Hollywood actor OWEN WILSON has spoken of his relief after his brother survived a terrifying shark attack in Hawaii.
Andrew Wilson, older brother to actor brothers Owen and Luke, was bitten while he surfed with friends, and although the deadly fish clamped down on his right foot, he managed to escape serious injury and swim back to shore.
The Wedding Crashers star only heard about the incident when he texted his big brother to ask about a problem with his TV and was shocked by his sibling’s response.
He tells TV host Jay Leno, "Just the other day I was sending a message to Andrew about some guy coming by to take a look at the TV.
"He sent back (a message saying), ‘Sounds good, I was bitten by a shark so I won’t be there.’ And he literally was bitten by a shark on his right foot. Can you imagine swimming and then feeling something clamp down and pull? He was OK, he had to get some stitches and everything.
"Actually the paramedics who came said he was more at danger (because his friends) had tied a BlackBerry (cell phone) cord around his ankle from cutting off the circulation on his foot. He’s so kind of stoic about it."

ASHLEE SIMPSON-WENTZ has let slip the details of NICOLE RICHIE’s wedding to JOEL MADDEN, revealing the socialite burst into tears when her new husband serenaded her.
Richie wed the Good Charlotte rocker at her father Lionel’s Los Angeles estate last Saturday (11Dec10) and her close friend Simpson-Wentz was among the guests at the French-themed nuptials.
The pop star has now spoken out about the "beautiful" day and revealed Madden surprised his bride by singing to her.
She tells Britain’s Sunday Mirror, "It was the most beautiful day. Nicole looked incredible and her and Joel are so in love it’s insane. The best bit was when Joel sang to her and she started crying."

LILY ALLEN faced the prospect of sleeping in an airport on Saturday night (18Dec10) when her flight was grounded as heavy snow hit the U.K.
The Smile singer, who suffered a tragic miscarriage in October (10), was hoping to put the misery of the last few months behind her by jetting off on a romantic festive break with her boyfriend Sam Cooper.
But the holiday came to a halt after the couple boarded a plane at London’s Heathrow Airport as the wintry conditions saw runways closed and flights cancelled.
The couple sat on the plane for more than three hours before all passengers were ordered back to the terminal, and the singer gave fans a running commentary of her miserable day via her Twitter.com page.
In a series of posts, she wrote, "Sitting on the plane (767) and grounded, all airports closed according to pilot. Great, just great… Still here… I made a packed lunch of ham salad sandwiches, homemade chocolate chip cookies and lemon drizzle cake. Am getting stuck in… and watching Salt with Angelina Jolie in, which is pretty s**t… So now we’ve been chucked off the plane. Bad start to a much needed holiday." After the couple was sent back to the terminal building, Allen faced a night sleeping at the airport as all the local hotels were full and the snow was preventing taxis reaching stranded passengers.
She added, "Next runway inspection at 6 apparently. So upset!… Still no idea if our flight will go, ever. Can’t get a hotel anywhere and cabs can’t get anywhere near LHR (London Heathrow). Guess we’re all kipping (sleeping) here. Luckily I always travel with my pillow and a blanket." Allen later voiced her frustration in a series of angry posts: "I give up. 2010. F**k you… Don’t ask. F**king nightmare." The singer hopes to finally take off on Sunday (19Dec10), adding, "Terminal 3 carnage. Apparently our flight is going today. Lots of tinfoil blankets all over the place. Departures is a ghost town."

SCARLETT JOHANSSON and RYAN REYNOLDS have proved their split is amicable by meeting up for a friendly dinner in New York City, according to a U.S. report.
The Hollywood couple called time on its two-year union earlier this month (Dec10), but dismissed rumours of an ugly break-up by insisting they plan to end their marriage with "love and kindness".
The Lost In Translation actress was subsequently snapped enjoying a holiday in Jamaica with a group of female friends, and she reportedly took time to meet her estranged husband in New York upon her return.
The pair was seen enjoying dinner together at the Blue Ribbon restaurant in Manhattan on Friday night (17Dec10), according to People.com.
A source tells the publication, "They were smiling and laughing the whole time. They just wanted to connect and have a friendly chat. They just wanted to sit down together. The tone was light and fun despite the untruths that the media is working up. 
They aren’t reconciling. This was just two people who were married being civil and friendly."

