Country star KEITH URBAN and his actress wife NICOLE KIDMAN are facing a dash back to their adopted Tennessee for Christmas after their flight was grounded with engine problems in Sydney, Australia on Thursday (23Dec10).
The celebrity Aussie couple had been celebrating the festive season with family and friends. They were hoping to jet home to Nashville with daughter Sunday Rose in plenty of time for Christmas but a problem onboard their Qantas jet forced them to make new plans.
A spokesperson for the airline says, "There was a vibration in one of the engines and the plane immediately rejected take-off, which is standard procedure in that situation." Kidman, Urban and their daughter departed the plane, returned to the airport and decided to return to the Oscar winner’s Sydney home rather than await a later flight.
The trio now hopes to make the trip to the U.S. on Christmas Eve (24Dec10), according to Britain’s Daily Mail.

GWYNETH PALTROW’s publicist has shot down reports the actress will perform onstage with her husband CHRIS MARTIN’s band COLDPLAY in Las Vegas on New Year’s Eve (31Dec10).
A New York Post report suggests the Oscar winner will join the Brits, rapper Jay-Z and his wife Beyonce for the finale of their Cosmopolitan hotel show, but the actress’ representative insists that although Paltrow will be in Sin City for the New Year celebrations, she has no plans to perform.
The rep says, "There’s absolutely no truth (to the rumour)." Martin and Paltrow rarely appear in public together and the New Year’s Eve gig get-together would be a real coup for fans of the couple who made it to the hot-ticket show.

RYAN REYNOLDS has filed for divorce from his wife of two years SCARLETT JOHANSSON.
The couple announced its separation earlier this month (Dec10), but sparked speculation of a reconciliation when they were spotted at dinner together in New York days later.
Now, The Proposal star has moved to end the marriage.
The 34 year old filed for divorce from Johansson, 26, on Thursday (23Dec10) in Los Angeles Superior Court. Johansson’s response was filed at the same time.
According to TMZ.com, neither party is looking for spousal support and their assets will be split.
They were married in a private ceremony in Canada in 2008.
Reynolds and Johansson issued a joint statement after confirming they had split. It read, "After long and careful consideration on both our parts, we’ve decided to end our marriage. We entered our relationship with love and it’s with love and kindness we leave it. While privacy isn’t expected, it’s certainly appreciated."

And Arnold feared something was wrong with his friend as he jetted off to Canada the day before the infamous incident - because Grant’s behaviour was odd.

PARIS HILTON’s ex-boyfriend DOUG REINHARDT is threatening legal action against a gossip website over allegations he is trying to sell a sex-tape he made with the heiress.
Rumours surfaced online earlier this week (begs20Dec10) suggesting Hilton had become the star of a second steamy home video while she was dating Reinhardt. The socialite previously starred in 2004’s racy 1 Night In Paris, which was shot by another ex, film producer Rick Salomon.
Reinhardt’s representative was quick to dismiss reports he was shopping around a tape, insisting "it doesn’t exist and never existed." And now the former The Hills star’s lawyers have fired off a cease and desist to gossip website ZackTaylor.ca, warning the blogger to remove his claims or face a lawsuit.
In the missive, the lawyers state the reports are "false in every respect and… defamatory to Mr. Reinhardt."

BEN STILLER and ROBERT DE NIRO’s movie comedy LITTLE FOCKERS looks set to celebrate Christmas (10) at the top of the U.S. box office after scoring a $7.2 million (£4.8 million) opening day on Wednesday (22Dec10).
Studio bosses at Universal expect the sequel to debut on Sunday (26Dec10) with $60 million (£40 million).

Rapper PRODIGY will mark his release from prison next year (11) by documenting his life story in an autobiography.
The star, real name Albert Johnson, will complete a three-year sentence for gun possession in February (11) and he will celebrate life as a free man with the April (11) release of his book, My Infamous Life: The Autobiography of Mobb Deep’s Prodigy.
The tome, co-written by author Laura Checkoway, will document his tough upbringing in New York, his rise to stardom with Mobb Deep group member Havoc, and the legal troubles which resulted in his latest imprisonment, according to AllHipHop.com.

