AVENGED SEVENFOLD ‘NOT READY’ TO FIND PERMANENT REPLACEMENT DRUMMER

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:16 pm

Rockers AVENGED SEVENFOLD have cast doubt on whether they will ever fill the void left by tragic drummer JIMMY ‘THE REV’ SULLIVAN, insisting they’re "not ready" to face a future with a permanent replacement.
The band members were left devastated when Sullivan died from a drug overdose in December 2009 and they subsequently hired Mike Portnoy as a temporary stand-in for their summer (10) concerts.
They parted ways with the former Dream Theater star last week (ends17Dec10) and the rockers have now explained the reasons behind their decision.
In a statement, the band says, "We’re not ready to add a permanent member - and we don’t know if we’ll ever be. If we do, it will be someone who’s not only a brilliant drummer but someone we’ve gotten to know well, and who the fans get to know and hopefully accept.
"Mike and the band agree it can’t be him. Why? Long before there was an Avenged Sevenfold there were members of this band who looked up to Mike.
"Jimmy learned a lot from watching Mike play. He’s also a brilliant writer and producer. But because of all that, the world would always see it as Avenged Sevenfold with Mike Portnoy." Avenged Sevenfold’s manager, Larry Jacobson, reveals they were driven to cut ties with Portnoy because they feared he was getting too comfortable with the group - even though it was made clear from the start that he would only be a temporary addition to the band.
He tells RockAAA.com, "The plan had always been for Mike to play through 2010. Nothing changed, but it got confusing because Mike gave interviews suggesting he might tour with the band beyond 2010.
"There will be another drummer behind the kit for the Nightmare After Christmas tour in January and many other dates round the world in 2011 and beyond."

SPIDER-MAN MUSICAL DELAYED TO ALLOW ADDITION OF ‘NEW IDEAS’

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:13 pm

The official opening of troubled Broadway musical SPIDER-MAN: TURN OFF THE DARK was postponed to allow director JULIE TAYMOR to incorporate "new ideas" into the storyline, according to producer MICHAEL COHL.
The show has suffered a number of setbacks since it began preview performances in November (10), with a series of onset accidents and further safety inspections forcing producers to push back the launch date until January (11).
On Friday (17Dec10) it was revealed the big-budget play would be delayed once more, opening in February (11) instead.
But producer Cohl has defended the decision to postpone the grand opening, insisting it was necessary to give Taymor adequate time to revamp certain aspects of the show.
He tells Rolling Stone, "It was a culmination of reasons. This is a continuing process. We’re previewing, which takes away from our time to iron out wrinkles and put other things in.
"(Taymor had) some great new ideas over the last two or three weeks. We said, ‘Yeah, let’s put them in.’ "But if it takes a week for everybody to figure things out and put them in the show, well, we don’t have that many rehearsal hours between now and January 11th." Cohl adds that the new launch date will give the musical’s composers, U2 rockers Bono and The Edge, time to perfect the sound as they’ve had to skip previews due to tour commitments in Australia.
He adds, "They couldn’t be here to work on the songs, and tweak things in the sound. So we turned it into a positive rather than a negative. If we delay it for a month, Bono and Edge will be back from Australia, and Julie can get everything done that she wants." Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark will now open on 7 February (11).

USHER FAN APOLOGISES FOR KICKING HIM IN THE FACE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:19 pm

The fan who accidentally kicked USHER in the face with her shoe during his New York concert last week (13Dec10) has issued a public apology to the pop superstar.
The Yeah! hitmaker thrilled one lucky female audience member by inviting her to join him onstage at Madison Square Garden last Monday night.

Usher laughed off the incident and insisted he was fine, quipping, "We play rough in the bed… We kick each other in the face and all that good stuff!" But Donnetia Rabb, 35, admits she feels guilty about the incident, insisting she "never intended to kick him in the face, much less draw attention to such a mishap during the evening of an amazing performance".
In a statement addressed to Usher and issued via Usmagazine.com, she adds: "I would like to extend my sincerest apology to you and all of your fans. The concert was one of the most enjoyable and entertaining that I have ever attended. I do hope that my over excited, once in a lifetime moment did not leave you with any marks or even as much as a headache."