GWYNETH PALTROW has confirmed she played a part in JAKE GYLLENHAAL’s romance with TAYLOR SWIFT, revealing she and her husband CHRIS MARTIN helped bring the new couple together.
The country singer was first linked to the Brokeback Mountain hunk back in October (10), and last month (Nov10) they were pictured spending the Thanksgiving holiday together.
They have yet to confirm the romance, but Gyllenhaal’s pal Paltrow has now revealed the lovers met through her rocker husband.
She tells USA Today, "I’ve just known Jake for a long time and he’s a great guy, and Chris has a friendship with Taylor…" And when asked about a rumour the pair met over dinner at Paltrow’s home, she replies, "Well I’m scared to say. BREAKING BAD has beaten FRINGE and THE GOOD WIFE as America’s top TV show of the year (10) in a new magazine poll.
The cult drama, about a teacher who becomes a methamphetamine maker and drug dealer, has won actor Bryan Cranston plaudits and now it has been named America’s top show in Entertainment Weekly’s end-of-year issue.
Sci-fi drama Fringe comes in second ahead of Julianna Margulies’ The Good Wife.
Comedies Community, Parks & Recreation, Modern Family and 30 Rock also make the top 10, as does the acclaimed Mad Men.
Meanwhile, Kanye West’s My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy has been named the year’s Best Album, ahead of The Suburbs by Arcade Fire, and Nothin’ On You by B.O.B and Bruno Mars wins the Best Single prize.
The Social Network is the publication’s Film of the Year, ahead of The Kids Are Alright.

JERMAINE JACKSON filed a police report alleging he was the victim of theft back in September (10) after a designer bag containing furs, jewellery and clothes went missing from his California home.
Michael Jackson’s brother, who is currently battling his ex-wife Alejandra Jackson over his child support payments, claims a Louis Vuitton case stuffed with more than $150,000 (£100,000)-worth of belongings disappeared from his Calabasas mansion.
He lodged an official complaint with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department in September (10) just a week before he filed court papers asking for his $3,000 (£2,000)-a-month in child support for sons Jaafar and Jermajesty to be reduced, according to TMZ.com.
Jackson recently had his driving licence confiscated by California officials over allegations he owes a massive $91,921 (£61,280) in back payments to his former spouse.

LADY GAGA burst into tears when she heard politicians have voted to lift the ban on gay men and women openly serving in the U.S. army - insisting she feels "so proud to be an American".
The pop superstar has long campaigned for gay rights and she has been a fierce opponent of the country’s controversial Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell (DADT) policy, which required homosexuals to hide their orientation or risk losing their job.
Politicians in the U.S. Senate repealed the law on Friday (17Dec10) and Gaga, who is currently in London, has now spoken of her delight.
She took to Twitter.com to post a picture of herself smiling and holding a sign reading, "Full equality", adding in a message, "Can’t hold back the tears + pride. We did it! Our voice was heard + today the Senate repealed DADT. A triumph for equality after 17 years… Today I am so proud to be American. I wish I was home so I could throw a Parade. We are on the way… to full equal." Other stars have joined Gaga in praising the move - Katy Perry wrote on Twitter, "Supporting all our troops!… Congrats 2 US!!! repeal of DADT & 17 years of allowing human rights violations. British music stars from bands including FRANZ FERDINAND, KLAXONS and THE ZUTONS have paid tribute to late American rocker/painter CAPTAIN BEEFHEART, who died on Friday (17Dec10).
The 69 year old - real name Don Van Vliet - passed away at a hospital in California after suffering complications from multiple sclerosis, and a number of musicians have taken to the internet to honour their hero.
Franz Ferdinand frontman Alex Kapranos, who has credited the late star with influencing his own band, paid tribute in a message on Twitter.com, posting a link to one of Beefheart’s songs and writing, "Oh no. RIP Don Van Vliet, aka Captain Beefheart." And when a fan asked whether Beefheart was "an influence" Kapranos added, "Very much so." Klaxons’ Jamie Reynolds simply wrote "God bless" on his Twitter page, while The Zutons frontman Dave McCabe added, "RIP The Captain Don Van Vliet… I know it’s late but it’s gotta be said hasn’t it. (He) really will be missed by all fans across the globe."

RASCAL FLATTS bassist JAY DEMARCUS is a first-time father - his wife ALLISON ALDERSON gave birth to a baby girl on Friday (17Dec10).
The couple welcomed its first child, a daughter named Madeline Leigh DeMarcus, on Friday afternoon, with the tot weighing in at a healthy six pounds, nine ounces (3.1 kilograms).
DeMarcus announced the happy news in a post on his Twitter.com page, writing, "It’s true! Madeline Leigh DeMarcus was born yesterday at 4:49pm. She weighed 6 lbs, 9 oz… Ali and I are so excited!" The new addition comes just months after DeMarcus’ bandmate Joe Don Rooney welcomed a daughter.
DeMarcus married the former beauty queen in 2004, after they met on the set of one of the band’s videos.

Pop punks PARAMORE have lost two members following the departure of brothers JOSH and ZAC FARRO.
Guitarist Josh and his drummer brother founded the group with singer Hayley Williams and bassist Jeremy Davis back in 2004, and they went on to carve out a successful music career with the band.
Josh sat out one of Paramore’s tours earlier this year (10) to spend more time with his fiancee ahead of their wedding, while Zac recently admitted he desperately misses his family while on the road.
Now the band has confirmed both rockers quit after their show in Orlando, Florida last Sunday (12Dec10).
A statement posted on the Paramore website reads, "A couple of months ago, Josh and Zac let us know they would be leaving the band after our show in Orlando last Sunday. None of us were really shocked. For the last year it hasn’t seemed as if they wanted to be around anymore.
"We want Josh and Zac to do something that makes them happy and if that isn’t here with us, then we support them finding happiness elsewhere." And the remaining members, Williams, Davis, and Taylor York, insist the brothers’ departure does not spell the end of the band, adding, "We never for a second thought about leaving any of this behind. We really hope that you can be encouraged by the fact that the three of us who are still here are ready to take on another chapter of our journey together."

