DRAIMAN FELL ILL AFTER MEDICATION OVERDOSE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:22 pm

DISTURBED rocker DAVID DRAIMAN has revealed the reasons behind his hospitalisation earlier this year (10) - he was given an overdose of allergy medication.
The band’s frontman was receiving regular immunotherapy injections to control his unspecified allergies but fell dangerously ill in October when he was accidentally given 10 times the required dose.
His blood pressure plummeted and he was taken to hospital suffering severe anaphylactic shock, and the band was forced to axe several shows while Draiman recovered.
He tells Metal Hammer magazine, "I’d been having allergy shot therapy, and in the middle of the touring cycle an injection that was supposed to be administered at 0.05 of a particular concentration was injected at 0.5 - 10 times more than I was supposed to get.
"I had severe anaphylactic shock. Airwaves constricted, blood pressure plummeting. I was on oxygen for hours and still my blood pressure was way, way low. This was the day before we were supposed to play three shows in a row and the residual inflammation that came from the allergic reaction meant that I couldn’t heal from it in the middle of the touring cycle.
"My vocal cords were pretty beaten up: seeing them on a stroboscope was pretty scary. They told me if I sang I’d be risking permanent damage."

FRANKLIN ‘GRATEFUL’ TO BE HOME FOR THE HOLIDAYS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:22 pm

Soul legend ARETHA FRANKLIN has given her first interview since her release from hospital, insisting she’s feeling "great" and is "grateful" to be home for the holidays.
The singer underwent "successful" surgery at a hospital in Detroit, Michigan earlier this month (Dec10) to treat an undisclosed ailment, with subsequent reports suggesting she has been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.
The 68-year-old star was discharged from hospital this week (beg13Dec10) and has now spoken out in her first interview since her health crisis, revealing she’s feeling much better.
She tells Jet magazine, "I feel great. The doctors say I can do whatever I feel like I am up to do. Of course, that doesn’t mean any concerts or anything like that. But I can do things around the house, and today I am just piddling around the house." Franklin has yet to confirm the nature her illness, but insists she will talk more about her health problems once she has had time to recover: "This is Aretha time to do whatever it is that I need to do. But I will talk more later." And the music icon insists she is extremely happy to have been released from hospital in time to spend Christmas with her loved ones, adding: "God has given me the greatest gift already for the holidays. I am so grateful."

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:19 pm

Actress AMY ADAMS once became involved in a street brawl with a friend who attempted to drive after a booze binge.
The Enchanted star plays Mark Wahlberg’s onscreen love interest in new movie The Fighter and Adams admits she’s thrown a punch herself in the past.
She tells U.S. talk show host Chelsea Handler, "Yes, yes I have. It was a good reason… she was really drunk and she wanted to drive and she was just being unreasonable and she was trying to get her keys from me and I thought in the movies - I was like 24 at this time, I wasn’t in movies - they slap people to get them to be reasonable.
"So I slapped her across the face and oddly enough she didn’t come to… she attacked me. My brother had to break it up… she was a friend of mine."

AYKROYD: ‘BELUSHI WOULD HAVE RULED BROADWAY’

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:19 pm

DAN AYKROYD is convinced his late friend JOHN BELUSHI would have quit Hollywood and gone on to become one of Broadway’s top directors if he had lived.
The comedy legend passed away in 1982 at the age of 33 after suffering a drugs overdose.
Aykroyd worked with Belushi in the 1970s on sketch show Saturday Night Live before they teamed up for iconic roles in The Blues Brothers movie in 1980.
And the funnyman is convinced that if his pal had survived, he would have walked away from movies and TV and focused on his love of theatre instead.
Aykroyd tells the Associated Press, "I don’t know today whether John, whether his spirit could take some of the abuse that you’d have to go through to be in the television, motion-picture business. John, even though he was tough, he was sensitive…
"He was very intellectual, John, and he was very well versed in theatre and books and literature, science. He would be probably one of the top Broadway directors, doing really, really special work, doing Shakespeare, doing Congreve, doing Shaw.
"That’s the calibre of work he’d be doing. Although the rest of us would still be making buddy comedies, he would have definitely risen above all of that and gone on to do really important work."

