HAWN: ‘I NEEDED THERAPY TO COPE WITH HOLLYWOOD SUCCESS’

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:20 pm

Hollywood success sent GOLDIE HAWN into therapy for nine years - because she felt like a prisoner of Tinseltown.
The actress had no plans to become a film star when she first came to Los Angeles to work as a dancer - but movie executives liked her look and her spirit and she was on the fast-track to superstardom before she had the chance to catch her breath.
And, in a revealing TV chat with talk show queen Oprah Winfrey on Wednesday (26Jan11), Hawn opened up about her miserable start in Hollywood, explaining, "My whole life was turned upside down… I didn’t wanna be a star… I wanted to dance and have fun and travel and go home and open a dancing school. I had my life planned.
"When that (movie success) happened, something happened to my brain; I lost my smile, I became really depressed, I had anxiety attacks, I had panic attacks… I would go into a place and I had to leave because I’d get dizzy and feel like I wanted to throw up." So the actress turned to therapy to help her cope with overnight fame: "I had to find my smile again… It was probably the hardest time I ever had because it wasn’t me and it wasn’t what I wanted to be."

CONTENTIOUS SIMPSON FITNESS VIDEO UNDER NEW OWNERSHIP

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:20 pm

A fitness video featuring JESSICA SIMPSON is set to go public, despite the pop star’s efforts to keep it off shelves.
The singer fronted the project for exercise company Speedfit, but she didn’t like the finished result and filed legal papers to keep the DVD from being sold.
But now a Hollywood producer has bought the rights to the video - and he’s challenging Simpson and her handlers to stop him from making it public.
In a defiant letter to Simpson’s lawyers, obtained by WENN, the new owner, Ed Meyer, writes, "After much due diligence, I have purchased rights to distribute the as yet unreleased Jessica Simpson Exercise Video from Speedfit.
"While your client Jessica Simpson believes that she has a valid New York court order preventing such a contract, she actually does not." Meyer insists his contract with Speedfit is "valid", and he has threatened Simpson with legal action if she insists on moving forward with "any tortuous interference or restraint of trade".
The producer plans to re-edit the fitness film, which was shot in 2005, and release it. Simpson won an arbitration ruling to keep the exercise video from being distributed – a huge hurdle for Meyer.
She also won a ruling barring Speedfit from using her name and likeness to promote the video.

The movie great admits he’s often perplexed when he approaches studios about roles he’d like to play - and executives are shocked he’s still interested in being in front of camera.
Redford, who has become a leading environmentalist, businessman and revered film director, tells ABC News, "I say, ‘Hey, I’d like to be (in that movie),’ and they say, ‘Would you? You’re kidding.’ "Something is happening over the years that makes a lot of people think that I don’t do this anymore, when the truth is, it’s what I enjoy most." Redford was actively considering a sequel to Butch Cassidy & The Sundance Kid before sidekick and pal Paul Newman passed away in 2008 and he has recently hinted he’s interested in revisiting classic romance The Way We Were with Barbra Streisand.

FRANCO TRAPPED BY MINI-FRIDGE IN TV SHOW SKIT

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:14 pm

JAMES FRANCO showed off the comedy skills he hopes will win over Oscars viewers during a skit on America’s THE DAILY SHOW on Tuesday night (25Jan11).
The actor pretended to be trapped by a mini-refrigerator in the show’s green room in a send-up of his hit film 127 Hours, in which he played a trapped adventurer who has to cut his arm off to free himself from a boulder in a remote Utah canyon.
Screaming with mock pain, the movie star, who will co-host the Academy Awards next month (Feb11), explained, "I was trying to get a fun-size Snickers bar out of the mini-fridge and it came down on me. I can’t get my arm out.
"I can’t move… I’m all alone in here, man; I’m gonna die. Nobody knows I’m here… No one’s gonna find me here. This is the end." The Daily Show host Jon Stewart continued with his show, but returned to Franco’s mock dilemma as the actor was considering cutting his arm off with a machete.
Stewart offered, "Have you tried, James Franco, lifting the fridge off of your arm; it is a mini-fridge?" The actor did just that and managed to free himself, smiling, "That was easy."

