BRANDY HAS ‘OFFENSIVE’ TATTOO MODIFIED

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:17 pm

Singer BRANDY was back in the tattoo parlour this week (begs24Jan11) to modify her "phallic"-looking skin art.
The R&B singer had an image of Hindu deity Lord Ganesh inked on the inside of her wrist last month (Dec10) and she showed it off by posting a picture on Twitter.com, prompting fans to point out the elephant-headed god’s trunk resembled male genitalia.
Brandy agreed to alter the piece and her tattoo artist has now added a floral design over the trunk.
The artist, Peter Koskela, tells TMZ.com, "I wanted to fix the offending tip… remove the whole phallic aspect. I told her I’d just swing it upwards." In Hinduism, Lord Ganesh is worshipped as god of wisdom and remover of obstacles.

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:14 pm

Rocker CISCO ADLER was forced to DJ with just one hand at a Sundance Film Festival party earlier this week (beg23Jan11) after injuring his shoulder snowboarding.
The former Whitestarr frontman was set to play a set at actor Danny Masterson’s Downstairs Bar in Park City, Utah, but he took a nasty fall on the slopes before the show and separated his shoulder.
In a post on his Twitter.com page on Monday (23Jan11), Adler wrote, "Seperated (sic) clavicle… shredding (snowboarding) over." But he didn’t let his injury stop him from DJing at Masterson’s event - he turned up with his arm in a sling and used his one good hand to take to the decks.
A source tells the New York Daily News, "He was getting a ton of attention and sympathy from everyone because of his sling."

BUFFETT TREATED BY SURGEON GIG-GOER

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:14 pm

JIMMY BUFFETT was lucky enough to have a top surgeon in the audience at the show where he was injured in a dramatic stage fall - the doctor rushed to his aid and treated him until paramedics arrived.
The veteran singer-songwriter stunned the crowd at the Hordern Pavilion in Sydney, Australia on Wednesday (26Jan11) when he took a nasty tumble during the show finale and plummeted off the stage.
Sydney surgeon Gordian Fulde was in the audience and after witnessing the fall, he went straight to help the star.
Fulde admits he feared the worst, and was relieved to find the musician had escaped more serious injury.
He says, "It was like everybody was standing, and then I obviously responded… He walked off the stage… He just didn’t see the stage ended because there was a gap where the crowd was on the fence, and he just went down and crumbled down in that space and his head hit a metal ledge, and you could hear the thump, and he was deeply unconscious.
"He is so lucky, I thought when it happened he would even be a paraplegic or worse. We did all the head scans and neck scans and fortunately there’s no damage… Cause that’s the worry, you don’t know when somebody’s unconscious. We’ve observed him through the night, he hasn’t had much sleep so he’s very tired, but, we’re glad to say that he’ll be OK." The 64-year-old Margaritaville singer was treated for a head wound and discharged from hospital on Thursday (27Jan11).

MTV ‘STANDS BY’ SKINS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:11 pm

MTV bosses have dismissed speculation they are set to pull controversial teen drama SKINS off-air following protests from a campaign group and the loss of a number of advertisers.
The U.S. adaptation of the hit British series premiered in America last week (17Jan11), but the scandalous storylines involving sex and drugs have angered heads of the Parents Television Council, who condemned the show and called for an official investigation.
The controversy has also led to a number of high profile advertisers pulling their promos from the programme’s ad breaks, leading to speculation MTV bosses plan to scrap the show after just two episodes on-air.
But network bosses are adamant they will continue to broadcast the series, despite the fall out.
An MTV spokeswoman tells Reuters, "The show is not cancelled. The next episode is going ahead on Monday." A statement from the network adds, "MTV stands by the US adaptation of Skins and the vision of its creator, Bryan Elsley."

