay, and we liked him for his acting." And the Knocked Up star admits he was highly impressed by Chou’s determination to learn how to converse in English so he could perfect his film role.
Rogen says, "He knew very little (English) when we started filming and a few weeks in, he could improvise his own dialogue and come up with his own jokes, which was very frustrating because that took me years to learn how to do!"

DRIVER TO SING IN NEW MOVIE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:28 pm

Actress MINNIE DRIVER is set to show off her musical skills in new movie HUNKY DORY by performing with a children’s orchestra.
The actress, who has recorded two albums, has never sung on film before and she admits it was a dream come true to combine her two passions.
She says, "Apart from singing the title track on the Phantom of The Opera soundtrack this is my first time singing on film. It’s the best experience I’ve had.
"It was incredible singing all the music from the 70s; I sang a Beach Boys song, I sang a Dusty Springfield song. My favourite was singing Strange Magic. The orchestra in the movie were these kids from seven to 17 and they had been workshopping for the last three years.
"They played everything on all of the tracks. So you have Life On Mars by David Bowie played by these kids incredibly."

PRICE CONFIRMS MARRIAGE SPLIT, SLAMS HUSBAND IN LENGTHY STATEMENT

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:26 pm

British model-turned-reality star KATIE PRICE has confirmed her second marriage is over following weeks of press speculation.
Price, also known by her glamour modelling alias Jordan, married cage fighter Alex Reid in Las Vegas last year (Feb10), just months after divorcing Australian singer Peter Andre, the father of two of her children.
Rumours of another marriage break-up have been rife in the U.K. tabloids for weeks, and Price fuelled the reports by taking to her Twitter.com page to tell followers the union was in "crisis".
The couple has failed to work through its troubles and Price has released a lengthy statement to the British media labelling her latest marriage a "mistake", accusing Reid of trying to cash in on her fame.
The statement reads, "Alex and I have had a number of difficulties over the past few months. I accept that these were in part caused by my marrying too quickly - we all make mistakes and this was one.
"However, Alex changed from the man I fell in love with, and some of his behaviour became difficult for me to understand and caused issues. I have tried to help him with these issues but they have put a considerable strain on our relationship. Our difficulties were also not helped by Alex becoming more fascinated by life in the media eye." Price also claims that her estranged husband is refusing to leave her English country estate, which has been adapted to suit her blind son Harvey’s needs.
She adds, "It is true that I have asked Alex to leave the family home and that he will not do so. I would leave myself but the house is equipped for Harvey’s needs. Alex would like to portray himself as honourable and I hope he acts that way.
"I am deeply upset that my relationship with Alex has failed but I know it is the right thing for my children and I that we separate. My children are my absolute priority in this and they are being shielded from what is happening."

LOPEZ THREATENED GERVAIS AT THE GOLDEN GLOBES

JENNIFER LOPEZ threatened Golden Globes host RICKY GERVAIS with physical violence if he poked fun at her as she took to the stage as a presenter at the ceremony on Sunday (16Jan11).
Gervais’ Globes comedy left a lot to be desired by many critics and celebrities, who have taken aim at the Brit for his mean-spirited banter - Tom Hanks and Robert Downey, Jr. actually targeted the funnyman from the stage at the prizegiving.
But Lopez was determined not to be embarrassed by Gervais as she took to the stage with co-presenter Alec Baldwin.
She explains, "We’re about to walk out and Ricky shows up and I said, ‘Listen, I will kill you, you understand. I am from New York, my husband fights… we both fight, we will beat you up after the show.’ "I said, ‘Let me see your card…’ He said, ‘You’re gonna love it’." The singer/actress admits she was not offended by Gervais’ Jenny From The Block gag, insisting, "It was funny". But she did feel for others who were savaged by the Brit.
She tells Access Hollywood, "He’s very gutsy. It takes a lot of guts to get up there and make the comments he made… I’m sure in his mind it was all in good fun… There were some awkward (moments)." "He may have hit one or two (jokes) below the belt… Some comments were tough."

AEROSMITH RECORDING THIS WEEKEND

AEROSMITH’s recording plans have been drastically brought forward - the group is planning a get together in the studio this weekend (22-23Jan11).

He says, "We’ve certainly been writing. I know Joe (Perry)’s got some licks, and I got a bunch of songs that I’ve written for solo and/or Aerosmith.
"Friday I’m writing with (producer) Marti Frederiksen, and Saturday we’re into a writing programme with the band." And the rocker reveals Aerosmith are already planning for their next big tour: "We’re already booked for a tour for November and December, that should be South America and Japan." It’s a busy week for Tyler - the new season of American Idol debuts on Wednesday (19Jan11).