NELSON FELT ‘DISRESPECTED’ BY MODERN FAMILY MONEY OFFER

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:11 pm

Actor CRAIG T. NELSON has sensationally revealed he turned down the patriarch role on TV comedy MODERN FAMILY for a similar part in PARENTHOOD - because he was offered more money.
Producers for both shows wanted the veteran to lead their casts but Nelson went for the best deal, leaving Ed O’Neill to replace him on Modern Family.
Asked why he turned the show down during an appearance on news programme Access Hollywood Live on Wednesday (26Jan11), the honest actor said, "Money… I’m old enough to say it, I guess. I really wanted to do Modern Family and I really liked the script and I liked the people… but we’re in the middle of a cut back in Hollywood and salaries have gone way, way down and I just felt disrespected.
"I really like Parenthood because it’s building and it wasn’t a hit out of the box. For me, that ensemble… is so incredible. I love going to work… You have to get up early but… you get good food and you can take a little nap."

GRAMMER’S DIVORCE HEARING CONTINUED

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:11 pm

KELSEY GRAMMER’s February (11) marriage plans have taken a hit - a judge has continued his divorce battle with estranged wife CAMILLE.
The former Frasier star’s lawyer asked a judge to officially end his fourth marriage during a court hearing on Wednesday (26Jan11), so he could press ahead with plans to wed fiancee Kayte Walsh in February (11).
Reality TV star Camille opposed the bid, urging the judge to deny the actor’s request to dissolve their legal marital status while they continued to fight over finances.
Her lawyer, Neal Hersh, argued the actor had not met all of his wife’s conditions to land the quickie divorce, because he refused to put up a $10 million (£6.6 million) bond to ensure both sides remain open and honest as they negotiate a split settlement - the only outstanding request.
Camille wants Grammer to post the bond to protect her rights to his pension, which is estimated at between $5 million (£3.3 million) and $10 million (£6.6 million), in case Walsh attempts to claim all proceeds for herself in the event of the actor’s death.
The judge decided to carry the matter over until their next hearing on 7 February (11), reports TMZ.com.

WEINSTEIN & HOOPER IN TALKS TO CUT ‘F’ WORD OUT OF THE KING’S SPEECH

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:11 pm

Movie mogul HARVEY WEINSTEIN is urging THE KING’S SPEECH director TOM HOOPER to return to the editing room and cut the ‘F’ word from his hit film - so the Oscar favourite can become a family favourite.
Weinstein is keen to boost the film’s box office following its 12 Oscar nominations on Tuesday (25Jan11) - and he’s asked Hooper to consider cutting the profanity that earned the period drama an ‘R’ rating in the U.S.
The producer is keen to re-release the film to cinemas with the language in one scene toned down - as part of a new marketing strategy he hopes will prompt young cinemagoers to see the movie, starring Colin Firth as stuttering British monarch King George VI.
Weinstein, whose studio the Weinstein Company released the film, has revealed he is in talks with the director about re-editing the film to attain a possible ‘PG’ rating.
He tells the Los Angeles Times, "The British numbers are huge because the rating lets families see the movie together. Tom and I are trying to find a unique way to do this that keeps his vision of the movie." Ironically, Weinstein made waves late last year (10) when he contested film censors at the Motion Picture Association of America’s Classification and Rating Administration’s decision to give his film Blue Valentine a restrictive NC17 rating because of an oral sex scene.
The censors agreed to release the movie with an R rating after Weinstein’s challenge.
The movie mogul unsuccessfully appealed the MPAA in November (10) to lower the R rating given to The King’s Speech without any changes to the film.

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:26 pm

TAYLOR MOMSEN has opened up about working with MADONNA on her Material Girl clothing range, revealing she was a "bad influence" on the singer’s daughter LOURDES.
The Gossip Girl star became pals with the 14 year old when she signed on as the face of the label last year (10).
In an interview with British magazine Grazia, the singer/actress is asked whether she felt her provocative persona had an impact on the youngster, and she replies, "I probably am a bad influence." Momsen, 17, also admits she worries about younger girls trying to copy her controversial image.
She adds, "The other day, this reporter brought his 12-year-old daughter to an interview. She was looking at me open-mouthed, like: ‘I want stripper shoes, Daddy!’ He hated me! But I’m not saying, ‘Be like me.’ I hope girls read what I say in interviews - they should just be themselves.
"They wouldn’t want to be like me. I’m crazy. I’m f**king out of my mind. I’ve been told I was out of my mind since I was 11."
