Actress GRETA GERWIG has pedalled off with a top-of-the-range bicycle which her ARTHUR co-star RUSSELL BRAND bought as a gift for his new bride KATY PERRY.
Brand offered the bike to his actress pal after Perry turned it down last year (10).
And Gerwig admits she secretly revels in the fact that her two-wheeler was meant for the pop star.
She says, "He originally got it for Katy Perry, but she wanted a different kind of bike. He said (to me), ‘Do you want Katy’s bike? You can have it.’ "So I have this really nice teal cruiser with a basket on the front. I don’t know if she ever rode it but I like to think it is from her."

Actress MAGGIE Q has JACKIE CHAN to thank for her acting career - because the movie superstar chose to mentor her as the next action film femme fatale when even she had doubts about her abilities.
The Live Free or Die Hard star, real name Maggie Quigley, was modelling in Asia when she decided to try out for one of Chan’s talent searches 14 years ago.
She says, "He was producing movies for the young generation… and he was finding these young people that he wanted to train as the next generation of action stars and I was the girl that he picked. He picked a bunch of boys and I was the only girl.
"I have no idea (why he picked me)… I couldn’t even touch my toes, I was inflexible… I’d read about myself and it always says, ‘martial arts expert’, and that always makes me laugh."

Beloved TV personality JAY LENO will be honoured with Harvard University’s Hasty Pudding Man of The Year honour.
The comedian and late-night TV host will join actress Julianne Moore as this year’s (11) recipients of the irreverent prize.
Leno will be roasted next month (04Feb11) as part of the festivities.
The awards are presented annually to celebrities.

Moviemaker DAVID LYNCH has unearthed lost outtakes featuring the late DENNIS HOPPER for the upcoming Blu Ray release of cult film BLUE VELVET.
The Twin Peaks director felt sure the footage of Hopper and Kyle MacLachlan had been destroyed, and was thrilled to find it during a clear-out.
Lynch tells Los Angeles radio station KCRW, "I find out that Dino (De Laurentiis), the producer, doesn’t know where they are. They’re gone. His company went bankrupt, it was taken over by another company, and then it was sold to other companies. No one knew where they were, they were gone. So depressing.
"Lately, those have been found. Somewhere up in Seattle. It’s incredible. I’m seeing stuff I thought was gone forever. And hopefully some of those scenes… will end up on the new Blu Ray."

Comedian STEVE HARVEY isn’t laughing about three new viral videos posted on YouTube.com - in them his ex-wife blasts him for being a terrible husband.
The 54 year old, who has made his name as a literary relationship guru, has been demonised by his ex, Mary, online.
She has accused him of cheating on her constantly throughout their marriage - and then evicting her from their former home.
In the videos, she says, "He turned my son against me, had me evicted from my house… I woke up, and everything was gone." The Harveys ended their 16-year marriage in 2005.
And Mary drops a huge bombshell - she alleges that her ex-husband’s current wife, Marjorie Bridges, was originally his mistress when they were married.
A statement from Harvey’s attorney reads, "We are appalled and aware of the videos and other fabricated documents… which contained false, misleading, derogatory, disparaging, malicious, explicit and slanderous information about Mr. Harvey, his current wife and others.
"We are saddened that the ex-wife has resorted to such devious and selfish behavior, with a reckless disregard for their minor son, her adult son and Mr. Harvey’s other children."

JAMES FRANCO will have to wait and see if he’s nominated for an Academy Award when the shortlist is revealed on Tuesday morning (25Jan11) - because he’s refusing to skip a class at Yale University to watch the live announcement.
Franco, who will co-host next month’s (Feb11) Oscars, is among those expected to land a Best Actor nod for his role in grisly survival drama 127 Hours.
But the star has snubbed an invite from the movie’s bosses to join them for a breakfast party in New York because he hates missing his lectures at the prestigious school in New Haven, Connecticut.
He tells the Associated Press, "I will be at school. I will be at Yale. Fox Searchlight asked me if I would go to New York to be ready… in case that I was nominated. I said no.
"I’m not gonna miss class to go and presume that I’m going to be nominated, but if you want to bring out a camera crew to Yale and wait and see if I get nominated, I’d be happy to step out of class and say I’m very grateful!"

AVATAR star SAM WORTHINGTON is single again after reportedly splitting from his longterm girlfriend.
The actor has been dating Natalie Mark since 2008, but they’ve recently parted ways, according to Australia’s Herald Sun.
An insider tells the publication, "It’s been on the cards for a while, I believe." Worthington has rarely talked about his relationship with Mark, but when asked last year (10) about marriage, he declared, "We’re just enjoying the run."

