KHAN ORDERED TO PAY GIG PRODUCTION BILL

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 3:27 pm

CHAKA KHAN has been ordered to settle a bill with a production company after allegedly failing to pay up for concert costs.
The singer performed at the 2010 Sony Open in Hawaii and is said to have used the services of 15/40 Productions to provide audio and video equipment.
Company bosses claim the star only paid half of the $10,000 (£6,600) fee and they filed a lawsuit in Los Angeles demanding the I’m Every Woman hitmaker hand over the remainder of the cash.
The judge in the case sided with executives at 15/40 Productions and has ordered the star to pay up $5,000 (£3,300) to settle the bill, according to TMZ.com.

FELTON PROUD THAT POTTER ARTWORK IS HANGING UP IN BURBANK

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 3:27 pm

Actor TOM FELTON is thrilled his artwork has been selected for Burbank, California’s HARRY POTTER museum.
The young Brit, who plays villainous Draco Malfoy in the Potter films, created the drawing for a scene in the third movie and he couldn’t be prouder that it’s now hanging up in California.
He says, "There’s a drawing I did in the third film of Harry being struck by lightning. I remember the art department giving me a drawing of Harry and I said, ‘That’s useless. Give it here and I’ll draw my own one.’ "I spent an hour with the quill mastering this. This is my real work of art and that’s in the Harry Potter museum in Burbank. When I saw that I was a little touched." And he admits his home has become a bit of a Potter museum: "I’ve got the last four scripts of the films signed in the front by everyone and I treasure those and I have a letter from J.K. Rowling that I’ve framed and I treasure that as well. I make sure I take care of the things that are sentimental to me."

SANDLER GAVE BRAND JUMP START IN HOLLYWOOD

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 3:24 pm

Comedian RUSSELL BRAND has ADAM SANDLER to thank for his blossoming Hollywood career - because the movie star was the first to suggest the Brit abandon his TV job and try out as an actor.
The Get Him to the Greek star previously worked as a presenter for MTV UK and it was only after a risque interview with Sandler that Brand began contemplating moving to the U.S.
He says, "I was in England minding my own business, presenting an MTV programme, and Adam Sandler came on it as a guest.
"I was quite cheeky (to him) even though he was a big movie star and afterwards people said (to Sandler), ‘Are you alright? He was quite cheeky to you.’ And he said, ‘No, actually I quite liked it, he should come to America and do films.’" And the Big Daddy star even gave Katy Perry’s new husband a helping hand to land his first acting gig in Forgetting Sarah Marshall.
Brand adds, "So he put me in touch with Judd Apatow and then Adam put me in his film Bedtime Stories and now I’m making another film, so it’s been amazing for me. That was a bit of bl**dy luck!" Apatow produced both Forgetting Sarah Marshall and Brand’s hit summer (10) comedy Get Him to the Greek.

LAWYER: ‘SNIPES IS STAYING STRONG’

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 3:24 pm

Actor WESLEY SNIPES is remaining "strong and positive" ahead of his three-year jail sentence for tax evasion, according to his lawyer.
The Blade star was found guilty of failing to file returns when he stood trial in 2008, but his lawyers appealed the verdict and he was freed on bail to challenge the ruling.
He lost the appeal in July (10) and was due to surrender to authorities on 2 September (10) - but U.S. District Court Judge Terrell Hodges granted him a postponement pending a retrial hearing this month (Nov10).
On Tuesday (16Nov10), Snipes’ lawyer Daniel Meachum argued jurors in the 2008 trial had been biased against the star, amid allegations three members of the jury had made up their minds about the case before the court battle began.
Judge Hodges rejected the case for a new trial on Friday (19Nov10) and Snipes was told he must turn himself in to federal authorities immediately to begin serving his sentence.
The actor is "disappointed" about the "shocking" judgement - but is refusing to be downbeat about his impending prison term.
Meachum tells the Orlando Sentinel, "It is just shocking. Wesley is very disappointed but staying strong and positive."

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 6:06 pm

SIR SEAN CONNERY has been ordered by a Spanish judge to contribute to a $76.5 million (£51 million) bond as part of an ongoing money-laundering and property fraud investigation.
Judge Ricardo Puyol named the James Bond star as one of the individuals who must deposit the combined sum as surety in the probe into a number of property deals, including the 1998 sale of the actor’s beachfront mansion near Marbella, Spain.
Connery and his wife Micheline made $8.4 million (£5.6 million) in the sale but allegedly failed to pay $2 million (£1.3 million) to the local authority. The property was knocked down to allow for 72 luxury apartments to be built, despite planning permission for just five family houses. The condominiums were said to have yielded a $75 million (£50 million) profit.
Connery was given ten days to pay his undisclosed contribution or risk the impounding of personal assets, according to Britain’s Daily Telegraph.
The 80-year-old star failed to appear at a Spanish court to testify last month (Oct10), citing age and unspecified health problems.
