Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:32 pm

Oscar winner JANE FONDA is keen to revive her sci-fi movie character BARBARELLA for a sequel to the cult 1968 film.
The 73 year old even has an idea for the storyline.
She tells the Los Angeles Times, "I have a dream to do a sequel to Barbarella. Not a remake, a sequel! Look, I get shtupped (has sex) by a blind angel, OK? Let’s just take it from there… I think it could be funny - and feminist." The original film was directed by Fonda’s then-husband, Roger Vadim, and was called the "kinkiest film of the year" by Penthouse magazine.

PORN STAR OPENS UP ABOUT SHEEN’S WILD NIGHT

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:32 pm

A porn star has revealed all about last week’s (ends28Jan11) wild party at CHARLIE SHEEN’s house, which ended when the actor was stretchered out and hospitalised.
Adult actress Kacey Jordan agreed to be interviewed on TV and told ABC reporter Ashleigh Banfield she was shocked by the host’s alcohol and drug intake, suggesting Sheen didn’t seem to care if he lived or died.
She says, "I’ve never seen someone so self-destructive and able to take in so much at once. I thought maybe it was almost like a suicide binge." Jordan was reportedly offered $5,000 (£3,300) to attend the party at Sheen’s home. She wound up making more than $30,000 (£20,000).
She insists Sheen was nothing like the polished, quick-witted star she sees on TV - he was a dishevelled mess: "He’s wearing an all-white shirt… covered in wine stains. All the way down him… I was thinking that I was gonna meet the Charlie Sheen that I see on TV. Not the one that’s, like, in shambles and wrecked." Jordan tells Banfield she was one of five women at the party.
She also made unconfirmed claims about Sheen’s drug use at the party.
Sheen’s representatives have released a statement to ABC News, saying, "It is a shame that during this time, while Mr. Sheen has sought treatment on his own, opportunistic women are trying to take advantage of his celebrity status." The actor has checked into rehab following his hospital stay for a hiatal hernia. Reports suggest he’ll stay at the treatment centre for three months.

MURPHY HOUSE AUCTION POSTPONED

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:29 pm

BRITTANY MURPHY’s Hollywood Hills mansion has been temporarily removed from auction to allow the actress’ mother extra time to offload the property on her own.
The Clueless star died suddenly in December 2009 after suffering a cardiac arrest at her California residence. Murphy’s husband, screenwriter Simon Monjack, also passed away at the home just months later in May 2010.
The actress’ mum, Sharon, who lived with the couple at the house, initially placed the property on the market last March (10), only to remove it from sale a month later (Apr10).
The house went into foreclosure early in January (11), with over $4 million (£2.6 million) still owed, and bank bosses were due to auction it off in Pomona, California on Monday (31Jan11).
But Sharon Murphy has managed to convince bank executives to postpone the sale until 14 February (11) in a bid to find a buyer herself, reports TMZ.com.

MCCARTNEY WORKING ON SURFING FILM

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:29 pm

SIR PAUL McCARTNEY is working on a secret surf movie with the Aussie who taught IGGY POP how to hang 10.
The former Beatle befriended Jack McCoy over lunch after the surfing pioneer asked McCartney for permission to use his Fireman song This Is Love in his new film A Deeper Shade of Blue.
And now McCartney wants to create a breathtaking visual to his music, using McCoy’s underwater jet ski filming techniques.
Speaking at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival in California at the weekend (28-30Jan11), McCoy tells WENN, "Paul happened to have seen the film and liked it. The next thing I know I’m flying to London from Sydney to have a two-hour lunch with him.
"He couldn’t have been nicer. We’re now in the negotiating stages on another possible collaboration with my surfing footage and Paul’s music." And McCartney might even get a few surf lessons out of the deal.
McCoy adds, "I live in Palm Beach in Sydney which is like Waikiki Beach (in Oahu, Hawaii); it’s a very gentle wave. All the stars come through and I’m the resident teacher of the surf school. I taught Iggy Pop. This was in Mexico and he did OK. We got him up and going. He’s in really good shape; it takes a bit of balance but he did really good."

