BOLLYWOOD STAR KAIF ‘DISTURBED’ BY TAX RAID

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:05 pm

Bollywood actress KATRINA KAIF has slammed reports she is under investigation for tax evasion, insisting she is "disturbed" by the accusations.
The Indian star hit the headlines earlier this week (begs24Jan11) after representatives for the country’s tax authorities confirmed officials had raided the offices and homes of Kaif and her peer Priyanka Chopra, in addition to a number of other top Bollywood names.
Tax department director-general D.P. Gaur confirmed on Monday (24Jan11) that properties belonging to the actresses were "being searched and whatever materials are procured will be recorded for further action", but refused to go into further detail.
However, a "disturbed" Kaif has hit out at the claims and she is adamant all her tax payments are up-to-date.
A statement issued by her accountants adds: "Katrina is fully co-operating with the (tax) department, whom she holds in high regard." Kaif is said to earn $670,000 (£446,670) per film.

JACKSON HAND AND SIGNATURE IMPRINT UP FOR AUCTION

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:32 pm

A concrete slab marked with an imprint of MICHAEL JACKSON’s hands, feet and signature is to go up for auction.
The late King of Pop made the impression back in 1984 for a Las Vegas Walk of Fame project which never came to fruition.
The 375 pound (170 kilogram) cement block, which has been dubbed the ‘Broken Heart Stone’ because of a crack running through a heart shape on Jackson’s left palm print, was discovered in the basement of the Riviera Hotel in 2006.
It was then raffled off to a guest, who sold it on to the current owner in 2009.
The stone is set to go under the hammer in Los Angeles next month (Feb11) at Nate D. Sanders. The auctioneers hope to sell it for more than $100,000 (£66,667).

SIR ELTON DEFENDS RAP

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:32 pm

SIR ELTON JOHN is urging music fans not to "ridicule" rappers, insisting stars such as KANYE WEST and EMINEM are "a phenomenon".
The Rocket Man, who collaborated with West for a track on the hip-hop star’s latest album, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, is passionate about all kinds of music and he’s urging non-rap fans to get acquainted with the genre.
The 63 year old tells TeenMusic.com, "I never dismiss any form of music. I listen to everything. I’m on the new Kanye West record, for example. It’s a genius record. I was on the Alice in Chains record…
"People who mock rap, and say, ‘I don’t like it,’ they should go check out Kanye in the studio rapping. Or Eminem when he’s in the studio. It’s a phenomenon. Don’t knock it until you’ve seen it. It may not be your cup of tea (to your taste), but don’t ridicule. I find that so many of my peers of my age don’t listen to anything new. I love the new."

HUDSON EXCITED ABOUT PREGNANCY, NOT ENGAGED

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:32 pm

KATE HUDSON has spoken for the first time about her excitement over her pregnancy and dismissed rumours she’s engaged to marry her rock star boyfriend MATT BELLAMY.
The baby news surfaced earlier this month (Jan11) and was later confirmed by Hudson’s mother Goldie Hawn, who told of her joy at the prospect of becoming a grandmother again.
Hudson has now opened up about her personal life in a new interview on Britain’s The Graham Norton Show, revealing she’s convinced she’s expecting a daughter and is already discussing possible names with the Muse rocker.
The actress says, "I’m just starting to pop. We have a couple of names but we’re not telling anyone. People tell you so much (about being pregnant) it drives me nuts. It feels like a girl, but I don’t know. (My son) Ryder thinks it’s a girl." And when asked whether the happy couple will be walking down the aisle, Hudson dismissed rumours of an engagement - insisting she is not planning to get married again following her 2007 divorce from Chris Robinson, the father of her four-year-old son Ryder.
She says, "No, no, not that I know of! I don’t like putting that sort of pressure on it and I don’t feel it necessary to get married. I am 31, I already have one child and have had one divorce so it is not necessarily the golden ticket. I just want to be happy." The full interview airs in the U.K. on Friday (28Jan11).

WILLIAMS CONQUERS FEAR OF FLYING

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:29 pm

Blues star LUCINDA WILLIAMS has finally overcome her fear of flying after realising she was sacrificing her career by refusing to tour.
The 58-year-old singer was once too terrified to step foot on a plane, and her paralysing phobia kept her from travelling abroad to perform.
She tells Britain’s Uncut magazine, "I really did have a fear of flying for a long time. I slowly developed it in my thirties and it got worse and worse. I eventually thought, ‘If I refuse to get on a plane, my career will be over.’" The Passionate Kisses hitmaker now credits her husband and manager Tom Overby - as well as powerful anti-anxiety medication - with calming her down in the air.
She adds, "I got some medicine from my doctor to help me relax, an anti-anxiety drug called Ativan. That was my little security blanket. It just kept me from jumping up and freaking out. And I kind of sorted it out.
"When I met Tom, he flew all the time, from being a record executive guy at Universal. So I had a friend to fly with me. Each time it got a little better. It also helps flying first class! You can have a meal, have a drink, take some Ativan, crash out, wake up and you’re there. I thought, ‘I can do this!’"

