LOHAN’S MOTHER BACKS BETTY FORD

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:46 pm

LINDSAY LOHAN’s mother is standing by the staff at the Betty Ford rehab clinic in California after an incident with an employee prompted her famous daughter to move to another treatment centre.
The Mean Girls star is currently serving three months of court-ordered treatment after breaching her probation relating to a 2007 DUI arrest.
She had been enrolled at California’s famous Betty Ford clinic, but changed to another facility earlier this month (Dec10) after allegedly clashing with a staff member. A police investigation into the alleged incident is underway and the employee in question was subsequently dismissed for talking to the press.
But Lohan’s mother Dina is adamant her daughter’s dramatic exit from the facility does not reflect the rest of her stay there, insisting the staff have been "fabulous" and have "really helped" the actress.
She tells TMZ.com, "With all the fabulous employees they have (at Betty Ford), it’s unfortunate that someone with this kind of background gets through. I stand behind Betty Ford. It is such a fabulous facility. They have been nothing but great. They really helped my daughter and changed my life, too."

BECKHAMS AND BUNTON CELEBRATE CHRISTMAS WITH RAMSAY

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:46 pm

GORDON RAMSAY put his personal problems behind him on Wednesday (22Dec10) to host a Christmas party for his celebrity pals, including DAVID and VICTORIA BECKHAM and pregnant EMMA BUNTON.
The British chef has endured a turbulent 2010 which has seen his business empire struggling to recover from serious financial problems and hit with numerous lawsuits over allegedly unpaid bills and massive tax demands.
Ramsay also fell out with his wife’s father Chris Hutcheson after the businessman left his post as CEO of Gordon Ramsay Holdings (GRH). Hutcheson is now suing his son-in-law for $3 million (£2 million) and the family feud has played out in the press.
But the star is refusing to let his recent family and business troubles affect his fun festive season - he and his wife Tana put on a united front by hosting a lavish dinner party at their London home this week (beg20Dec10), Guests included the Beckhams, singer Bunton and her partner Jade Jones, and British funnyman James Corden and his pregnant girlfriend Julia Carey.

INVESTIGATION LAUNCHED AT LOHAN REHAB CLINIC

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:43 pm

Public health officials in California have launched an investigation into the rehab clinic where LINDSAY LOHAN received treatment, following allegations a staff member breached policy by revealing patient details to the press.
The Mean Girls star is currently serving three months of court-ordered treatment for a probation violation and she was enrolled at California’s famous Betty Ford centre until earlier this month (Dec10) when she moved to another facility.
The switch came after an alleged clash with an employee, who was later fired for giving details about the incident to the media.
It has now been revealed that officials at the California Department of Public Health have launched a probe into the Betty Ford clinic, although the agency has not confirmed whether the investigation is linked to Lohan’s case.
The Associated Press reports the former employee’s interview with website TMZ.com could violate state and federal medical privacy laws.
Lohan’s mother Dina has since spoken out about her daughter’s stay at Betty Ford, insisting staff at the centre were "fabulous" and "really helped" the actress.

FOXX’S STAR DUETS DOWN TO DAUGHTER’S ADVICE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:43 pm

JAMIE FOXX credits his teenage daughter with guiding his music career, because she encouraged him to work with younger artists including DRAKE and SOULJA BOY.
The singer/actor released Best Night of My Life earlier this month (Dec10) and admits his new sound was inspired by his daughter Corinne.
He tells the Associated Press, "When I first started, I was doing this little slow music, like R&B, and my daughter walked in and said, ‘What you doing?’ and I said, ‘I’m working on my album’. She said, ‘I hope you don’t put that on there, you gonna put everyone to sleep’." Following the comment from the 15 year old, Foxx decided to approach younger artists, including Drake, Soulja Boy and T.I., for collaborations - and he’s convinced they’ve helped revolutionise his sound.
He adds, "She said listen… reach out, so I reached out to these young cats and they really allowed me to keep the integrity… they said here’s how we simplify it, here’s how we get it in the club, here’s how we make it relevant to have it played on the radio.
"People like Drake were really instrumental in doing that and a lot of times in order to be successful in music you have to listen and allow other people to steer you in the right direction."

