SHEARS BACKING CAMPAIGN TO GET SCISSOR SISTERS ON GLEE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 9:29 am

JAKE SHEARS has applauded SCISSOR SISTERS fans for starting an online campaign to hook the band a cameo appearance on GLEE - because he’d love to be a part of the hit show.
Actor Chris Colfer, who plays gay student Kurt on the series, recently revealed he’d love to see the Filthy/Gorgeous hitmakers on the programme and Shears admits he’s keen to follow in the footsteps of Britney Spears by landing a role.
Shears is hoping his friendship with Colfer and a Facebook group with 5,000 members campaigning for the cameo will result in show boss Ryan Murphy handing the Scissor Sisters an appearance.
In a post on the band’s Facebook page, he writes, "This campaign to get us on GLEE is awesome, we’re very appreciative to the fans & we love the show! We’ve been into it since it first aired, and then met Chris & some of the Glee cast.
"Chris comes to our shows & feels a real connection with the band & I think he sees a proper fit between Glee’s aesthetic & a lot of our music. I know this would be a blast for the band, fingers crossed!"

RAZORLIGHT UNVEIL NEW MEMBERS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 9:29 am

British rockers RAZORLIGHT have unveiled their new line-up, after two founding members quit the band last year (10).
Guitarist Bjorn Agren and bass player Carl Dalemo left the group when recording sessions for a new album proved "unproductive".
The band has been hunting for two new members to replace them - and they’ve revealed the identity of the musicians in a post on their Facebook page.
The message reads, "We can officially confirm that founder members Bjorn Agren and Carl Dalemo agreed on an amicable parting following unproductive early recording sessions for a new album late last year…
"Gus Robertson (Mick Jones) comes in as guitarist and Freddie Stitz (Smokey Angle Shades) joins the band on bass. Skully, who took over when Andy Burrows left in 2008, continues as Razorlight’s drummer." The changes make lead singer Johnny Borrell the last remaining original member of the band. The new line-up will play its first gig in Britain together on 3 April (11) in Edinburgh, Scotland.

COPS CALLED OVER STEVENS FLIGHT DISPUTE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 9:26 am

One-time INXS frontman JON STEVENS has launched a scathing attack on airline bosses after he was ejected from a flight in Australia on Wednesday (26Jan11).
The New Zealand-born rocker was onboard a Jetstar plane preparing to fly from Perth to Brisbane when he became embroiled in a dispute with staff over seating arrangements after switching chairs.
A representative for Stevens claims, "The steward requested that he move back to his allocated seat, a directive that Stevens initially queried, but complied when told that it was airline policy." The plane subsequently returned to the terminal and cops were called to attend the scene, Stevens was then ordered to disembark from the flight - and he’s fuming over the incident.
The star has released a statement taking aim at Jetstar chiefs, insisting he did nothing wrong.
Stevens says, "In all my years of extensive travelling around the world and within Australia, I have never been treated like this.
"I did not raise my voice at any stage, did not use offensive language and I would certainly suggest that I was not behaving in a dangerous or offensive manner. I couldn’t believe it was happening." A spokesperson for Jetstar tells the AAP, "A decision was taken that he was unable to fly. We have strict safety guidelines and this includes passengers following instructions of our crew. Our cabin crew were not confident about his willingness to follow instructions and it was also due to the fact of his disruptive behaviour."

ADELE READY TO RECONCILE WITH ESTRANGED FATHER

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 9:26 am

British singer ADELE is keen to reconcile with her estranged father after more than 10 years of no contact.
The Chasing Pavements star’s dad walked out on her mother when Adele was just a baby and he had little presence in her childhood.
The 21 year old reveals she last saw her dad at her grandmother’s funeral as a teenager - but now she’s finally ready to get to know him better.
She tells Britain’s Q magazine, "I’d cut off contact with him when I was 10 or 11… It’s just disappointing when your own blood can’t keep promises.
"I always felt like I needed him to have something to compare to in other relationships with men. I didn’t know what a dad was supposed to do because I’d never had one. I’m sure I’ll see him again, because now I think we could be friends. I don’t need him to be a dad now." However, Adele admits not having her biological father around while she was growing up made her realise how much she values her mother: "I’m much more appreciative of her. You don’t realise how important your parents are until they’re gone or you spend a long time away from them. She’s the one solid and permanent thing in my life."

