Former LOST star JORGE GARCIA is preparing to head to another island in a new drama based on America’s legendary Alcatraz prison.
The actor starred in all six seasons of J.J. Abrams’ mystery show, about a group of plane crash survivors stranded on a desert island.
He is now set to re-team with Abrams once again in a new series called Alcatraz, which tells the story of a number of missing prisoners and guards who reappear in the present day, according to Deadline.com.
The website reports Garcia will play an Alcatraz expert helping cops unravel the mysteries of the island prison, off the coast of San Francisco, California, which was closed in 1963.
Filming is set to begin in January (11) in San Francisco and Vancouver, Canada.

Danish supermodel HELENA CHRISTENSEN has travelled to Nepal as part of a campaign to highlight the effects of global warming in remote rural communities.
The eco-activist spent three days last week (ends21Nov10) touring villages in the south of the country, meeting residents and hearing their stories about flooding in the area which has destroyed crops and homes.
Speaking in the capital Kathmandu on Monday (22Nov10), Christensen told the Associated Press, "I… met several women who told me their personal stories, shared with me the fear they have over the way they live their lives now constantly waiting for flooding and not knowing how to react when it happens."

MARTIN SCORSESE has defended his decision to shoot his latest movie HUGO CABRET in 3D, insisting the format has allowed him to "rethink cinema".
The director, best known for his gritty gangster pictures, stunned his fans by announcing plans to make a family-friendly film in 3D, but admits he was thrilled to take on a new challenge.
And he’s assured movie-goers he hasn’t resorted to eye-popping "gimmicks" to show off the special effect.
He says, "I’ve always liked 3D. I mean, we’re sitting here in 3D. We are in 3D. We see in 3D. So why not? "Every shot is rethinking cinema, rethinking narrative - how to tell a story with a picture. Now, I’m not saying we have to keep throwing javelins at the camera, I’m not saying we use it as a gimmick, but it’s liberating.
"It’s literally a Rubik’s Cube every time you go out to design a shot, and work out a camera move, or a crane move. But it has a beauty to it also. People look like… like moving statues. They move like sculpture, as if sculpture is moving in a way. Like dancers." Hugo Cabret, which stars Chloe Moretz, Jude Law and Sacha Baron Cohen, is due in theatres next year (11).

MATTHEW FOX is planning to get lost IN A FOREST, DARK AND DEEP as he makes his West End debut.
The former Lost star is swapping TV for the London stage and has signed up to star in a production of Neil LaBute’s psychological thriller about two siblings who take time during a stormy night to re-evaluate their troubled lives.
Fox will appear opposite An Education actress Olivia Williams at the British capital’s Vaudeville Theatre, with previews scheduled to begin on 3 March (11), ahead of a 14 March (11) opening, according to Variety.

Model CHRISTY TURLINGTON has described the trauma she suffered following the birth of her first child - she had to undergo an "excruciatingly painful" emergency procedure just an hour after she delivered the baby.
The brunette beauty and her actor husband Edward Burns welcomed their daughter Grace in 2003 and she enjoyed a "perfect" birth, even though the tot was two weeks late.
However, doctors became worried when more than an hour passed after the delivery and Turlington had still failed to pass the baby’s placenta.
The star was diagnosed with a postpartum haemorrhage (PPH), a potentially life-threatening complication, and medics were required to remove the placenta by hand - which Turlington describes as "an excruciatingly painful experience".
She tells Britain’s Daily Mail, "The whole experience (birth) was perfect. I thought I could happily do it over and over again. The staff looking after me came in and checked on us every so often but I hardly noticed what was going on around me as I was totally preoccupied with my new daughter and my husband.
"Our obstetrician was called as after almost an hour I still hadn’t delivered the placenta. He said he would have to remove it by hand. The procedure must be done quickly - there is no time for painkillers. The placenta has to be torn away and the doctor needs to make sure there is nothing left inside, as this can cause infections.
"It was an excruciatingly painful experience. The delivery of Grace was nothing compared to it and I’d had no pain relief then either. There was a lot of bleeding, but what happened was nobody’s fault. My doctor and his team were fantastic." Turlington has since teamed up with a number of charities to highlight the importance of good hospital facilities in third-world countries and she is backing the Every Mother Counts campaign, which aims to combat unnecessary deaths during childbirth.
She explains, "The fact is 90 per cent of these maternal deaths are preventable."

