ROURKE TO TACKLE RUGBY ROLE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 2:46 am

MICKEY ROURKE has confirmed he’s tackling a new movie role based on the true story of a gay rugby player.
The actor met up with Welsh sports ace Gareth Thomas over the summer (10), prompting rumours the pair was set to bring the athlete’s tale to the big screen - and the gossip is true.
Rourke says, "I read the story, it’s one of the toughest, hardest sports… and to be a man that plays rugby that is gay, to live with that secret for the amount of years Gareth had, to perform at the high level he performed at, it takes a lot of courage." And the Wrestler star admits he’s already in training to master Thomas’ Welsh accent.
Thomas hit headlines last year (09) when he became the first rugby union player to ‘come out’ as a gay man.

DOUGLAS TO RECEIVE PALM SPRINGS HONOUR

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:10 pm

MICHAEL DOUGLAS is set to receive a top honour at the upcoming Palm Springs International Film Festival in California.
The ailing actor will receive the Icon Award at a tribute on 13 January (11) as part of the festival’s Talking Pictures: The Contenders series, which focuses on Oscar front-runners.

Festival director Darryl MacDonald says, "We’re thrilled to have the opportunity to honour Michael Douglas at a time when both his creative prowess and his contributions to world cinema have never been more evident - or more deserving of celebration. Simply put, he’s an American treasure." The 22nd annual Palm Springs International Film Festival begins on 6 January (11).

PRANKSTER COMES CLEAN OVER DYLAN PIZZA JOKE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:10 pm

BOB DYLAN has been cleared in a pizza party mix-up - a prankster has come forward and confessed he was the guy who conned a Massachusetts parlour into handing over treats for an after show bash that never was.
The unnamed New Jersey man tricked the bosses of an Amherst pizza delivery firm into believing Dylan had chosen them to provide the catering after his nearby show on 20 November (10).
The prankster strolled into the parlour, flashed a backstage pass and ordered 178 of the shop’s largest gourmet pizzas, promising them a huge tip.
Local newspaper the Amherst Bulletin reports workers stayed up until dawn making the pizzas.
When the joker, posing as a Dylan crewmember, failed to pick the pizzas up, the police were called.
They managed to track down a likeness of the hoaxer, thanks to a video surveillance tape - and Dylan was quickly ruled out of the investigation.
Now, a lawyer for the New Jersey man has come forward and stated his client feels awful about the prank and has reached an agreement with the restaurant to repay some of the costs.
Amherst police have said they won’t file charges.

LOHAN UNHAPPY WITH HEARST CASTING IN MOVIE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:07 pm

LINDSAY LOHAN’s father has blasted casting reports heiress LYDIA HEARST SHAW is to play a character based on his daughter in a new TV movie, insisting the Hearsts have more problems than his family.
Model Shaw, 26, has been picked to play the lead in new film Dogs in Pocketbooks and Michael Lohan is not happy.
He insists his Long Island neighbour Shaw, the daughter of infamous Patty Hearst, should concentrate on playing members of her own family before signing on to perform as others.
He tells X17online.com, "If people are that fascinated with Lindsay and our family, then great. But the Hearsts have an interesting background themselves, and I’d think they’d want to do a movie on their own family.
"I don’t understand why… Lydia Hearst finds the need to make a movie about Lindsay and our family when the Hearst family probably has more drama than ours. Besides, how can you make a movie about a family when you don’t have the facts?" Lohan warns the filmmakers behind the project to tread carefully - or risk legal action.
He adds, "I smell more attorney fees brewing." Screenwriter Charles Castillo tells the New York Post, "Lydia will play a bratty movie goddess in and out of rehab, in trouble with the law, and hounded by greedy agents, predatory paparazzi, off-the-wall stalkers and crazed media - a role obviously based on Lindsay Lohan.
"I spent a lot of time casting for the right actress for this screwball comedy, but Lydia is perfect. She’s one of the few supermodels who can actually act. She’s smart, well-read, charming and very beautiful. We looked at a lot of actresses for this role, and I was really knocked out." Joan Collins is also reportedly onboard the project - as a Hollywood agent.
Hearst Shaw’s mum Patty gained notoriety in the 1970s when she was kidnapped by the Symbionese Liberation Army (SLA). She eventually joined her captors and was arrested and incarcerated for her part in a bank robbery.

