Clay tells retail company Opening Ceremony the pop star complimented his style while shopping at New York retailer Barney�s during the summer (10).
The two went on to exchange e-mail addresses, and Clay put his art history studies at America’s prestigious Yale University on hold to work for West, who is known for making outrageous statements with his wardrobe.
Describing his fashion sense, Clay says, "Comfort is indulgent and ultimately forgettable.�

Newlywed NICOLE RICHIE has been given another reason to celebrate as she prepares to ring in 2011 - she’ll start the New Year as a free woman.
The socialite/actress’ probation for a 2006 DUI charge was terminated on Wednesday (29Dec10), two months before it was scheduled to end.
Richie, who wed rocker Joel Madden earlier this month (Dec10), was arrested after police spotted her driving the wrong way on an Los Angeles freeway.
Her probation was scheduled to end in February (11), but her lawyer Shawn Chapman Holley went to court on Wednesday morning to present a judge with proof Nicole had completed all the terms of her probation, according to TMZ.com.
The judge agreed to terminate it early.

Singer DANNII MINOGUE is relishing her new role as a mother - and is already making plans to have another child.
The Australian pop star welcomed her first baby, son Ethan, with partner Kris Smith in July (10) - and she admits becoming a mum has made her want to expand her family.
She says, "I’ve gone from being not bothered about being a mum to being quite keen to have a second baby.
"For me, the baby idea came from meeting the right man. And now he’s (Ethan) here and he’s giggling and smiling. It’s an incredible thing.
"I never thought I was very maternal. I was always so busy with work, and a baby just seemed… like something I was never going to do."

Irish singer BERNIE NOLAN was stunned when venue bosses decided to stand down security at a show - and a huge brawl broke out in the audience.
The Nolans star was on tour with her singing siblings when officials at an unnamed concert hall decided a gig by the family-friendly girl band would not require crowd-control staff.
But the I’m In the Mood for Dancing hitmakers were left terrified when a group of drunken women in the audience began fighting each other during the performance.
Bernie Nolan tells U.K. TV host Lorraine Kelly, "We went to one place, which will remain nameless, and the bouncers said, ‘We will get all the security to go because it’s The Nolans, you know?’ And there was a fight! I was frightened. There was a fight, because everyone’s having a drink before the show - you know what us ladies are like on the wine. Everywhere we went there was trouble - it was great!"

JANE’S ADDICTION frontman PERRY FARRELL and his wife have stripped off for a saucy new photoshoot which sees the rocker posing in his underpants while his partner takes a bath in the kitchen sink.
The 51-year-old singer and his dancer wife Etty are seen showing off their domestic side in the pictures, published by Britain’s Daily Mail, and in one racy shot the pair is seen posing semi-naked in their kitchen.
Perry is shown perched on a kitchen unit in an open white shirt and a tiny pair of black and white underpants, while Etty soaps up in the sink. They are also seen posing by the stove as they make pancakes.
And the rocker admits he is still totally in love with his wife of eight years, saying, "I’m always right next to someone who I’m so attracted to and so in love with. I always get that feeling of love and it gets reciprocated like that.
"And also I can always bounce anything off of her and know I’ll always get a really great answer because she’s very smart aside from being beautiful. She gives me courage and all that."

Singer BERNIE NOLAN has thanked surgeons who saved her life during her breast cancer battle - insisting they deserve awards for their "incredible" work.
The Nolans star was diagnosed with the disease in April (10) and was later given the all-clear following a mastectomy, chemotherapy, and breast reconstruction surgery.
And she has now spoken out to send special thanks to the team of medics who cared for her during her illness, because they are rarely rewarded for their work.
She tells U.K. TV host Lorraine Kelly, "It was a great team looking after me… These men, they are the people that deserve awards. These surgeons… they don’t get (praise). You know, people in showbiz, these big divas (who say), ‘I want this on my rider, I want that on my rider’, and all they do is sing and act. These guys not only save lives but they created a whole new breast for me from out of nothing. It’s absolutely incredible."

A woman whose family inspired classic movie musical THE SOUND OF MUSIC has died.
Agathe von Trapp passed away on Tuesday (28Dec10) at a hospice in Towson, Maryland after suffering congestive heart failure last month (Nov10). She was 97.
Von Trapp was the oldest daughter of Austrian naval officer Captain Georg Ritter von Trapp, whose seven children were the basis for the singing family in Robert Wise’s 1965 movie, starring Julie Andrews.
The musical centred around a woman who leaves an Austrian convent to become a governess to the children of a stern naval officer widower.
The real-life von Trapp daughter ran a kindergarten at the Sacred Heart Catholic parish in Glyndon, Maryland prior to her death.

