AVATAR has been named the most pirated film of 2010.
James Cameron’s sci-fi epic - the most successful film of all time with gross takings of $2.7 billion - was downloaded illegally 16.6 million times, according to TorrentFreak.com.
Kick-Ass was second with 11.4 million downloads and Leonardo DiCaprio’s films Inception and Shutter Island were third and fourth respectively.

The latest disaster for the SPIDER-MAN musical, which saw an actor seriously injured on-stage during a preview performance, has been blamed on "human error".
The beleaguered Broadway show Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark has been blighted by a series of setbacks - previews finally began in November (10) after months of problems and rigorous safety checks, but the opening show was halted throughout as stunts went wrong.
Producers then decided to push back the official opening until February (10) to incorporate "new ideas", but another preview on Monday (20Dec10) ended in disaster as the show was cut short following a horrific accident.
Stunt double Christopher Tierney was taken to New York’s Bellevue Hospital for treatment after he tumbled from a platform above the stage. It was later revealed he had broken several ribs, with reports blaming the incident on snapped cables.
But following an investigation by the Actors’ Equity Association, the real reason behind the accident was revealed to be an error on the stage crew’s part.
A statement from the organisation reads, "Actors’ Equity Association worked today with the Department of Labor, OSHA and the production to determine that the cause of the accident at last night’s performance of Spiderman (sic) was, in fact, human error." Tierney is the latest person to be injured during the run - actress Natalie Mendoza suffered concussion on the first night of previews when a rope broke and hit her on the head, and another Spider-Man stuntman, Kevin Aubin, broke both wrists during rehearsals in October (10).

Actor SEAN BEAN has officially ended his fourth marriage - his divorce was granted by a London judge on Tuesday (21Dec10).
The Lord of the Rings star wed fourth wife Georgina Sutcliffe in February 2008, but their union was marred within months of the marriage when Bean was arrested over allegations an argument between the pair turned violent.
They enjoyed a short-lived reunion but decided to separate for good over the summer (10).
Sutcliffe filed for divorce citing the actor’s "unreasonable behaviour" and alleged the British hunk is "unbearable" to live with.
And on Tuesday a judge agreed to end their marriage after just two years when the pair was handed a decree nisi at the High Court in London.

BRITTANY MURPHY’s mother sometimes "pretends" the actress is still alive - because she struggles to accept the tragic star’s "strange" passing a year after her death.
The Clueless star died suddenly on 20 December, 2009 after suffering a cardiac arrest at her Hollywood Hills home and her widower, filmmaker Simon Monjack, passed away just five months later.
Both husband and wife died of pneumonia combined with anaemia, and Sharon Murphy admits she’s yet to come to terms with the double tragedy.
She has found it so difficult to cope on her own, every day is a battle to resume some sort of normalcy.
She tells In Touch Weekly, "Every day is difficult. It’s still a challenge to get out of bed and put one foot in front of the other.
"It’s (the two deaths are) beyond strange. Sometimes, just in order to function, I pretend it didn’t happen." Sharon finds comfort in reliving happier times in her life - and she insists on staying put at the Beverly Hills mansion her daughter died in because she feels closer to the late star.
She says, "I’m always remembering times with her. She would always say that we grew up together, and that’s true. We were so close, and such great friends… I feel their presence here. It’s comforting."

BLACK EYED PEAS star will.i.am still can’t believe his group have been picked to perform at the 2011 Super Bowl after a long list of legends like TOM PETTY, PAUL MCCARTNEY, THE WHO and BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN.
A big American football fan, the pop superstar has been present for the big game in recent years - and he has marvelled at the half-time performances.
In February (11), he and his R&B act will join the list of fabled performers when the Black Eyed Peas hit the stage in Texas - and he’s still pinching himself.

BEN STILLER has a lot of family and personal history to draw from as he prepares to star in THE HOUSE OF BLUE LEAVES on Broadway - his mother created one of the lead characters 40 years ago and he got his big break in the play.
The funnyman hits the stage opposite Edie Falco and Jennifer Jason Leigh in John Guare’s black comedy in the spring (11) and he admits the production means a lot to him.
He explains, "My mother was in the original production in 1971, as Bunny Flingus, and the first job I ever got in 1985 was playing the son, Ronnie Shaughnessy, in the play.
"So now, to come back and play the father Artie Shaughnessy, it’s kind of come full circle in that way. My relationship with John has been so long; I’m looking forward to it. It’s something I never really thought about doing until the idea got presented to me. I really am a fan of the director and I’m excited to delve into it."

HARRISON FORD’s publicist has dismissed reports the actor’s beloved adventurer character INDIANA JONES is set to be killed off in the next movie.
Ford reprised his role as the heroic archaeologist in 2008’s Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, which hit cinemas nearly 20 years after 1989’s Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.
In the film, Jones teamed up with his son, played by Shia LaBeouf, who has been tipped to replace Ford in the adventure movie franchise.
A follow-up is planned for 2012, and insiders claim Ford’s iconic character will be killed off.
However, a rep for Ford has simply dismissed the speculation, insisting the reports are "false".

