EVI QUAID SKIPS ANOTHER COURT HEARING

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 2:34 am

A judge has issued an arrest warrant for the wife of actor RANDY QUAID after she skipped her latest court date on Thursday (16Dec10).
Evi Quaid was due to appear in a Santa Barbara, California court for a probation hearing, stemming from a felony vandalism case. She and her husband were arrested in September (10) for allegedly squatting illegally in a California home they once owned.
The Quaids had skipped three prior court dates relating to the charges and have launched a bid for asylum in Canada, insisting they fear for their welfare if they return to California.
But Evi, 47, is a wanted woman yet again - on Thursday, a judge approved a new $100,000 (£66,700) arrest warrant.
Her failure to show prompted her attorney, Robert Sanger, to quit as her legal representative.
She is believed to have stayed in Canada, where she is a citizen, to be with her husband.

GIBSON GRANTED EXTRA TIME WITH TOT

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 2:34 am

Actor MEL GIBSON has been granted extra visitation time with his baby girl in the latest round of custody court battles with his ex-girlfriend OKSANA GRIGORIEVA.
The Braveheart star has been locked in a bitter fight with the Russian singer over custody of little Lucia since the couple split earlier this year (10), with Grigorieva accusing her ex of attacking her during a heated argument in January (10).
Gibson’s legal advisors argued her public comments suggest she’s only interested in damaging his reputation, and they requested the actor be given full custody of Lucia, with Grigorieva only allowed monitored visits during the day.
The warring parents had signed an agreement in May (10) granting them both joint physical and legal custody of the tot, while Gibson was entitled to a total of six days of visitation with Lucia, including three overnight visits, every two weeks.
Grigorieva had hoped to have the actor stripped of the overnight stays.
The case returned to a Los Angeles courtroom on Thursday (17Dec10) and Judge Scott Gordon agreed to increase the amount of visitation for Gibson.
Details of the ruling have not been released, but sources tell TMZ.com the additional time only amounts to a few extra hours a week.

SNIPES’ LAWYERS FILE NEW APPEAL

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 2:34 am

Jailed WESLEY SNIPES’ lawyer has filed a new appeal against the actor’s three-year prison term for tax evasion, requesting officials free the star so he can fight his case in the U.S. Supreme Court.
The Blade star spent two years fighting his 2008 conviction for failing to file tax returns and recently lost an appeal and a request for a retrial.
He surrendered to authorities on 9 December (10) and is currently incarcerated in a minimum security prison in Pennsylvania.
But his attorneys are refusing to give up the fight to free the embattled star and they filed new documents in a Florida court on Friday (17Dec10) asking the U.S. Court of Appeals to overturn a previous ruling which denied him bail last week (ends10Dec10).
Snipes’ legal team wants the judges at the Supreme Court to decide whether the actor should be granted a new trial following fresh revelations about alleged jury misconduct during his 2008 case, according to TMZ.com.
The latest allegations stem from claims made by an unnamed member of the 2008 jury, who emailed Snipes’ lawyers earlier this year (10). The juror claimed three people on the panel had decided on their verdict before the trial had begun.