MOULIN ROUGE! star JOHN LEGUIZAMO is returning to Broadway - he’s bringing his autobiographical one-man stage show to the Big Apple next February (11).
The actor will begin previews of Ghetto Klown at Manhattan’s Lyceum Theater on 21 February (11).
The show chronicles the early days of Leguizamo’s acting career.
The 46 year old star last appeared on Broadway in 2008 when he was part of the ensemble cast in a revival of American Buffalo. He also wrote and appeared in stage show Sexaholix from 2001 to 2003 and he won an Emmy for his monologue in 1998 Broadway comedy, Freak.
His latest show, directed by Fisher Stevens, officially opens for a 12-week run on 22 March (11).

A representative for the troubled SPIDER-MAN Broadway musical has lashed out at theatre critics who have reviewed the show weeks ahead of its official opening and written scathing reports.
Julie Taymor’s Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark has suffered a number of setbacks since preview performances began in November (10) - a series of onset accidents and further safety inspections forced producers to push back the official launch date until 7 February (11).
And the critics aren’t helping the show, which is playing to sell-out houses, despite the problems.
While it’s common practice on Broadway is to invite reviewers to one of several â��criticâ��s previewsâ�� right before opening and embargo the write-ups until after opening night, heightened interest in the $65 million (GBP43.3 million) production has prompted some critics to file intermin reports.
And show bosses are seething after Jeremy Gerard of Bloomberg News and Linda Winer of Newsday published their takes on the show earlier this week (begs27Dec10), more than five weeks before the creative team deems the show suitable for an official opening.
Bloomberg’s Gerard, while praising the sets, lighting and choreography, came down hard on producers, calling the show â��an unfocused hodge-podge of story-telling, myth-making and spectacle that comes up short in every department." Meanwhile, Winer dubbed the show’s flying effects â��exciting and scary, in a circus way,â�� adding that director Taymor was â��said to be making much-needed changes to the meandering book, especially in the weak second act.â�� And show spokesperson Rick Miramontez has been left doing damage control.
He tells the Hollywood Reporter, "For a major critic to review a Broadway musical, or play for that matter, after only the twentieth preview, is disappointing and uncalled for.
�Whatever reason the critic or their editor may have, it does not mask the fact that for decades, musicals have developed in front of paying audiences before critics are INVITED. While we are certainly not naive about the media scrutiny attached to this production, as we have been accommodating throughout, this unprecedented new development is troubling, to say the least."

MADONNA has filled more column inches in Britain than any other celebrity over the last decade, according to new research.
The singer came top of a study to find the star who has grabbed the most headlines in U.K. print press since 2000.
The research by Kantar Media found Madonna has been mentioned a massive 46,017 times over the last 10 years, while British music mogul Simon Cowell came second with 29,888.
Kantar Media researcher Brian Merron says, "This shows why she’s hailed as a legend. That stickability factor in the consciousness of the nation marks her as a special talent and someone who is able to constantly re-invent themselves to change with the times." Pop star Robbie Williams took third place, ahead of supermodel Kate Moss and Britney Spears in fourth and fifth respectively.
The top 10 also features Victoria and David Beckham, Michael Jackson, Sir Paul McCartney and Kylie Minogue.

LINDSAY LOHAN is making plans to expand her fashion range once she completes her current stint in rehab - the actress is designing shoes.
The Mean Girls star will be introducing footwear to her 6126 fashion brand, and her designs are expected to be debuted next autumn (11).
A representative for Lohan tells EOnline.com, "(The shoes are) classic, glamorous, timeless with a sexy flair… She’ll finalise everything when she’s out (of rehab)." Lohan is due to leave a clinic in California next week (03Jan11) after serving three months of court-ordered treatment for breaching her probation relating to a 2007 DUI arrest.

LYDIA HEARST has distanced herself from reports she has been cast in a movie allegedly based on LINDSAY LOHAN’s life, insisting her new red-headed look has nothing to do with a film project.
The socialite-turned-actress was announced as the lead in Dogs in Pocketbooks, a satire about a troubled young star which screenwriter Charles Casillo has suggested was inspired by the Mean Girls star.
But Hearst, who recently ditched her trademark blonde look, has denied the casting news, explaining she adopted her new auburn hairstyle for a modelling job - and not to look like Lohan for the role.
In a series of messages posted on her Twitter.com page, she writes, "Just so we are all clear… My hair is red because I am the new face of Schwarzkopf Color. I am a model. I dyed my hair to front the campaign.
"As for any theatrical roles I am currently filming Two Jacks directed by Bernard Rose. My next project is Catwalk by Tony Hickox. Thank you all for your messages of encouragement during my transition to acting. I truly love and appreciate it. At this time I am not officially signed onto any other projects." Casillo has since clarified that the character was inspired by a number of stars besides Lohan - including Marilyn Monroe and Britney Spears - after the actress’ mother threatened legal action to halt production.

