STING JOINS AUSTRALIAN FLOOD CAMPAIGN

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:41 pm

British rocker STING has become the latest star to join the campaign to raise funds for the victims of the Australian floods - he is asking fans to donate money at his concerts Down Under.
The former Police frontman has already joined musicians including Pink, Kings Of Leon, Beyonce, Foo Fighters, Bruce Springsteen, Billy Joel and John Mayer by donating a track to charity album Flood Relief - Artists For The Flood Appeal.
Sting, who is currently touring in the country, has also handed his own cash to the cause and he is asking devotees who attend his gigs to contribute too.
He tells the Sydney Morning Herald, "It would be difficult to come here and not deal with that. We’re asking people to make donations at the shows for the Salvation Army and the Red Cross and the Premier’s Appeal.
"(I’m) making a personal donation and on this compilation album for the victims. It’s a small thing, but we do what we can. We get a lot from our audience so we have to give something back occasionally." Thousands of Queensland residents were forced to flee their homes this month (Jan11) as rising flood waters ravaged the state. More than 25 people are feared dead.

AUSTRALIA’S COUNTRY MUSIC CHIEFS APOLOGISE FOR AWARDS MIX-UP

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:38 pm

Organisers of the Country Music Association of Australia awards (CMAA) have apologised after LEE KERNAGHAN was wrongly named the winner of the Best Album trophy.
The genre’s top musicians attended the Tamworth Country Music Festival on Saturday (22Jan11), but bosses were left red-faced following an awards mix-up.
Host Ray Hadley incorrectly stated that Kernaghan was the winner of the 2011 Golden Guitar prize for album of the year - but the envelope he was handed actually contained the result for top selling album of the year, which Kernaghan had already won for his record Planet Country earlier in the ceremony.
Graeme Connors was later revealed as the winner of the Best Album honour for Still Walking, and chiefs have now apologised for the mistake.
CMAA general manager Cheryl Hayes says, "The album of the year should have been rightfully announced being Graeme Connors. At that point (on Saturday), a great deal of confusion ensued… it was very late.
"There are an inordinate number of people that are involved in the production of the awards. We clearly don’t believe that this is good enough for country music, we don’t believe it’s good enough for the artists. We are incredibly sorry, we take full responsibility.
"Unfortunately… at the end of the awards and with the confusion and the number of people involved, we were unable to get everyone at the same place at the same time. It will never happen again." Kernaghan adds, "The most important thing is that the correct winner takes home the Golden Guitar. There is such thing as human error and this is what occurred on the night."