ALLMAN OPENS UP ABOUT FAMILY TRAGEDY

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:29 pm

Rocker GREGG ALLMAN has opened about a tragic family secret - his eldest brother died at birth.
The singer, who was married to Cher in the 1970s, rose to fame with The Allman Brothers Band with his older sibling Duane.
Allman has now revealed he had another brother who died as a baby, and he wishes his lost sibling had survived to complete the family group.
When he was asked by MOJO magazine to tell the interviewer something he’s "never told" a reporter before, Allman replied, "There would have been three brothers. My oldest brother, two years older than Duane, didn’t make it at birth. That was a whole band, man! He’d have had to have been a drummer." Duane Allman passed away in a motorcycle accident in 1971, aged 24, just two years after the group formed.

GRANT REVEALS HIV HORROR

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:29 pm

Gay singer/songwriter JOHN GRANT unwittingly slept with a man infected with HIV at the height of his drug addiction, revealing he played "Russian roulette" with his life.
The former The Czars frontman endured a long battle with drink and drugs before finally kicking his addictions in 2004.
Grant has now opened up about the hellish few years that inspired his 2010 solo album Queen of Denmark, which was recorded in collaboration with rock band Midlake.
And the rocker admits he lost control once he became addicted to cocaine.
He tells Britain’s Q magazine, "As soon as I had cocaine I wanted to have nasty, unprotected sex with a weirdo in an alley while smoking crack. Cocaine made me want to do anything and everything - go as far down as possible and never come back.
"I was sickeningly morose and sentimental - talking about the death of your mother with people you just met who don’t care about you and just want to f**k you without a condom. I slept with someone on occasion who had full-blown AIDS and lied to me about it. And I just didn’t get it… Russian roulette."

GELDOF: ‘MARINE IS THE LOVE OF MY LIFE’

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:26 pm

BOB GELDOF has hailed his partner JEANNE MARINE as his saviour after she rescued him from periods of "dark" desperation and revived his "non-existent heart".
The Boomtown Rats frontman was thrown into a downward spiral after his ex-wife Paula Yates died from a drugs overdose in 2000, but he credits French actress Marine with bringing him back from the brink.
He tells Britain’s Uncut magazine, "She’s the love of my life, she’s amazing. She saved me, without any question. Things were very touch and go in the Geldof heart - the apparently non-existent heart. There’d been long, long dark nights of the soul." And the rocker admits his lover even inspired him to make his latest album, How To Compose Popular Songs That Will Sell, more romantic: "There’s a clear understanding on the new record, finally, that, ‘I’m in love with you tonight.’ It’s been the best decade, until this year, because demons have been long laid to rest. And then you approach the autumn, and I’m certainly in that. Now, maybe I can write love songs."

CHIPMUNK DEFIED ADVICE TO RECORD BROWN SINGLE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:26 pm

British rapper CHIPMUNK defied his advisers to record a single with CHRIS BROWN, after he was told not to work with the troubled star.
Brown hit headlines for the wrong reasons back in 2009 following a vicious attack on his then-girlfriend Rihanna, which left him with an assault conviction.
The Kiss Kiss hitmaker’s career suffered a major slump in the wake of the scandal, but Chipmunk insists he didn’t let the past tarnish their new collaboration, Champion.
He says, "Chris has had a difficult time and he’s literally had to start again, accept his wrongs and apologise - and continuously apologise - to get himself back to the point where he is now. Every man makes mistakes, and it takes a real man to learn from them.
"A lot of people did try to persuade me not to do the track. But knowing where I’m at and what I stand for in this country, there was nothing that was going to stop me.
"People were saying radio won’t play it, TV won’t play it. I said, ‘You know what man? I’m doing it’. I’m going to stand next to this dude and say, ‘I want to work with Chris Brown’. " The single, Champion, is due for release next month (Feb11).

RILEY TRIED TO SNEAK ‘CURTIS DANCE’ INTO ON THE ROAD

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:23 pm

British actor SAM RILEY is desperate to see the final cut of his new movie ON THE ROAD to find out whether he has won a bet to sneak his famous IAN CURTIS dance moves into a scene.
The 31 year old played the Joy Division singer in 2007 movie Control, and he learned to mimic the late star’s unique dance style for the part.
Riley is constantly asked to show off his moves, and when a crew member working on On The Road challenged him to appear in the background of a scene doing the famous dance, the actor accepted.
He now has to wait to see the final edit of the movie to discover if his efforts were successful.
Riley tells Britain’s Q magazine, "I’ve been asked to do it (sing Joy Division songs) a few times since Control. And I’ve been asked to do ‘the Ian Curtis dance’ a few times, too.
"There’s a party scene in On The Road, which I’ve just finished filming. One of the assistants said he’d give me $50 if I somehow managed to do the Curtis dance in the background. I need to see the final cut to find out if I’ve won." Riley stars in the upcoming movie opposite Kristen Stewart and Kirsten Dunst.

