LEMMY BLAMES LAWYERS FOR ARTIST RIFT

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:25 pm

MOTORHEAD rocker LEMMY blames lawyers for his falling out with the band’s longterm artist JOE PETAGNO - insisting legal teams wrecked their partnership.
Petagno began working with the British group in 1975, and went on to create their famous ‘Snaggletooth’ logo and design the majority of their album and sleeve covers for the next 30 years.
But the artist quit working with the Ace of Spades hitmakers in 2007 after demanding royalty payments for his work - and Lemmy insists Petagno’s lawyer destroyed their long working relationship by encouraging the artist to pursue the claim.
Lemmy tells Metal Hammer magazine, "Somebody got in his ear about how he should be getting royalties for stuff we bought outright. You could tell somebody was in his ear and poor old Joe tried to sue us and s**t, and he didn’t have a leg to stand on because we’d bought (the artwork) off him lock, stock and barrel every time for a decent price and he never complained.
"Some lawyer came along and f**ked it for everybody! You don’t get royalties for a picture! Rembrandt never got that!"

JACKSON LAWYER CONFIDENT VOCALS ARE AUTHENTIC

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:31 pm

A lawyer for MICHAEL JACKSON’s estate has assured fans he went to great lengths to ensure the authenticity of tracks on the King of Pop’s upcoming posthumous album, recruiting a "forensic musicologist" to confirm the vocals are genuine.
The new record, Michael, is comprised of previously unreleased material said to have been recorded by the Thriller legend prior to his death last year (09).
But the album has been mired in controversy since previews surfaced online, with fans and members of the Jackson clan questioning whether the vocals belong to the late singer.
Jackson’s nephews, the former members of boyband 3T - Taryll, Taj and TJ - branded the song Breaking News fake in a post on Twitter.com, while the star’s brother Randy admitted he has doubts about "some of the tracks" on the disc.
Attorney Howard Weitzman, who represents the Jackson estate, has now revealed he turned to a number of experts to investigate three of the tracks allegedly recorded by Jackson in 2007, including Breaking News.
He submitted the samples to two musicologists and six of Jackson’s former producers, as well as engineers and musicians who had worked with the star. Weitzman claims everyone concluded the vocals do belong to the superstar - although he is urging fans to make up their own mind.
In a statement, Weitzman says, "Although there still seem to be concerns being expressed in some quarters about the authenticity of the lead vocals, ultimately Michael’s fans will be the judges of these songs, as they always are.
"We take all fan comments very seriously, and, as I’d stated, there is nothing more important to the estate than Michael’s music, his legacy and his fans. Michael’s fans are extraordinary in their quest for accuracy and their passions to raise their voices in a search for truth.
"We are continuing to follow up with those who have worked in the studio or on tours with Michael, and if any new information comes to light, we will keep you and the fans advised." Michael hits shelves next month (Dec10).

COHEN CASE DROPPED

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:30 pm

A cameraman has dropped his case against SACHA BARON COHEN over an alleged attack at a gay rights rally in 2008, because the legal wrangling has taken a toll on his "emotional well being." Photographer Mike Skiff filed suit against the British funnyman last month (Oct10), claiming he was injured in a scuffle at a rally in Los Angeles while Cohen was shooting scenes for his 2009 comedy Bruno.
He accused crewmembers of violently confronting him "with the threat of being clubbed with wooden signs" when he began to film the fracas and alleges he was shoved, pulled and wrestled to the ground.
But Skiff has decided to call off his legal action and filed a request for an official dismissal with the Los Angeles County Superior Court last week (ends14Nov10).
Skiff’s lawyer tells TMZ.com the matter "had become too difficult (for Skiff) to deal with".
Attorney Clifford Scherer adds, "Mike is satisfied with the statements he made, and satisfied that people were made aware of the situation."

DIXON OPENS UP ABOUT DOMESTIC ABUSE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:24 pm

British singer ALESHA DIXON broke down in tears filming a new TV documentary as she recalled the domestic abuse her mother suffered at the hands of a former boyfriend.
The former Mis-Teeq star opened up about her family situation for a new TV show about domestic violence, called Don’t Hit My Mum.
Dixon claims her mother, Beverley, was beaten by an unnamed partner and she witnessed the clashes as a child.
The 32 year old says, "I remember my mum crying and running out the house. My brother and I got pushed back. I remember thinking ‘Run for your life’.

She adds, "I don’t remember any harmony or fun times. When you’re young and you see your mum being abused you feel helpless and weak.
"I was scared of everything, scared to get a train to London, scared to pick up the phone. I wonder if it comes from not having a sense of security as a child. It is something I’ve had to work on." The show will air in the U.K. on Monday night (22Nov10).