THE KING’S SPEECH has been given another big Oscars boost just two days after claiming gold at the Producers Guild Awards in Hollywood - the cast has won the Best Ensemble prize at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival.
Colin Firth, Geoffrey Rush, Helena Bonham Carter and their castmates will be honoured at the 26th annual bash in California next week (31Jan11).
The film, which also features performances by Guy Pearce, Derek Jacobi and Claire Bloom, is expected to be among the 10 movies nominated for a Best Picture Oscar when the nods are announced on Tuesday morning (25Jan11).
Firth was honoured with the festival’s Outstanding Performance of the Year award last year (10) for his work in A Single Man. Rush will be honoured separately at the festival with the Montecito Award.
The festival begins later this week (27Jan11).

Rapper KANYE WEST is preparing to release a new solo album this summer (11), just months after wowing critics with MY BEAUTIFUL DARK TWISTED FANTASY.
The Stronger hitmaker’s fifth release was named the album of 2010 in a string of end-of-year polls.
West has been recording a joint project, called Watch The Throne, with his hip-hop pal Jay-Z and the disc is due to hit retailers in March (11).
But the prolific star isn’t stopping there - he has been hard at work on new material for his next solo album.
In a series of posts on his Twitter.com blog, he writes, "I’ll be back this SUMMER!!!!!!!!!! IN THE STUDIO NOW… WATCH THE THRONE COMING IN 2 MONTHS!!!!!!!!!! ELTON JOHN has ruled out a performance at the royal wedding in England this spring (Apr11) because he doesn’t really know PRINCE WILLIAM and his bride-to-be.
The rocker famously performed a special version of his Candle in the Wind hit at the funeral of William’s mother Princess Diana in 1997 - and music industry experts expect him to be at the top of the heir’s wish list when it comes to selecting stars for his wedding to Kate Middleton.
But Elton tells HollyScoop.com people are getting carried away by his connections to the royals - and he’s not even expecting an invite.
He says, "I don’t know them (princes William and Harry) very well. I’ve only met them twice - once when they were young and once at the Diana Memorial Concert… I knew their mother but that is the only thing.
"I’m not playing at the wedding. I haven’t been asked and I don’t expect to be asked." But he thinks Diana’s eldest son and his wife-to-be make the perfect couple: "I just hope they have the most wonderful day and life together. They seem so happy."

LINDSAY LOHAN has taken to Twitter.com to dismiss reports she’s dating INCEPTION star TOM HARDY.
The British actor, who struggled with alcohol addiction and drug abuse in his youth, was rumoured to be helping Lohan stay clean after she completed a court-ordered stint in rehab earlier this month (Jan11).
His publicist denied rumours Hardy was her sponsor, prompting gossips to stir up a romance.
But now Lohan insists she’s not dating the actor.
In a brief tweet on Monday (24Jan11), she wrote, "Tom Hardy is just a friend of mine… The tabloids are wrong."

GEORGE CLOONEY’s recent malaria scare has prompted a massive print ad campaign for a U.S. religious group’s initiative to stamp out the disease in parts of Africa.
The quick thinkers at The People of the United Methodist Church have jumped on Clooney’s health crisis, which he revealed during a chat with newsman Piers Morgan last week (ends21Jan11), and used it to boost their charity coffers.
In a full page ad, taken out in many U.S. newspapers on Monday (24Jan11), the charity bosses write, "Not everyone is as lucky as George Clooney." They add, "George Clooney’s recent experience with malaria has made the disease a more high-profile issue than it was just a few days ago. Malaria is killing a child in Africa every 45 seconds, yet most of the world doesn’t know.
"Unlike the 800,000 people that die every year from malaria, Clooney has made a full recovery. We believe that malaria can be eliminated by 2015, just as it was in the U.S. years ago." The ad concludes with, "Between now and World Malaria Day, April 25, 2011, we are asking as many people as possible to support the cause by hosting a malaria house party or make a donation to save lives."