GELLAR RETURNING TO TV AS TWINS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:20 pm

SARAH MICHELLE GELLAR fans will be seeing double when the actress returns to TV this year (11) - she has signed up to play twins in an edgy new show.
The former Buffy The Vampire Slayer star has stepped out of the spotlight over the last few years, taking a break to look after her daughter Charlotte, her first child with husband Freddie Prinze, Jr., who was born in 2009.
Gellar is now set to make her small screen return in her first major TV role since her time on the vampire show came to an end back in 2003. She will take on two roles in new thriller The Ringer, playing estranged twins with very different personalities.
The show’s producer, Peter Traugott, tells EW.com, "It’s an edgy thriller about redemption and about revenge. There’s a point of view of two twin sisters who grew apart over a tragedy in their past. And one now seeks redemption and the other one seeks revenge. The sister who is seeking redemption has had a much more troubled life. When her fancy pants sister disappears, she takes over her life. She’s living the life of her more successful sister only to come to find out that her life is equally as fraught with danger and complication. Her sister dies in a boating accident. The other sister takes on her persona, only to come to find out that they have a hit out on her." Gellar will play both parts, with one sister appearing mostly in flashbacks.

MURPHY SLATES SLASH OVER GLEE COMMENTS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:20 pm

GLEE creator RYAN MURPHY is on the warpath again - he’s taken aim at SLASH for snubbing the chance to have his GUNS N’ ROSES songs included in the hit show, branding the rocker "stupid".
The writer is currently feuding with the Kings Of Leon after calling them "self-centred a**holes" for refusing to let their hit Use Somebody be featured on the programme.
Slash revealed earlier this month (Jan11) that he had rejected a suggestion for a Guns N’ Roses-themed Glee episode, saying, "We got asked about that (Glee) once already but it got turned down… Glee is worse than Grease and Grease is bad enough…" And Murphy has now taken aim at Slash for his criticisms of the show, blasting the guitarist in a scathing rant to RollingStone.com.
He says, "Usually I find that people who make those comments, their careers are over; they’re uneducated and quite stupid."

HELMS: ‘THERE’S NO HANGOVER 3′

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:20 pm

THE HANGOVER star ED HELMS has warned fans not to expect a third installment in the comedy franchise - because director TODD PHILLIPS won’t "let that happen".
The moviemaker’s 2009 comedy, starring Helms alongside Bradley Cooper, Zach Galifianakis, Justin Bartha and Heather Graham, was a critical and commercial success, making a massive $467 million (£311 million) at the worldwide box office and winning a Golden Globe award for Best Picture - Musical or Comedy.
The cast is currently filming a follow-up, which will see the characters travel to Thailand for a wedding, but Helms is adamant they won’t be reprising their roles a third time.
When asked about the possibility of another sequel, he tells the Los Angeles Times, "I doubt it. I don’t think Todd would let that happen… I would hope that The Hangover kind of has a dignified legacy, if that makes any sense."

HOPKINS HAD REAL LIFE EXORCIST ON FILM SET

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:17 pm

The cast and crew of SIR ANTHONY HOPKINS’ scary new movie THE RITE had extra help on set from a real life exorcist, whose story inspired the thriller.
The movie focuses on a disillusioned young priest, played by Colin O’Donoghue, who finds his true calling after training to perform exorcisms. The film is based on the life of Father Gary Thomas, whose story was told in Matt Baglio’s book The Rite: The Making of a Modern Exorcist.
Thomas, who works at a parish in Saratoga, California, spent a week in June (10) on the set of the movie in Budapest, Hungary, acting as an adviser to director Mikael Hafstrom.
He admits he’s pleased with the finished film and hopes audiences will find the story inspiring, rather than frightening.
Thomas tells Mercurynews.com, "There’s nothing in the movie I’m ashamed of. You walk out of there with a sense of hope… I just want to do what I can to inform. I’m not offended if someone doesn’t believe it. What I’ve described, I’ve seen."

LOPEZ FACING FURTHER COPYING CLAIMS FROM DELUNA

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:17 pm

JENNIFER LOPEZ has been accused of stealing ideas for her new ON THE FLOOR music video from a promo by R&B singer KAT DELUNA, just a week after fans pointed out similarities between the two songs.
The Jenny From The Block hitmaker debuted her new single last week (18Jan11), and critics have claimed the lyrics and harmonies are similar to DeLuna’s track Party O’Clock, which was released in Europe in November (10). Both tracks were worked on by the same music producer, RedOne.
Images from Lopez’s accompanying video have now emerged online and DeLuna’s fans claim there are striking similarities to the Party O’Clock promo. Lopez’s costumes and dance moves are said to mirror DeLuna’s in the new clip.
DeLuna has spoken out about the video furore and accused Lopez of "taking away" her ideas.
She tells the New York Daily News, "I’ve seen this before, where the more established artist tries to take the vision and artistic ideas away from an emerging artist, and assumes no one will notice because of their bigger shadow. Luckily, my loyal fans and the power of the internet have let the ‘Kat’ out of the bag." But DeLuna insists she won’t be taking any action against the superstar, adding, "Business is business."