LYDON BLASTS JAY-Z AS ‘NONSENSE’

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:26 pm

Punk rocker JOHN LYDON has launched a scathing attack on JAY-Z, dismissing the rap superstar’s work as a "parody".
The former Sex Pistols frontman insists he is no fan of the hip-hop mogul and has no interest in reading Jay-Z’s book Decoded, which will compete against the singer’s own tome Mr Rotten’s Scrapbook for Best Book at the U.K.’s upcoming NME Awards.
He tells NME.com, "I’m afraid what he does is parody to me. Jay-Z’s just nonsense." However, Lydon concedes he’s passing judgement blindly because he’s yet to come face-to-face with the Empire State of Mind hitmaker. He adds: "I’ve never met him."

BEATLES producer SIR GEORGE MARTIN has added his tribute to late composer JOHN BARRY, who died from a heart attack on Sunday (30Jan11).
Martin tells Britain’s Channel 4 News, Barry was "probably our most famous film score writer".
He says, "You could always identify John’s scores. They were very dramatic. They leant themselves to the film in a way that enhanced everything. He was an extraordinary musician - very, very clever.
"Without John Barry there would be no James Bond theme, because the whole essence of that was the excitement, the drama, the orchestration." David Arnold, Simon Le Bon and Mark Ronson are among the other musicians who have paid their respects to the Oscar winner, who composed the scores for legendary Bond films like Goldfinger, From Russia With Love, Thunderball and Diamonds Are Forever.

PROSECUTOR APPEALING KALIMBA RELEASE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:26 pm

A prosecutor involved in the rape case against Mexican singer KALIMBA has appealed a judge’s decision to free the singer.
The pop star, full name Kalimba Marichal Ibar, is accused of sexually assaulting a 17-year-old girl in a Quintana Roo hotel in December (10).
He was deported from America to Mexico in early January (11) to face the charge, but a judge dismissed the case last week (ends28Jan11) due to insufficient evidence to take it to trial.
But prosecutor Francisco Alor is objecting to the ruling and has vowed to fight the decision, insisting the appeal is "based on the overriding interests of the minor, international treaties on protecting minors and in view of the opinions of the human rights commission".
The singer, 28, has protested his innocence.

"They (TV chiefs) said, ‘Yeah, that’s great’, and they threw it in the wastebasket."

HOPKINS SCRAPS HIS MEMOIRS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:26 pm

The Oscar-winning actor, 73, agreed a deal for his memoirs and was even sent an advance fee from the publishers.
He began work the book but soon became convinced it was "c**p" - so he scrapped the project and sent the money back to the unnamed publishing house.
The Silence of the Lambs star tells Britain’s Seven magazine, "Well, I started it but I sent the cheque back. Some publishing house. I told my agent I can’t be doing with all this stuff. Who’s interested in someone else’s life?… I’m not interested in my own life.
"Well, you get self-conscious about it, don’t you. I started writing and I thought: ‘Who the hell wants to read this c**p?’"

GOLDIE: ‘COWELL’S TALENT SHOWS ARE LIKE NUREMBERG RALLIES’

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:26 pm

Dance star-turned-actor GOLDIE has slammed talent show titan SIMON COWELL for ruining wannabe singers’ dreams - comparing his TV singing contests to the German Nazi Party’s notorious Nuremberg Rallies.
The drum ‘n’ bass star can’t stand to watch the mogul’s hit U.K. show The X Factor because he fears for the failed contestants’ mental wellbeing after they are snubbed by the famous judges.
And Goldie is so offended by Cowell, he insists his shows are similar to Adolf Hitler’s famous propaganda events - and is adamant he’d rather dine with North Korean dictator Kim Jon-il than work with the straight-talking Brit.
Goldie tells Britain’s The Observer magazine, "Think about the people who aren’t making it on there (The X Factor). Think about how dysfunctional they feel, how failed they feel, a panel of people going, ‘Sorry, you’re going to fail’. I find it quite crushing. I can’t watch it. I actually physically want to vomit. It’s a circus. Simon Cowell is the George Bush of the music industry.
"He doesn’t know f**k all about music, I’ll tell you that for a fact. I’d rather sit down and have dinner with… Kim Jong-il. I’d rather have dinner with him. I find the whole thing like the Nuremberg Rallies."