LARSSON’S BROTHER MOVES TO END FAMILY FEUD

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:08 pm

The brother of acclaimed Swedish author STIEG LARSSON has reached out to the late novelist’s long term partner in a bid to end a bitter family feud which has threatened to tarnish the author’s legacy.
Larsson created the bestselling Millennium trilogy, which has been turned into a popular Swedish film series and is about to make a Hollywood cross-over with Daniel Craig and Rooney Mara taking the lead roles in The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo.
Eva Gabrielsson, Larsson’s partner of more than three decades, has been locked in a dispute with the writer’s father and brother over his estate since his death in 2004.
Gabrielsson insists she is not interested in the profits from the books and movies - she just wants to be granted the rights to Larsson’s work so she can complete his final, unfinished novel.
She has documented her legal struggle in new memoir, Millennium, Stieg and Me, and the book has prompted Larsson’s brother, Joakim, to speak out and he’s now urging Gabrielsson to get in contact so they can resolve their issues face-to-face.
He tells the AFP, "So many falsehoods and misleading statements have been repeated in book form, I would like to present my picture in greater detail. For some time now, Eva Gabrielsson has spread a distorted picture of Stieg Larsson. No single person can have a monopoly on the picture of Stieg Larsson and his life… There are lots of things which aren’t true in that book. We only want to say what the truth is and say ‘this and this is not true’ and then we can put an end on this story between us and her and move on.
"We have no intention to use the money in any other way than as Stieg intended… (Gabrielsson) is part of my family still and she’s always been a part of my family… I don’t want to speculate in what will happen (with the unfinished book). But I hope she calls me."

SOMERS LAWSUIT DISMISSED

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:08 pm

A lawsuit targeting actress SUZANNE SOMERS over a failed business venture has been thrown out by a judge due to insufficient evidence.
The Three’s Company star was sued by her former financial backer John Bouchillon, who claimed he poured $400,000 ($267,000) into a meal-preparation business called Suzanne’s Kitchen, which opened in Kentucky in 2006 and closed a few months later.
The firm is said to have folded after a number of disagreements between partners, prompting Bouchillon to take legal action against Somers in 2008 in a bid to get his investment back.
The actress testified on Wednesday (26Jan11) that her name and likeness were used to promote the business, but it was run by former Kentucky Governor John Y. Brown. The politician was dropped as a defendant before the trial.
Fayette County Circuit Judge James Ishmael decided on Wednesday (26Jan11) there was not enough evidence for a jury to consider a verdict and dismissed the suit, according to the Lexington Herald-Leader.
Somers tells the publication, "It’s great to be vindicated. I knew I had done nothing wrong. I know the judge put a lot of thought into his decision; it was a long time to sit."

FERNANDEZ RELIEVED HE WAS SNUBBED FOR TWILIGHT

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 9:38 am

Actor SHILOH FERNANDEZ is pleased he missed out on landing the lead in the TWILIGHT movies - because he’s convinced he would not be "mentally stable enough" to deal with the attention ROBERT PATTINSON receives.
The star auditioned for the role of vampire Edward Cullen, but the part went to the British actor, who has since gained a massive cult following.
Fernandez admits he would have struggled to cope with overnight fame, but he’s grateful for the opportunities he’s received since he was turned down for Twilight.
He tells Vman magazine, "No one had any idea what Twilight would become. At the time, it was just another audition. I didn’t realise I was missing out on stardom and giant pay cheques.
"Now, looking back on it, I certainly wouldn’t have been mentally stable enough to deal with all that. Lucky for me, not getting that part led to other work that was a much better fit for me." Fernandez stars in upcoming movie Red Riding Hood, which is directed by Catherine Hardwicke - who oversaw the first Twilight movie.

JENNIFER ANISTON’s publicist has shot down tabloid reports suggesting the actress has adopted a child.
The former Friends star has been candid about her hopes of becoming a mum one day in recent interviews, but her aide insists the new stories about her adopting a kid from a Mexican orphanage she visits are false.
The rep tells People.com, "Jennifer is not adopting a baby from Mexico, nor does she have a nursery in her home and she has not hired a nanny. It is all a work of fiction." Aniston denied the same rumours back in 2009 after she was spotted visiting the Casa Hogar Sion orphanage in Tijuana, Mexico.

