VENTURA SUES OVER AIRPORT SEARCH

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:23 pm

Wrestler-turned-politician JESSE VENTURA is taking legal action against U.S. transport authorities after enduring a "humiliating" security search at an airport.
The former Minnesota Governor is suing officials at the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) and the Department of Homeland Security, alleging his rights were violated when he was patted down at an airport in November (10).
In his lawsuit, the Demolition Man star maintains he was subjected to “humiliation and degradation through unwanted touching, gripping and rubbing of the intimate areas of his body" during the search.
Ventura wants a Minnesota federal judge to order bosses to cease their “warrantless and suspicionless” security measures and names Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano and TSA Administrator John Pistole as defendants, according to GossipCop.com.

MEESTER ISOLATED HERSELF FOR MOVIE ROLE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:20 pm

LEIGHTON MEESTER’s castmates on the set of upcoming movie THE ROOMMATE were convinced the actress was "antisocial", because she completely isolated herself to prepare for the disturbing role.
The Gossip Girl star plays a deranged student in the thriller alongside Minka Kelly, Billy Zane and Cam Gigandet.
Meester used a number of acting techniques to add realism to the role and she locked herself away in her trailer for long periods of time to perfect her portrayal of the loathsome character.
She tells Nylon, "I spent a lot of time listening to music that made me feel a certain way, and I started staring in the mirror and not liking myself." And even her co-stars noticed her odd behaviour - Kelly adds, "People on set would mistake her for being sort of antisocial. She would isolate herself from everyone." The Roommate is due for release in the U.S. next week (04Feb11).

SMITH MOCKS RED STATE PROTESTERS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:20 pm

Director KEVIN SMITH ridiculed demonstrators at the Sundance Film Festival screening of his new horror movie RED STATE by staging his own mock protest - complete with rude signs.
The filmmaker came face-to-face with members of the infamous Westboro Baptist Church at the event in Utah on Sunday (23Jan11) as they rallied against Smith’s picture, which satirises Christian fundamentalism.
Smith recruited fans and his Clerks co-star Jason Mewes to help him picket, and they parodied their rivals’ banners with signs reading, "God hates critics", "D**k tastes yummy", "Down with mutants" and "Thor hates straights".
In footage obtained by Showbiz411.com, the religious zealots can be heard telling Smith to "go to hell", while he fires back: "We live in America! Everyone’s allowed to say whatever they want (and) make stupid s**t signs. I got some! Anybody can write bulls**t on a sign!"

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:17 pm

JACKI WEAVER felt "relieved" when her Oscar nomination was announced on Tuesday (25Jan11) - because her fellow Australians would have been "so disappointed" if she hadn’t been recognised for her role in ANIMAL KINGDOM.
The Aussie was taken by surprise when she found out she will compete for the Best Supporting Actress Academy Award for her star turn in the crime drama, against Amy Adams, Helena Bonham Carter, Melissa Leo and Hailee Steinfeld.

VALENTINE SUES OVER SEXUAL ASSAULT ALLEGATIONS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:17 pm

KEVIN JAMES’ older brother, comedian GARY VALENTINE, is suing a woman who allegedly accused him of sexual assault, insisting her "groundless" claims damaged his reputation.
Valentine, who played Cousin Danny in James’ sitcom King of Queens, is demanding $500,000 (£333,000) from a former business associate after she told authorities he sexually assaulted her during a work meeting last year (10).
In a lawsuit filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court, the actor maintains his unnamed colleague brought out a bottle of wine and "initiated intimate contact" before performing "mutually consensual oral sex on him".
Valentine claims the woman later worried her boyfriend would discover their affair, so she went to cops to report sexual assault.
Her story was eventually "proved to be groundless", according to Valentine’s filing.
The star insists the matter has damaged his reputation, caused him emotional distress and cost him dearly in legal fees, reports TMZ.com.

CHER DEVASTATED BY OSCARS SNUB

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:17 pm

CHER is struggling to "understand" why her movie BURLESQUE missed out on an Academy Award nomination for Best Original Song.
The veteran singer/actress’ power ballad You Haven’t Seen the Last of Me earned songwriter Diane Warren a Golden Globe earlier this month (Jan11), but the track was left out of the Oscars shortlist when the nominations were announced on Tuesday (25Jan11).
Cher has since taken to her Twitter.com page to vent her frustration over the snub.
In a series of posts, she writes, "We didn’t get a nomination 4 best song! That sucks! Diane’s song is so beautiful! It’s hard to understand how u win the Golden Globe 4 Best Song & not even get nominated by the Oscars?" And despite topping Billboard’s Dance/Club Play Songs chart with the track, Cher worries Warren would have fared better with another vocalist.
Cher adds: "Maybe she would have had a better chance if someone else was singing it ?! It just can’t b her song."

MINAJ’S PROTECTIVE BROTHER BROUGHT PEACE TO TROUBLED CHILDHOOD

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 9:20 am

Rapper NICKI MINAJ credits her older brother with bringing her "peace" as a child - because he protected her from their brutal father while they were growing up.
The Your Love hitmaker has previously revealed she suffered a troubled upbringing as she witnessed her mum being beaten at the hands of her dad, who battled drug addiction.
However, Minaj does have some happy memories from her childhood - and they’re largely due to her sibling.
She tells Britain’s The Sun, "All of my young and teenage early years we lived in fear that my mother would be killed by my father. It was ridiculous. My father was violent - physically and verbally.
"Once my older brother grew up he became the man of the house and started standing up to my father. That was the only time we had peace in my home, when we knew there was another male figure in the house and he could protect us." But the star, whose parents are still together, admits she’s a better person because of her difficult early life: "It made me tough. Of course it did. I am an emotional person, but I am a tough person. It was very tough emotionally for me to have a parent who was an alcoholic and a drug addict. I had a mum with no money.
"I will cry about something but I never let anything stop me. I can’t be like my mum. I know I can cut ties and still make it."