STARS PAY TRIBUTE TO EDWARDS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:16 pm

Stars including ROBERT WAGNER, STEVE MARTIN and BO DEREK have paid tribute to legendary director BLAKE EDWARDS, who passed away on Wednesday night (15Dec10).
The Pink Panther moviemaker died in California at the age of 88 after suffering complications from pneumonia, and a number of his famous friends and former colleagues have now stepped forward to pay their respects.
Wagner, who starred in two of Edwards’ Pink Panther films and remained close friends with his former boss, has called the writer/director a "genius" and credited him with boosting his career.
He says, "He gave me some of the greatest opportunities of my career and there won’t be anybody passing by like him again. He was a genius. Personally, we were so very close friends and he was so kind to me throughout my entire life." Veteran screen beauty Derek, who rose to fame in Edwards’ 1979 movie 10, has also praised the late star for handing her a career in Hollywood, adding, "We’ve lost a true genius of entertainment. It was my greatest fortune, my life-changing fortune, that he believed in me. He selected me for the role which shaped everything that ever happened to me.
"He was a loyal friend and I will miss him and that mischievous expression that would come over his face when he was about to come up with something hilarious." Martin, who revived the role of Inspector Jacques Clouseau in the recently rebooted Pink Panther series, writes in a post on Twitter.com, "Blake Edwards was one of the people who made me love comedy. SPECTOR’S RAGE OVER RICHARDS BOOK

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:25 pm

Sixties singer RONNIE SPECTOR was furious when she read KEITH RICHARDS’ tell-all book - because she mistakenly thought his tales of druggy excesses with RONNIE WOOD referred to her.
The Ronettes star was close friends with the Rolling Stones wildman in the band’s heyday, but is adamant she "never, ever" took narcotics when partying with him.
And she was "angry" when she leafed through his recent memoirs Life and saw his anecdotes about drug-taking with "Ronnie" - until she realised he was referring to his bandmate Wood.
Spector tells Vanity Fair, "It was never like that with Keith and me. It was always very innocent. It wasn’t all about ‘let’s get in the bed’ with him. I never had sex with him or anything like that… We may have kissed, I don’t remember. It was 40 years ago.
"I was skimming through it the other day, and he’s talking about Ronnie, and I think, ‘Oh, he must mean me. I’ll read this.’ And then he writes, ‘We went in the bathroom and did drugs.’ I was like, ‘Keith! I never did drugs! What are you saying?’ "I was so angry with him. I never, ever did drugs with him. In fact, I used to yell at Keith. I’d say, ‘You can do a little marijuana but don’t go any further than that.’ So I’m reading this and I’m just fuming. I’m ready to call him and really cuss him out, but then I read a little more and it turns out he was actually talking about Ronnie Wood."

MCCARTNEY THRILLED WITH BEATLES ITUNES DEAL

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:22 pm

SIR PAUL McCARTNEY is glad the BEATLES’ back catalogue is finally available online - because a "whole new generation" can now find inspiration in their music.
The Fab Four’s albums and singles were made available on the iTunes internet store last month (Nov10) after years of negotiations between bosses at record label EMI and computer giant Apple.
McCartney has always been eager for the material to be available digitally so younger music fans can have access to the songs - and he’s delighted with the deal.
He tells the Liverpool Echo newspaper, "I think people thought it was us holding it up, but that was just the record companies. We’ve always wanted it to go onto iTunes. If that’s the way people are listening now, then that’s great.
"That’s the amazing thing about the Beatles’ stuff. When we were in the Beatles we thought our popularity might last 10 years, if that. It lasted even longer than that, and now it’s just gone mad. There’s a whole new generation out there listening to those songs.
"The other day I was trying to think what it must be like to be a teenager now who likes the Beatles. I suppose it’s like me listening to Nat King Cole when I was a kid."

BUBLE LEAVES WEDDING PLANNING TO LOPILATO

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:19 pm

MICHAEL BUBLE has let his fiancee LUISANA LOPILATO plan their wedding - because he wants the actress/singer to have "the perfect day".
The crooner proposed last November (09) and the pair is set to exchange vows in April (11) in Lopilato’s native Argentina, followed by a second ceremony for Buble’s family and friends in Canada.

He tells British TV show Daybreak. "It’s only four months away. I’m getting a little nervous now.
"The truth is I know a lot of women dream of that day. It’s a big deal for them in their life and they want this to be perfect. I’m a boy, I didn’t grow up thinking about my wedding day. For me, I just want it to be good for her. I want her to feel like she had the perfect day." MCKAGAN EXPLAINS SINUS SURGERY

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:16 pm

Former GUNS N’ ROSES star DUFF MCKAGAN has undergone sinus surgery to remove scar tissue which built up during years of cocaine abuse.
The Velvet Revolver rocker - who turned his back on substance abuse in the mid-1990s - checked into hospital this month (Dec10) for a mystery operation, prompting some gossips to suggest the musician was once again taking drugs.
McKagan has now spoken out to dismiss rumours of a relapse and he’s revealed the procedure was necessary to repair the damage caused by his battle with illegal substances.
He tells RockAAA.com, "Thank you all for the very nice well-wishes regarding my sinus surgery recovery.
"I do want to make it clear for those of you who may be wondering… The surgery was a result of scar tissue build-up from my cocaine use which ended sixteen years ago. I have not relapsed on cocaine."
