CAVILL WILL FLY AS SUPERMAN
British actor HENRY CAVILL is the new Man of Steel after landing the lead role in the next SUPERMAN movie.
The Tudors star was considered for the role of Clark Kent and his superhero alter-ego in the last incarnation of the franchise, 2006’s Superman Returns - but actor Brandon Routh beat him to the coveted part.
Executives at Warner Bros. Pictures announced the new casting for the as-yet untitled next installment on Sunday (30Jan11).
The film is to be directed by 300’s Zack Snyder, who said in a statement that Cavill is "the perfect choice to don the cape and ‘S’ shield".
The movie is scheduled for release in December, 2012.