VICTIM’S FAMILY BRANDS G-DEP AN ‘IDIOT’ FOR MURDER CONFESSION

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:07 pm

The family of the man killed by SEAN ‘DIDDY’ COMBS’ former protege G-DEP has taken aim at the rapper, branding him an "idiot" for confessing to the 17-year-old crime.
The hip-hop star, real name Trevell Coleman, surrendered to police earlier this month (Dec10) and confessed to the 1993 shooting of John Henkel.
The rapper was prompted to come forward as part of a 12-step programme to conquer his long-running battle with drug addiction, but he allegedly had no idea his victim had died following the incident and he has now been charged with Henkel’s murder.
But the victim’s stepbrother, Robert Henkel, insists the rapper was foolish for risking prison time by making the confession.
He tells the New York Post, "I think he’s an idiot. He has three kids and a wife. It was years and years and years ago. Finally, we’re not always thinking about it… and now it has to be dug up all again.
"His mother told him, ‘Don’t turn yourself in.’ She was right… After all this time, yes, he just should have shut up."

PEET’S AWFUL LONDON SCHOOLDAYS COME BACK TO HAUNT HER ON IRISH TRIP

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:04 pm

Actress AMANDA PEET has awful memories of her school days in England - she was made to eat "maggot infested" Spam.
The 2012 star has recently returned from Belfast, Ireland, where her eldest daughter Frankie went to school - and Peet can only hope the child won’t be as scarred by her own education experience overseas as she was.
The actress reveals she attended a London school with her sister when she was growing up and she’s still "traumatised" by the experience.
She says, "I went to a tiny little English school that was a little bit like (Charles Dickens novel) Oliver Twist or something.
"They would roll out this trolley in a dark basement room and it had three plates of food and you had to have a little bit of each and you had to finish your food.
"Sometimes my sister and I would be down there at, like, 3.30, and my mom’s waiting to pick us up from school but we are still eating the maggot-infested Spam… We found maggots in our lettuce." Peet admits the bad memories came flooding back when she went to look at schools for her daughter.
She adds, "When I went to look at this school, I got really tense because it looked like… the same kind of food.
"It was waffle with SpaghettiOs dumped on top of it and then crumbled fish fingers, which she (teacher) crumbled in her hands… and my brother-in-law’s an infectious diseases researcher… so all we talk about at the dinner table is how you contract anything.
"The food wasn’t so bad in the end, but, boy, I was like, ‘My daughter’s not going here’."

WEBBER PLANNING TO TAKE OZ TO KANSAS AFTER U.S. TALENT SEARCH

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:01 pm

ANDREW LLOYD WEBBER is in talks with U.S. TV executives over plans to bring his WIZARD OF OZ talent search to America.
The composer is hoping to launch a television casting show to find an unknown to play Dorothy in the musical - as he’s done in the U.K.
His U.K. show will launch in February (11) with newcomer Danielle Hope as his leading lady and Michael Crawford returning to the London stage.
He hopes his American TV talent search will prove to be healthy competition for Simon Cowell’s new U.S. X Factor show.
Lloyd Webber tells Britain’s Daily Telegraph newspaper, "A couple of the networks in the U.S. have wanted to build something around what I do on TV, and I think with Oz something is definitely going to happen there.
"The X Factor juggernaut is going to be huge there next year but other networks are looking for something to go against it. Once we’ve found a Dorothy in the U.S., my instinct is to open the show in Kansas (where the story is set)."

CHAMBERLAIN ADVISES GAY STARS NOT TO ‘COME OUT’

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:01 pm

Veteran actor RICHARD CHAMBERLAIN is urging gay actors not to follow in his footsteps by ‘coming out’ - insisting the admission has damaged his career.
The 76-year-old Dr. Kildare star revealed his homosexuality in his autobiography, Shattered Love, published in 2003.
Rumours about his sexual orientation had circulated for years, but he refused to discuss them over fears work would dry up.
Now he admits the confession wasn’t a good career move - and he’s advising young gay stars to stay ‘in the closet’.
He tells The Advocate, "There’s still a tremendous amount of homophobia in our culture. For an actor to be working (at all) is a kind of miracle, because most actors aren’t. So it’s just silly for a working actor to say, ‘Oh, I don’t care if anybody knows I’m gay’ - especially if you’re a leading man.
"Personally, I wouldn’t advise a gay leading man-type actor to come out… Despite all the wonderful advances that have been made, it’s still dangerous for an actor to talk about that in our extremely misguided culture."