Actress BLYTHE DANNER has heaped praise on her daughter GWYNETH PALTROW’s parenting skills, insisting she’s a much better mum than she was.
The Meet The Parents star tells WENN her daughter is an "extraordinary" mother with two "very wise little ones".
She says, "She’s a much more patient mother than I was. When she had children she was just completely devoted to that and listens to them and talks to them.
"They never have temper tantrums because she knows how to sweep them aside and talk to them and they listen. She’s very rational and I just admire it. I just don’t know how she does it really. It just puts me to shame that I wasn’t better at it.
"They’re very wise little ones. Beloved British indie rock veteran MARK E. SMITH once turned down the chance to be a contestant on reality show I’M A CELEBRITY… GET ME OUT OF HERE.
The Fall frontman tells TheQuietus.com TV producers approached him and asked him if he’d be interested in replacing punk icon John Lydon when the Sex Pistols star walked off the show in 2004.
Smith says, "The bloke from the jungle comes in and says, ‘Johnny Lydon’s just left the jungle, do you want to replace him?’ but I said no." Actor JAKE GYLLENHAAL showered his rumoured girlfriend TAYLOR SWIFT with diamonds on her 21st birthday - he bought her a stunning $100,000 (£66,670) white gold bracelet.

BADLY DRAWN BOY star DAMON GOUGH has apologised to fans for his onstage meltdown at a concert in Los Angeles last week (16Dec10).
The British musician launched into a foul-mouthed rant and stormed offstage four songs into his set at the Troubadour last Thursday night, leaving fans baffled and upset.
But, in a video message to fans posted on his Facebook page on Tuesday (21Dec10), Gough insists he’s truly sorry for losing his temper.
He says, "I can start by saying that there is no one more upset by this situation than myself. As an artist you only want to do the job to the best of your ability… When that is compromised there is a tendency to get frustrated." Concertgoers reports the show was plagued with sound problems and when hecklers began to berate the star from the audience, he lost his cool.
Gough adds, "I don’t feel I owe an apology to those who heckled but I want to profusely apologise to those caught in the crossfire, especially a guy who had to leave with his young daughter and all of you who stuck by me to help turn things around."

BRET MICHAELS’ proposal to his new fiancee KRISTI GIBSON didn’t occur quite like he had planned - he popped the question spontaneously instead of asking for her hand in marriage in a romantic setting "like the movies".
The Poison frontman became engaged to his on/off girlfriend of 16 years during the final episode of his reality TV show, Bret Michaels: Life as I Know It, which aired in America on Monday night (20Dec10).
On the programme, they were seen sharing a heart-to-heart about the future when he said, "I want you to know that I love you, and you’ve been unbelievably a big part of my life and we have two beautiful girls together. I know we love and respect each other and I hope we can find that inner love that we can have forever. I want you to be my wife." But Michaels admits the big moment was nothing like he had imagined - he had simply let his emotions guide him to find the perfect time.
He tells People.com, "In my mind, it wasn’t supposed to happen like that - I wanted it to be a little more like the movies, where the white horse gallops up and all that stuff.
"But when Kristi said, ‘I don’t need this ring, I don’t need the piece of paper, I love you no matter what,’ she took the pressure off.
"She used reverse psychology on me - and it worked!"

Country legend HANK WILLIAMS JR’s daughter HILARY has recalled the moment she died after a near-fatal car accident in a heartbreaking new autobiography.
The singer-songwriter’s memoirs, Sign of Life, opens with her account of the 2006 accident, which left her needing 23 surgeries.
The car she was driving slid off a freeway in Mississippi and when emergency medics first arrived on the scene, they felt sure no one could have survived the wreck.
In an excerpt from the book, printed on country music news website CMT.com, Williams recalls, "The EMTs pointed to me. They kneeled down next to me, asked me my name, and one nurse checked me from the toes up while the other checked me from the head down. I kept closing my eyes and as they worked… They kept saying, ‘Hilary! Stay with us, now…’ "Every time I heard my name, I’d open my eyes and try to smile… I’d lost six pints of blood and, as I lay there, my blood pressure dropped to 55/0. I was between stage 2 and stage 3 of hypoglycemic shock. I was suddenly overcome by panic and the intense feeling that my chest was caving in and about to collapse. It was like being in a pool drowning.
"That’s when I lost consciousness. Then, as the paramedics worked to bring me back, I came out of my body, softly and peacefully. Slowly, my spirit lifted, and soon it was as if I was hovering over the scene looking down on the cars and people below. The feeling of panic and all the pain I felt was gone. I was calm as I watched all the activity around the ambulance and the helicopters. I felt completely peaceful… the most joyful feeling I have ever known.
"An angel took my hand and I looked up and saw this amazing gold mansion that looked like it was trimmed with icing, like an enormous birthday cake. It was sparkling, gleaming, and glittering. I can’t begin to describe the vibrant, kaleidoscope colors I saw. It was so crazy.
"Then I saw Merle Kilgore, my dad’s best friend and manager who passed away the year before. Merle was a hilarious, happy-go-lucky guy who had lived an incredible life… he looked wonderful - not sickly like he did during the months before he died from lung cancer. Here he was right in front of me, smiling and slapping his leg.
"Then I saw Johnny and June Carter Cash, my dad’s godparents. Johnny was playing the guitar and June was playing the harpsichord… It felt so good to see them; there was such an overwhelming feeling of love.
"While still trying to comprehend what was happening to me, I looked over and was stunned to see my grandparents, Hank and Audrey, slowly walking toward me. Both Hank and Audrey died before I was born (in Grandpa Hank’s case, long before I was born). I’d never met them on earth but I recognised them right away. I knew them. They looked really young and beautiful…They walked up to me with big smiles on their faces, and one by one, they each gave me a long hug. I felt absolutely elated.
"Then, Hank put his arm around Audrey and they slowly turned and walked away. As I watched them go, I knew I wouldn’t be going with them. Then, as quickly as it lifted, my spirit came back down and I returned to my body."