BOYBAND BLUE REPRESENTING U.K. AT 2011 EUROVISION

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:23 pm

Reformed British boyband BLUE will represent the U.K. at this year’s (11) Eurovision Song Contest.
The One Love stars split in 2004 to pursue solo careers, but now Antony Costa, Duncan James, Simon Webbe and Lee Ryan have reunited and accepted an invitation by bosses at the BBC, which broadcasts the contest live, to enter the European competition on Britain’s behalf.
The group will perform I Can, a track specially written for the event by James and Ryan, on 14 May (11) when the Eurovision Song Contest takes place in Dusseldorf, Germany.
The decision has already come under attack by some critics, with Blue’s former manager Daniel Glatman blasting the move as "reckless insanity" as previous U.K. entrants have experienced ridicule in the press after failing to score highly in the competition.
Glatman said, "They will have to win. Anything less and their reputation would be in tatters." But the bandmates have defended their Eurovision decision, reports the BBC.
James says, "There’s been a lot of negativity but all we ask is, please hold off until you hear the song." Singer Webbe adds, "Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Obviously we don’t agree with him (Glatman). We believe this is going to be the best springboard for us to come back on…
"It was a no-brainer for us. This song for us we feel is Blue - this would have been our first single whether it was for Eurovision or not."

ETHERIDGE INITIALLY SNUBBED AMERICAN IDIOT

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:23 pm

MELISSA ETHERIDGE nearly missed out on making her Broadway debut in hit musical AMERICAN IDIOT - the rocker initially turned down the role.
The Come to My Window hitmaker is standing in for Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong from 1 to 6 February (11), as he takes a break from performing as drug dealer St. Jimmy in the musical based on his band’s hit songs.
But Etheridge admits when show bosses first asked her to step in, she wasn’t so sure - although she’s glad she changed her mind.
She tells The Associated Press, "It’s been crazy. Oh my God, it’s so fun, though. I’m having a blast. I’m so outside of my comfort zone and I’m like living out high school fantasies.
"When they called me, at first I was like, ‘Aw, no. That’s really nice, but no.’ Then I kind of sat with it for a couple of days and thought, ‘This could be supercool and superfun.’" Armstrong made his Broadway debut in the show in September (10), winning over theatre critics and sending box office sales soaring above $1 million (£666,670) during his week-long run.
He reprised the role in the New Year (11) after original castmember Tony Vincent bowed out of the production.

NEIL: ‘I’VE LEARNED MY LESSON’

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:20 pm

Rocker VINCE NEIL is ready to serve his 15-day jail term for a driving under the influence (DUI) conviction, insisting he’s learned his lesson for his "mistake".
The Motley Crue frontman was handed the sentence last week (26Jan11) in connection to his arrest for speeding and drink driving in Las Vegas last June (10).
As part of a deal with prosecutors, the singer - who faced up to six months behind bars if convicted - pleaded guilty in exchange for the more lenient sentence. He will also serve 15 days under house arrest following his release, attend alcohol awareness lessons and pay a $185 (£123) fine.
But Neil, who initially denied the charges, accepts he was at fault and is keen to complete the punishment so he can put the incident behind him.
He tells People.com, "I made a mistake, and I have to finally learn my lesson and go do a little bit of time. I’ve already learned my lesson.
"I just have to move on and get past it and get it behind me." Neil must surrender to authorities at the Clark County Detention Center on 15 February (11), a week after his 50th birthday.
The rocker was previously convicted on DUI charges in 1984 for his part in a car crash that claimed the life of Hanoi Rocks star Nicholas Dingley.
