GARFIELD’S DOUBTS OVER THE SOCIAL NETWORK

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:13 pm

ANDREW GARFIELD nearly turned down the chance to star in THE SOCIAL NETWORK because he thought making a movie about Facebook was a "crazy" idea.
The British actor has received a Golden Globe nomination for his portrayal of Eduardo Saverin in the critically-acclaimed picture, which is tipped for success at the upcoming 2011 Oscars.
But Garfield admits he was reluctant to sign up at first because he couldn’t understand why anyone would want to make a film about a website.
He says, "I said, ‘A film about Facebook, really?’ I thought that makes absolutely no sense… My first reaction was the same as everyone else. I didn’t understand what that film could be. I had images of people typing for the most part!…
"But as soon as I knew David Fincher (director) and Aaron Sorkin (screenwriter) were involved I thought, ‘They’re pretty smart so maybe it’s not that crazy an idea’. I read the script and I was blown away." And Garfield admits he is pleased the film is being recognised during awards season, adding, "It’s very special that people have responded to it with positivity and passion. The response is icing on top of icing that tastes very sweet and very nice."

JACKMAN INJURED IN CRICKET STUNT

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:22 pm

HUGH JACKMAN was left nursing a painful groin injury after a TV cricket stunt with Australian bowler SHANE WARNE on Sunday (26Dec10) went wrong.
The Aussie actor turned out to watch his native country’s team’s battle with England in the latest test of The Ashes series in Melbourne and he went in to bat during a time-out TV segment with Warne.
But Jackman’s pride at playing with his cricket hero soon turned to pain when one of Warne’s bowls hit him in the groin. The X-Men star was seen doubled over, but was able to laugh off the incident in friendly banter with the sportsman.
Jackman said, "I didn’t pick it,’ while Warne cheekily replied, "Don’t rub ‘em, count ‘em." The actor is already nursing a bruised ego after crashing into a lighting rig when a zip-wire stunt for Oprah Winfrey’s TV show went wrong earlier this month (Dec10).

KIDMAN’S ‘DEEP FEAR’ AS AN OLDER MOTHER

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:22 pm

NICOLE KIDMAN has become a "totally different" mum to her daughter SUNDAY ROSE after first experiencing motherhood with her adopted kids with ex-husband TOM CRUISE - she has moments of "deep fear and emotion" as an older parent.
The Moulin Rouge! star welcomed Bella and Connor in to her family with Cruise in the 1990s, when she was in her 20s.
The couple subsequently split and Kidman has since wed singer Keith Urban. She gave birth to their daughter in 2008.
Kidman, now 43, admits motherhood later on in life is very different compared to how she raised Bella and Connor, who are now teenagers - but she’s convinced becoming a mum to little Sunday Rose has changed her for the better.
She tells Reuters, "I raised two kids when I was in my 20s, but that was a different thing. I was a kid and still so young mentally and emotionally - a totally different mom.
"There is something about mothering late in life. A lot of it is I want to stay alive for Sunday. There is plenty of deep fear and emotion. Sunday has healed an enormous amount in me. It’s a very private thing, but she just has."

BOYLE FACING FURTHER PROBE INTO PRICE SON JOKES

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:19 pm

Scottish funnyman FRANKIE BOYLE’s woes are worsening - he is facing a possible probe by a human rights watchdog over his jibes about model-turned-reality TV star KATIE PRICE’s disabled son.
The comedian made several gags about eight-year-old Harvey - who is blind and autistic - during his Tramadol Nights show on U.K. network Channel 4 earlier this month (Dec10).
Furious Price called in her lawyers and lodged a complaint with British broadcasting watchdog Ofcom - and now Boyle is facing claims his comments breached the Disability Discrimination Act.
Dr. Tom Pey, chief executive of the Royal London Society for Blind People, has written to officials at the Equality and Human Rights Commission demanding an investigation into Boyle’s comments.
He wrote, "It is of course legitimate to parody someone in the public eye… but it is quite another thing to mock a blind, autistic child, who is not in a position to fight back."