The 64-year-old Margaritaville singer was performing at the Hordern Pavilion in Sydney on Wednesday (26Jan11) when he took a nasty tumble during the show finale.
Buffett, who sustained a severe cut to his head, was placed on a gurney and taken to the city’s St. Vincent’s Hospital, where he received several stitches for the gash.
A medical centre spokesperson confirmed he was in a stable condition four hours after he was admitted, and Buffett was ruled well enough to be discharged on Thursday.

KARDASHIAN’S ANNUAL CHARITY DONATIONS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 9:23 am

Socialite KIM KARDASHIAN has revealed her generous side - she donates a portion of her income to charity every year.
The Keeping Up With The Kardashians star is well known for her extravagant purchases, recently revealing she spent $115,000 (£76,000) on a designer watch.
But Kardashian insists she always gives away 10 per cent of her earnings - and is committed to helping her mother, Kris Jenner, fund a church initiative in Calabasas, California.
Speaking on Piers Morgan’s CNN talk show, she says, "Whatever it is, I give 10 per cent away to the church and that’s what I was taught. Every year. Absolutely.
"There’s a charity that I work with a lot that I donate money (to) all the time - the Dream Foundation - and my mom has helped create a church, so we help fund that. It’s in Calabasas." The brunette beauty also reveals she’s regularly asked to help out organisations financially - but she’s picky about which ones she supports.
Kardashian adds, "As long as we give back and help out any organisation that is close to our hearts. It’s not just (about) giving away, it’s about finding something that you really connect with. So many people ask us to donate money here and there and some things just don’t make sense to me, and I don’t feel connected or passionate about that certain thing. So when I find something it makes it so much more meaningful." The full interview will air in the U.S. on Thursday (27Jan11).

MARKETING COSTS DROVE SMITH TO SELF-DISTRIBUTE RED STATE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 9:23 am

Moviemaker KEVIN SMITH has explained his decision to self-distribute his new film RED STATE - he’s sick of massive marketing costs in Hollywood.
The director premiered the horror movie at the Sundance Film Festival in Utah on Sunday (23Jan11) and revealed he would be releasing the $4 million (£2.7 million) picture through his newly-formed Smodcast Pictures company.
Smith has now taken to his Twitter.com page to explain to fans why he’s taken the unusual route of shunning Hollywood distributors - insisting he doesn’t want to be forced to spend millions on dollars on marketing the movie.
In a series of posts, he writes, "I’m gonna release my movie without spending $20 million. I wasn’t like ‘Burn in hell! You’re all wrong!’ I said it’s stupid for a $4 million movie to have to spend $20 million to open in theatres, and it is for this movie. So we’ll just do it ourselves.
"Even my friends in marketing aren’t mad at me for saying the obvious: marketing costs are f**king ridiculous. But rather than b**ch about marketing costs, I’m trying to do something about it for my flick.
"Our whole thing isn’t about making lots of money (although, we’re definitely into that too); it’s about not spending lots of money. I’m being anti-wasteful not anti-’H'wood’ - and there’s not a business in the world that’d frown on savings."

ELTON’S FAMILY PHOTO CENSORED IN ARKANSAS STORE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 2:53 am

SIR ELTON JOHN’s touching family portrait on the cover of America’s Us Weekly magazine has been covered up with a "Family Shield" by one retailer in Arkansas in a bid to "protect" shoppers.
The rocker and his life partner David Furnish showed off their newborn son Zachary on the cover of last week’s (begs17Jan11) Us Weekly - but the happy snap has proved too shocking for homophobes in Mountain Home.
Local resident Jennifer Huddleston came across the censored edition of the publication in a Harps grocery store, and she was so surprised to see the magazine with a protective plastic shield, she snapped a photo and posted it on her Twitter.com blog.
The picture has sparked controversy across the blogosphere and prompted representatives from the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation to investigate.
According to a company spokesperson, Harps bosses reacted in response to "several" customer complaints at that particular store, although the rep insisted the move was "in no way our opinion on this issue", adding, "We do not have an opinion on this issue."