HELENA BONHAM CARTER risked the wrath of HARRY POTTER bosses by starring in THE KING’S SPEECH because she was still contracted to the wizard franchise when she filmed the role.
The actress plays Britain’s late Queen Mother, Elizabeth, the wife of King George VI, opposite Colin Firth as the stuttering monarch in the acclaimed new film, which has already been tipped for success at the upcoming 2011 Oscars.
Bonham Carter reveals she initially turned the part down because she was still bound to the Potter movies in her role as Bellatrix Lestrange but director Tom Hooper eventually persuaded her to sign up for the film.
But she took a massive "risk" by agreeing to the work, because she could have been called away to shoot more scenes for the Harry Potter movies at any time.
She tells Comingsoon.net, "Tom asked me to do it… but I did have other obligations and duties, because I was doing Harry Potter at the same time, so I did say, ‘No’… I kept saying ‘No’. In fact, I don’t think I said ‘Yes’ but I ended up on the set, dressed as the Queen Mum…
"You know what they did? It was completely illegal and really quite risky. In fact, fantastically risky. Harry Potter never released me. They said ‘Even if you work on weekends, we get first choice’, so potentially, I could have brought down The King’s Speech."

Stars including HALLE BERRY, RENEE ZELLWEGER and DEMI MOORE turned out for a special ceremony in Los Angeles on Saturday (20Nov10) to honour the 33 Chilean miners who survived two months underground.
The CNN Heroes: An All-Star Tribute show was held at the city’s Shrine Auditorium to pay homage to ordinary people who have shown heroism.
The group of miners, whose dramatic 24 hour rescue was televised across the world last month (Oct10), were the stars of the show as they walked the red carpet with their rescuers, and they were given a standing ovation as they were honoured by celebrities including Berry, Zellweger and Moore, as well as Kiefer Sutherland, Jessica Alba and Kid Rock.
Music at the event was provided by Jon Bon Jovi, John Legend and Sugarland.

NICOLE KIDMAN will be the toast of the upcoming Santa Barbara International Film Festival (SBIFF) in California as she is honoured with a top prize.
The Moulin Rouge! star has been selected to receive the coveted Cinema Vanguard Award at a special tribute on 5 February (11) as part of the 10-day event.
The trophy, which has previously been given to Vera Farmiga, Christoph Waltz and Peter Sarsgaard, recognises stars who take artistic risks and make a significant contribution to film.
The 26th annual festival kicks off on 27 January (11).

TERI HATCHER has blasted "ridiculously untrue" reports she’s quit DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES, insisting she will stay on the show until "it’s cancelled".
The actress, who has played Susan Mayer in all seven series of the drama since it began in 2004, was said to have told executives at America’s ABC network the next season will be her last.
Britain’s Sunday Express reported she was leaving the show so she could work on a new series - but Hatcher is fuming over the story, branding it a "reckless fabrication".
She’s taken to her Facebook.com page to reassure fans she’s continuing with her role, which she describes as "one of the highlights of my career", and is demanding a "retraction and apology" over the report.
In a series of posts, she writes, "There are not enough adjectives to describe how stupid, off base, and ridiculously untrue this is… What disturbs me the most is that one fan would consider for one second that I would ‘quit’ what has been… one of the highlights of my career for which I am grateful on a daily basis.
"I have never said nor inferred otherwise… I am awaiting a retraction and apology at the least… I will say it again, I love DH, the cast and crew are like family and I am with it till it’s cancelled." Hatcher has also praised the makers of Desperate Housewives for their "new energy" on the current season, which has seen Vanessa Williams land a role.
She adds, "Vanessa Williams and the writers have brought a new energy to the show this year and I expect and hope it can continue on for a long time. I meet many people who still find so much joy in watching it and I want everyone to know I’m joyful to be involved to this day and that’s not going to change."