FORMER REHAB WORKER DROPS CHARGES AGAINST LOHAN

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:16 pm

A former rehab worker who accused LINDSAY LOHAN of lashing out at her has dropped a criminal complaint against the troubled actress.
Dawn Holland filed a report with cops earlier this month (Dec10) just hours after she claimed the Mean Girls star had shoved her in an altercation at California’s Betty Ford clinic.
Holland was subsequently fired from her job at the centre for talking to the press, and Lohan was moved to another facility to continue her three-month court-ordered treatment.
But the former rehab worker has now decided to drop her criminal complaint against the star, with her lawyer, Keith Davidson, telling TMZ.com his client does not want to see Lohan prosecuted.
He says, "A crime has quite simply not been committed by Ms Lohan… Dawn will not continue to press charges against Lindsay, nor will she be assisting any further in the investigation or prosecution. (She won’t) in any way shape or form to do anything that would violate Lindsay’s probation or cause an arrest." A police investigation was launched after the alleged incident.

SORUM SPOOKED BY HEADLESS GHOST IN HAUNTED STUDIO

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:16 pm

Rocker MATT SORUM had a scare when he first tested his producer skills at Hollywood’s haunted Studio 56 - the ghost of a decapitated man who had been killed outside let the VELVET REVOLVER star know his music wasn’t appreciated.
Sorum and engineer pal Jim Mitchell hired out the studio for a recording session with a band the drummer liked and they were spooked by a spectre who prompted them to flee.
Appearing on U.S. show Celebrity Ghost Stories, the former Guns N’ Roses star admits the encounter with the angry spirit is one that has made him a believer.
He recalls, "We recorded all the instruments and the vocals and guitars and what not, and at this point of the evening it was pretty late - about two o’clock in the morning. We started recording more lead vocals and as we were recording everything sounded fine… and then every time we played back the tape there was there was this low kind of a voice-rumbling sound.
"It was almost like a Gregorian kinda chant sound. We were like, ‘What is that?’ We eventually gave up and the band took off." Sorum and Mitchell were left alone in the control room listening back to what had been recorded when the engineer was pushed out of his chair by a mysterious force, which followed him to the restroom.
Sorum adds, "He (Mitchell) had this white, state-of-shock look on his face and he said, ‘I just saw a ghost… This guy walked behind me in the bathroom and then he disappeared. There was nobody there…’ He was starting to get pretty freaked out.
"We walked down the hallway to the lounge and we got right to the door… and a voice said, ‘Don’t come in here, you’re not invited…’ There was a presence there.
"Out of the left corner of my eye I saw this mast of air that looked like a small cloud floating across the room… I put my hand out and when I touched it, I backed off… It ran up my arm and down my body until the feeling came to me like ice.
"We were pretty freaked out so we made a quick descent… to the control room. We packed up and I thought, ‘I don’t think we’ll be coming back here because the studio is definitely haunted.’" Sorum later discovered he wasn’t the first star to encounter the studio ghost of the headless dead man who was found in a garbage bag behind the building in 1991.
He says, "They had had clients leave the premises because of strange events and all the employees quit… Studio 56 finally went out of business."

BOYLE PITIES YOUNG BURGLAR

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:13 pm

Scottish singing sensation SUSAN BOYLE has forgiven the teenage burglar who stole cash from her home.
The star returned to her house in West Lothian, Scotland in January (10) to find an intruder in the hallway. A 16-year-old youth later admitted a charge of theft for stealing $13.50 (£9) from the house, and was ordered to hand over $150 (£100) to Boyle’s chosen charity.
But the singer admits she pities the teenage thief - because he must have been "desperate" to turn to crime.
Boyle tells Britain’s Daily Record, "It was such a shame to find I’d been burgled but, apart from shaking me up a bit, nothing personal had been taken. It’s a shame that people get that desperate in life. It makes you realise how fortunate you are."