Snow-stranded actress/singer TAYLOR MOMSEN is considering renting a car and driving from Germany to Holland in a bid to catch a flight back to her native U.S. for Christmas.
The Gossip Girl star completed a tour with her band The Pretty Reckless with a final gig in Cologne, Germany on Friday night (17Dec10).
She planned to jet back to America on Saturday (18Dec10) but her flight was cancelled as heavy snow closed airports across Europe.
Momsen spent an extra night in Cologne and hoped to travel back on Sunday (19Dec10), but flights remain grounded and she is now considering a mammoth drive to Amsterdam in a desperate bid to get home for the holidays.
In a series of posts on Twitter.com, she writes, "Still in Germany… maybe it’s time for a proper vacation, we’re thinking of renting a car and going to Amsterdam, oh, yup… So either drive to Amsterdam, fly to Miami, fly to Dublin or stay in Germany… hmmm…"

SIENNA MILLER and JUDE LAW have sealed their revived romance by purchasing a luxurious London home together, according to a U.K. report.
The Alfie co-stars called off their engagement in 2006 shortly after Law’s alleged affair with his children’s nanny was exposed in the tabloids, but they reunited last year (09) and went public with their rekindled relationship in May (10).

British actress SOPHIE OKONEDO was left red-faced during a ceremony at Buckingham Palace after dropping her Order of the British Empire (OBE) medal in front of PRINCE CHARLES.
The Hotel Rwanda star was presented with the honour at the royal residence in London on Friday (17Dec10) by Charles, Prince of Wales, but the ceremony ended in embarrassment for the 41 year old.
Just moments after the Prince pinned the medal to her dress, the catch came loose and the prize fell to the ground, leaving Okonedo scrambling to retrieve it in front of the baffled royal - and the moment was captured on camera.
She said after the ceremony, "It feels good to get the OBE, but I dropped it on the floor!"

British rocker PETE DOHERTY is facing the possibility he will be re-interviewed by police over the death of an actor at a party he attended in 2006 after cops re-opened the investigation.
Mark Blanco toppled from the railings of an apartment block in east London in December 2006 after he was thrown out of a bash attended by The Libertines frontman.
Police officials ruled out suspicious circumstances, insisting Blanco had either committed suicide or plunged to his death as he tried to jump onto a nearby lamp-post, but the actor’s mother Sheila was unsatisfied with the findings and has long called for the probe to be re-opened.
The investigation has now been re-launched, according to Britain’s Daily Mail, with a police source telling the publication, "(It will be) a meticulous search for the truth… A number of individuals who were at the party will have to be interviewed." It is not yet known whether Doherty will be asked to help police with their inquiries.

LINDSAY LOHAN’s father has confirmed the actress has been moved to a new rehab facility amid fears for her safety.
The Mean Girls star has been enrolled at California’s Betty Ford clinic since October (10) when a judge ordered her to complete three months of treatment for violating her probation stemming from a DUI arrest.
The actress was rumoured to have left the facility this week (beg13Dec10) following reports she has been receiving strange phone calls, with Britney Spears’ former manager/companion Sam Lutfi alleged to have been in contact with her.
But Lohan’s father Michael has dismissed allegations Lutfi was the reason for her move - revealing "two other individuals" led to the switch.
He tells Hollyscoop, "When I heard that Sam texted Lindsay I told him to stop IMMEDIATELY… (But) Sam is NOT the reason Lindsay was moved. It was two other individuals that caused her to move for her safety…" No further details were available as WENN went to press.

TAYLOR MOMSEN has apologised to fans in Glasgow after an on-stage blunder which saw her booed for calling the Scottish city the "craziest… in all of England".
The actress/singer performed with her band The Pretty Reckless in Glasgow on Monday (13Dec10), but the concert fell flat when the Gossip Girl star got her geography wrong.
She told the audience, "Glasgow you are looking good tonight. We are The Pretty Reckless and we have heard Glasgow is the craziest crowd in all of England." The comment drew jeers and boos from the riled crowd, with student Paul Krane telling Scotland’s Daily Record newspaper, "The noise from the crowd was deafening. People began to cheer as they presumed she was going to say Scotland, but when the penny dropped (when they realised) all you could hear was boos." Momsen didn’t realise her blunder until after the gig and she posted a message on her Twitter.com page to apologise.
She writes, "Glasgow, I love you, I now HAVE to tour SCOTLAND (haha, sorry about the slip up!)."