CHARLIE SHEEN’s lawyer has blasted allegations the star placed his hands around a model’s throat the night he reportedly trashed a New York hotel room, insisting the claims are "completely false" and an "attempt to cash in on his celebrity".
The Two and a Half Men actor hit headlines last month (Oct10) over reports he ransacked his suite during an alleged night of passion with Capri Anderson.
In a pre-recorded interview with ABC News, which is due to air in the U.S. on Monday (22Nov10), Anderson claims she was left terrified of the star after he allegedly grabbed her by the neck.
Sheen’s legal team has been quick to dispute the allegations, and has vowed to defend the actor "vigorously" against the claims.
In a statement to GossipCop.com, Sheen’s lawyer Yale Galanter writes, "Ms. Capri never made any allegation to the police of any wrongful conduct on the part of Mr. Sheen the night of the incident and she had every opportunity to do so.
"She also posted on her website that she was ‘fine’ and if you wanted to see more of her, for a price, one could enter the website.
"She has been to a number of law firms who have refused her case because they doubt her credibility. A number of news organisations have refused her story for the same reasons.
"If she pursues legal action, we will defend this vigorously. These allegations against Mr. Sheen are completely false, and are a blatant attempt to cash in on his celebrity."

Singer-turned-reality TV star PAULA ABDUL has launched a new website to help up-and-coming stars get discovered in Hollywood.
The Opposites Attract hitmaker started up AuditionBooth on Monday (22Nov10) in the hope of linking wannabes with casting directors, producers and managers.
Abdul, who helped launch the careers of Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood as a former judge on American Idol, has even started her own blog on the site which features advice and videos on how to succeed at auditions.
She tells HollywoodReporter.com, "I’ve had the privilege to nurture great talent throughout my career, and I’m so excited to create a site for users to discover and be discovered."

COUGAR TOWN star JOSH HOPKINS has heaped praise on COURTENEY COX for her professionalism on set while dealing with her split from her husband DAVID ARQUETTE.
The former Friends star announced last month (Oct10) she and Arquette would be taking a break from their 11-year marriage to work out private problems.
And Hopkins, who plays Cox’s on-screen love interest, has commended the actress for maintaining her focus on the sitcom during her emotional ordeal.

WATCHMEN star MALIN AKERMAN is gearing up to play porn legend LINDA LOVELACE in an upcoming biopic after LINDSAY LOHAN left the project.
The actress has been cast in Inferno: A Linda Lovelace Story by director Matthew Wilder, who dropped Lohan last week (ends21Nov10) citing difficulties securing insurance for the troubled star.
In a post on his Facebook.com page, Wilder writes: "We are so honoured to have Malin and know that she will kill it." Production on the movie was delayed earlier this year (10) after the Mean Girls star was imprisoned for breaching her probation over the summer (10).
Shooting was expected to begin this month (Nov10) but was once again stalled when Lohan was ordered to continue receiving treatment at California’s Betty Ford Clinic until January (11).

NICKI MINAJ has urged LIL KIM to put an end to their public feud, insisting the rapper will be remembered as a "sore loser" if she refuses to embrace her hip-hop successors.
The newcomer was left heartbroken when Lil Kim blasted her in an interview and accused her of copying her style, but Minaj hopes her rap idol can save her reputation by putting aside their rivalry.
In an interview with U.S. radio station Hot 97, Minaj says, "I felt like, (Lil Kim is) going to go down in history now as a sore loser as opposed to going down in history as the queen because if you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em. If you don’t have something nice to say, don’t say anything at all. You don’t have to feel the need to put somebody down to make yourself feel better." And Minaj is adamant Lil Kim should be grateful, as their feud has given the rap veteran a career boost.

MOTLEY CRUE frontman VINCE NEIL is convinced a joint tour with POISON "could happen" because there has been such a positive response to the idea since BRET MICHAELS suggested it.
The Poison star recently told fans about plans for a series of joint shows with the band in 2011, claiming the tour would be put together to celebrate his group’s 25th anniversary and Motley Crue’s 30 years in showbusiness.
Motley Crue’s Tommy Lee subsequently denied the story, while frontman Neil confessed he was baffled by Michaels’ claims.
But Neil admits promoters are now talking about a joint tour and it could actually go ahead.
He tells American DJ Elliot Segal on his Elliot In The Morning radio show, "I don’t know why Bret would say that. And I hadn’t heard about it. People were asking me, and I’m going, ‘I never heard that in my life.’ And I was getting a lot of Twitters about it. I finally just called my office and said, ‘What is up with this?’ I was kind of p**sed that nobody told me. And they go, ‘Look, we have no idea. There was never anything like that (being considered) or that was even being talked about.’ "But the funny thing is, ever since (Michaels) did that and now people are talking about it, crazier things have happened.
