THERE WILL BE BLOOD star PAUL DANO has joined MICHAEL SHANNON among the stars of JAMES FRANCO’s directorial debut AS I LAY DYING.
Joaquin Phoenix and Richard Jenkins are also in talks to join the cast, according to CinemaBlend.com.
Franco will take a leading role in the movie, an adaptation of the acclaimed William Faulkner novel.
According to MTV News, Franco will start shooting this summer (11).

Director DANNY BOYLE keeps his Academy Award hidden under his bed at home.
The Brit won the Best Director Oscar in 2008 for his hit Slumdog Millionaire, but, after having the honour on display at home for a while, he decided to store it away.
He tells Britain’s Live from Studio Five, "It’s in a shoe bag in a box under the bed. I used to have it out (on display) and get up every day and you just can’t look it - it’s like an elephant in the living room, you cannot avoid it." Boyle could soon have another Oscar to add to his collection - on Tuesday (25Jan11) he was nominated in the Best Adapted Screenplay category for gritty survival drama 127 Hours.

Actress PENELOPE CRUZ is a new mum, according to unconfirmed reports.
The Spanish beauty was admitted to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles earlier this week (begs24Jan11) and gave birth on Tuesday (25Jan11), reports Spanish newspaper El Pais.
If the news is true, the baby was born on the same day father Javier Bardem received a Best Actor Academy Award nomination for his role in Biutiful.
Cruz’s spokesperson revealed in September (10) that the star and Bardem were expecting their first child together in early 2011.
The actress, who wed Bardem in an intimate ceremony in the Bahamas last July (10), held a baby shower at her Los Angeles home earlier this month (Jan11).

Actor KURT RUSSELL is overjoyed at the prospect of becoming a ‘grandfather’ again when KATE HUDSON gives birth - and he’s secretly hoping the baby is a girl.
The actress and Muse rocker Matt Bellamy, who have been dating since last spring (10), are expecting their first child together later this year (11) - and Russell, the longterm partner of Hudson’s mother Goldie Hawn, can’t wait for a new addition to the family.
He tells People.com, "It’s fun having babies once again. We just really like that. And it’s fun to watch them grow. It’s fun to see what they’re grasping. I think secretly we’re all hoping for a girl." The 59 year old also admits he gets on well with Bellamy, adding, "He’s really fun. We all enjoy him. We understand what Katie sees in the guy. He’s a great guy." But Russell insists there are no wedding bells on the horizon.
Hudson already has a son, Ryder, from her relationship with ex-husband Chris Robinson.

MICHAEL JACKSON’s former personal assistant and friend has landed a book deal to lift the lid on life with the late King of Pop.
Frank Cascio, who claims to have been a "lifelong" confidante of the superstar, will release his memoir My Friend Michael with publishers William Morrow this autumn (11).
The tome will provide fans with an "uplifting and definitive" account of Jackson and his "terribly scarred" experience of fame, according to a statement from the HarperCollins imprint.
Jackson died after suffering a cardiac arrest in 2009.

JOHN TRAVOLTA and JAMES FRANCO are in talks to play father and son in a new film about America’s notorious crime family the GOTTIs.
Producer Marty Ingels, who was spotted dining with Travolta in California on Monday night (24Jan11), has revealed the Grease star will play John Gotti in the film, while Franco is in the running to play John Gotti, Jr, according to TMZ.com.
The Notebook director Nick Cassavetes is reworking the script.

British singer-turned-TV presenter MYLEENE KLASS has dismissed reports she has given birth to her second child.
The former Hear’Say star is seven months pregnant with a baby girl - her second daughter with fiance Graham Quinn.
Klass was rumoured to have gone into labour earlier this month (Jan11), but she has spoken out to reassure fans she’s still carrying the baby.
In a series of posts on her Twitter.com page, she writes, "I see I gave birth last week! Um, I don’t quite know what to say! Despite reports, scan suggests baby’s very much ensconced ‘in there’.
"I HAVE NOT had the baby. What’s the rush guys?!" Klass and Quinn are parents to Ava, three.

One-time Aussie pop hunk RICK SPRINGFIELD is recovering from surgery to repair his rotator cuff following a recent motorcycle accident.
The Jessie’s Girl hitmaker appeared on U.S. daytime chat show The Talk on Tuesday (25Jan11) sporting an arm sling, and explained he has been forced to take a break from music to recover after crashing his bike.

Rapper LIL WAYNE struggled with his new-found freedom in the days following his prison release last November (10) - because he wasn’t in the right frame of mind to party.
The hitmaker served eight months behind bars at New York’s notorious Rikers Island prison on illegal weapons possession charges - and he admits it took him weeks to accept he was a free man.

"We went to the strip club afterward, but I didn’t really get to enjoy myself. It was too much of a shock."

Movie star GREG KINNEAR has responded to remarks made by politician ROBERT F. KENNEDY, JR. suggesting the TV adaptation of his family’s story, which features the actor, was historically inaccurate.
Executives at America’s The History Channel have scrapped plans to air the project, in which Kinnear plays assassinated John F. Kennedy, claiming the finished product wasn’t a "fit" for the network.
Producers are now scrambling to find a U.S. home for the series and Kinnear insists he’s proud of the project.
He tells Access Hollywood, "It’s unfortunate.
"We had an extraordinary, great group behind the show and it was done with great care and sensitivity and The History Channel, for whatever reason, got into the hot box on that.
"We’re hoping it finds a home. I’m not sure what its status is right now." Robert F. Kennedy Jr. previously stated that he had heard the project was "created by a group of people who had an extreme and ingrained hostility towards my family and that they… twisted history." The Kennedys also features Katie Holmes as Jackie Kennedy.

ZSA ZSA GABOR’s husband has revealed the couple was forced to put their Bel Air mansion on the market to pay for the actress’ spiralling medical bills.
Prince Frederic von Anhalt put the property up for sale last week (ends23Jan11) after Gabor, 93, had part of her right leg amputated to prevent the spread of gangrene.
During a media tour of the sprawling property on Tuesday (25Jan11), von Anhalt told the press, "I just want to settle my wife’s debts and keep her comfortable.
"The upkeep alone per month on the house is $35,000. It gives me a big headache, and I cannot afford to keep paying it." He also claimed Gabor’s monthly medical bills amount to $21,000 (£14,000).
The European royal revealed his ailing wife is "not very good" as she recovers from surgery, telling reporters the actress can no longer recognise her surroundings.
Gabor’s daughter Francesca Hilton is disputing the house sale, insisting her stepfather, von Anhalt, has no right to put the property on the market without her consent.

NICOLE KIDMAN had a special connection to COLIN FIRTH’s new film THE KING’S SPEECH - because she grew up with a stammer.
In the film, the actor plays stuttering British king George VI and Kidman can understand what the royal went through.