WITHERSPOON: ‘ELEPHANT TRAINING WAS CAREER HIGHLIGHT’

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 9:35 am

REESE WITHERSPOON developed a deep bond with the elephant featured in her new movie WATER FOR ELEPHANTS after spending three months training with the giant creature.
The actress plays a circus performer who must learn a routine with the elephant, and, to prepare for the role, she spent weeks climbing onto the beast.
And Witherspoon insists the experience was unforgettable.
She tells Britain’s Total Film magazine, "It was one of the best experiences of my career. I worked with her for three months, just training. I had to get in shape - I had no harnesses, no safety equipment, nothing. It was literally just me and the elephant and I had to climb onto her.
"She’s 10 feet tall and over 9,000 pounds and it was this exercise in trust. It’s a really beautiful thing where you learn to communicate with a creature non-verbally." And Witherspoon admits she’s delighted the take second billing to the animal: "She’s the big star of the movie."

WORRALL’S MODEL LOVER COMES FORWARD WITH HER SIDE OF OSBOURNE BREAK-UP STORY

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 9:32 am

A transgender model has come forward with sensational claims that she’s the person responsible for KELLY OSBOURNE’s heartbreaking split from rocker fiance LUKE WORRALL.
Ozzy Osbourne’s TV star daughter ended her engagement to Worrall after learning of his cheating ways - but neither spoke of the woman who came between them.
Now, model Elle Schneider has revealed she’s the ‘other woman’ and the 21 year old has sensationally revealed she was born Reynaldo Gonzalez, and is currently awaiting gender reassignment surgery.
Schneider tells UsMagazine.com she had no idea Worrall was engaged when the rocker approached her in a New York club in 2009 - and he wasn’t turned off by her past.
Schneider claims Worrall spent the night with her at the Four Seasons Hotel, and was "turned on" by the fact his date was in the process of becoming 100 per cent woman.
She tells the website, "He knew instantaneously when he met me that night… He was definitely not turned off by it at any point. In fact, he was turned on. He made it very obvious." Schneider explains she lost touch with Worrall after their New York rendezvous, but he reached out to her via Twitter.com at the end of last year (10), when his romance with Osbourne was over.
The model tells UsMagazine.com she then reunited with the rock star in London in December, not knowing he was attempting to reconcile with his ex-fiancee.
Osbourne found out about the fling when she discovered text messages between her ex and the model.
Schneider says, "Immediately he told her that I was just a friend… but I guess she saw right through it. It was quite obvious through the messages that he was sending me that that was lie." Osbourne then reached out to Schneider via Facebook.com: "She let me know that he had broken her heart once again because he basically cheated on her with me. They were not officially broken up; she just couldn’t believe he had done this to her again."

HOLMES ‘UPSET’ BY SUNDANCE FILM WALKOUT REPORTS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 9:29 am

KATIE HOLMES was "upset" by reports Hollywood executives walked out of a preview for her new movie THE SON OF NO ONE - because a technical error caused the early exits, according to the film’s producer.
The actress stars alongside Al Pacino, Channing Tatum and Ray Liotta in the gritty crime drama, which was debuted at the Sundance Film Festival in Utah on Monday (24Jan11).
Reports suggested the picture received a lukewarm response from the audience and "a stream" of movie studio bosses walked out before the credits rolled.
Producer Cassian Elwes, brother of actor Cary Elwes, has now spoken out to clarify the story, insisting a few filmgoers left early when a projectionist mistakenly turned on the lights two scenes before the end of the movie.
And he also reveals Holmes was upset to read reports of a snub.
Elwes tells UsMagazine.com, "There wasn’t a mass exodus. The people who did see it, liked the film. (Holmes) loves the film and she’s great in it. She’s very upset by this attack." The film has also received numerous offers from movie distributors since the screening, according to Elwes: "We’ve already received three offers on the film. We’re 100 per cent behind her and the entire cast’s performances in this film." The movie, about a young cop with a dark secret, has been picked to close the festival on Friday (28Jan11).