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:13 pm

Country star SHANIA TWAIN is set to wed for the second time - the singer is engaged to businessman FREDERIC THIEBAUD.
Twain’s spokesperson has confirmed to Usmagazine.com that the businessman, a Nestle executive, popped the question about two months ago (Oct10) in his native Switzerland.
The singer appeared to confirm the reports when she stepped out for lunch with Thiebaud in New York on Thursday (16Dec10), wearing what appeared to be an engagement ring on her left hand.

HARRIS SOLVES DAUGHTER’S DIGESTIVE PROBLEMS WITH FRESH BREASTMILK

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:13 pm

Comedian NEIL PATRICK HARRIS and his partner DAVID BURTKA have to have fresh breastmilk shipped to their Los Angeles home every week because their newborn daughter struggles to digest baby formula.
The couple welcomed twins Harper Grace and Gideon Scott via surrogate in October (10), but the star admits feeding time for their baby girl has been far from smooth and they’ve had to resort to a special milk bank to give the tot the nutrition she needs.
Harris says, "Harper was very fussy… she was always in a state of angst. So we switched formulas a couple of times and now we’re having to have breastmilk brought in.
"You have to have breastmilk shipped in. I think it’s a racket (farce). Seriously, if someone is in Santa Monica - down the street and wants to provide milk - it has to go on a plane to San Jose and get fertilised and pasteurised and boiled and whatever happens in little bottles." And the special feeding requirement has cost the How I Met Your Mother star dear: "They charge a fortune! It cost more for breastmilk than sushi! I like sushi and it’s not inexpensive, but you at least figure, alright, they have to go that morning and get the fish and there’s a lot of labour involved… you know, you stick a thing on her hee-haw (nipple) and it just sucks out some milk and they’re charging a fortune!"

ACTRESS HENNER HAS RARE MEMORY CONDITION

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:10 pm

TAXI actress MARILU HENNER has been hiding an incredibly rare superpower - she has a medical condition which enables her to remember almost every day of her life in vivid detail.
The star, 58, is one of few people in the world with superior autobiographical memory, which was first diagnosed by neurobiologist James McGaugh in 2006.
Henner was unaware of the official term for the abnormal ability until her close friend, TV journalist Lesley Stahl, began researching it for a case study about violinist Louise Owen on U.S. news show 60 Minutes - and realised the similarities between the musician and the actress’ conditions.
Stahl says, "When I first heard about this research, what surprised me was not that this condition existed, but that it was considered so rare. That’s because it sounded like a description of a friend of mine." Interviewed on 60 Minutes, which aired on Sunday (19Dec10), Henner tells Stahl, "I can rattle off almost every time I’ve seen you… It’s like putting in a DVD and it queues up to a certain place. I’m there again, so I’m looking out from my eyes and seeing things visually as I would have that day."

BLUNT FOUND CGI WORK ‘HELL’

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:10 pm

British actress EMILY BLUNT found it "hell" working against green screens for her new adventure film GULLIVER’S TRAVELS because she exhausted her imagination with the "tedious" and "confusing" process.
The Devil Wears Prada star appears alongside Jack Black and Jason Segel in the big screen adaptation of Jonathan Swift’s fantasy tale, but Blunt struggled through production because the movie relies heavily on special computer-generated imagery (CGI) effects to bring the island of Liliput to life.
She tells Access Hollywood, "(It is) hell. I find it really tedious and confusing. You’re like begging a tennis ball on a pole for help and crying! I think that’s (the moment) when you’re like, ‘Oh wow. This takes a lot of imagination!’" But Blunt insists having Black and Segel on hand to provide a few laughs in between takes definitely helped to lift her spirits.
She says, "Heaven - they’re so much fun. I mean, they’re too much fun! It almost ruins you for other actors, you know? They’re really delightful and sweet, and it was just like a comedy fest on that set."