British actors ROBSON GREEN and JEROME FLYNN grew so tired of music mogul SIMON COWELL’s efforts to turn them into pop stars they requested he legally be prevented from contacting them.
Cowell took seven months to persuade the TV stars to record an album after their version of the Righteous Brothers’ Unchained Melody became a hit on 1980s drama Soldier, Soldier.
The duo went on to record a string of chart hits that never would have been if talent spotter Cowell hadn’t ignored letters from their lawyers.
The mogul became obsessed with Robson & Jerome after record stores around Britain started calling the label where he worked as an A&R man looking for copies of an Unchained Melody single that never existed.
Speaking candidly as part of the Oprah Presents Master Class TV series, Cowell recalls, "One of the girls said, ‘They’re all trying to buy a record that was on a show last night by these two actors called Robson & Jerome.’ I’d never heard of them; I didn’t even know what the show was.
"It took me about seven months to persuade these two to sign a recording contract with me. I drove them so mad that I was actually sent a solicitor’s letter… saying, ‘You’ve got to stop harassing my client.’ "The reason I kept doing it was is because a, I knew I could persuade them to do it and b, I knew it was gonna be successful… We had the biggest-selling single, biggest-selling album that year."

Rocker BRET MICHAELS is undergoing surgery in Arizona to mend a hole in his heart.
Doctors discovered the problem last year (10) and the Poison star has finally checked into St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center in Phoenix.
His doctors hope to plug the hole with a permanent device on Monday (24Jan11).
Michaels cheated death last year (10) when he suffered a brain haemorrhage. It was while medics were treating him that they discovered he had a heart condition.

NEW KIDS ON THE BLOCK star JONATHAN KNIGHT has been inadvertently ‘outed’ as gay by 1980s pop star TIFFANY.
The I Think We’re Alone Now singer was promoting her new movie Mega Python vs. Gatoroid on TV show What Happens Live when she dropped the bombshell.
Show host Andy Cohen asked Tiffany if she had any romantic gossip about her former tour partners and she blurted out the news that Knight was gay, confessing she briefly dated the singer and may have been the one responsible for "turning him".
She added, "I had issues with that… but now, looking back when we were dating, he was so much fun; we used to do facials together. He was so easy to talk to." After the big TV reveal, a mortified Tiffany insisted she had no idea Knight had never ‘come out’.
She stated, "I really didn’t know that was the wrong thing to say." But Knight, who has yet to confirm the gay news, has since taken to his Twitter.com account to reassure his ex that he’s not mad at her.
He wrote, "I’m so devastated. How can I not remember getting facials…? Tiff, please don’t lose any sleep over it! I know you weren’t being mean and I found it to be funny!"

CHER’s son CHAZ BONO has signed on for a sequel to his documentary film BECOMING CHAZ.
The 41 year old, who was born a girl, allowed directors Fenton Bailey and Randy Barbato to film him as he underwent gender reassignment surgery in 2008.
The documentary features footage of Bono preparing to go under the knife to remove his breasts, while his superstar mum Cher admits to the cameras that she is "terrified" for her son ahead of the operation.
Bono joined Bailey and Barbato to unveil the finished product at the Sundance Film Festival in Utah on Sunday (23Jan11), when the filmmakers revealed a sequel is already in the works.
And Bono is more than happy to allow the cameras to keep rolling, because he wants his experience to help others who may be struggling with their own sexual identities.
He tells Eonline.com, "I wanted to do this because I wanted to help people. And I knew that… I could put a face on this issue that people just don’t understand because it’s a hard one to understand. I wanted to be able to change people’s hearts and minds on this." Reports from Sundance suggest Oprah Winfrey is hoping to buy the documentary and air it on her new OWN TV network.

Moviemaker KEVIN SMITH bought his own film during a publicity stunt auction following the premiere of RED STATE at the Sundance Film Festival in Utah on Sunday (23Jan11) The director had announced he’d be selling the distribution rights to film companies immediately after the screening of the independent film at Eccles Theater.
But after the credits rolled, Smith and his producer pal John Gordon took to the stage and it quickly became clear the audition was a publicity stunt.
Smith told the crowd, "Selling my film is equivalent to having a baby and sending it off for someone else to raise." Gordon then began the auction and sold the film to Smith himself for just $20 (£13.30).
The director then announced he was planning to self-distribute the film, through his newly-formed Smodcast Pictures.

KATHLEEN TURNER is returning to Broadway this spring (11), as a recovering alcoholic nun.
The actress has signed on to play Sister Jamison Connelly, a nun whose faith is tested when she agrees to sponsor a 19-year-old drug addict, in High.
The play, written by Matthew Lombardo, will be directed by Rob Ruggiero.
Turner’s last Broadway appearance was her 2005 Tony-nominated role in the revival of Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf? High opens on 19 April (11) at New York City’s Booth Theatre.
