NEIL SENTENCED TO 15 DAYS IN JAIL FOR DUI CHARGE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:23 pm

Rocker VINCE NEIL will serve 15 days behind bars next month (Feb11) after pleading guilty to driving under the influence of alcohol.
The Motley Crue frontman initially pleaded not guilty to misdemeanour drink driving and speeding charges stemming from an arrest in Las Vegas in June (10).
He was accused of driving his luxury Lamborghini sports car 60 miles-per-hour (96.6 kilometres-per-hour) in a 45 mile-per-hour (72.4 kilometres-per-hour) zone near the Vegas Strip, while over the legal alcohol limit.
He failed three field sobriety tests and his blood-alcohol level was almost three times the legal limit.
The rocker entered a guilty plea during a hearing in Las Vegas on Wednesday morning (26Jan11) and he was sentenced to 15 days in jail. As part of a plea deal with the Clark County District Attorney, Neil will then serve 15 days under house arrest. He had faced up to six months in jail if convicted at trial.
Neil, 49, must also attend awareness lessons at a drink driving school and pay a $185 (£123) fine.
He will surrender to authorities at the Clark County Detention Center on 15 February (11), a week after his 50th birthday.
Neil was previously sentenced to 30 days in jail and five years probation in 1984 for his part in a car crash that claimed the life of Hanoi Rocks star Nicholas Dingley. He was driving under the influence at that time.

MOORE RULES OUT ROMANTIC COMEDIES

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:23 pm

MANDY MOORE has no plans to star in any more romantic comedies - because she’s convinced there is "nothing to learn" from making light-hearted movies.
The singer-turned-movie star wants to seek out more challenging scripts and establish herself as a serious actress after turns in films including A Walk To Remember and License to Wed.
She tells Digital Spy, "I’ve had fun doing romantic comedies but I just can’t anymore. There’s nothing fulfilling creatively, there’s nowhere to grow, nothing to learn from it or for yourself.
"I’d rather just be home with my family or write music until that special project comes my way." And Moore, who voiced Disney princess Rapunzel in animated family film Tangled, would love to sign up for a live-action musical.
She adds: "It was fun to dip my toe in the water (in Tangled), but I’d like to do the real thing on the big screen. That’d be so much fun."

MULLIGAN IS ‘NEVER’ RECOGNISED BY FANS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:20 pm

British actress CAREY MULLIGAN has retained her anonymity since shooting to fame - she has never been stopped in the street by a fan and is rarely recognised as a movie star.
The 25 year old won international acclaim with her role in 2009’s An Education, which garnered her a Oscar nomination.
She has gone on to star in movies such as Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps and Never Let Me Go with Keira Knightley, but Mulligan is adamant her box office success hasn’t changed her life.
She tells Britain’s Look magazine, "I don’t have to do anything! Hand on heart, I’ve never been stopped in the street by anyone. Ever. No one recognises me, which is great. My life hasn’t really changed. I don’t have to alter anything about my life, really." And Mulligan reveals she once went completely unrecognised at a film festival in Colorado by a group of people who had just watched her in a movie.
She adds, "I was sitting in a gondola at Telluride Film Festival with six people who had just watched Never Let Me Go. They were having a conversation about it and criticising it and I was sitting there and they had no idea."

DANCING WITH THE STARS’ BURKE REVEALS CHILD MOLESTATION

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:17 pm

Professional dancer and U.S. reality TV star CHERYL BURKE has opened up about the molestation horror she suffered as a child in a bid to help others who have struggled through similar experiences.
The Dancing With the Stars regular tells all in her new book, Dancing Lessons, revealing she was first assaulted at the age of five by a retired mailman in her neighbourhood in San Francisco, California.
The molestation continued for some time and it was only when he was accused of preying on other children that Burke’s own abuse was discovered, although the confused kid struggled to understand why his behaviour was so inappropriate.
He was arrested and put on trial and Burke was among the witnesses called to testify during the court proceedings, reports People magazine.
She writes in her book, "I felt guilty for wanting his love and affection. (Testifying) was the hardest thing I’ve ever done… I saw his face and lawyers were asking me these questions and I was like, ‘What am I doing? Did he even do anything wrong?’" He was convicted of the crimes and imprisoned, and it was only years later that Burke managed to come to terms with the seriousness of the situation.
And she’s been inspired to speak out about her child abuse to show others that they too can overcome the trauma.
She says, "I’m telling my story. They’re not secrets. There’s no shame… If I can help just one person, for me that’s all that matters."

WINFREY PLANNING TO BUILD RELATIONSHIP WITH SISTER

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:38 pm

OPRAH WINFREY is planning to spend 2011 getting to know her newly-discovered half-sister because she wants to be a permanent part of her life.
The TV titan introduced America to her half-sibling Patricia during a taping of her TV show, which aired on Monday (24Jan11), revealing her sister was secretly given up for adoption by their mother when Winfrey was nine years old.
They met for the first time back in November (10) and Winfrey wants to make sure they can grow close.
Speaking in an interview on her best friend Gayle King’s radio show, Winfrey says, "I look forward to building a relationship with her. Having been burned a lot of times in other relationships, I’m the kind of person that would like to take it slow, build a relationship upon mutual respect and understanding.
"I am open to having a sisterly relationship… I feel that I really do like her… I think we have… the common interest of our mother. Everybody who’s dealing with an ailing parent understands that process of getting care for them. And we’re speaking regularly about that… She, coming into the family at this time, has been a great peace offering, a great symbol of peace-making in this family. I would say I see her as a gift." Winfrey’s mother, Vernita Lee, is currently recovering from a stroke suffered late last year (10).

DIRECTOR PRAISES SKILLFUL ACTOR DOHERTY

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:35 pm

The director behind PETE DOHERTY’s upcoming acting debut has praised the British rocker’s "amazing skill" and dedication to the role.
The Babyshambles and Libertines musician is set to star alongside actress Charlotte Gainsbourg in French production Confession d’un Enfant du Siecle, based on the semi-autobiographical novel by 19th century writer Alfred de Musset.
Moviemaker Sylvie Verheyde is directing Doherty in the film, and she insists the troubled singer’s unreliable reputation has not been an issue on set.
She tells Q magazine, "He is a poet and a character… Octavian (Doherty’s character) and Peter have the same complexity and paradox - to us, it was just a little step to cross to find Peter… You don’t become an actor by going to classes…
"At our first meeting, he knew half the scenario of the book by heart. He has an amazing memory and his reliability is not even a question. It’s why Charlotte came on board. She is very picky about her projects. It’s just obvious that he has an amazing skill."

JACKMAN STUDIED BOXING WITH LEONARD FOR REAL STEEL

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:35 pm

HUGH JACKMAN had a world class boxing coach for upcoming movie REAL STEEL - he recruited former champion SUGAR RAY LEONARD to show him the ropes.
The Australian actor delved into the sport to play Charlie Kenton, a washed-up fighter who trains giant steel robots for underground competitions in the futuristic new film.
Jackman, whose father Chris was a boxer, managed to recruit retired legend Leonard to train him and when he wasn’t in the ring, the actor watched Sylvester Stallone in Rocky for inspiration.
He tells Britain’s Total Film, "My old man was a boxer, actually. He was an army champ. But once I knew about this film, I did some training with Sugar Ray Leonard and another less well-known fighter in New York…
"I went back and watched the original Rocky and you forget - there was only one 10-minute fight at the end. We always said we should be able to take out boxing and replace it with anything. The sport could be snail-racing. It’s irrelevant to how well-drawn this story and these characters are." Real Steel is slated for release later this year (11).