DAMON ALBARN has fuelled speculation his band GORILLAZ won’t return after a planned hiatus by bidding farewell to fans at the final gig of the group’s world tour in New Zealand.

O’CONNOR DEMANDS ANSWERS OVER POPE’S CHILD ABUSE COMMENTS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:37 pm

Singer SINEAD O’CONNOR has written a letter to POPE BENEDICT XVI urging him to explain his recent comments about child abuse.
During his traditional Christmas speech in Rome on Monday (20Dec10), the Pontiff addressed the recent scandal of alleged paedophilia in the Catholic Church and angered campaigners by insisting child porn is starting to be considered "more normal by society".
He also remarked that paedophilia was "theorised as something fully in conformity" in the 1970s - and O’Connor has now penned an open letter demanding the religious leader explain his controversial comments, according to IrishCentral.com.
She writes, "Sir, Some burning questions arise from the following statement you made in your Christmas address to your cardinals on December 20 regarding how it came to pass that the house of the Holy Spirit became a haven for criminals of a sexual nature. (You said) ‘In the 1970s paedophilia was theorised as something fully in conformity with man and even with children.’ Please deign to respond to this letter directly and personally and put aside all the pomp and titles…
"Exactly who held the theory that paedophilia was fully in conformity with man and with children? Please give us their names. Exactly when did they hold this theory? Exactly when if ever did they cease holding the theory? Why was this information not given to victims? Why was it never given to any commissions of enquiry or civil authorities? Why in all the years since these scandals broke out was yesterday the first mention of this information? "It is highly disrespectful of the victims that you would throw this out as an aside remark and not present yourself for questioning on such a very serious piece of information which would be key in the potential recovery of the church." In 1992, O’Connor caused a storm when she ripped up a photo of Pope John Paul II on Saturday Night Live.

GERVAIS’ EMOTIONAL HOLIDAY SEASON

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:34 pm

RICKY GERVAIS always feels extra emotional at Christmas, because he spends the holiday season remembering lost loved ones.
The British funnyman lost both his parents in the early 2000s and he takes time out every year to visit his surviving relatives and honour the memory of those who have passed away.
And Gervais admits the sadness is sometimes overwhelming. In a message posted on the Wall Street Journal’s online blog, he writes, "(I will spend Christmas) eating and drinking too much with friends and family. Celebrating life and remembering those that did, but can no longer.
"They are not looking down on me but they live in my mind and heart more than they ever did probably. Some, I was lucky enough to bump into on this planet of six billion people. Others shared much of my genetic material. One selflessly did her best for me all my life. That’s what mums do though. They do it for no other reason than love… I am crying as I write this.
"It usually gets me this time of year. That’s what’s special about Christmas. It’s when you visit or reminisce about the ones you love. And reflect on how lucky you are. How they helped shape you." And the comic reveals his fondest memory of his late mum is when she took him to see The Jungle Book as a child.
He adds, "I haven’t seen the film for 40 years so I’m not sure how good it is but it’s still one of my fondest memories because it was a gift from my mum. My mum died when I was 40… But luckily 35 five years before, I’d learnt the bear necessities to get me through. Just like Baloo, she’s still with me."

COEN BROTHERS REFUSED TO WATCH WAYNE’S TRUE GRIT

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:34 pm

Moviemaking duo JOEL and ETHAN COEN deliberately avoided watching JOHN WAYNE’s iconic movie TRUE GRIT while making their own version of the story, to avoid copying the original.
America’s most famous cowboy won a Best Actor Oscar for his portrayal of one-eyed U.S. Marshal Reuben ‘Rooster’ J. Cogburn in the 1969 adaptation of Charles Portis’ novel.
The Cohen Brothers have brought the tale back to life in an acclaimed new movie, starring Jeff Bridges in Wayne’s Academy Award-winning role.
But the siblings admit neither of them watched the original movie before the cameras rolled.
Ethan tells Deadline.com, "It’s just a very funny book… It all just seemed promising material for a movie. Which might sound funny because, as you say, there was this iconic movie. Which we were aware of but which we didn’t remember very well…
"And in the course of remaking the movie, we didn’t watch the first one. We weren’t much worried about it, though. You say it’s iconic, and that’s very true. But on the other hand, I must say it’s probably iconic for people our age and older. And we’re not the moviegoing demographic anymore. I don’t think younger people have much of a connection to John Wayne, at all. So it didn’t feel like we were trespassing and we didn’t worry about it. We just had this enthusiasm for the novel."