Animal lover ELLEN DEGENERES has given America’s stray pets a Christmas boost by teaming up with bosses at dog food firm Halo to deliver one million meals to unwanted pooches.
The comedienne and TV personality launched a campaign to raise awareness about pet adoption with Halo bosses earlier this year (10) and now she’s making sure dogs awaiting homes get a good meal this Christmas.
She says, "At Halo we want to promote healthy living for pets and good food is a big part of that. So, we agreed to donate one million meals of Halo to shelter pets.
"I mean, imagine, an animal in a shelter, in a cage, lonely - a good meal is kinda all they have to look forward to, until you adopt them!"

Department of Labor officials in New York gave director JULIE TAYMOR and the producers of the ambitious SPIDER-MAN musical the all-clear to stage the production on Thursday night (23Dec10) following a mishap on Monday (20Dec10), which resulted in the hospitalisation of a stuntman.
Investigators spent much of Wednesday (22Dec10) and Thursday (23Dec10) sweeping through the show’s safety precautions and now DoL bosses insist they’re happy that the show is safe.
Stunt double Christopher Tierney was taken to hospital with broken ribs and internal bleeding after falling from the stage on Monday. Producers insisted human error was to blame for the accident. Tierney was the fourth cast member injured since the show opened.
DoL director of safety Maureen Cox says, "At this point we are satisfied they (producers) have put in place the appropriate controls. We’re also making sure that the actors and the stagehands know that if everything is not right, they can say, ‘We’re not going to go.’" The investigators have recommended that more stagehands are hired to make sure all safety harnesses for actors and stunt doubles onstage are checked before showtime.

HALLE BERRY was forced to postpone a meeting between her daughter NAHLA and her acting hero SIDNEY POITIER after paparazzi ruined the special get together.
The actress arranged to spend time with fellow Oscar winner Poitier earlier this month (Dec10) as part of a photoshoot and interview for The Hollywood Reporter - and she thought it would be nice for her young daughter to meet the man who had meant so much to her growing up.
But when photographers learned about the top secret meeting and showed up outside Poitier’s Beverly Hills home, they terrified the two-year-old and she had to be led away in tears by a nanny.
Berry tells the publication, "Sidney is part of our history. He’s a legend, and one day I knew she (Nahla) would thank me for allowing her to be in his presence.

The School of Rock star, who fronts rock duo Tenacious D, found he had natural bluegrass skills as he joined the Haden Family Band on the track Old Joe Clark for their album Rambling Boy in 2008.
Black’s wife Tanya Haden is jazz great Charlie Haden’s daughter, and he was thrilled to be asked to be a part of the project.

Troubled singer/actress DEMI LOVATO has reached a financial settlement with a dancer who accused the Disney star of punching her in the face.
Alex Welch threatened to sue Lovato earlier this month (Dec10) if she didn’t apologise for reportedly lashing out at her during an incident on a plane in October (10).
The dancer claimed the altercation left her with a black eye and a bruised cheekbone, and the fight is rumoured to have prompted Lovato to pull out of a world tour with the Jonas Brothers and check into rehab for undisclosed "emotional and physical issues".
Lawyers for both parties have been locked in negotiations to avoid a court showdown and they have now reached an agreement.
Welch’s attorney, Donald Karpel, tells TMZ.com, "The parties are satisfied and the dispute has been resolved amicably and completely." Details of the deal are confidential and have not been released to the press.

A man has been detained and questioned by Secret Service agents in Dallas, Texas after accidentally driving his car onto the front lawn of former U.S. President GEORGE W. BUSH’s property on Wednesday night (22Dec10).
The male, whose identity has not been released, claims he lost control of his Mercury Cougar, which rolled onto the grass in front of Bush’s residence in the gated Preston Hollow neighbourhood.
The politician and his wife Laura were home at the time of the incident but were never thought to be in any danger, according to Bush spokesman David Sherzer.
The man was interrogated by Secret Service officials and local police officers but he is not believed to have meant any harm.