Beloved TV cowboy JAMES DRURY pulled out of his recent induction into the Atlanta Country Music Hall of Fame in Georgia after learning he needed surgery to remove precancerous growths from his colon and oesophagus.
The Virginian star, 76, is determined to beat the disease but admits the diagnosis came as a shock.
He tells the Globe, "I thought I had the flu. I’ve got an issue with my oesophagus - there are some cells at the bottom of it that are evolving. They could become cancerous, so they’ve got to go in there and take them off. I’ve got that and a colonoscopy coming up."

AARON ECKHART learned about his fate in the next BATMAN movie during a chance encounter with director CHRISTOPHER NOLAN on a stormy beach.
The actor, who played Harvey Dent/Two Face in the acclaimed The Dark Knight was running along a deserted stretch of beach in Malibu, California on a recent stormy day when he encountered Nolan and decided to ask him if his dastardly character would be making a return to the Batman franchise.
Eckhart explains, "There was nobody on the beach and there was one figure that was coming closer and closer and it looked like he was dressed in a suit and as I got closer… I stopped and said, ‘Chris, what are you doing here?’ It was Chris Nolan.
"I said, ‘What are you doing?’ and he said, ‘I’m working on the new script’. I said, ‘That’s interesting because a lot of people are asking me if I’m in the next script,’ and he looked at me and he said, ‘No,’ so I ran the other way… I didn’t feel like arguing with him."

MEL GIBSON has put his COSTA RICA estate on the market for $35 million (£23.3 million) - because it has become too well known.
The Braveheart star bought the sprawling holiday retreat in 2007 for $25.8 million (£17.2 million) in a bid to get away from the paparazzi in Hollywood.
However, the troubled actor has decided to sell up because snappers are now following him there, according to the real estate agent in charge of selling the property.
Sandra Miller says, “He bought it for a getaway. Now he goes there and paparazzi follow him." The estate, which is named Hacienda Dorada, includes a seven-bedroom main house and two other homes with two bedrooms each.

GWYNETH PALTROW struggled to master the guitar for her role as a washed-up country singer in new film COUNTRY STRONG and at one point convinced herself she had cancer.
The actress admits she found playing the instrument difficult and when she started suffering cramps, shoulder and finger pain she feared for her health and asked her doctor for help.
She tells WENN, "My fingers wouldn’t respond to the signals my brain was giving them. I thought, ‘I must have all these atrophied muscles in my fingers!’ "I had bleeding fingers and cramps in my hands and shoulder problems. I was like, ‘I think I have cancer!’" She felt stupid when she learned the truth: "I went to the doctor and I had just pulled a muscle in my arm. It was a disaster. What a nerd!"

KELLY OSBOURNE has fired back at reports suggesting her mum doesn’t approve of her new friendship with MILEY CYRUS, insisting nothing could be further from the truth.
The reality TV star and the teen pop icon have become firm friends of late and tabloid reports have suggested Sharon Osbourne was keen to break them up.
But Kelly insists her mum actually approves of the blossoming friendship, and she has taken to Twitter.com to defend her pal.
Osbourne writes, "Just read in the rags that apparently my mum thinks Miley is a bad influence on me it could not be father (sic) from the truth! "Actually it’s the other way around. Miley has us all on a health kick. Gym/early nights There (sic) really scraping the barrel on that one! "This really makes me mad. Miley is one of the most hard working respectful women I have ever worked with I am learning a lot from her! Miley and I have become really close. I’m sick of all the haters judging her she made one mistake and trust me she has learned her lesson!" The mistake Osbourne refers to surrounds recently published photos of a smiling Cyrus smoking from a bong.