HENDRICKS EYEING WONDER WOMAN ROLE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:31 pm

MAD MEN star CHRISTINA HENDRICKS is appealing to TV bosses to cast her in a small screen revamp of WONDER WOMAN because she has always wanted to play the sexy superhero.
Lynda Carter starred in The New Adventures of Wonder Woman, adapted from the classic DC Comic series, which aired in America from 1975 to 1979.
A 1990s remake was scrapped due to casting concerns over Carter’s successor but Ally McBeal creator David E. Kelley has signed a deal with Warner Bros. and DC Entertainment bosses to write and produce a revamped version.
Casting details have yet to be announced but busty beauty Hendricks has already been linked to the lead - and the actress admits she’d love the speculation to come true.
She says, "I heard that rumour too - I don’t know where it got started but I love it! "I’ve been wanting to wear that outfit my whole life! I’d love to (do it). That would be such fun! Let’s put it out there!"

NO POLITICAL MOVE FOR SPIELBERG

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:31 pm

A representative for STEVEN SPIELBERG has dismissed rumours the famed director is planning to swap Hollywood for Washington, D.C. with a move into politics.
The Jaws filmmaker was reported to have agreed to become an adviser to the Speaker of the United States House of Representatives, Nancy Pelosi.
An article published in The Washington Post suggested Spielberg would help on a political public relations campaign for Pelosi, but the director’s publicist Mavin Levy is adamant the story is not true.
Levy says, "Today’s story regarding Nancy Pelosi made a reference to Steven Spielberg that requires a response. I can say as a long-time spokesman for Steven that he has made it his career to direct actors, not political figures."

SPIDER-MAN STARS DEFEND SHOW

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:31 pm

Broadway’s SPIDER-MAN actor REEVE CARNEY has spoken out about the ambitious show’s ongoing safety problems, insisting he feels totally secure onstage.
The production has been blighted with problems since it opened for previews in September (10) and Wednesday night’s (22Dec10) performance was abruptly cancelled as producers and crew attempted to make sure there would be no more mishaps like the one that sent a stunt double to hospital on Monday (20Dec10) with shattered ribs and internal bleeding.
But the show’s star insists all will be well with Spider-Man when it returns to the stage.
Carney says, "It was an unfortunate event the other night, but the safety precautions have gone up even more since then and I’ve always felt safe." Patrick Page, who plays villain The Green Goblin in the musical also insists the show, which features a score composed by U2 stars Bono and The Edge, must go on.
He adds, "The injuries in our show are a terrible thing and no one wants to discount that at all but injuries in a big show are something that happens." Officials from New York’s Department of Labor are currently working with producers to make sure there are no more mishaps.
Insiders insist Thursday night’s (23Dec10) show will go ahead as planned.

HILTON’S HAIR EXTENSIONS CASE TRIMMED

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:31 pm

PARIS HILTON has won the first round in her legal tussle with a hair extensions company - a judge has forced the firm to drop a number of claims against the socialite.
Executives at Hairtech International Inc. filed a multi-million dollar lawsuit against the hotel heiress back in August (10) alleging she failed to properly endorse their products after she was signed up as the face of their Dream Catchers range in 2007.
Company bosses accused Hilton of breaking the terms of her deal by wearing extensions made by another company and failing to attend a launch party in 2007 after she was jailed for driving on a suspended licence while on probation for drink-driving.
The case went to court in Los Angeles last Friday (17Dec10) and Superior Court Judge Gregory Alarcon ruled Hairtech’s lawsuit did not properly substantiate a number of allegations against the star, and ordered the claims to be removed from the legal filing.
The judge wiped an allegation of fraud and ordered the firm’s lawyers to remove all references to Hilton’s wearing of competitors’ products.
The ruling also demands Hilton’s father Rick be removed as a co-defendant in the case.
Hairtech bosses can still proceed with their claim that Hilton breached her contract with her jail stint.
Hilton has filed a counter-suit against the company, alleging the firm failed to honour more than $1.7 million (£1.1 million) in guaranteed payments. A trial is scheduled to begin next November (11).