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 2:50 am

JENNIFER LOPEZ has revealed her twins may have saved her marriage to MARC ANTHONY - because it made her realise that a third divorce was not an option.
In a candid new interview with In Touch magazine, the singer/actress confesses she and Anthony weren’t always as happy as they seemed before they became parents to Max and Emme.
She tells the publication, "The kids made Marc and I stronger… There have been tough times.
"Having kids made us both see that there’s a bigger picture. We still fight but we know that at the end of the day, we have these amazing children that need us. We promised each other never to go to bed angry." Lopez also credits her kids with helping to bring her out of a depression, sparked by overwork.
The star admits she suffered a "kind of" breakdown on the set of flop 2002 film Enough and didn’t fully recover until the twins were born in 2008.
She recalls, "I was like, ‘I don’t want to talk, I don’t want to do anything’. My kids saved me." But Lopez suffered a new low 10 days after the babies were born, and turned to her husband to help her through it.
She adds, "I couldn’t get up fast enough to feed the babies and Marc was helping out a lot, and I was crying and crying, and going, ‘Oh, Papi, they’re going to know everybody more than me.’"

FOLLOWILL APOLOGISES FOR GLEE RANT

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 2:44 am

KINGS OF LEON rocker NATHAN FOLLOWILL has apologised for lashing out at GLEE’s RYAN MURPHY after the writer/director accused him of homophobia during an ongoing spat about music licensing for the show.
The band angered Murphy last year (10) when they declined producers’ requests to allow them to feature the hit Use Somebody on the show.
Murphy recently admitted he’s still sore about the snub, telling The Hollywood Reporter, "F**k you, Kings of Leon. They’re self-centred a**holes, and they missed the big picture.
"They missed that a seven-year-old kid can see someone close to their age singing a Kings of Leon song, which will maybe make them want to join a glee club or pick up a musical instrument." Kings of Leon frontman Caleb Followill tried to put an end to the Glee war, insisting it had spiralled out of control - but his brother Nathan fuelled the feud further with a rant on Twitter.com on Wednesday (26Jan11).
In a post, he wrote, "Dear Ryan Murphy, let it go. See a therapist, get a manicure, buy a new bra. Zip your lip and focus on educating 7 yr olds how to say f**k." Murphy refused to tolerate the rant, telling PerezHilton.com, "Just read Nathan Followill’s Tweet…in which he implied I should ‘get a manicure and buy a bra.’ Wow. That’s a homophobe badly in need of some education. I’m all for manicures, don’t wear a bra. Would guess most gay dudes don’t. But it’s telling that Nathan can reduce a group of people to a mean-spirited cliche, in a time where young gay men are killing themselves all over the country because of hatred like this." Followill has since apologised for his remarks in another Twitter post.
He added, "I’m sorry 4 anyone that misconstrued my comments as homophobic or mysoginistic. I’m so not that kind of person. I really do apologize."

SHEKONI PENS ACTING SELF-HELP GUIDE TO WORKING IN THE U.S.

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 2:41 am

New TWILIGHT star JUDI SHEKONI has turned her hell of struggling to find work as an actress in Hollywood into a new self-help guide for wannabe British movie stars.
The one-time soap star, who will play vampire Zafrina in the new Twilight Breaking Dawn movies, is the brains behind The Film & Television Guide to Working in America.
The actress reveals she learned the hard way - and squandered her savings on visas, hustlers and expensive advisers - and now she wants to help other Brits dreaming of success in Hollywood and New York avoid the nightmare she went through.
The former EastEnders star tells WENN, "I didn’t realise you needed a work permit to work. I didn’t know nothing (sic) and so basically I just spent my money trying to figure out what to do… There are so many mistakes that you make and there are so many things people don’t tell you.
"I thought it would be of great service to put this information down in a book so that someone could spend three hours reading it and get all that information, rather than it taking them three years and costing them their savings." The book started life as a pamphlet Shekoni would offer to friends who wanted to work as an actor or actress in the U.S. and she began to realise she had a lot to offer.
She adds, "There’s also so much choice in Los Angeles - you want an acting teacher, there are 10,000 acting teachers, there are 20,000 photographers. There are so many of everything and there’s everything from hustlers who are just taking your money to people who are at the top of their craft.
"By writing the book out and publishing the book it made me feel better about some of the experiences I’ve had here."