R&B star USHER has been accused of stealing from THE SIMPSONS - DJs in America have allegedly found similarities between his hit track OMG and a comedy Christmas carol featured in the animated show.
The Yeah! hitmaker’s single, a collaboration with Black Eyed Peas star will.i.am, is alleged to be a rip-off of a tune sung by Homer Simpson in a 2003 episode of the longrunning cartoon series.
Usher sings the words, "Honey got a booty like pow, pow, pow. Honey got some boobies like wow, oh wow," while Simpson is heard singing, "Christmas in December, wow wow wow. Give me tons of presents, now now now." Radio DJs in Mississippi have now mixed together the two songs and created a video comparing the two lyrics, leading to online fans questioning whether the singer based his chart hit on The Simpsons song.
After the video was posted on YouTube.com one fan commented, "One song is awesome and funny, the other song is talentless and annoying as f***. Which is which?" But others have defended Usher, with one writing on the Entertainment Weekly website, "I bet Usher has more important stuff to do than watch a seven-year-old Simpsons episode and think, ‘That’d be a great song!’" Usher was hit with a plagiarism lawsuit last month (Nov10) from an aspiring singer who has accused the star and Alicia Keys of stealing 2004 track Caught Up.

SIR ELTON JOHN has spoken of his joy at becoming a first-time father, insisting the arrival of his baby son has fulfilled his longtime wish to become a parent.
The 63-year-old singer and his partner David Furnish welcomed little Zachary Jackson Levon on Christmas Day (25Dec10) via a surrogate mother.
The Rocket Man reveals he began making plans to start a family after the couple was denied the chance to adopt a child called Lev and his brother Artyom from the Ukraine in 2009.
And he is delighted to have finally achieved the dream of becoming a dad following the birth of baby Zachary.
He tells Us Weekly, "For many years we have talked about fulfilling one of our greatest wishes by becoming parents. And now this wish has been granted to us, we feel so blessed and lucky." While Furnish insists the new arrival doesn’t mean they will cut contact with the Ukrainian boys, revealing they have been working hard to help the youngsters find a loving home.
He adds, "Although Ukranian law does not permit Elton and I to adopt Lev and Artyom, we are determined to give them the best chance of living a happy and healthy life with a loving Ukranian family. The arrival of our son has done nothing but strengthen our resolve to help these two wonderful children. We are, however, constrained by Ukranian policy and legal procedure, and this is why for the past 12 months we have retained a leading Ukranian law firm to assist us in this process."

British rapper TINIE TEMPAH was so excited to duet with SNOOP DOGG at legendary music festival Glastonbury earlier this year (10), he felt "numb" for much of the gig.
The Pass Out hitmaker teamed up with his idol onstage at the annual event in Somerset, England in June (10) - and the show lived up to Tempah’s expectations.
He tells Britain’s Daily Star, "I couldn’t feel myself, I felt numb and needed to touch something. I thought: ‘I can’t touch Snoop Dogg ‘cos that would be weird.’ "So I jumped off stage and tried to touch all the fans on the front row. Slapping their hands made me think: ‘Oh man, this is real.’"

Actor JIM BROADBENT has defended the casting of MERYL STREEP as former British Prime Minister MARGARET THATCHER in a forthcoming biopic, insisting she’s the "perfect" actress for the part.
Movie bosses have been criticised for hiring the American film legend to play the U.K.’s first female prime minister in The Iron Lady, but Broadbent, who will play Thatcher’s husband Denis, believes she is the best choice for the role.
And he’s convinced Streep actually has an advantage over a British star because she will bring an "outsider’s view" to her performance.
He tells NYMag.com, "I think years ago a film about Thatcher was attempted, and they had a phone-in vote on a BBC morning news programme (in Britain): ‘Who do you think should play Margaret Thatcher?’ And Meryl actually came out on top! "I think it’s perceived that Thatcher needs a star, really, and she’s perfect casting in many ways. She’s got a good look, and she’ll absolutely do it in a brilliant way. She’s also got an interesting eye on the script: She can bring an outsider’s view on the story, so that it won’t become a lazy, parochial piece that Brits understand but where nobody else really knows what’s going on. She can ask the questions that foreign audiences will ask."

Rocker SHAUN RYDER is convinced he’ll have to endure another stint on reality TV as he attempts to revive his music career - because "that’s part of the game now".
The Happy Mondays frontman entered the Australian jungle last month (Nov10) to spend three weeks on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! and finished second on the show, behind former The X Factor finalist Stacey Solomon.
